Another escape room adventure and another great time as we hit up Sweet Escapes today for some escape action and of course a little treat at the end. This is a unique place as it's 3 escape rooms inside of a very good bakery so you can have your cake and eat it to. We were greeted right away upon arrival and got started, we tackled all 3 of their rooms and were not only successful on all 3 but made the leaderboard for one. Here's a quick breakdown of the rooms. Academic Misconduct is very well setup and the rooms flows well. It can be a little difficult with the lighting in the room but we figured it out, they had some unique puzzles too that we really enjoyed. Confectionary Conspiracy is a very unique room, we haven't really done anything like it. There were some great puzzles, very immersive atmosphere and just a very well put together room. Sorro Bay is terrific, it was my favorite of the day the way the room progressed and the combination of puzzles and tricks in that room. It combined a lot of unique elements and added up to a ton of fun. The rooms were fantastic, if you haven't visited I highly recommend you do. Savannah was our GM and she's one of the best we've ever had. The way she presents the rooms is so great and she had us laughing through the day. Savannah is the kind of employee all escape rooms should strive for. Ending note, the macarons were delicious, we had the PB&J and Neapolitan ones and they were so so good. read more

This was our first escape room experience, and honestly, it was a blast. The store itself is beautiful, and when we walked in they had fresh cookies and desserts out that looked amazing. The only slightly awkward part at first was figuring out when we were supposed to come in because we were told not to enter more than 10 minutes before the session, so it felt a little unclear whether we should wait outside or come in. Not a huge deal, just a slightly awkward first impression. The employee who explained the locks and how things worked was excellent -- super friendly, upbeat, and helpful. Then we were brought into the room by another employee who stayed in character while explaining the story, which really added to the experience. I went in without huge expectations and had never done an escape room before, but it completely surprised me in the best way. The room was smaller than I expected, but the experience itself was incredibly creative and immersive. There were so many unexpected moments and surprises throughout the game that made it genuinely exciting and memorable. We didn't even finish our room, and I already want to come back and try again, plus try some of the other rooms too. Afterward, we got cookies and desserts, and they were fantastic. The cheesecake cookie with frosting, the macaron, and the white chocolate macadamia cookie with sea salted caramel were all really good. My kids loved them too. The only reason I'm mentioning this last part is because the rest of the experience was so good that it stood out: the interaction when we were leaving felt a little abrupt and uncomfortable. It seemed like the employee helping the next group may have been stressed or rushed, but the tone came across a bit curt and made us feel like we needed to leave immediately rather than relax and enjoy the shop afterward. A warmer, more welcoming checkout experience would really elevate the overall experience from great to exceptional. Overall though, we had a really fun time and would absolutely come back. read more

We booked online without any issues. This is our third time visiting this business. Each time we visited we played a different room. There was always just 3 of us in a group. I will say it helps when you have people in your team that balance out, having different methods of problem solving or different in height, even ages. Though none of the rooms require anyone to be too tall. A few of the clues are set very low or require you to bend down low in dark spaces. We haven't tried any of the food here-- but it looks like they have drinks and sweet treats and even a few tables to sit at with games if you like. All around great family fun! Insiders tip: if you've been before, it's recommended you try the room(s) again not only for a better score but some thing's might have changed since you last found yourself in Sweet Escapes! Went with a group of friends, all were extremely disappointed in the escape room we chose, very boring and starting to fall apart. If you are claustrophobic avoid the bakery room. You're better off going to one in San Luis Obispo. Also DO NOT get me started on the bakery items STALE!!!! read more

We have no comparison but we've enjoyed our experience here. Our family has done the Bakery and the High School rooms. It's been a fun family friendly activity. Come to find out they reset the rooms every so often so you can enjoy again. It's a little pricey but a super fun time. read more

Tried out this new cafe + escape room for my boyfriend's little brother's birthday! The room we tried was the Legend of Sorro Bay. I've tried multiple escape rooms and while this was interesting, it was confusing. The clues in the room to get to the hint wasn't the clearest. The story itself was also not the most interesting. We came for a Girl Scout team building trip and the owners were so friendly and accommodating. We had 7 kids and the chaperones. The kids could not stop talking about how much fun they had. I appreciated how attentive Nay was and the level of effort the staff gave so the kids felt at ease and excited for the escape room. It was a first time for several of the girls. Upon arrival, I loved how clean and friendly the staff were. The girls all picked out a treat and it was finished before I got photos of them eating. They were prepped on the escape room. We did the room with the senior prank. I loved how each girl had a special task so everyone had a role to play. They had to utilize a few hints but finished the room with 17 seconds to spare. The owners were so nice and Savannah shared she was a former Girl Scout. They girls invited her to sing along the friendship song and closed out the day with their friendship circle. It was nice to finally have something in town great for families. I would definitely recommend this place and hope they stick around. The girls are already excited to come back with their siblings and try the other rooms with their parents. read more

My husband and I were in Paso Robles visiting family, and this ended up being my favorite activity while we were in town--yes, even better than the wine tastings! I'm by no means an escape room extraordinaire. In fact, I think I'm kinda bad at it, but this was so much fun. There were three of us trying to escape Confectionary Conspiracy, and we had a blast. I got lucky and stumbled across a clue early on, but my husband's cousin was definitely the one figuring out some of the trickier nuances. We got a little help from the staff with a few clues, but tying everything together was so much fun. I don't want to give anything away, but the whole experience was fantastic and super clever. It's not my first escape room, but it's been several years--and this one definitely made me want to do more. We came here after lunch, so I wasn't hungry and don't drink caffeine after 2PM, but holy cow the sweets menu and coffee drinks are legit! I can't wait to come back to Paso Robles to try out their two other escape rooms and I'll definitely be coming before lunch next time. It's also the perfect place to drop off puzzle-loving teens while the adults go wine tasting or treasure hunting through the local antique shops. If you're in the area, definitely stop by for the treats--and if you're up for a challenge, grab some friends and see if you can escape one of the rooms. These two young business owners are outstanding! Super friendly, creative, intriguing backstory, theater background, crazy talented, and heading places. The creations they cooked up were a delight to the taste buds, using ingredients such as lemon curd and ricotta. They also educated us on the macaron, NOT to be confused with the macaroon. Then there was the game side of the business. They offer 3 escape games. We went with the bakery game to continue the theme of the store. Something we found to be unique and fun was when we went outside and around a corner, to the competing shop next door, to begin the game. The tasks inside the room put our brains and cooperation to the test but we got out with 1 second to spare! read more

So happy we found this place while visiting Paso with the family. It was spur of the moment and lucky they had room for us, upon arrival we were promptly greeted by friendly employees and owner. The experience on our escape room from beginning to end was great, and we will be back to finish it! When I went with my wife and a couple of friends to Sweet Escapes for a Valentine's adventure, we never expected to experience the funnest escape rooms in the county. We've done every room at Puzzle Effect, we've done half the rooms at Locked Inn, and a couple other rooms throughout SLO county. None of them could top The Legend of Sorro Bay at Sweet Escapes. The fact that this experience is in the back of an Escape Room + Patisserie fusion business is mind-blowing. It's such a weird combination, but it worked out so well. We met with the co-owners while we were there (they were lovely and comped us a few GF macarons for our friends), they talked about how they had been in over 200 escape rooms throughout their relationship, and how they always wanted a place they could go after to just talk about the room they'd just done. They married Savannah's training under Amaury Guichon (THE chocolate sculpting king of YouTube) to their joint enjoyment of escape rooms to create something I didn't know that I needed; an escape room scene that lets you sit and enjoy the high of victory together over some delicious treats. And yes, they are all delicious. Savannah's apprenticeship under a world-famous chocolatier and pâtissier was on full display in the macarons and mini-cakes available, even late into a Friday evening. My wife noted that the sole improvement she could devise was that she would have loved some coffee afterward or as part of a daytime experience, but that's just a comment, not a critique. In conclusion, with such an odd fusion, one might naturally expect half of the experience to be considerably weaker than the other, but both elements were excellent in their own rights. The pastries were wonderful and surprisingly affordable, the escape room was one I will remember forever, and the owners were people I genuinely want to see thrive as business owners in our area. One of the best escape rooms we've ever done! The atmosphere was Amazing! So well done- from smallest details to color schemes, props and decor! Even the smells! We LOVED it! They have really clever puzzles that really make you think outside the box. And they didn't rely on a lot of locks like so many other companies do! Pretty high tech and cool effects! The staff were all so friendly and have a passion for escape rooms as they talked about being enthusiasts as well. On top of being an epic escape rooms company, they also have some to die for desserts that they make in their attached bakery! We tried their Crème Brûlée and blackberry tarts- they were SO good! We had such a blast at this escape room! The room we did Legend of Sorro Bay was creative and well thought-out. The puzzles were just the right level of challenging without being frustrating with great clues to help along the way. This is really expensive for the experience you get. Some of the props are falling apart inside the room. Paint chipping that makes it hard to progress to another part of the escape. The cupcake was stale and hard in the middle. This was for my daughter's birthday and everyone in the party said they wished we had gone to another escape room business in Atascadero or SLO. To top it off the employee was quick to get us out. Opened the door and said thanks for coming before we could look at the bakery items and I had to ask if we were allowed to purchase a cupcake. Definite 10 out of 10! We did the Confectionary Conspiracy room and it was super awesome. Not too hard, but challenging enough to keep us on our toes. The details are on point and the room is really well constructed. Lots of variety in the puzzles (vs all locks like some rooms I've been to). The staff is incredibly helpful, very professional and you could tell they all liked being there! I've done close to 100 escape rooms and this one definitely ranks in the top!
