Tim was incredibly thorough and informed. We've had some mice spotted in all three of the units in our building. We did a walk through of the house and he pointed out all the areas that they could potentially be coming in from. I was able to get an appointment quickly and they did the work same day. They used quick cement, sheet metal and other solid material that would ensure the mice couldn't chew through. He even went the extra mile and helped me set a bunch of traps (indoors and outdoors) and provided advice to minimize attraction for mice. The owner Tim was great and responsive on our initial request. However, his follow up and job quality was poor to say the least When I first had this company come out for my rat problem under our house he had someone there in 24 hours. He picked up a 2700 check and cashed it within 20 minutes of receiving it. We learned very quickly they didn't seal all entrance points and had to come back out again. I asked Tim for a receipt and invoice of service 3 times and he never provided. Then when I called him to tell him we now had mice inside our home, he could have cared less. Told me he was so busy and would try to squeeze us in. My husband and I are small business owners and we would never conduct business the way Tim at Proof it has. He is great when he thinks he is going to make money off of you but when it's time to service the job or come back to fix mistakes, he is no where to be found. Do better or go out of business Tim's response below is a lie. You called one time with a promise to follow up the following week and we never heard from you again. That was until I wrote a review. I've never needed this service before--I think, however, with restaurants closed, all the sudden, the rats and mice were all over the place and some of them found themselves under my kitchen, under the rear stairs, etc etc etc. I called several pest services; Proof It was able to come out the next day to come out and offer a bid. I approved and he came back the next day with a crew, traps, and a fiber optic scope. Even after moving the stove, cutting holes in the subfloor, and poking around the underneath with the Subfloor with Ezra's scope, we never did find the trapped/dead rats --but the smell (ugh) is less now 2 weeks later. That's not on Tim--the entire space was subdivided, too small to crawl into and you could only see 2 inches from every hole because of the insulation. Lesson learned about what crawlspaces should actually be constructed as (well, that happened when it wasn't my house, so...) Ezra and his team were diligent and covered all sort of openings, cleared away brush to find inlets, looked up into spaces, cleared boards and trim, put in cement, and left traps. It's been 3 weeks; and there's no new activity. You might look at the pictures and say: well, that sort of simple! And maybe it is. What wasn't simple was how Ezra and his guy FOUND all the places that small rodents might be getting into the house. I don't have the experience and skills to think that way. Home remedies (traps, sticky pads) failed so I called Proof It. Tim and Eric came out and checked the house from roof to basement. They sealed an access area (dirt under the foundation) with concrete, and other areas with heavy wire mesh. They cleaned out accumulated leaves and pine needles where rats could hide. They pulled contaminated insulation. After the house was sealed up they set traps. A couple of days later they came back to remove the traps and dead critters, then spray the infested basement with disinfectant. Have not had a single problem since. The guys went into my basement with hazmat suits ... that took some guts. Tim and his associate (whose name is Eric, IIRC) were personable and informative. Let me start off by saying that I understand the complexity of the trying to prevent and get rid of rodents, but this is more directed towards the service or lack of. We were referred to Tim by his old business partner and Tim was able to come right out and assess our problem. Business seemed promising. He was going to patch the holes, clear and sanitize the garage, fix the roof vents, fix the stucco, and check for any more possible entrances. We had a date scheduled to clear our entire garage and to set traps in the meantime. Monday and Tuesday were spent cleaning the garage and Tim had a guy come out to help. He originally quoted us about $850. Josh was AWESOME and very helpful! During the day Tim would stop in to check the progress. He had another guy come and chicken wire over the existing wired holes and he addressed the hole we had in stucco but screwing chicken wire to a board vs actually fixing the stucco which we thought would happen. We were able to rid the garage of rats but I expressed multiple times of the problem being in the walls. For over a month Tim kept saying he was busy with other jobs, the rain, and vacation but he would come out. He told me 4 different times in the last 3 weeks he would "swing by today or tomorrow" since I expressed to him the problem returned, I'm hearing them in the walls at night and they aren't dead... yes it thinned out, but now they are back in full force and it's as loud as before we even called him. He kept saying they might be coming underground and drilling to find their hole but why would I let a guy drill into the ground if he didn't even patch the stucco correctly or even come out when he was supposed to?! Business was promising at first but he failed to follow up for a month when the problem returned. When we finally let him go because he was never out here and to hire another guy he charged us $1400!!!! $600 for the rat abatement-so chicken wire and flashing (max $20 in materials!!) Let me make it clear that we purchased our own traps and were the ones emptying them. Never put new mesh on the roof vents nor readdressed the rat problem. Way to go! Rip off for poor service and failure to follow up.... it makes me sad because I love to support small and local businesses, but clearly this guy is too busy or our problem is too complex for him. read more

I found these guys to be responsive, but not able to solve my pest issues. They came out a year ago and charged me $1200 to proof my house against squirrels and rats. The squirrels had been gnawing away at the wood underneath my tiles (eventually causing holes) and the rats have been living in my attic. While the squirrel problem got better for a number of months, they returned. I called Proof-it several times to address this and they did come our a few times honoring their work. But after I paid another $300 for a forth trip and one or two follow-on trips I am done. The squirrels win. I feel like I wasted my money. The rats returned as well, but I recognize that these guys are hard to keep out of your house. read more

Ezra and crew saved my condo. I live in a two-story 20-unit building, and we have been having problems with rats for years. A combination of neglect, lazyness (on my part) and incompetence let the problem fester. Mostly the rats were in the walls and not in anyone's units. We'd hear then scurrying about and crying out every night within walls and ceilings. It was awful and neighbors complained, but nothing was done and we all sort of ignored it. Then I had to get the drywalls open for some plumbing work, and the scale of the problem was revealed. There was a well established rat population active at all hours. We'd see them walking along the plastic sheeting that the plumbers put up to cover the holes in drywall. Rat feces everywhere. I called the property management company who sent out their regular exterminator. He took one look inside the walls and told us he couldn't help. The job was just too big for them. Then the property management company got in touch with Proof-It. Ezra came out and realized that the scope of the problem was very large. We went door-to-door to determine the source of the issue, and we found it: one of the residents turned out to be a hoarder with a rat infestation in their unit. If you've ever seen the TV show Hoarders, it was like that. The floor of the unit was covered in layers of trash two feet deep. We think the hoarder lived with rats in their unit for years, allowing the rats to spread to the entire building by chewing through the walls. Ezra built a rapport with the hoarder, who allowed Ezra to clean up their unit. Ezra's guys hauled away eight truckloads of garbage from the unit. They placed traps throughout the unit and throughout the building (mostly in the attic), which necessitated building hatches in some of the upstairs units. Ezra's crew are builders that specialize in rat-proofing; they usually let someone else do the extermination. But on this job they did everything, and I mean everything: hauling out trash, coordinating with home-owners, building hatches, rat-proofing the building, trapping and exterminating rodents. The process took weeks, and over that time Ezra and crew caught over 100 rats in the entire building, approximately half of which in the hoarder unit. The rat infestation was completely abated. I'm writing this six months later and am happy to report that there are no signs of new rat activity in the building. In addition to this, Ezra and crew performed a massive amount of work inside the hoarder's unit. They did a full cleanup, which required hazmat suits! They patched up all the holes, built out a new kitchen and bathroom to replace the originals which were destroyed by rats and neglect, deep-cleaned and painted everything, in addition to countless miscellaneous repairs that the owner of the unit asked for. The sheer amount of work is hard to describe, and the results are like night and day. It is difficult to understate the positive impact Ezra made in the life of this troubled individual, and in the lives of the rest of us who are their neighbors. I cannot thank Ezra and crew enough. We used Proof It when we started noticing a stench in our house earlier this week. It was a smell that could only be that of a dead animal. My husband called Proof It for some help. Eric came out and found a dead rat in our crawl space which he removed. He also determined one had gotten into our wall and died near the waste line. He disinfected and deodorized the area to help the smell and hopefully accelerate the decomposition of the dead animal. Additionally, he patched up the vent screens on the outside of the house. I had Proof-It come to put place to rat proof our house about a year ago. We had Palmieri Pest Control come to eradicate the existing rats, and they suggested Proof-It to patch things up. Should have checked others before trusting them on their suggestion... I had to call them multiple times to get through to them, and they charged us about $1500 to proof our place. 2 guys came and spent less than a day (and because it took them forever to call back, I asked 2 other guys to quote us on the job - one guy came back with a $400 quote, but he was also extremely slow at responding that we had already gotten Proof-It to come out). They basically just used barbed wires everywhere to close off any gaps. A year later, I'm calling Palmieri Pest Control again, and they caught 4 rats this time. When the rat control guys came out, they were surprised at the sloppy work that Proof-It had done. They told me that the barbed wires that Proof-It had placed at our crawl space entrance was doing absolutely nothing (there were wide gaps that allowed rats to freely enter and exit). The barbed wires that they placed on our deck was also falling apart after about half a year, so I had to redo them completely (even our dog was able to enter through the barbed wires they placed!). I called Tim 3 times already (all at least a week apart). He promised that he'd send someone over, but nobody has come as of yet. This company is completely sleezy - I'd stay away from them. Eric called me back quickly as promised and him and Carlos arrived within a couple of hours from a job in the city. Super-friendly and knowledgable guys from the start. After I explained my problems and tales of woe they inspected the house and pointed out various rodent entry points. They immediately identified the smell as dead rat (gross). They went to work. This is a tiny outfit with a crazy busy schedule, but they take their mission seriously and provide great service. My good friend found evidence of a rat infestation in his 1960 home. We called Palmieri, who laid traps and seemed to isolate the problem. For cleanup, at Palmieri's suggestion, we called Proof It. To our complete surprise, Eric and Brian found a veritable RAT SUBWAY under the house: the "transfer point" where the water service entered the house had never been sealed, so rats could enter through the garage and the go anywhere they liked, even the bedroom! I called Proof It Pest Control a couple of months ago on recommendation of my neighbors, to check on rodents in the crawl space of my house. The job was challenging because we don't have a traditional attic, but Ezra and his team painstakingly did the inspection, located where they were, sealed all the possible entry/exit points in our two-story home. They set traps in one of the nooks where there was evidence of rodent droppings. After catching two batches of 6 rats and 1 initially, monitored it weekly for about a month until we were all satisfied that the rats are gone.
