Went in for a Sunday brunch while visiting BK. I believe we had a reservation so no seating issue. The place has a nice atmosphere and is really bright. The service was okay, could have been a little more friendly. We ordered and it took a while for the food to come, but we were a large group. I had the French toast which was good. Two thick pieces of French toast, with delicious bacon and a little fruit. I didn't finish it because it was a good portion. A nice amount of bread. I'd say the bacon was greeeat! My friends had the omelet and burger from the brunch menu as well. The omelet was alright and so was the burger. They were both good sizes as well. If any improvements, I would say a little faster and friendlier service. I'd definitely recommend it tho! We had a birthday party for my wife this past weekend at prospect bar & grill and I don't know where to begin in describing how attentive and kind the staff were in taking care of us. I made a reservation for the event 3 weeks in advance and even from our first conversation, I got a good feeling from the staff. In the week/days coming up to the even, it became apparent it was going to rain for the weekend. When I brought this up with them, they said they'd take care of us no matter the weather, which is exactly what they did! They were so attentive to us for the many hours we were there, made sure no one was ever without a drink, helped me out with the birthday cake and were just overall so great. I really do recommend this place to anyone considering having a party but I'd also recommend it for some nice food and a drink! read more

We were lucky enough to stumble across this awesome place. The food, service, music, and vibe was exactly what we were looking for. They offer more than the typical bar food and we really enjoyed that. We had the spinach dip as an appetizer, Mac n cheese (w/ broccoli), and grilled wedge salad (w/chicken) and enjoyed all of it. This is just my favorite place for food and drinks in the South Slope. The bartender is cool, and the food has never disappointed. Had the French toast the other day, with a cashew butter that was very tasty. The turkey sandwich on a toasted English muffin was ample food. Both came with 2 nice slices of bacon. We had a birthday dinner for 15 people last night at their backyard outdoor patio. We had made reservations in advance. They were awesome. Ricky, the waiter helped us decorate as we had balloons and fun softball themed centerpieces that we brought and they even let us hang up a birthday balloon banner. We ordered off their menu and everyone enjoyed their food, burgers, chicken sandwich, chicken tenders, vege burger and their salads and lots of cocktails, beer and non alcoholic drinks. There was something for everyone. It is a casual, friendly vibe. We usually go there after our softball games so we knew we had to go there for a bday party! it's really difficult for me to say exactly why Prospect doesn't do it for me. Ultimately, Prospect doesn't seem to work as as destination for a group or just a couple of people. It's a cavernous space and, despite the fact that it's well appointed, it just feels kind of lifeless. Beer selection is OK but not great or amazing and is priced on par with other bars in the area. The bartenders have all been attentive and nice. I'm totally middle of the road here -- I'd never tell someone not to go to Prospect but neither would it be on my list of recommended places. I know it's so cliche to come to Yelp and say, "I really wanted to love this place!" but that's how I genuinely feel about Prospect. It's a spot that, for me, has so many individual qualities that I like but where the whole seems to be less than the sum of its parts. read more

Let me start that by saying we've come here for years. The bartenders and servers have always been amazingly kind, attentive, super friendly and awesome at their jobs. The kitchen has always been a problem. God forbid you request fries with your burger during brunch. The poor servers literally look like they're going to be executed if they ask for a special request. The kitchen clearly runs the show, they must be culinary experts OR the gas bills is insane which means they can't turn on the fryer until 4p. But that is insane. Which leads me to today. We were sitting at the back picnic table right next to the TV. We get the cheese plate with the bacon compote, oranges, and an additional bacon compote that we didn't ask for. My wife and mother in law love the compote. I said the second one (covered under the oranges) looks like it came from a previous plate. It was clearly eaten. My mother in law, never one to complain, said no, perhaps they scooped out and it looked like that. I worked in bars and restaurants for years - someone ate out of this. Regardless, she ate it. Big regret. The table to our left had their food come out and their salad was clearly the best of compilation from previous salads and the trash. Cool. Mercifully, the server took care of that table, but clearly, a server QC'ing the food before it goes to a table is too much - the kitchen most likely yelled at them to deliver it. All in all, it is pretty sad. Prospect is a beautiful bar with WONDERFUL front of house staff. Their INSANE rules about meal requests during certain hours and awful kitchen turnout today make it a place we question if we'll ever eat at again. read more

Came here for the first time this past Saturday and had a great time. Wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out to be a great time hanging out with friends and making new ones. We had a small birthday party in the back. They have two huge picnic tables in the back of the bar. One of which easily enough space for our large group. They have an outdoor area which I'm sure is great in the Summer time. The bartender was great. I forget his name. Was it Owen? Luke? Not sure but that guy was the man. Another great thing about this bar is they serve Brooklyn Local 1, which is one of my favorite beers. Amazing taste, real high ABV, unfortunately it's real expensive but they had it and because I was having a great time I bought it. Why is the map info for this bar so far off the mark? It's on 5th Ave and 14th St, not 7th Ave and 8th. The name's wrong here too, it's just 'Prospect'. Anyway, huge bar, dark and dim, fresh wood smell, super friendly staff and the most generous buy backs I've ever experienced in any bar in the Slope (I'm looking at you, Commonwealth). Prices have the usual upscale creep though, most beers being $6-7. The back has plenty of space, and is great to hang out in the dog days of summer, I just wish they'd get some more IPAs (Founders maybe?) to appease the hop head in me. I was walking down 5th Ave, and noticed this new place which I had never been in before. The menu looked interesting, and the place was really clean, new and seemed to foretell a pleasant eating experience. From the slew of good reviews on Yelp, it appears that maybe I just caught this place on an off-night. However, the only positive thing about the experience was that the beer and cider we ordered were cold and tasted just like they should. Well, the staff was nice as well. The reason I wont be going back to this place is the food. Without a doubt, the food here was a strong contender for worst food ever eaten in a restaurant. We ordered the Grilled Portobello Sandwich which is billed as "Balsamic Marinated Porrtobello with mozzarella and topped with avocado salsa" and the Pan Seared Bronzini Fillet "with balsamic and coriander glazed fennel and citrus fingerling potatoes". The first indication that there was something amiss came when the food was delivered to the table. Oh God, what is that smell wafting out and surrounding us, making both of us practically gag!! Fishy fishy Fish smell, and for the first time in my life I understood why people claim that [CENSORED] smells like fish. It was awful. Despite the smell, I decided that I needed to sample this dish before writing it off. This was a mistake. The fingerling potatoes were way too citrus flavored and not properly cooked. The fennel was a mush of unidentifiable brownish green mess, which tasted so strongly of balsamic that I almost coughed from eating it. I then got up the nerve to try the fish. Oh, the fish. Thankfully, I barely tasted the fish due to the overabundance of salt. However, the small nibble that I swallowed was enough to make my stomach queasy, a condition still persisting this morning. Meanwhile my lovely friend was sampling her Grilled Portobello Sandwich. The waitress was kind enough to take the fish off our table so that the offensive odor disappeared and allowed us to even think of eating anything. while the sandwich did not live up to the epic level of awful set by the fish, it was a disappointment in its own right. Stale bread, and once again, WAYYY too much balsamic. (Chef, you listening, ease off on the balsamic! It doesnt make everything better!!). Also, typically "avocado salsa" would contain some avocado or at least avocado flavor, but lets not argue semantics here. Was this just a bad experience in an otherwise amazing dining establishment? I sure as hell dont know. Guess you can all try this place out and decide for yourselves. I just suggest you bring nose plugs. read more

Prospect verily embodies the unfortunate trend toward over-priced, unimaginative and massively yuppified fare Park Slope is becoming known for. From its vague and random name (suggestive of...the park? the terrace? the avenue? Olmstead? Vaux?) to its child-sized portions one can find the equivalent of in tens of restaurants in the immediate neighborhood, this place seems to be prospecting for mediocrity. On a recent weekend night the beer menu was an unsurprising collection of mid-range craft beers (Smuttynose, Ommegang, Lagunitas) for $6. My party of five had a few, got bored and ordered the Meat and Cheese plate. This $24 insult consisted of a few slices of chorizo, some bacony cheese paste, some baguette sliced to about 4mm, a few grapes, and some tapenade. Cost to Prospect: about $2. Cost to you: $24. There is better, more generous, and more thoughtful food in the Nashville airport. read more

ATMOSPHERE: Pretty spacious, dimly lit. It could definitely serve as HH for coworkers or a casual yet classy first date spot. DRINKS: HH specials are fantastic. I was able to get a martini for $6, and for well vodka, it was actually pretty tasty. Like it a little dirty and bartender did not go overboard on the olive juice, which, yay! But this is not translated in the service whatsoever! Lady at the bar was kind and cool. She was entertaining a couple at the bar and felt sorry for her job to be a couples "best friend". We sat down. My friend ordered a hamburger. Me a steak sandwich w cheese. Server looked like he had a rough night but pleasant and patient. The steak was awesome. If you've never tried Prospect and are looking for a new brunch spot in the area, you really can't go wrong. They're open for dinner, too but I can only speak for the burgers (they're good). Stopped in for a snack in the late evening. (around 10 o'clock) *The place*: Dark. It was hard to see what was on the menu or on the walls more than 10 feet away from you. The place was very clean though. *The food*: The swiss shard was so awesome. The fries were fries and the pretzel was lacking a certain wetness.. It was served with dipping sauce, but it was pretty much just spicy mustard. The pretzel bread itself was dense and slightly dry. *The bartender*: Megan made the night. I've been to Prospect dozens of times. The bacon blue cheese burger is reliably awesome. The kale Cesar salad is very good and pretty unique even though kale is so trendy these days.
