    a pizza in a box

I was pleasantly surprised by the large margarita pie I ordered from Prospect Pizza last week. They aren't a household name or a buzzy restaurant written up by all the food blogs. They're just your local pizzeria operating mostly on delivery orders and single slice takeaways. My pie was made fresh from the time I ordered it for pickup and was ready about 30-40 minutes later. It carried well through some distance and tasted absolutely phenomenal when I got home. The sauce was tart and tomatoey, there was plenty of fresh garlic and basil in the sauce, and the cheese to sauce to bread ratio was perfect. Even more telling is that I finished every last bite of the crust-- the crispy and fresh edges of each slice were irresistible. I was tempted to chalk up the tastiness of their margarita pie to me being hungry, but eating it heated up the next day I found myself planning my next Prospect Pizza pie order, stat. Okay, random pizzeria with an okay Yelp rating, your pizza hits differently these days.

This was a great Margherita like pizza aka Grandma Pizza Pie!

Quarantine Review: We needed some pizza and wings and fries and dessert and Prospect was open. Delivery: It was quick and efficient. Perfect. No complaints here. 5/5 Philly Steak Pizza: I love a good cheesesteak pizza but this was just okay. The yellow triangle cheese slices were not a good look, too much peppers and not enough seasoning. It was almost what envisioned but missed the mark. 3/5 Margherita Pizza: They refer time it as "Grandma's Pizza" ... it was unexpectedly a rectangle and it was really good. Basil, mozzarella and sauce. Delicious. 5/5 Wings: These were classic buffalo wings. I asked for blue cheese dressing and for 9 wings they gave me one cup. If you really like blue cheese with your wings ask for two. Fries: Fries are admittedly tough to pull off in delivery. These were just meh. They were lukewarm and not really seasoned. 2/5 Cheesecake. Solid for what I'd expect from a pizza joint and yet for $4.50 I would have liked an option for a strawberry or pineapple topping. 4/5

SAUSAGE PEPPERS & ONION PIZZA PIE

I've ordered twice from here through the new Slice app. Very easy. Quick delivery. Grandma pizza is excellent. I was very surprised tonight though to find that the sausage onions and peppers pizza has NO tomato sauce! The pizza is good, but for me it needs to be really clear in the description that this pizza doesn't have sauce! If I ordered sausages peppers and onions on a pie anywhere else, sauce would be a given. Interesting choice PP. Thanks for the speedy service.

Prospect Pizza definitely is hitting a sweet spot for the area. This part of Brooklyn doesn't have dollar slices, and it does have some fantastic sit-down places popping up (looking at you Zurilee, Parkside, etc.), but it most certainly lacks something in the middle (and no, don't even get me started on Gino's). Prospect Pizza is the place you want to order from, or walk over to, to grab a pie last minute just because you feel like it. The prices seem pretty even keel for the most part, and the grandma pie I ordered was pretty good. It was pretty thin for a slice of that style, which wasn't bad, but definitely thinner than most of the usual ones I've had. Seasoning was good, cheese and sauce were solid A-. Good enough that I'll definitely be coming back to try some more options. Their daily specials are a nice way to mix things up, and while I haven't tried their other Italian dishes yet, I'm willing to take a chance. They had our pizza ready in about 30 minutes for a take-out order, as promised. Nice to see a new place that isn't trying too hard, but is just doing their own thing.

A new place that popped up in the neighborhood. I've ate here twice and each time I'm moved almost to tears at how good the pizza is. I will definitely be back.

If they sent you burnt food they will not make it right. Avoid businesses that can't handle their own mistakes.

I also consider myself a pizza connoisseur, next to ribeyes, barbecue and key lime pie, I'm probably saying my fourth is pizza. It's totally different than Chicago pizza, and I think it's because of the water I really do!!! What separates pizza places are either the ingredients, or in this place, what separates them is their crust. They make everything fresh right in front of you, pictures are below. Jennie took our order and she walked us through the menu. We ended up getting a big margherita pizza. My son got the 2 tomato slices, he isn't a big cheese fan. My wife got pepperoni, they have beef pepperoni or pork pepperoni. Mikey Love was really cool he came out and greeted me. My kids got a drink, and then guess what, their gelato was actually top tier. Cash only, BYOB (with rules depending on how many people), and a time limit on the table. Know what you want when you sit down. Menu is easy, pizza, calzones, sometimes pasta. Simple. Is it worth waiting in line for - maybe - if you have 2-3 hours free and nothing else to do and it's a nice day, sure. But honestly can't say I am running back to do it again. Waiting in line to get added to a waitlist that still doesn't always guarantee you will sit down to eat at the requested time - we were seated 40 mins after checking in (unusually long, never had more then 20 mins or so in past visits) but still a strange system, keeps the spot exclusive I'd guess. Have visited several times and always have had a good meal and the prices are very fair. Seating is not super comfortable and they pack you in for real, the restaurant is also unnecessarily dark and loud - But not in a bad way? I can't explain it but the very delicious pizza makes up for the weird ambiance and all the rules... definitely something to experience atleast once.

I've eaten here, come to the Bushwick Block Party to see Action Bronson perform, and spent enough time around Tiki Disco to associate the place with a particularly inventive, free-spirited period in the neighborhood. The dining area still has that wonderfully idiosyncratic character: exposed beams, communal tables, mismatched details, and an open kitchen turning out genuinely excellent pizza. What impresses me most is how naturally Roberta's became more than a restaurant. Food, music, parties, outdoor spaces, and an extraordinary mix of people all seemed to converge here, giving the place a cultural gravity that could never have been designed by committee. It remains one of those places that instantly takes me back to my bachelor years and an especially fun chapter of my time in the city, when Bushwick felt endlessly creative, and Roberta's seemed to sit comfortably at its center. This is the first restaurant we've been to with 20% auto gratuity for a party under 6. But the borderline dishonest part is that the check that you sign tells you in tiny letters that tip was already added, but has huge font for additional tip and written out tip calculations, so it is very easy to tip 40% without noticing. Sometimes I do tip extra generously, but I don't want to feel like I was tricked into doing it!
