I always passed by this pizzeria (it's right off the F/G train stop) and its name always caught my eye. I decided to give it a try and I was not disappointed. I ordered a couple of slices to dine in and a large coca cola (32 oz!!). It was pretty busy, but they were mosty pick-up and delivery orders. There was ample seating to dine in. We ordered the pepperoni slice and veggie slice - I really enjoyed the veggie slice (it has mushrooms, broccoli, peppers, spinach - you name it!) It was very filling, fresh, and crust was just right. It was not overly toasted. I was also intrigued by the baby pizza pies! It's a perfect personal serving. :) I can see why this restaurant is currently celebrating it's 50th anniversary in service. read more

Got a slice for 3.75 and 6 garlic knots for 4.50 and everything was pretty good. I think I prefer the pizza sauce to be a little sweeter. All the staffs were super welcoming and nice. read more

Came here recently to grab a quick bite hoping there would be more selection but at 5:30pm, it was slim pickings. There are amble amount of booth style seats inside. We ended up getting a margherita slice, white slice, a pepperoni slice and mozzarella sticks. The pizza was not warmed through but not hot so the cheese was not fully melted. The white slice had so much ricotta on it, it was nauseating after a few bites. The mozzarella sticks was hard! Not melty inside and just way too much breaded. The service is also pretty slow but they were nice and I think they cater to more whole pie orders. read more

Smiling Pizzeria is the local pizza joint in my Park Slope neighborhood. The pizza is generally good especially if you get a fresh pie. I took this home and shook my head. What can I say about this place? I grew up coming here with my family 30 years ago. It's been some time since I've stopped by so I made sure to do so this past weekend when my family and I were in town. The neighborhood has changed a lot sadly, but I am glad this place is not going anywhere. Hopefully I'm not the only one that grew up in the neighborhood and still remembers this place from back in the day. Stopped on in really hungry with my oldest son craving one thing, New York pizza. Usually we get that craving and other spots in Brooklyn or in the city, but I knew I wanted to mix it up this trip so we stopped on here. Ordered a broccoli slice for myself for good all times lol and a beef patty with cheese is the last one I had gotten the day before somewhere else wasn't good. What did a Sicilian pie with pepperoni. It was fantastic, my oldest son is a hard critic so he wasn't super impressed lol but nonetheless, everything was great. Including the garlic knots and Zeppoli's. We got also their spaghetti and meatballs plate. Wasn't that bad, wasn't the best but wasn't that bad. The fellas behind the counter all good dudes. None of them were there back in my day, but nonetheless sharing my old stories with them. They also had years old stories themselves. Good to hear the owners are still the same, during the time we were there a lot of the customers look like transplants new to the neighborhood, but hey, whatever keeps the shop up and running. This pizza joint feels like it came straight out of the 1990s, and for once, I don't say that with nostalgia. The pizza is okay, really nothing more to say than it's just average, at least for a cheese slice. Toppings looked bleh, though. I also got a mushroom slice and the mushrooms looked like they came straight out of a can. The interior is not quite old school... it's just old. Hard plastic booths and tables that are the epitome of utilitarian seating. If you're in the area and absolutely need a pizza fix, you could probably do worse, but you could also definitely do better. read more

First I'll mention when I ordered it was pouring rain on a Sunday afternoon. That being said I ordered a Grandma pie for delivery. Ok so delivery estimate was 35-40 minutes. It's raining and I'm realistic it will be towards to latter 40 minute timeframe. After delivery time moved back once I still waited patiently. Now it's one hour after placing order. No pizza so I call the restaurant. I explain what and when I ordered places on hold. They come back with "oh it's out for delivery already". Hmm ok maybe it another minute or two. I waited a total of 70 minutes since ordering and still no pizza. I canceled my order. 75 minutes later the driver arrived but we refused the order. Could be a bad day but if you are overwhelmed with deliveries then shut Grub hub off until you catch up. Plenty of pizzerias in the area to choose from. We did and it was delicious and hot upon arrival. read more

A solid 3 star pizza. Super convenient to the 7th Ave station on the F train (it is barely a 2 second walk on the street), and it is easily accessible for anybody looking for a quick bite to eat without all the pomp and pageantry of a pizza slice. The plain slice is solid, but beyond that, it does not stray far from the New York slice playbook. It is overloaded with cheese, the sauce has a nice pleasant taste, but not too rich. The slice also has a nice touch of oregano and has very, very crispy crust. I also have to point out that this slice was very hot upon trying my first bite. Definitely wait it out a few minutes if you can not handle the hot. Their white pie is also marginal. In addition, it is also cheese excessive, but this slice's crust is more chewy, but size-wise, smaller than the plain slice. It is not bad, but you will not be impressed with it. It did the job adequately, par for the course. Again, no frills, just simple. But it could be a lot better. My last point before I give my final viewpoint, they take credit cards, but only at a $10 minimum. For a baseline pizza, this works well; it is not the best pizza in the city. However, it will not leave a frown on that (hopefully) smiling face of yours. read more

A solid neighborhood joint that alway hits the spot. Gas oven, NY style pizza. A bit greasy but definitely doesn't have to be come home from the bars food...this is Park Slope after all. The crust is a bit dry without the sauce and cheese so I'd love to rate this 4.5. I've had their mozzarella sticks too which were mediocre. Ambiance is definitely ultra-casual takeout vibes. If it weren't so busy/multiple entrances it actually has a nicer dine-area than other takeout pizza places. I wouldn't travel here from other neighborhoods to JUST to eat here, but if you're in the area, it's definitely a go-to. read more

Skinny old cashier who wears a mask (incorrectly at that) is very impatient, rude, touches food and money with the same gloves, and worst of all seems to be the main cashier. He alone inspired me to make a Yelp account. Even though the other cashiers are nicer, it saddens me to say I've also had them grab my Mozz sticks with their bare, money-handling hands. Come here and you can expect the classic dirty thumb-print pressed into the crust of your slice without failure. This place stays in business only because of the kids who don't know better from the schools nearby, and the F train subway exit that leads you right to the shops front doors. read more

This pizza place is all right, average. Hubby and I came here after working out at the park. We ordered two regulars and two grandmas. Of course it's for to go! So we ate outside on a bench. I tried a slice and there's a baby bird came by asking to be fed, so cute! I gave it a tiny piece. I didn't eat everything, just wanted to try and then eat the rest at home. The pizza place is quite big. Without pandemic, they can accommodate maybe 15 people. There are four or five good size tables left and right once you enter the place. Not bad. read more

Hefty slices with sweeter sauce and a lot of bread and cheese. I ordered a Cheese Slice and a White Slice. The Cheese Slice would fall among the average NY slice. They had the news playing on a corner television and an MTA worker was screaming at it. Constant chaos inside. Crowd: People screaming, teenagers paying all in change, and a homeless man being chased out by staff. Service: Crazy behind the counter, but had the slices out quick. I brought a friend of mine visiting from New Zealand here, and she declared that this was "Pretty much everything I imagined New York would be." This is indeed one of the most quintessentially New York places I can imagine--a bright, almost garish interior where you are asked "Whaddya want?" by the counterman within about .5 seconds of entering, and you'd better have a pretty quick response at the ready. A place where you can get a complete and exhaustive analysis on the Mets or the Rangers from the counterman and/or a fellow customer in the 2-3 minutes you wait for your slices to heat and be boxed. And oh, those slices. A perfect balance of tangy tomato sauce, salty mozzarella and crispy dough. A bit naturally greasy, but not overly so. Perfect in the that piping hot, fold it in half and eat it in one hand, don't you dare even think about taking out a utensil way that only New York pizza can be. The kind of slice that makes you want to call Chicago and tell them to keep their damn "pizza." Naples too, for that matter. Sizable slices served quickly and efficiently, and keeping with the unofficial NY benchmark of the price of a slice equaling the price of a subway ride, 2 slices at $5.50 will keep you full for the bulk of the afternoon--or, even more enjoyably so, will be the perfectly greasy nightcap as you step off the train after a night of imbibing. Located right outside the stairs of the 7th St/9th Ave subway stop and open 'til 1-2am most nights, you couldn't ask for a more convenient, accommodating spot for your pizza fix. read more

If I had to say everything wrong with this pizza we'd be here until Christmas. But basically: 1. Mozzarella sticks are overcooked, the pizza is undercooked. 2. They never use quality ingredients for the pizza. I'm surprised anyone eats it. 3. The staff aren't very friendly. They don't say hello or talk to you at all. They seem like they don't even want to be there. 4. Too small. I bet they couldn't afford a bigger space. Essentially, is it worth the cash and wait time? Absolutely not. I really like their normal, good old fashion NY Pizza!! I was introduced initially by my husband who grew up on the block. We live in Red Hook, and love the pizza place on our block but still go here also, especially since they're open late, and now deliver to the Hook!!! Yay!! I like their pizza especially the day after. We always get a meatball pie, and fluctuate between mozz sticks and garlic knots.
