A selfie museum close to home that gives you the New York experience. Not too loud on the night…read morewhen I visited but there was a bar and a section for a DJ. This hidden gem is located on Market Street in Hartford right beside the 960 Main St building. It's a selfie museum and a restaurant all in one. The restaurant menu is small but there are a wide variety of options to choose from. I came for Christmas dinner with friends who were all dining for the first time. I ordered the New York strip with candied yams and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was a little bland but was still edible. It was my first time trying candied yams and it was so rich, sweet, and delicious. I had my steak well done and it was so juicy. The serving size was also pretty decent as I had leftovers for the next day. For my drink, I had the soho punch which was very tasty and fruity. To be able to take pictures I believe you have to pay for that part separately, however, based on the numbers in our party, they told us we could take pics and you know the model I am, I went around and took photos at nearly all the photo booths. Each photo station has a ring camera with a ring light which makes it perfect for taking pictures especially if you do not have anyone to take your pictures. All the others in my party also enjoyed their meals. They had jerk chicken alfredo, fried whiting fish, salmon alfredo, Buffalo chicken wings, burgers and so much more. They also do paint and aip and will be hosting a New Year's Eve brunch if you are interested.

I'm not sure if the upstairs area is still available for guests to use. The most recent time I was there for Thursday night karaoke. DJ Aura hosted and there was a pretty decent turnout! The space is definitely good for large groups. The entrance to the bar area is a bit tight but they have some high top table tables available as well. I tried the chicken tacos and they were alright. Next time I would probably try something different. I heard they just got a new chef so I'm interested in the flavors she's bringing to the kitchen.

It was Sunday, a little on the early side, so the bar was wide open. Hubby opted for his signature drink: a very dirty vodka martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. I went with my favorite drink at The Social House - LaLa Lemon: malfy lemon gin, lemon sorbet, lemon zest, mint leaf. Both cocktails are absolute perfection! Next time, we are definitely going to try their signature cocktail - The Jungle Bird (served in a cage): bumbu rum, campari, amaretto, lime, pineapple, brown sugar, pineapple wedge. I'm soooo curious about this concoction!

Management always seems to be there when I arrive, happy to greet and seat me and make sure I understand specials and how the menu works. Cocktail selection is good with unique flavor profiles. The menu is tapas style. Not super expansive but some good options. Last time I was in, I got the Asian chicken skewers that are served over cold noodles (absolutely delicious), and a half flatbread half panini plate. Pizza (mushroom and onion) was good. Panini was just ok, a little dry. This is the kind of spot I enjoy coming to for the ambiance and cocktails. Not necessarily my favorite for a sit down meal, but that isn't the point. Beautiful decor and a sexy atmosphere.

Son's got a tree business,…read moreprobably funded by this restaurant and one nearby which is now defunct and got an employee killed. No one will talk about THAT. I don't know what happened but it happened. When my mother was alive, I would come here with family and we always got good meals, but it WAS really slow service. I actually liked the place. However, it was a small kitchen. I took a couple kitchen shifts here and saw how badly it was running. Lots of cross contamination and inadequate food preparation. Supplies were kept in the basement and I got myself locked in the walk in refrigerator once, had to kick it open like I was doing a law enforcement raid just to get out. Meat slicer was unmaintained being that it was one of those automatic ones, it would literally take your fingers off. Huge liability. God forbid you work in the kitchen here or as a hostess, the language barrier was significant. I hate leaving bad reviews on businesses, but this place was in disarray and completeley unsanitary. I liked it when I was a customer, and many other people I've been there with did as well. The food was actually good, but you can't unsee stuff you've seen and this place HAD to go under. The bar kept the business alive, but there were plenty of flaw there too.

We came for the karaoke. The drinks were good and the bartender was friendly and attentive. The karaoke host ruined it for us. He was making a lot of songs into duets. We wanted to hear people sing. They use a website to request a song. My date and I had put a few in, but the host kept playing songs in between everyone else singing so we got called up only once. There wasn't a ton of singers, but half the night was just taken up by filler. Other places have food and good drinks, and karaoke that features the singers, not the host.

The outside I noted had a little pond but honestly we didn't get to check out every detail of the place because let's face it, it's New England in December ... it's freezing cold outside and I was in a skirt. The place is casual wear. I was def overdressed. Def worth a try.
