This is my first time here. My brother sent me a Facebook post of the Berzerker I thought it was right up my alley. Once I saw that picture, I got in my car and ordered it. It did not disappoint. The sandwich is topped with a toasted pretzel bun. The sandwich contained eggs, crispy bacon, melted cheddar, chipotle aioli and hash brown patty. I also got the side of hash browns and the suggested paired drink of the Cookie Monster. The Cookie Monster is a cookie butter, cold brew topped with cookie butter cold foam. All of these items were very delicious. I do have to note my stomach didn't exactly enjoy the combination but a couple steps of Gingerale and I was good to go. That place was fairly busy. It was Friday night around 6 PM that I went. Staff was super friendly and walked me through the process as I've never been there before, so it was very easy to understand the process. read more

We were in the area so we decided to stop by yellow kings and grab the new golden hour coffee flight. It was so good. Came with 5 different iced coffees. Which were all delicious! I enjoyed every single one. My favorite was the MARSHZILLA COLD BREW it was made with the following HASTUR'S COLD BREW SHAKEN WITH OUR HOUSE-MADE NUZILLA SAUCE, TOPPED WITH MARSHMALLOW COLD FOAM. Came here for a get together with coworkers. The place was spacious and has a seating inside and outside. I love the decorations inside. I review the menu on the wall and decided to get a Cookie Monster. The girl at the counter was friendly and was happy to answer any questions. I also order a BLT and hash browns. I have been excited to try Yellow King for quite a while now, but I have to say I was quite disappointed. It was a Sunday afternoon, and not overly busy, but there was still steady business. Service was friendly enough, but not very helpful/knowledgeable of the menu, and we didn't find the setup easy to navigate being first-timers. Alcohol had to be ordered separately from coffee/food. I found prices to be a bit high for what you get, personally. The space was large and open, but rather than fitting a lot more standard sized tables, there are fewer large tables. So definitely good for groups. I had the buffalo cauliflower with xtra hot buffalo sauce, and the Golden Hour coffee flight. I was with my sister, who had the nightman cometh sub (and added fries) and a tequila cocktail I can't recall the exact name of. She was a lot happier with her choices than I was. Her sub had sirloin and mac & cheese (she ordered the chipotle aioli on the side). It was large and filled fairly well. She wasn't wowed by anything, thought it was pretty good overall, average or slightly above. My cauliflower was quite soggy, and the breading did not hold well at all. It was tender, likely blanched before frying, but it also tasted like that (bland besides the sauce). The sauce was very standard. Although I ordered a coffee flight where each drink had lots of additives and flavors/toppings, I did not taste coffee at all in anything, even the cold brew that just had vanilla syrup and espresso cold foam. All of the flavors also felt very weak and diluted. I primarily tasted milk. It was a bit late to be ordering coffee, and I noticed all of the coffee orders being placed took an exceptionally long time. Far longer than food or alcoholic drinks. Maybe it was just an off day. It was not a horrible experience by any means, and again, my sister was not nearly as disappointed as I was. However, based off of my experience, and given how many amazing coffee shops and restaurants there are around, even in relatively close proximity, I definitely can't say I would recommend it. read more

We were here Sunday at noon it is very spacious inside cool concept . We ordered wings barbecue garlic Parmesan. They needed to be cooked a bit more not crispy at all . Then 2 of us had the pretzel it was very good big enough to share . Didn't care for the cheese sauce very thin and flavorless. Also had the Mac and cheese I thought it was pretty decent and the burger and fries the burger came on a nice hard roll but the burger itself didn't fill the bun . The drinks were fair very pricey extremely small glasses the Bloody Mary was too hot but not a horseradish hot 3 of us had them it was in a small glass as well and only one drank the whole thing . Loved that you could try all the special on the menu in a well portioned glass. To be fair - I am not a big fan of espresso martinis but these were pretty good. I visited on a Wednesday morning and unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. The girl who took my order was noticeably unfriendly and rude, which made for a less-than-welcoming environment. 3 stars due to unfriendly staff otherwise would have been a 4 star. I ordered the Spring Flight ($22), which included five drinks: 1) You Wanna S'more? - My favorite out of all 5 drinks! 2) Strawberry Shawty - watered down, lacking flavor, tasted like artificial syrup 3) Bourbon Bee Nitro - I thought this drink was really creative! If you're a bourbon fan, you'll definitely appreciate it. The only downside was that I wished it was colder--it came out at room temperature for some reason. 4) Banana Nutella Chip - watered down, lacking flavor 5) Pistachio Ice Cream - Personally, not a fan of artificial pistachio flavor but my partner said it tasted like lucky charms and enjoyed it. I also tried the egg sandwich on an everything bagel with cheese (+$0.50), sausage (+$1.75), hash brown (+$1.50), and chipotle aioli (+$0.45), for a total of $10.45. The bagel itself was solid, but overall, the sandwich felt a bit pricey for something that seemed to be made from reheated frozen ingredients. The location is a bit odd, tucked next to a contracting company, but parking was easy. I really missed Yellow King Brews. On a trip back to New Haven we made sure to carve out some time to come back here for breakfast and try the legendary coffee flights. The fall one is just so quintessential New England and filled my heart with so much joy. I loved all of them but the salted caramel one was definitely my favorite. I wish the had a few more breakfast options here but the bagels are pretty decent (I think they get them from a local bakery). It's the kind of place you can hang out for a while, too. I had been wanting to visit Yellow Kings for what felt like forever, and let me tell you it was 100% worth the wait. It was about 6:00 pm on a weekday, and I was happy they were open for a late day pick-me-up. As soon as I walked in, the vibe was welcoming and laid-back, the kind of place where you immediately feel like you could spend the whole afternoon. In fact, it was a beautiful day and they had the windows opened up so it gave the space such an open, airy feel that made the experience even better. I ordered a cold brew coffee, the "Wylde and Nutty", that tasted to me like a peanut butter fluff (yes, you read that right!) and it ended up being one of the best coffees I've ever had in my life. Super smooth and perfectly balanced. They do offer food as well, "bar snacks", which I'm excited to come back and try. I also love that they have a loyalty program. I finally made it to Yellow Kings! I've always heard great things about their flights so me and a friend tried their coffee flight and espresso martini flight. I should preface this by saying I don't care for espresso martinis so I'm not too picky but I am picky when it comes to coffee. Came here today to finally try this place! It's been on my list to visit and I couldn't be more impressed. The people who work here are so kind and helpful. We ordered the Frostbite Seasonal Coffee Flight, Cookie Monster Coffee, and Breakfast Sandwich. Not only do the drinks and food look great, they taste just as good. My wife surprised me with an impromptu date because I love espresso martinis. We were there for an hour and a half and were checked on twice. Waited about 15 minutes to get our first acknowledgement of "be right with you". Even though we had to ask if we could sit at the bar because there were dirty glasses by the seats and we weren't sure if people were still sitting there or if it needed bussed. At about the 30 minute mark the bartender came and got us drinks. We asked for food menus. Had to flag the bartender down to ask about food menus again. We were able to place food order and another round of drinks after sitting for another 30 minutes with empty glasses no offer of water or anything. Sat again with empty drink glasses. Then we were asked if we wanted boxes. We really wanted more drinks so, we said an old fashioned. He informed us he was a bar back and unable to take drink orders but could bring us waters and a box. We said yes. He brought us one water and never let the bartender know we wanted drinks. So we got the check and left. We were prepared to spend more money but didn't have the time to wait another hour. The espresso martinis were GREAT! Service left a lot to be desired. read more

We drove from southern RI to visit this amazing bar, after stumbling upon an instagram post. The vibe is very relaxed, lending itself to the concept of a coffee and espresso martini bar. The martinis are each made by hand, which does mean there can be a little bit of a wait when you order, but trust me. THEY ARE WORTH THE WAIT. The creativity of these cocktails shines through their seasonal menu! If cocktails aren't your thing, have no fear, they also offer seasonal coffee flights. This place is always busy! Been here twice, first visit i had the espresso martini flight as well as a pizza, sat directly at the bar. Stopped by yesterday for the hot cocoa flight, took a while to get the flight but it was a busy Saturday afternoon and the bar looked swamped. The classic & cannoli were my favorite. Just a forewarning - These little suckers are STRONG. It can get very loud in here when it's packed- nothing on walls for any noise cancellation. This coffee shop has such cozy vibes. Inside is very rustic-themed. There are high top bar tables and long wooden benches to hang out with a couple friends, study, or work on your laptop. There is plenty of parking, and it is attached to a mini strip mall. On their menu, they had a bunch of exciting seasonal flavors of coffee on their menu with and without alcohol. I ordered the cookie monster cold brew and it was so good! They used house-made cookie butter in their drink. The coffee they used in it was very smooth with no strong aftertaste. The blue color in the drink sure made a nice presentation. It took about five minutes to be ready. The staff said they are known for their cold brews, so if this is your first time visiting, I would recommend trying it. read more

Very pretty drinks, good coffee, flavors are missing some punch. As a guy who enjoys his Cthulhu and cosmic horrors, when I learned there was a Yellow King place that offered coffee flights I had to make my way there. Starting off the bat, the place is very much a bar. Not a complaint, but it's the easiest way to explain how things work. You go to the bar, you order your drinks, you get a placard, and you pick up your drinks when they are done being made. Not a bad system at all, but very much a beer garden style vibe to the whole ordering process. The place has a lot of character. Doesn't lean on any specific mythos, instead kinda borrows from each one and uses them in the names. The coffee board was effectively a silhouette of a kraken tentacle, so I mean they draw from all of it. I ordered their fall flight, because I like to try new things and it looked like they did flights in batches. Came up to 21 bucks for 5 small sized coffees, but it felt like you got a good sampling and the amount you get justifies the price point. Service was quick, took them about 10 minutes to turn out my flight. I took the drink to a barrel and tried each one. Starting off, there was no particular flavor that I would say was "amazing". The #saltbae had the strongest flavor out of all of them, but it wasn't "Punch you in the Face" strong. It was subtle notes, letting the coffee do it's thing and providing accents to each of the drinks. Their coffee is actually really good too! Very pronounced and distinct in their flavor profiles. The black star had nutty notes, while the Jambi coffees had more of a herbal and smooth flavor. I appreciated that the coffee was the star of each of the flights. But subtlety only gets one so far. The name and description of said drinks gives the taster an expectation. When one tastes a drink that has bourbon pecan and cinnamon, it's expected that those flavors be towards the forefront. doesn't need to outshine the coffee, but it should be one of the stronger flavor notes. Unfortunately in most of the cases, the coffee was always the strongest flavor and very much in the forefront. Occasionally you get a hint of the other flavors, but it's always in the far back or the tail end of the drink. Granted, the yellow king is all about subtlety and implied horror. Not sure it translates well in coffee though. As a coffee, it's really good. if I were to get a straight up iced coffee with their Jambi and I doctor it up to my taste (Splenda, whole milk, and salt if there's bitterness) then this drink would be very solid. If I got a pumpkin dreams though, I would very much be disappointed in the lack of pumpkin flavor despite it being in the foam and mixed with the coffee. Which is why I'm putting this at a 5 with a condition. If you go here for just straight coffee, this place is one of the best in the state. If you come here for a specialty coffee, you will probably be disappointed with what you get. The flight I got was great for the review and pictures, and I enjoyed the coffee used in each one. But I wouldn't ever get a flight again because I had 5 drinks that promised strong flavors that failed to deliver. read more

My friend told me, with the best of intentions, "Yellow King is the best, dog!" After renting a limousine, and putting on my best pantsuit straight from the laundromat, for that is what "the best" deserves, I ordered the first cocktail I saw on the menu. Within minutes, my stomach began making noises that could be compared to a box of ignited Black Cat firecrackers. I knew it was over for me. As sweat beaded down my furrowed brow, I raced to the restroom (which did not have any soap in the dispenser). I could only get my outfit halfway off, as my pantsuit came with an adhesive strap that connected the jacket and the trousers. It was too late. I emptied my bowels into my clothing, which coagulated immediately, but fortunately collected it like a bowl. It was the worst my stomach had ever felt in my entire life. It turns out, I cannot blame Yellow King Brews for turning my lower intestines into an area that has caused me pain for two weeks. When I told my friend who recommended the place about my experience, he corrected me. He meant that it was the best place FOR his dog, who has a constipated stomach that hardens due to the anxiety from the yelling when he watches the Maury Povich show on full volume while he does kettle bell exercises. Yellow King Brews is the only place with coffee strong enough to make him empty his stomach when it's at its very hardest. Yellow King has been so popular on social media lately, and I can see why. Yellow King offers so many fun drinks and flights (espresso martinis, signature coffees, margaritas, you name it!) All of the staff were chill. Inside was pretty loud and dimly lit. The decor and painted artwork on the wall was very cool. You can tell that a lot of effort is put into this business, and it's definitely worth supporting. They also do a weekly trivia night. read more

The space inside has a lot of seating, high ceilings, would be great for groups. It's also a bar with a big selection of beer. But we came for the coffee! We ordered the "Signature Flight" to get a taste of what they have to offer. For $20 you get 5 good size glasses of a specialty coffee. It's a great deal and perfect for 2 coffee lovers to share. Our favorite was the "Cookie Monster" and the "Wylde & Nutty". Both very tasty with great flavor combinations! The "Cookie Monster" comes with, House made cookie butter sauce, Shaken with Hastur's cold brew & topped with blue cookie cold foam. Great choice for sweet tooth coffee lovers! The "Wylde & Nutty" is peanut butter and whites mocha, Shaken with Hastur's cold brew. The peanut butter with white mocha flavors pair perfectly! The straight up Hastur's Cold Brew is also very delicious. It's their signature, medium/dark Peruvian roast, brewed for 18 hours. We also had a bacon & egg sandwich on a hard roll. It was basic but it did the job. The hard roll was good, so was the bacon. Definitely could have used some cheese or sauce as an option. Service wasn't amazing, but wasn't bad. Definitely would give the Signature Flight a shot if you're in the Wallingford area! read more

While the service is great and it's a cute coffee spot, the prices are absolutely insane and inconsistent between similar items. My Cookie Monster coffee costs $8 and comes with cold foam, whereas my sister gets the Nuzilla and it costs $10 when adding cold foam for essentially the same drink. Not only is this extremely overpriced, but inconsistent between items with the same ingredients. The baked goods we tried were all stale unfortunately, and the staff stated they were unable to do egg white breakfast sandwiches despite having regular egg sandwiches on the menu. read more

I used to come come here reliant four years ago, but I tried it again on the way to work one morning and the food is disgusting and coffee is way too sweet and over priced. All the girls who "work" there look like they are 15 years old and are so incompetent and ignored me and who only flirt and pay attention to all the boys and couldn't be more rude to me I waited a half hour for a coffee and salty cold egg sandwich. I've been to Yellow King Brews 3 times now. The first time, I tried the special cold brew flight. The second was for Drag Trivia Night, and the third was just to get myself a sweet treat. I got a Cookie Monster cold brew this time. I was disappointed by the aesthetic of the drink because I thought it would look more like the other photos posted on Yelp. That being said, it tasted pretty good, but the cookie butter flavor was also very weak. My friend tried it and said it tasted like regular cold brew. I probably wouldn't get this flavor again, but they do have a variety of options to choose from so hopefully I find one I enjoy more. I planned on just taking the drink to go, but my friend and I got sidetracked looking at the board game selection, and we ended up spending over an hour playing Arkham Horror.
