I was treated to this brewery by a friend so I cannot comment on the costs. They could not have been friendlier and the atmosphere was great. I went to Prost with a friend from Austria (and Sir Nicholas of course.) I thought he might enjoy it since he basically thinks all of the other microbrews we've given him are too bitter, too strong, too something and he sticks to drinking things like Budweiser when here in the States. A travesty to me. This trip to Prost proved entertaining for me for a variety of reasons, the biggest one being the pronunciation instructions that ensued throughout the night as Nick and I struggled to say "Marzen" or "Dunkel" or any other beer name correctly in our friend's opinion. Alas, we (mostly) failed. But, Prost succeeded! I ordered the sampler to start so I could savor all the flavors and I'm glad I did. While I enjoyed each of the beers I tried I have to say my favorite might have been the Marzen. I also liked the fact (and it made our friend chuckle) that they had some "beer cocktails" on hand. Things like lemon soda and the weisbier for example. I had one and it was good, sweet though like a dessert beer if such a thing exists. The location is pretty big and while they don't serve food in house they did have a food truck out-of-house that we ordered from and brought in. I came here for a beer tasting with Crafty Ladies. It was a Tuesday evening and the joint was jumping. The parking can be pretty atrocious, but I parked in the back (private) lot and prayed my car would be there when I returned (it was!). Upon entering, the brewery is a good size, with lots of wood table/bench seats, seats at the bar as well as alongside one wall. There is a meeting room towards the front of the building with weird fluorescent yellow lights, but the meeting space room itself seemed pretty cool. There were 4 or 5 beers on tap and of the 5 I tried, the Weisbier was my favorite. It has elements of banana flavor that I adored. The Dunkel and the Dunkel Veiss were great beers, dark, but without being too heavy, which was lovely. The Pils and the Kolsch were not favorites as they were pretty hoppy, but that's merely my taste profile. Others may love it. What I found unique was that their beer menu also included beer drinks, mixed with soda. As per the norm at most breweries nowadays, this brewery doesn't serve food, but there was a food truck there when we arrived, which was pretty handy. Service was great and very friendly. The brewer there to discuss the tasting was knowledgeable and seemed to love her job, which is refreshing. I look forward to returning and I'm sad it took me so long to make it here. read more

When, I walked into Prost and was instantly greeted with a smiling server, I knew I was in for a fun afternoon. After my annoying uncertainty as to what to order they patiently walked me through each beer and offered a flight of beer for only $5!! And Voila! I was able to sip on all the beers that Prost proudly brews and serves. My favorite, which has hard to choose, had to be the Pils with the Weißbier coming in a close second. That undercurrent of banana flavor in Weißbier is just a delightful surprise. A welcomed new addition to Denver, this brewery sits atop the hill on 19th street and is just the epitome of coziness and community thanks to the picnic tables that create an open space and a sense of beer-drinking camaraderie. While I can appreciate German beer, of the tasters I had, there wasn't really one I was anxious to get a full pint of. The seasonal beer on tap was a dark wheat and it had kind of a hammy taste (like ham). It's very likely it was just be me with a variety I haven't delved into deeply yet (before I was into most types of beer I though IPAs tasted like wash rags and Scotch Ales tasted like band-aids). Prost has a pretty large space with ample seating. They also have growlers filled and ready to go so the barperson doesn't act like it's a chore to for someone who just wants a growler. They also have the most ingenious carrying devices for flights that reduce spillage from the bar to your table. The one odd thing we noticed is that tax wasn't figured into the beer prices so you have to deal with pesky change. I get so used to beer being $3, 4, 5, etc that when you get an amount like $5.40, it's just a little odd (not bad, just odd). I've already seen their beer in places around town and it seems like they're doing well. I just think at this point in time, Prost is not the place for me. read more

Yeah for more local breweries! I love me the wheat beer so this place is right up my alley. It is still super new, so the crowds and lines can get pretty long. It is kind of confusing how one should best get a beer. Here is the secret - there are 2 ways! Stand in line, but only near the cash register, or grab a seat at one of the tables and a waiter/waitress will come to you The patio is pretty cool - but til the sun heads down it's hot out there! The beers! Ahhh! I've tried them all and none aren't drinkable. Some are more than others, but still all great! They have fun combos with lemon soda, and other, which are interesting, refreshing and fun! Inside the brewery, great set up, lots of shared seating, a gigantic back table, and even a private party room if the need might arise! There is no food, but you can bring in whatever you want or having something delivered. Not uncommon among the breweries around. And i kinda like it! Focus on the beer! read more

With a maiden name of Pfannenstiel, I of course had to check out this new German brewery. I was looking forward to it opening for months, and their biers did not disappoint. The inside is very beer-garten-esque with lots of big picnic tables for communal seating. and I love the German flags draping the ceiling. It does have somewhat of an industrial feel inside and could be a little warmer, but it is a brand new space, and that might change naturally with time. Now the important part: the biers. Love the weisbier...a fantastic clove-y Hefeweizen. I also really liked their seasonal one (although I can't remember what it was called). It was kind of like a Weisbier in flavor, only darker. Delish! The downside of this place was the foul odor wafting over the outside seating area every few minutes. Not sure if it was coming from the dumpster out front or what, but it was pretty bad and almost made it unbearable to sit outside. Besides that, I love this place! read more

My own personal expectation was high for this place, as having lived in Germany for six years, three of which were in Bavaria, and the last ten traveling back and forth for business. There is something so simple and pure in sitting in a Bavarian Bier Garten, sipping on a nice, crisp Helles born of the purity laws that used to be in effect, surrounded by friendly conversation, under a "Bavarian Sky" - - that sapphire blue dotted with white clouds, much like their flag. "Gemütlichkeit" is the word used to characterize this feeling, and unfortunately on this side of the Atlantic our language is lacking in such a term. I was at Prost their opening day, and have since been back a half a dozen times, which is an indication of where I am with this place. It is a spot-on representation of what can be experienced in and out of the towns surrounding Munich, save for the big screen TV which had to be a compromise to this sports city. Inside, long tables, nice bar, plenty of servers, with flags and banners on the ceiling and just the right amount of German paraphernalia on the walls. There is even a "stammtisch" - a table reserved for regulars and perhaps (in the German tradition) the "important" people of the town, like the mayor and others held in higher regard. Outside, more long tables, though a bit narrow and if you sit towards the back the smell of the large dumpster creeps in. Of course, all of this ambiance is worthless if the beer does not hold up. This one does, with perhaps a minor exception. The Dunkel is absolutely perfect, dark, roasty malt and just the right amount of bitterness to balance. The carbonation is right on, with a creamy head that continues to produce as the level in the glass goes down. Oh, and the glassware... no compromises here. You will not find a standard bar "pint" shaker (usually only 14oz) at Prost. The glasses are specific to style, and adorned with a small colored logo, and the pilsner even has a gold rim. These glassware shapes have been refined for hundreds of years specifically to enhance the particular style, and thus the beer drinking experience. Back to the beer... the Weissbeir is nice and fruity, banana and clove coming through; very true to the style. The pilsner is crisp, clean, a touch of spice at the end which I think is a tip of the hat to the originators of the style, Czechoslovakia. The "guest beer" is a contract brew, Dank IPA, which was a delicious representation of a strong American IPA, but out of place here. Finally, the Tivoli, a brand and recipe resurrected from 1969, a traditional German Helles. This is the only beer in the lineup that I felt fell short, though not by much. This style is the one invented in Munich in the 1800's, and is their daily drinking beer. The helles I remember drinking in Bavaria was straw-blond, full creamy head, a thick mouthfeel, almost floral aroma up front with a touch of sweet malt, finishing with herbal, not bitter hops. The Tivoli reminded me more of a pilsner, with a thinner body and lacking in the sweet malt as I remember the style. The finish was more bitter than expected as well. I know that this is a Resurrection Beer from what was produced in Denver up until 1969, and I have never had the original, so I really cannot ding it too much as it might very well be true to the original. I just hope the great brewers at Prost take another shot at this style, make it a bit sweeter, creamier, fuller, and less bitter at the end. That, to me, would be the perfect beer for a place that does an excellent job of creating an atmosphere of Gemütlichkeit. Denver has many great small breweries that are doing interesting and extreme things, most awesome things. If, however, you want to step back from the imperial IPAs, the brews done with coffee and jasmine and key lime and cherries and untold other ingredients, if you want to kick back and enjoy clean, crisp, pure beer and relax in the company of others seeking a similar experience, then Prost is for you. read more

I went here last night and it was pretty good! Our waitress was very friendly and gave us recommendations on what beer to order based off of our taste buds. It's actually one of the cheaper breweries I've gone to in Denver by about $1.50 per beer. They have serve food you just need to ask what they're offering that day. Really a nice brewery that opened up in the Highlands area! I had the Pilsner and the Dunkel Bier. Personally I liked the Pilsner better but nothing tasted bad! I had a really nice stay there but when I left to get something to eat things took a bad turn(See my review for Denver Health). read more

Awesome place, awesome beer. Pro tip: Get a dunkelweiss by having them mix their dunkel and their weiss. It is excellent. The weiss has a wonderful aroma with strong hints of banana. Very refreshing. Nice patio. This was one of the best places I hit on my Denver trip. read more

Prost is a nice brewery right in the heart of the Highlands neighborhood around the area of Little Man Ice Cream and Avanti. I've always felt most of the new business coming into the neighborhood provides a similar trendy, casual environment regardless of where you go. Prost seems to have that same feel, but adding in a German twist. I can't say it's my favorite location to grab a beer, but it does provide a good place to meet up with a group and relax with a few beers. Prost provides a great selection of beers for pretty much any type of person walking in their doors which is great when you want to accommodate everyone in your party. read more

Ohhhh, Yeah!!! This is what I'm talkin about! A traditional German style bier hall with excellent German style biers! We came here on a Saturday night after dinner. Good thing too, as they don't appear to serve food. (However I did notice a food truck in the parking lot.) So we promptly grabbed a spot and ordered litres of bier. Why litres? Because they serve bier in litres, and why in the name of all that's holy would you want less? The Marzen was excellent, as was the pilsner. They offer other brews not their own, but if you order those you are wrong. Fun lively atmosphere, big community tables and a yellow room off to the side. (I'm not sure why.) My friend Thomas from Austria came to visit around Halloween. For the first 5 days of his visit, I kept hearing him complain about the beers here... He basically kept saying they weren't real beers, they tasted terrible, etc. So what to do? Find a local brewery that caters to his tastes! Ladyhawk and I took him to Prost and he FINALLY complimented something... He gave the beers at Prost two thumbs up and proceeded to make fun of my pronunciation on all of the beer names there. But hey, he liked it. I mean, if an authentic Austrian likes it, it's gotta mean something right? Oh and I also loved the 3 german delights I had from their taps as well. Went here on a Saturday night with some friends and was pleasantly surprised. Plenty of beer selections that all tasted great! They have valet parking up front (otherwise it's street parking), have a nice cozy interior, and also had a food truck that delivered food to the people waiting inside. Star the First: awesome physical space which is (for the most part) a pretty good replica of an authentic German beer house; long tables, bright flags draped from the ceiling, private drinking rooms, lots of open space and light. I totally dig the patio area too - great for them good weather days. Star the Second: fan-friggin'-tastic beer. My favorite is the Weißbier which is a classic German wheat beer. The light brews are also great: the Pils and the Kölsch are really good. They also have some seasonal beers or even an Oktoberfest brew if the timing is right. Also, pretzels. Star the Third: I was drinking with folks who are members of the Home Brewers Association which gives cardholders a little discount. I am not a member but I'm a poor student so I asked if I could get a discount too. Sure enough, I did :-) That kind of customer service must be expressed and honored. It was only like 93 cents off the bill but still... Lack of Star the Fourth: I found the outside parking lot to be a dismal wasteland of dirt, grime and cigarette butts. This brewery is clearly popular so keeping the outside clean would show that you honor the appearance of the location both inside and out. Maybe even think about paving the dirt lot. Lack of Star the Fifth: two reasons - too many flies buzzing around which really detracts from the experience. Also, sometimes they run out of their tap beer which leaves the options pretty low. Variety is good so I would say always have a backup option. read more

Our server (Sophie?) answered all of my questions and helped me select a couple of delicious beers. On the surface, the concept of an "all-German" brewery seems lackluster. Everyone's had German beer, right? I can tell what you're thinking right now. Light. Pale. Pilsner. Maybe even from the Warsteiner or Paulaner variety (If you're like me, then you're thinking about Köstritzer schwarzbier, but that's another story). And we've all had Sam Adams Octoberfest, haven't we? Now if you've acutally even been to Germany or delved a bit futher into beer styles then you know that German beer has a lot more to offer. It's some much more than pilsner. And that's what Prost Brewing has brought to Denver. It's German beer done right. All of the techniques, the VERY specific ingredients (don't even think about getting fancy), and precise measurements that make German beer great. It may be rigid, but it makes for some authentic and delicious beer. The taste at Prost is truly authentic. Head brewer Bill Eye imported the brewing equipment from Germany, and seemingly imported the flavor from Germany as well. The styles are nearly clones, and blow any German-style beer brewed in the city out of the water. While the Prost Pils gets all the glory, their Dunkel is outstanding. I also love their Marzen, as it is not overly hopped and malty goodness. Prost does a very good job acting the part of a German beer hall, right here in Denver. They've got flags adorning the walls, and long wooden tables arranged in a large open space, surrounded by German Beer memorabilia. The large picnic-style tables are perfect for sharing, which adds tremendously to the community atmosphere. The taproom is lively and racous every time I've been here, which gets you in the proper mood for a fun night. read more

I grew up in Germany and have spent a lot of my adult life there as well. The hubs also lived there growing up, and is a beer connoisseur (as well as a homebrewer). We know what good German beer is. Prost is good German beer. The options are not extensive, but they are authentic and delicious. The atmosphere is pretty perfect as well - big open room, long tables, not too over-dressed, reminiscent of fest tents. There are no TVs. It's the perfect place to grab a beer and hang out with friends and actually talk - either to them, or the other people at your table. I haven't tried the pretzel yet (despite numerous attempts to get the hubs to buy me one - "Where's my pretzel? Why do you keep not bringing me a pretzel?" "Sorry, I forgot again."), but I will definitely get one next time we go. And there will be a next time. Even though I just moved across town, it's good enough to go out of your way. read more

Holy Mackerel! I did not expect to enjoy this place as much as I did! We ventured in here on a Saturday afternoon to be no less then blown away by the delicious beers that we sampled. As per usual I had the sampler in which I enjoyed all of the standard pours and was amazed by the uniqueness and maturity each of them had to offer. I typically expect a little lag time before a brewery is off and running, but WOW this place has got it together. The ambiance is large, open and has a pretty cool vibe with a spectacular view of the city through the front windows and off the patio. The wait staff was very cool and allowed for a very relaxing experience. They only serve beers, but it appeared they have a food truck that comes around. Go here and enjoy it! read more

I really can't say much for this place. I wasn't there long and I am not the biggest beer drinker on Earth. But my friend was in town and needed to go to the breweries in town, and this showed up close to where we were at. I did try all 6 beers available in a flight. Prices are beyond reasonable and the atmosphere was hopping. Not much of a selection, and that actually isn't a bad thing. Very casual and open. The heat could've been set down a notch. I really enjoy several of their beers. I LOVE that they adhere strongly to Rheinheitsgebot...that is so key to making good beer. My favorites are their Helles, Dunkel, and Weizen. On a hot summer day, ask them to put a little raspberry syrup in your Weizen, and mmmm it's so refreshing, and authentically German. There's not a full kitchen there, but they almost always have a good food truck outside. The food truck rotates, so you can get different food pretty much every time you go. Denver still sits in the sweet spot of being able to build up breweries with plenty of space and industrial style layouts. Prost fits into this niche... soon, this city will grow too quickly (perhaps as oil companies shift to this hip state), and breweries will be a little bit more constrained with suburban sprawl. The beers here are offered in the size of a traditional German liter, which is sweet. Additionally, their glassware is unique as compared to most breweries. Their offerings err on crisp, light, and the occasional nutty attributes. Ample parking, fun weekend events, and a laid back vibe afford this neighborhood haunt a few brownie points. read more

Maybe I'm too literal, but I was looking for a paved parking lot. Not a dirt lot with unclear signs. We had to call to figure out where to park. Um, we're adults and I felt like an idiot. Anyway, once we were inside, I was pleasantly surprised. We were some of the first customers in there (two couples and a baby) and the atmosphere was nice, friendly, and really relaxing. You can bring in your own food, but they also serve those soft pretzels that are sold at every bar in Denver, or chips/bagged pretzels, and I think I saw something about cookies on their board. Their beer is great according to Husband. Once it got busier, we felt like one of the very few tables that did not include a hipster, so if you're not a hipster and don't want to hang out with hipsters, go early. We'll definitely be back. Dunkel is a fun word to say and when you're at Prost, it's even more fun to drink! Came here with a group of 4 that quickly spread to 12 because we were having so much fun and loved the beer so much. Seating is on picnic tables. I love picnic tables. There's a yellow room in the middle of the place and we ended up in it. Said yellow room is a small private room with a glass window that looks really awesome and exclusive, but turns out it's first come first serve! While the lighting is a bit weird, it's a great topic of conversation and you get to sit in a more intimate setting with your buds. They have a large jenga that strikes fear into your heart when you hear it fall and a food truck outside for your noshing needs (that you can eat inside). read more
