Didn't know this spot existed and came up on a search as we were craving German food. Off the beaten path in Aberdeen. Big space and reminds me of the Biergartens I've visited in Bavaria. Large main area with Bench tables along with a good size Bar area and a few smaller Dining rooms. Would be fun to be here when it is packed as it was quite late Saturday afternoon. They have a display of some of their more popular entrees and specials at the entrance. Ordered to go and had a Hacker Pschorr Gold while waiting. Tasty medium body Lager. Wanted to try a couple of Entrees so it was Jager Schnitzel (Pork Loin) with a side of Spaetzle. Curry Wurst with fries and an extra Knackwurst. Schnitzel was very good and loved the Spaetzle. Sausages were both excellent. Service was friendly. Servers are dressed to complete the Biergarten vibe. Great space for groups. Will be back.

I am torn about writing this review. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. I love German food, and we were looking for a place to hold a celebration gathering with about 10 people. I even called and made reservations, and warned them that I am a wheelchair user. None of that effort was necessary. The restaurant was EMPTY, at 6pm, on a Saturday. As we were leaving there was absolutely no one around except for the accordion player. When we entered, I thought the accordion player was fun, but after about a half hour of not being able to hear anyone in our party, and our waitress getting exasperated because she couldn't hear anyone while we were trying to order, we were all pretty much over it. I can now say that I have heard "Take me out to the ballgame" played on an accordion in a German beerhall, while no sports were to be seen, though. Dude didn't even stop playing when we accidentally broke a bench, and two of our party were rolling on the floor, trying to keep from crushing each other between planks of wood. Our waitress did not seem to enjoy being there, did not know the menu items, could not remember to bring condiments, disappeared for half-hours at a time, and really should have told us that half the items on the menu were not available. Of the six or so sausage selections listed on the menu, only 2 were available. The pork shank wasn't available. And at that point, I threw up my hands in disgust and didn't order anything. Well, I DID get a $4 appetizer pretzel which was half stale, clearly not made on site, and came with the most God awful mustard for dipping that I have ever put in my mouth. I ate half of it and pushed it away. The food came out slowly. And that was fine, at first, because some members of our party were coming from Glen Burnie and got stuck in traffic and a rainstorm. But 40 minutes passed between appetizers and entrees. There were no rave reviews for any of the entrees. The pork roast was tough. The sauerkraut was sweet. Pretty much everyone took leftovers home because they got bored with eating. Dessert was the biggest hit. We weren't the only ones who were unimpressed with service. A friend of one of our party just happened to be sitting at the bar, where he claimed he sat for over a half hour without anyone coming to take his order. Ahhh, so now the empty restaurant makes sense. I understand that this is a second location for Prost, but they seem to be treating it as a redheaded stepchild. I can't see this location sticking around for very much longer, which is a pity because I hate to see a restaurant fail. I'll wrap with this: if you're craving German, try their original location. I plan on taking my own advice, to compare the two, just not any time soon. Once you get burnt by a restaurant, it's hard to try again right away.

Love this place lots of space for seating, i would meet my parents here back in the day before they moved to Texas. Me and my grandma go here from time to time and even when she goes with friends I'm always brought back a curry wurst and schnitzel with spatezel. Always a friendly environment and the staff dress in German wears to give it that realistic feel.

Amazing and what a hidden gem on our road trip down south. I love it when I find a good German spot as those are so hard to find. Price is reasonable and not exorbitant like NYC. Beers were great. Pickled cabbage was very refreshing. Their staff was soo friendly. Food was fresh and made to order. The slice of cake compliment the meal at the end very well. There's outdoor space and I can see it be a popular spot in the summer.

We've lived in Germany, so we are highly critical of restaurants that are German. There aren't many here in Maryland that are decent, even though there used to be a very large German population here. I'm usually so disappointed with those restaurants that profess to be German that I end up making the food myself because mine is constantly good. I also had a good teacher....my Nanny who was first generation here in this country. With that said, we visited Prost since it was another German restaurant we had not tried. It's a fairly long ride from our home, however for good German food, it did not necessarily disappoint. The restaurant itself is sort of like a bierhalle and there is a traditional Biergarten out back. We were offered seating out there, but selected to eat inside at one of the booth tables that they have (stammtisch). Very nice atmosphere and large facility. We were showed the specials upon entering. I expected more of a German flair....avocado toast, well maybe it's being eaten in Munchen, but I can have that here....so I got lost on that one. We had a very attentive server the whole time we were there, so no complaints. Hubby ordered pork schnitzel Jaeger style with spatzle and I got schweinhaxn which I selected a bread dumpling and red cabbage. I was expecting good things. Hubby's dish was spot on. Spatzle was tender and they gave it a little fry. Pork schnitzel was cooked perfectly with a little crunch. I was very happy with my dumpling and red cabbage. I missed getting the crunchy fat cap on my schweinhaxn. We are able to get it at the other restaurant we dine at, however it's a 24 hours before coming request. It was nice just to be able to get it on demand. The meat was tender and flavorful, served in a lovely gravy! Just missed the fat that makes schweinhaxn so wonderful! We split a apple strudel for dessert which did not disappoint. Bill wasn't crazy for what we ordered. We will try it again in time. I got lost with the specials and no fat cap on the meat, which I know is possible to get, so that's why I went with a four star. Oh, we did get a pretzel app. That was tasty. Needed German mustard, not the American yellow stuff for hot dogs. All staff we encountered were wonderful!

It's so nice to have some variety here in Aberdeen. I came for a quick bite and ended up getting the flying pig wings w/ the boozy sauce which is as good as they make it sound, fall of the bone tender. I also got the fries, and dinner roll which were sooo good with the butter! To top the meal off I tried one of the wines and I'm happy to say I loved it. They have plenty of seating so bring the family. Personally I know I'll be back and I'll be bringing friends!

First visit here, my Brazilian friend wanted authentic German food. The restaurant looks very authentic. The ambiance is beautiful, wooden beer tables and benches, German Schlager music. As a Bavarian, I was hopeful. The Service was amazing. Faith is a sweetheart and everyone else was also very attentive and kind. 5 stars for the Service team. We got the big pretzel appetizer and it was good. The pretzel was warm and soft and had the right amount of salt. My friend had the Jägerschnitzel with fries and she loved it. The fries were very delicious, easily some of the best we ever had. My food was a different story. In all fairness, I am a Bavarian girl from Munich so I kind of knew that I probably should have gone with the Currywurst to save myself from disappointment but I stupidly went with the Schweinebraten mit Knödel (dumplings). While the pork roast was ok and the sauce was not too bad, the dumplings were inedible. Furthermore I have never seen an uglier Knödel. It had the consistency of play doh and the color of Christmas cookie dough. You see, a true Kartoffelknödel should have a light yellow color and once you cut it with a knife if falls apart and melts in your mouth. I think we will be back to try the sausages but I would advise to stay away from the dumplings since they are not at all what you would expect from a Bavarian Knödel. The first two pictures are from Prost and the last picture is a Schweinebraten mit Knödel in my parents house in Bavaria. If you ever had a good Knödel you know they are heavenly.

We stopped in for a weekday lunch recently. The ambiance brings you right into Germany. We tried a variety of things. Started with the pretzel and beer cheese - I thought it would be served warm but it was cold. Pretzel was good. The spread was better as a leftover the next day after the flavors had blended. The sausage sampler was really good to get a variety as I'm not too familiar with German food - served with plenty of German potato salad and sauerkraut. The show stopper was the Chicken schnitzel - soooo good. We got one too go. The bread dumplings and potato dumplings were not my favorite - artificial tasting and contained too much thickener so they were jiggly. They were out of the apple strussel so we didn't get to try that sadly. Our server was a nice young blonde woman who really knew the menu well!

This is a fun German themed restaurant with fairly good food. We started with the pretzel. It is just a frozen pretzel. There is nothing special about it or the mustards they serve with it. I had the Sauerbraten as an entree. This was a very large portion and was fairly well executed. The gravy was indeed sour but only just enough so. It had a nice balance of fat and sweetness. The beef was just slightly dry but still was manageable on the bite. The dumplings were standard large dumplings. They were soft and tasty, but primarily flour.

This is the German restaurant that we used to go to in Port Deposit, MD. Apparently, they moved in 2020 but then Covid hit. It used to be a Moose Lodge. They have it painted light blue. It doesn't look like much on the outside but it's absolutely gorgeous on the inside and the food is amazing! I had Jager Schnitzel with Spatzle noodles and my dad had a pork roast with gravy, potato dumpling and Sauerkraut. Yummy! Their desserts are homemade and fresh! We chose the chocolate mountain cake! Wow! Service was fantastic. The place is gorgeous and there is an accordion player on Saturday nights. It's easy to get to. Right off of RT 40 as you turn to go to Aberdeen but left instead of right . Across from Aberdeen Fire Station. Highly recommend the restaurant and food! Oh and the bar area is gorgeous too with German beers and wines.

During these Covid times one of the big deals about restaurant is take out appeal. Prost did an excellent job of putting my dishes together so I could plate and enjoy as if I ate there. I ordered a bratwurst dinner (with sauerkraut and potatoes) and it was good. I also ordered a Jager Schnitzel plate which came with spatzle. They gravy was packaged separately therefore preserving the crunchy outside until I decided to smother it. Good Food; good service and a beautiful and clean restaurant (next time i'll dine in). I wish them much success.

Tasty German food and a great beer selection. The new location is spacious with traditional beer garden style seating (bench tables with mixed groups sitting together). The staff is friendly and will show you the daily specials that aren't listed on the menu. Not everything is rosy though. Our daily soup special of Cream of Mushroom soup had exactly 1 mushroom for 2 servings. It was tasty for mushroom flavored cream but it lacked any substance. Also, the table cloths are not changed between guests. If something is spilled it's sprayed with a cleaner and scrubbed off leaving you with a wet spot of chemical cleaner. Will definitely go back for the food and beer. read more

Waited a long time before traveling there. Greatly disappointed. Their "specials". (Real cooked food, probably two days old, we're laid out on a table and "described" by a kid whom you could hard,y understand. ) Coming from a family of grandfather professional German cook, and my own mother who was excellent, was disappointed by the food here. Nice try, but far, far from really delicious German fare. Half the dessert were not available. We were told there were large groups the day before, so desserts were sold out. My Apple strudel was very mediocre. Oh well, "been there, done that." read more

Fantastic German food. Delicious. This was the best place I ate while visiting Aberdeen. Outside area is great, well spaced, and well attended. Food was not quite homemade/authentic but like the touristy places you find in Germany. Still very very good and worth a visit. Dessert was great too (hot Apple strudel with ice cream). Beer list is great and not just the typical German brands. If you're still reading, just go already. read more

Just visited their new location in Aberdeen. It has a wide open dining area with plenty of room between tables. The German beers are some of make favorites. My wife had the half chicken with spatzle. The seasonings were perfectly done. I had the pork shank which was out of this world and would highly recommend. I will be visiting their restaurant many times in the near future. I used to love coming here, the food was good and the service was equal to the cost of dining. Now, not so much... 6-18-23, probably my last visit. Service was lacking, food timing was very poor, food quality was subpar. Room temp brats floating in sauerkraut juice, meals staged 5 minutes apart, (party of 5), and no offer to refill empty drinks by the waitress who clearly didn't scan the table. Just depressing. I suppose it's a sign of the times, good help is in short supply...but the same will be true of good customers. read more

I hate writing bad reviews because I know how hard the restaurant industry can be. But last night was my worst restaurant experience in many, many years. First, they would not take reservations for four people. OK, weird but we decided to proceed. We arrived last evening and were seated in the bar at 7:30pm. We were moved to a regular table at 8:15pm. Our food did not come out until 10pm. We were walking out as they brought out the meal, finally. Servers and even the owner came out to apologize. It was very unpleasant and uncomfortable. All of our food and drink was on the house. My only positive: I ate my leftovers this afternoon for lunch and I have to say that the food is really very good. But it was still sad to drive from Baltimore to Aberdeen and to have to wait so long for what would have been a good meal had it arrived 1-1/2 hours earlier. Needless to say, we will not be back. read more

Pretty decent German food. The restaurant appears to be new and the staff was friendly and well trained. Dishes are a bit overpriced (around $17). This one for example had very little meat. The food was good, but not great. With a bit of tweaking on the menu and the kitchen this place would be very good. read more

While my wife and I were traveling, we fortunately stumbled upon this gem. Not only is the food amazing, but also very authentic. I've never had sauerkraut that was this terrific!... I'm in love! Every bite we ate was better than the last. The service was friendly and cheery. The German outfits the servers wear make for a fun atmosphere. Great for the whole family. A definite must try! read more

We have driven past this place a billion times on our way to the beach and didn't stop in until recently. Now we are kicking ourselves for missing the opportunity all those years! I had a generous sausage platter with perfect potato salad and sauerkraut. My husband had the jager schnitzel and it was perfectly fried but not greasy. The prices aren't super cheap but the portions are huge and you get a very full meal out of it. The beer list was very long-mostly bottled but tons of variety if that is your thing. The music was a trip--mostly German covers of pop songs and kept us entertained. Plus it is just over 10 minutes from Havre de Grace which has limited dining options. Worth the short trip north. read more

New to the area and have not had any good German food in awhile. Had to pull in. The pretzel came out overly salty, but it was warm and soft, served with the cheese dip that made it tasted and hard to not put down. Gizmo had he Schnitzel with the breaded pork cutlet was great. The gravy was so good, she was dipping her bread in to sop it off the plate. I had the knackwurst with sauerkraut and German potato salad. The knackwurst was delicious and tasted almost like a high end hotdog. The sauerkraut was on the sweet side and the potato salad was the best I have had in along time. Definitely going back and definitely going to be ordering something else that we are sure will be delicious. read more

I ordered a cake and provided specific instructions, specifically apricot filling and butter cream icing. I called about five days prior to picking up the cake to see if there were any issues. I was told the cake was done and asked if anyone called me. I said no. The person I spoke with said they called several times. I checked my "call log" on my cell phone and no calls from the restaurant (FAILURE). When I picked up the cake, I saw there were sprinkles on the side. I never ordered sprinkles. The person who brought me the cake said that is how they make their cakes. The person who took my order FAILED to inform me of this. When we tasted the cake, the icing was not butter cream. Again, another FAILURE. The only thing good about the cake was the apricot filling. I wasted a lot of money. We threw out the cake. It was very bad. DO NOT ORDER CAKES FROM THIS RESTAURANT. read more

The food is great and authentic, which is what I was looking to experience. The staff starting with the owners Rick & Renate to Nance, Gina, Marika, Victoria, McKyla, Sky and I know I'm forgetting some but the entire crew is awesome. Prost is an excellent choice if you are in the mood to experiment and try something different! They have an excellent spread of German beers that they will let you sample before you buy. The decor and atmosphere is amazing and the establishment is always very clean. They always have specials which they have made for you to look at when you go in to be seated. If you are from Germany they might not have the exact thing you are looking for but they do come close. My father grew up in Frankfurt and has been trying for years to find pommes frites that come close to what he remembers. They also have a delicious selection of desserts! Overall eating here is always a good experience. Great atmosphere, great food and good service. I'm very excited for the new Aberdeen location to open up! We will definitely be dining there very frequently. read more

Prost is a Restaurant unlike anything else around! From the food to the atmosphere, everyone is encouraged to feel like they are a part of the family! You will frequently hear people singing, laughing, standing up giving cheers, and having a good time. There are private booths and group booths where you can sit with other people while you eat (similar to the American way of eating at a bar). There is a full bar with a re-corking license. I like that I can buy a full bottle of wine and then take home whatever I don't finish. I was completely unfamiliar with German food before Prost. Everything is excelent. I would recommend the Jager Schnitzel or maybe one of the sausage platters if you don't have the German food pallette just yet. It looks like the Bier Garden will be open soon and once they start having their Oktoberfests it will definitely be an awesome place to spend an afternoon or evening with friends and family! read more

Great food, but definitely not for vegetarians. My meal didn't look large when it arrived, but it was heavy and very filling. Everyone in my party of 4 loved what they got. My only complaint was that it took a long time for our food to come, and we were there early when they weren't busy. read more

"Prost " is the Bavarian dialect for "cheers" and represents a very good time with family and friends. The hosts and proprietors, Richard and Renate Baruschka, are natives of Bavaria-Germany. Combined, we have over 50 years experience in German cuisine! We pride ourselves in giving our guests an experience in a unique and traditional Bavarian and German atmosphere. If you have any special requests or suggestions, please let us know. Aside from satisfying you as a valued customer, we would like to gain new friends! Hi Karen the move has not taken place yet. We will close the Port Deposit location on January 31/2020 our new location in Aberdeen will be open in the second week of February

The main reason for going here was that it was a reasonably close German restaurant to where we live. My 79yo mother was delighted with the atmosphere. I'm not sure if they always have live music, but there was an accordion player there tonight (Saturday). Unlike many live music situations, this live music was a pleasant background for atmosphere. The food was very good. We shared the Flying Pigs appetizer. My mom had the Weiner Schnitzel with schpetzle for her main course. My friend and I shared the Wurst Platter for Two. It certainly wasn't the worst. In face, it was the best assortment of sausages I have ever had. Oh, don't miss the sauerkraut. It is out of this world, even if you aren't a sauerkraut fan. It tastes unlike any other. We also tried their special drinks. The favorite for us was the Apple Strudel Martini. The Nutella Cocktail was rather tasty also. My only complaint is the prices are a bit on the high side. Not by a lot. Actually, the main courses are fairly priced for the portion sizes. However, the appetizers, sides, and drinks are overpriced. Because of this, next time (and there will likely be many "next times") we will skip the apps and specialty drinks. Beer or soda and the main course will be our order. I also want to give a shout out for the service. Our waiter, Clif, was great. Very personable and knowledgable. He was also very authentic as I heard him speaking fluent German with guests at another table. Going back soon! read more

We went in on a Saturday night this weekend! Busy is an understatement-line out the door. However, staff kept us very informed and they checked on us often about drinks and such. We were more than happy to wait over an hour for an obviously home cooked meal inGerman style. Lots of times food is rushed and meals go by so fast. We enjoyed the extra time chatting and awaiting our dinner. Our server kept apologizing about our wait time but it was so obvious how hard everyone was working and rushing around- that we would wait longer on a Saturday night. Don't understand people being upset waiting over an hour for a meal when you go to Bel Air or White Marsh and wait much longer. You want a shorter wait-don't go out on a Saturday night. "I'm sensing a lot of anger in the review below and I know that you probably didn't mean to let loose all your anger on us. Maybe, sometimes you just need to vent like you did on your other 99% NEGATIV Yelp reviews. We'd still like to be friends, we'd love if you afforded us the opportunity to change your opinion of us and hope that you will return to Prost someday. Amazing German Flair My wife and I discovered this German Restaurant on our way to Delaware in 2016. It is the best German Restaurant I know around in our area if there is a seat available on a Saturday evening with an Accordion player walking around the restaurant. We like to find authentic places away from the regular tourist traps. They make everything fresh and with a little kick if you like! We were addicted after our first visit. I had the Swiene Haxen and my wife the Jager Shnitzle with house made noodle absolutely delicious! The portions are generous and the flavors delight your senses.
