I'm always looking for healthy options, especially after a good workout because I don't want to completely negate the tears I shed while trying to burn some extra calories. I want to make sure that my body gets the nutrients it needs, satisfy my sweet tooth, and not take in too many bad things. The first time I tried Protein Lab, I went for the Pitaya Bowl. I got the smaller size and it was definitely plenty for me to feel satisfied. The pitaya bowl is pitaya blended with apple juice, pineapples and banana, and then topped with granola, strawberries, bananas and agave syrup. It was good, and very reasonably priced. The location is fairly new, so it was pretty empty when we went there. They have some pretty interesting shakes on their menu as well. I love that they have a new take on the traditional protein shake that we all sometimes try to choke down after a workout. These look enjoyable, and I'll definitely have to try it sometime. The décor is everything basketball, and everything Kobe. The staff was pretty friendly when we walked in, although it did take a little longer than I thought it would for our bowls to come out. All in all, it was a good experience, and I don't have any reason to not come back here and fulfill my sweet tooth without feeling too guilty about it. read more

My acai bowl was okay but a bit pricey for a small (too me at least) and the taste wasn't the greatest, it was good but not great enough for me to return. I have only tried their Açaí bowl so I can only speak for that food wise but omg it is so gooood! Their açaí is so smooth and they usually have granola under the açaí and on top as well and it's so amazing! They only use strawberry and banana though for their whole fruit toppings, which is a little bit of a bummer ( I'm used to getting strawberries, bananas, and blueberries ) but nonetheless it's so freaking good! I get full and energized and feel like I can conquer my day! In terms of decor and the place itself, they really put some time into representing sports. There is a giant wall on the way to the bathroom dedicated to Kobe Bryant and it is pretty sweet lol read more

This is such a cute place! I'm so glad I stopped by here after school. Protein lab offers signature shakes, bowls, meal prep, and some protein snacks as well. This cool little place is essentially sports or physical activity themed. They even have a pull up bar challenge for a free size upgrade on your order! The kobe wall and selfie mirror are also in the back of the store, which is like a IG/Snapchat trap haha. Shakes: I got the Swish, my friends got the warrior, and mint conditioning. I really liked the swish! It tastes like captain crunch haha, and it's too overly sweet. Warrior is on the sweeter and fruitier side. Mint conditioning wasn't as minty as I thought, but that's a good thing. I didn't want to taste an overpowering mouth full of mint. Each shake has protein in it and can keep you pretty full! I was able to work out running on the shake as a preworkout meal. I haven't tried the bowls yet but will update my review when I do! Staff: super nice and super friendly! Can I choose no stars? Anyway, I didn't have a good first experience. Good customer service is lacking. Their attitude seemed as though they were doing me a favor. I asked if they can replace milk with almond milk, the guy responded something like, it's on the menu board. He even cheered on my boyfriend while he was doing his pull-ups for their pull up challenge. Iris who made my smoothie was super sweet as well and even gave my boyfriend the leftovers! DRINK: WARRIOR: 10/5. NO EXAGGERATION. This shake was so damn delicious. Thick and creamy but not too thick and not too creamy. The granola and cinnamon taste was definitely there and it was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. I like my drinks sweet too. 20 grams of protein in my shake and I got a large. My go to drink! ACAI BOWL: ACAI: 5/5. Got the original acai bowl and my boyfriend was able to do 20 pull ups so we got the free upgrade! For some reason, their granola just tastes amazing. I've had plenty of granola before and my favorite has always been the little bunches you get in Honey Bunches of Oats cereal but I think Protein Lab might've stolen it's spot. Topped off with honey, bananas and strawberries too. The protein shakes here are some of the best I've had. They're thick and creamy and protein packed. I loved that they had the protein powder I use which is by intek nutrition. So good! Definitely recommend if you wanna go get your protein fix or don't have time/resources like a blender when on the go! read more

Their açaí bowl are amazing! The açaí blend is thick in texture and full of flavor, they also put granola on the bottom and top... uhhh WINNING!! The only reason it's not a 5 star rating is because I wish there was more fruit given... you get at most 1/2 of a small banana and 2 strawberries cut up. You can also participate in their pull up challenge and upgrade a size up for free if you do 12 pull up for the girls and 20 for the guys. Ambiance is cool but some of the workers aren't as friendly/welcoming as the others... parking is easy and location is small and tucked away in the back. Love this location but they have the annoying habit of making you wait extra long for your drink. Let me back up, due to Covid, you're not allowed to wait inside the store. So you order then step outside which I'm fine with. But then I noticed on more than one occasion that they'll bring out my drink along with the person who ordered AFTER me. Maybe they had two workers making drinks and they just happened to be done at the same time but what's more likely is that my drink sat there and I waited extra time so that they only had to make one trip outside. Everyone who works at this place is ripped, they can make an extra trip out the door to get me drink...it's not a big deal but it's a matter of common courtesy. read more

This place had been on my list for a while, and I'm not sure why after eating here. I tried really hard to like it, but every bite of my bowl was sad and painful. Maybe I should have tried a smoothie but whatever, I had a bowl and I regret it. First off, I ordered a taro bowl because most smoothie bowls use real ingredients or so I thought. It sounded weird, but it also sounded unique, and I like mashed taro dessert things. My visions of eating a mashed taro bowl was crushed when it was just blended powder. You mean I paid the price of a smoothie bowl for a taro boba essentially? Then, I noticed my "large" taro bowl was way smaller than my friend's "regular" pitaya bowl. This just seemed odd... and I felt pretty ripped off initially.. After eating it, I was thankful my bowl was smaller. Taste, well, just like I thought, tasted like a generic powder taro boba. Not sure if it's a 'Protein Lab' thing, but my bowl was super gooey. At first I thought it was just me, but my friends who ordered the matcha and pitaya bowls also thought their bowls were gooey too. When that's all said and done, shouldn't these bowls come with some protein or something? I'm not too sure about the layout of this spot either. The seats are kind of randomly sprinkled throughout in the weirdest fashion - bar with 3 stools, a sofa, then a bench facing a row of chairs. Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't seem very inviting nor well designed. If you want a better smoothie bowl and to be able to sit comfortably and enjoy it, you might have better luck at the nekter across the street. read more

I chose to stick with the original Acai Bowl which came with a bottom and top layer of granola, strawberries, bananas, and a drizzle of agave. Our bowls took a lil time being that there were no other customers in the shop but it wasn't that long. I got the regular sized bowl and it was just the perfect size. I did not know there was açaí near Rowland Heights but I am so happy to see there is one and it is delicious! The place is small and kind of hard to find. However the search is worth it! Protein Lab is located right next to Trader Joe's so if you are wondering where, it's there. I bought the Hermosa bowl which is packed with good stuff. It comes with a lot of each ingredient and a regular bowl filled me up real good! Their açaí is really special and it tastes different than other ones I've had in the past. It's a little tart and a bit of floral notes. The other bowls on the menu looked really good too and their protein smoothies looked really good too. The service was great, the food was delicious, there wasn't a line per se but you can definitely tell that they are a popular spot, but the one problem I had was with the price. The price is average for most protein shakes and bowls compared to other places so I may just be biased since I also make them at home for far cheaper. YASSSS. Everything about this place is perfect. I yelped acai bowls near my apt this morning and protein lab caught my eye. The reviews were awesome and the aesthetic of the place was completely my style (sup Kobe wall). I stopped in and was immediately greeted by the staff. The girls were all super friendly and helpful in answering my questions about their bowls and smoothies! I ended up getting a large acai bowl (stuck half in my freezer for tomorrow!). I've had acai bowls at a few different places in the area and I have to say: this is by far my favorite! I really loved that there weren't a ton of crazy add ons and the flavors really came through. The texture was also perfect. For the health conscious/macro counters they do have nutrition info available- Perfect for those trying to stay on track. I also noticed lots of healthy/organic ingredients behind the counter so you know they're not cutting any corners. Love the design of the place- the Kobe wall was awesome and you can even rip a few selfies next to it in their selfie mirror while you wait. I'll definitely be back, probably within the week. The acai bowl (I always just get the original) is so good! The acai is thick and not overly sweet. And they have two layers of granola so the ratio is perfect throughout! You can add more toppings if you want, but I like what they give :) Sometimes, I substitute the banana for blueberries if I want more berries~ I always crave acai bowls from time to time, and the options in OC are pretty spread out. Firstly, they have excellent customer service. The manager (young Latina I believe), and the young Asian girl working with her.. they are fantastic. They greeted me with a smile. Their açaí bowls are amazing and their GOAT puts up a good fight with Robeks' 800lb gorilla for half the price.
