I recently placed an order for pickup from Providence Coal Fired Pizza for an event. The day prior, I called and placed my order. The staff member who took my order was friendly and repeated my order to confirm accuracy. I ordered the Mixed Greens Salad ($10), Baby Bella PZ ($23), Rocket PZ ($23), and Pepperoni PZ ($22). On the day of the event, I went to Providence Coal Fired Pizza at 12:15pm to pickup my order. There were people already sitting at the bar and a table was occupied though they just opened 15 minutes ago. My pizzas were ready and at a shelf by the cashier. I asked about my salad and the staff member went to grab it. All my friends enjoyed the salad and pizza. The Baby Bella PZ had cremini and oyster mushrooms, ricotta, mozzarella, and finished with truffle oil. If you love mushrooms as much as I do, you will definitely enjoy this pizza. The Rocket PZ is a margherita pizza topped with arugula and pecorino. This was also very very good. I enjoyed the freshness of arugula. I didn't have a chance to try the Pepperoni PZ, but that was the first pizza to be finished. I usually don't eat the crust of pizza because it's too hard, but no one had anything left of their plate. It was all consumed.
Stopped in for a bite after a Sundays matinee at PPAC. Two adults two teen girls. All were very happy! We got caprese and brussel sprouts for apps and they were super tasty! We also got 3 pizzas and had enough for everyone to take a little bit as left overs. The server was friendly and quick! Overall good time!
Ok burnt really bland soggy pizza; after asking about it, they replaced it after seeing the bottom was blackened as well; Parm dip also really bland and not really dip-able, but loved the fresh (bland) flatbread! Best thing was the pickles! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really stuffy, humid, hot restaurant on a breezy day. Would have loved to have sat outside instead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Really helpful server!
The pizza here is always amazing. The crust has great flavor , nice and crispy texture. I love sauce because it's savory and not sweet like many pizza sauces . They also don't over sauce pizzas . I love the cup pepperoni, the ends get super crunchy and they are spicy. Service is always very friendly, but it is a little slow because they are so crowded. There is a long wait for food at times . It took over an hour to get two pizzas. But their pizzas are worth the wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While this place is usually crowded, its acoustics are good , so you can sit and have a nice conversation with people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
First time here and will not be the last time. Had dinner with a friend before we went to PPAC for a show. The establishment was super busy but the staff was attentive and made it look easy on such a busy afternoon. Drinks came out first and we were perfect not too strong. Our food came out hot and everything tasted amazing. Portion size was good for the two of us. Can't wait to bring family inventory love flatbread.
My toughest challenge as a native Rhode Islander is finding a great pizza spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]PVD Coal Fire has a rustic and upscale charm to it, making them a going-out spot rather than a "order out and eat the whole box on the couch in sweats" type restaurant to me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I mean that in a good way because everyone needs a go-to spot for date nights. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This downtown Providence location is perfect before a PPAC show and for fueling your cheesy cravings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE coal-fired pizza - definitely take your preferences into account if you're not a charred crust fan. We've tried a good amount of their specialty pizzas, like the Taco, Meat Lovers, BBQ Chicken, the Conrad and Four Cheese. I would rather eat those five pizzas in one sitting than answer which one was my favorite. If I HAD to choose... ... It would be the Taco pizza! I strongly gravitate towards fun and out-of-the-box options, making this specialty a winner in my books. If a beef chili base, Monterey Jack cheese, cumin sour cream, Frito's and scallion combo doesn't scare you, it might become your favorite too. As far as appetizers go, the bruschetta pomodoro was awesome and the house pesto packed tons of flavor. The coal-fired wings were okay. Unfortunately, the charred chicken tasted too dry to me. However, I did like the roasted onions sprinkled on top. Overall, I recommend bookmarking PVD Coal Fire for your next meal.
Stopped by for dinner on a casual Thursday. Was surprised to know we could order 2 kinds of pizzas in one, loved that. Loved the thin crust. Efficient and friendly service, and the pizza came out pretty quickly. I'll be back to try more from the menu. I saw another table with salads and they looked big and tasty.

Staff was friendly and service was good (but we were sad our waitress forgot to tell us about the Thanksgiving dinner seasonal pizza!). Food reviews: -picked vegetables: too spicy! Maybe that's what Chicago style means? -beet & goat cheese salad: excellent!! -clam pizza: also excellent! Crust wasn't too thin and it wasn't too clammy. Wish we would have known you could do half and half because we would have loved to try another (maybe add that to the menu for future?) Also had two tasty drinks that I forget the names of. Would recommend for a good pizza stop in downtown Providence!
$20? Come on, man. That's crap. Was the pizza good? It was passable. I had to add salt because the sauce lacks flavor. Was the server good? Yes. My server was attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance? A one hole pisser/shitter, a large bar, and down town Providence location--you pay real estate property, not pizza.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Read my other pizza reviews from across Europe. I know what a good pizza price is. Ok pizza, too expensive.
The wings are great here! Always served piping hot. I brought some pizza "experts" here tonight and they loved the pies. We shared the Conrad, Meatball, 4 Cheese and Margherita pizzas. My favorites are the Conrad and 4C. Service was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat at the bar tonight. The pizza tasted delicious as everything tasted fresh. My holiday cocktail was a perfect spin for Valentine's Day. The bartender/server was friendly and got us our drinks right away. But the downside of how busy it was, we waited an hour to finally get our pizza. We were on a time crunch as we had other plans as well. As soon as the pizza came, we asked for the check at the same time - we ate it quickly since we were super hungry and paid so we can leave as soon as we could. I would go again, but trying to avoid the busy days.

Ordered delivery and it was pretty good!! We loved the pizza, the wings were alright. Maybe more seasoning or a dipping sauce would've helped, but overall it was good. Would definitely get the pizza again if we go back, but just a different side! read more
I'd heard about this spot for a while so my expectations were high. They didn't disappoint but also didn't blow me away. The sauce is pretty average but those four cheeses are amazing (each and every one of 'em). Super rich and delicious. It's a bit on the expensive side (at least from ordering on door dash). I'd go again and get this and probably try the margherita as well. read more
O MG. Absolutely fantastic! We made reservations through open table and I HIGHLY suggest doing that. It gets PACKED and the wait can be upwards of an hour. Our waiter was wicked attentive and cleared plates and replenished drinks without asking. LOVE that. Tonight we tried the four cheese and The Conrad and a tossed salad with red wine vinaigrette. CUSTOM MADE TO YOUR ORDER*!!!!! *if you ordered inedible lumps of coal. During this quarantine season, we are supporting local businesses once a week. This week, we had the ultimate misfortune of picking Providence Coal Fired Pizza. Heavy emphasis on coal, because that is all you can taste. We ordered the following: Coal flavored margherita pizza Coal flavored Conrad pizza And, finally, coal flavored coal fired wings topped with coal flavored onions. You get the point. Business was clearly slow, only one other customer picking up an order. There's no reason for the disappointing quality. I wouldn't even be mad at the cost ($53 for 2 pizzas and side orders wings) if it was at least edible. read more

We went back to enjoy some new offerings, namely the new Braised Short Rib pizza along with their Pepperoni Pizza. Unfortunately, that new pizza did disappoint as it was covered in greens and just had an awkward taste. Came on a Sunday night and there was plenty of seating available. They feature unique pizzas which are good enough to eat by yourself if you're starving or split among two people. Service was average. 1. Clam / Margharita - Clam was delicious, oily though but it is a white pizza. Margharita was average and what you'd expect. Overall, I'd only come back for special occasions or with a group of friends but recommend that you try this place at least once. read more

Their pizza has a tangy sauce, crispy crust, and plenty of different toppings to choose from; however, pizza is not the only item that is coal fired. Their coal fired chicken wings are a must, smokey, meaty, crispy, and topped with savory caramelized onions. Providence Coal Fired Pizza has a full bar with an impressive craft beer list. An upscale ambiance with ample seating for large groups. I have only been to the Providence location and it can get real busy so making reservations is a must, also the parking can be a nightmare but that is common for dining in downtown Providence. read more
I love this restaurant. We usually go when we have a show at Trinity or sometimes at Providence Performing Arts Center. We were going to see a Christmas Carol at Trinity and brought my aunt and my niece here. It was just so good and they were delighted with their selections. Of course you have to get the chicken wings with the caramelized onions on them because there is nothing like them. We ordered a margarita pizza and the special which had prosciutto and figs and cheese and was absolutely delicious. My aunt had never had pizza like that and she was amazed at what they could do with pizza. Great service and we look forward to the next time. read more

Well so far we are NOT off to a good start! Sitting and waiting for our waitress that's outside chatting with an outside table that came after us! So far a two start deal here on service. So our hostess came and we asked for some water at least That would be nice since we walked over here! Then my hubby asked for a different server. So here free refills on iced tea. Good for him. So we ordered everything together. One lb of wings, Arugula salad and a pepperoni pizza. Let's go! He he Well when the salad and wings cAme our eyeballs popped out!! Wow looked fabulous!!! Everything tasted soooo good. He actually ordered a side of onions also. The wings had such a nice rosemary flavor but NOt overpowering too. I could have ate just wings!!! Then the pizza. Oh yeah baby.. also the best of the best. Ok so the food turned out to be a five star from a wait service 2 star. I'm glad we had a different waitress Liana!! She just kept coming. Well oiled machine. Too bad now we are leaving town. But we will remember this place fondly. Next time here we will be coming here for sure. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Is it a lifechanging restaurant? No, I mean it is pizza after all ... but it has become one of my favorite pizza places. Food I've tried: (* = my favorite) - MEATBALL PIZZA ($21): I loved that this pizza had little mounds of ricotta on it, as the creaminess pairs well with the crunch of the crust. The crust is perfectly thin, which balances well with the topping, and the sauce is not overly sweet. The meatballs had a perfect amount of seasoning (not too heavy), and it allowed me to enjoy the other flavors of the pizza. - BABY BELLA PIZZA* ($20): this was the most surprising of the menu. As soon as you bite into it, you get a wonderful aroma of truffle oil that pairs amazingly well with the mushroom flavor. The truffle flavor goes away halfway through the munching process so as not to be overwhelming. Like the meatball pizza, the other elements of the pizza (the dough, crust, sauce) were great as well. - COAL FIRED WINGS ($16 - 1 lb): they taste like a healthier version of fried chicken. The chicken itself is very crispy as the skin is charred (in a good way) with a lot of smoky flavor. The meat is a bit on the drier side, but I did appreciate that it came with a mountain of caramelized onions which paired well with the flavor. - BRUSSEL SPROUTS ($9): I loved that this dish stayed true to the brussel sprout flavor. Unlike other places, it wasn't mixed in with a lot of sauce and it was not overly seasoned. Like the wings, it had a lovely smoky flavor. Atmosphere: - When I visited, the restaurant was pretty empty so it was nice and quiet. Service: - Very friendly waiter Overall: - Great charred flavor especially in the appetizers. Price is pretty standard for a sit down pizza place, a bit pricier than takeout pizza ... but you can't really compare the flavor of takeout pizza to this place. read more

It's hit or miss here as far as getting a table, but if you do get one without a reservation, be prepared for goodness. It is expensive if you have a regular job and a family and all that which is why we treat this place as a special occasion. Therefore, I appreciate the food more. The pizzas are it's amazing. A simple pepperoni pizza is spectacular as the pepperoni isn't what you just grab at stop and shop (hopefully not while they're on strike...never cross a picket line) and the grease on the pepperoni tells you it's spectacular. This time I got a steak tip salad. The dressing was amazingly homemade and the salad was giant. Not a ton of steak but enough to feel satisfied. Drinks are always expensive so expect that. The service we received was great. I can't remember our waitress' name, but I do remember how she treated us and that's what important. Again, special night out with a reservation and you'll be set. And if you decide to wait, it'll be worth it. Get the wings to start. Can't explain it, just have to try them for yourself. I look forward to going again. read more
We got what we came for! Nice beer, comfortable spot for conversation, attentive wait staff (Kayla I think) and fun pizza. We had meats and other nice toppings coming out our ears! The Greek was especially good thanks to the kalamata olives and feta; even the simpler margarita was tasty. Looks like a great place for big groups and parties. Providence Coal Fired Pizza is consistently churning out great pies. If you don't want to wait you can snag a reservation on OpenTable, otherwise it may be a while because it's pretty popular. I love that they're so flexible with their pies--want to do a half white mushroom half margharita pizza? They'll do it no problem! Want to take a white pie and make it red? No problem. It makes it easy when you have a group and everyone wants something a little different. Pro tip, if it's cold out and you're starving they have a delicious tomato soup to start with. If you're sharing a salad to go with the pizza they have a house-made herb vinaigrette which is SUPER fresh and helps revitalize you with energy to finish your pizza (which should be why you're here in the first place anyways!) :P read more

My husband and I were caught in Providence during a Nor'easter and wanted to sample some local fare. Providence Coal Fired Pizza is right downtown and seemed warm and inviting on a cold New England day. Despite the storm, the place filled up almost immediately after opening -- always a good sign! PCFP had a lot of tasty sounding salads on the menu, and we decided to split the lentil entree salad as an appetizer. It was fresh, tasty and filling. They weren't lying when they called it an "entree". For lunch we split a half clam/half meatball pie. The clam, with fresh Rhode Island clams, was one of the better pizzas I've had in recent memory. The meatball was good as well, but it was outshined by the clam. Side note: This is coal fired pizza (hence the name) and the crust is supposed to be dark. Ignore all of those reviewers that claimed their pizza was burnt. That's the style, yo. I have no reason to go to Providence again, but I probably will make one up so that I can get a clam pie again. This place is delicious so wonder they have such great reviews!! The service waa a 4 because I felt as though our waiter was having a bad day and just wanted to go home which I get it so we just let that go. The food however was amazing! My co-workers got two pizzas and I shared wings and the bruchetta. The wings had a lot of onion on top so if you don't like onion, either don't get it or ask for them to take it out. The bruchetta was my absolute favorite. It's not the typical thinly sliced flat bread, it consists of 7 to 8 large slices the tips have pesto & garlic and the tomato dip sauce has slickes kf garlic in it as well.
