One of my regular breakfast stops when I'm in Southfield. Providence has a standard Coney Island menu, especially for breakfast. There's nothing special about the menu but the service and the food quality definitely makes Providence a step above the other Coney Islands. When you come in the staff is always warm and inviting. The food is delivered promptly. It's warm and very well prepared. After an early morning babysitting adventure with my grandson my first stop to fortify is Providence. The restaurant has carpet throughout. An update is much needed. I was able to look beyond the outdated decor, our server "Nicky" was absolutely nasty. To be a waitress she has ZERO personality. I'm pretty sure her rudeness was directed at me because she treated every male customer with some sense. I've been meaning to stop here for a while since it's right down the street from my house and finally did...now i've been 3 times in the last 2-3 weeks. First for breakfast, then for a salad, and most recently for a gyro...all carryout. The service has always been great and fast, the ladies behind the counter are friendly and interact well with the customers, you can tell they have lots of regulars. The food is always good and each time was ready when promised. Consider yourself warned though, the veggie omelette does NOT come with cheese. I'm so glad I asked, because whoever heard of an omelette without cheese? The chicken on the cheddar chicken salad was well seasoned. The salad was big enough for 2 meals. The gyro was good, too. The meat was tender, but I should have asked for extra sauce. I don't know what I'm going to get next time, but I'm sure it will be good. The waitress was very nice and friendly and the cook was fast but I ordered the fish and chips and chili cheese fries and it came with pita bread and coleslaw. The coleslaw was not fresh and smelled funny. The chili cheese fries were okay some were over cooked and hard but most of them were good. The pita bread tasted old stale and soggy and awful! Really bad. The hot sauce was very watery. Label said Red Hot Original but it didn't taste like it. I asked for lemon on the side and they don't give you enough lemon. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. The prices are STILL reasonable (even in this economy) which I appreciate. Food is always good. Portions good. I love the atmosphere. I've been coming here for months on my lunch break at work and I'm always satisfied. The wait staff is always pleasant. Warning!!!!Never come here!!!! they have molded hot dog buns that they are still being servered and rude employees there!!!! Also there is a fight amongst the employees and a regular;long read alert!!!! There is a young lady, light skinned and heavy set telling the cooks it's okay to serve molded bread!!! She said To pick around the mold. She claimed she was the manager. On December 6,2019 at approximately eleven I went in to treat myself after a stressful test. I always came here no matter what before they closed for renovations. After they opened I decided to pop in and get servers by one of my favorite servers there- azareae!!!! She is such an amazing server!!! She used to serve me at Applebee's!!! So I was definitely excited to get served by someone so great and eat some great food. However, upon arriving I was already disappointed by how these servers responded. When I went inside there was no greet. I didn't know where to go. I didn't know if I should be sat or not. I walked up to the front where you place Togo orders. The young lady did not acknowledge me being there. Instead she kept talking to another server. They both were light skinned. I had to speak first. When I said hello I'm here to sit in azareaes section she sighed as if she were tired of me being there. Then she told me in a very nasty manner- "well she don't come in until twelve". I said that's fine I'll sit and wait then(it was eleven). While I sat I was on the phone talking to my mother about very personal things. I kept my conversation quiet however because I noticed that the two light skinned girls kept walking past me looking at me(at the time I thought they were wondering why I was asking for my server) I didn't think nothing of it. Never once have they said excuse me ma'am ur being loud or anything which of course I was not! Once my server came in I stood up but before I could greeted her I got harassed by the young lady who I assumed was taking Togo, the heavier light skin one who said she was the manager. She accused me of coming up there to pick a fight with my server which was not at all the case. She told me she was listening in on my conversation? My server came over and told her that I was her regular but the young lady insisted I came there to start drama when In fact she was the one who was causing a commotion and getting loud. The smaller light skinned lady I guess who was her friend was telling me she heard me too. So at this point not only were you listening to my conversation, but now your making me feel very unwelcomed in an establishment I once called home. My server tried to tell them to drop it and I could sit and order when I was ready which I was trying to do. Instead of dropping whatever was upsetting this young lady, she kept goiNg on and on about how she's not finished with me-yes!!!! And that she heard what I was saying. She was telling me how I needed to leave and when I refusEd she said she could do that she wanted the managEr which of course I found out she was not. The ownEr was not there. When I called her bluff she finally admitted that there was someone ahead of her and that he would not do anything to her because she was his favorite and he would have done the same thing if she were here. She then threatened numerous of times that she was going to clock out and whoop my ass all while customers were in there trying to enjoy there brunch. Then she threatened to call the cops on me saying that I caused all the commotion when in fact she was the one to start drama. I would have thought that someone would stop the chaos but it seemed all the servers were going against me. I don't know who this owner is and why he allowed these brats to work under him or think it's okay to serve molded bread but this is beyond me! read more

I'm giving them 3 stars for now because they're just starting out. But what I can tell you is they make the best chicken noodle soup around. Love it. I've only had one bad incident with the chicken wings and I think they got them from someplace else rather than their usual vendor. Chili cheese fries are good but they need to be more consistent on the cheese--sometimes just right and then sometimes it's like where's the cheese. Greek salad was fabulous! I wasn't impressed with the coney dog at all. The meat was terrible, find another vendor, immediately!! Breakfast, need to work on the grits. Customer service? So glad they put a Coney island back in this spot. Friendly staff, very clean inside and the food was very good. Home made ranch is a bonus. Convenient for the people that work in the area such as providence hospital, fox news and oakland community college. Also nice and convenient for the students taking classes at the oakland community college campus in southfield since they don't have fresh food options. read more

Food is really great! Their mozzarella sticks, omelets, and pancakes are on point! Chicken lemon rice soup is my fav and their pita bread is so soft and fresh each time! Staff is extremely friendly, definitely coming back! read more
