We visited this restaurant on a Sunday morning for breakfast (they were actually serving a brunch menu though). They open their doors at 8am but they don't actually sit anyone in the dining room until 9am, essentially only bakery items are available during that one hour. They make all of their bakery items in house and they all look really good. The place is beautifully decorated with so much attention to detail everywhere. There's inside and outside seating but if they open up the dividing glass doors the place becomes one cozy yet airy, relaxing and inviting space. They have a counter at the front where people can sit and order food. That's also where the coffee drinks are made and where the bakery items are displayed. I was here once before just at the counter on a busy weekend afternoon and it took forever for someone to acknowledge me or even assist me with a to-go coffee drink. If you're interested in bakery items and/or coffee from the counter you better go early in the morning before the crowds arrive. Also, do not order their frappe unless you want to be served a disappointing weak latte. We opted to have their egg scramble dish (strapatsada) which is made with caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes and served along a small piece of baguette. At first glance it seemed like a small amount of food, but the dish was actually pretty filling and tasty. We also had the greek yogurt with granola, fruit and honey. It was a nice, sweet compliment to our breakfast. Their coffee drinks are served with a delicious koulouria (sweet cookie bread) which are really good and easy to over indulge on. Psomi is beautiful and has great food! All of their bakery items are amazing. The spanakopita is my favorite. We also got Cappucinos with baklava sauce. I have now been to PSMOI multiple times for brunch, dinner and takeout. It never disappoints. The food is always delicious and homemade. The atmosphere transport you straight to Greece. So many good things! Decor & setting is adorable you feel as if you are transported to a sweet cafe & courtyard somewhere in Greece. 1st time we went on a Sunday it was packed but got a coffee, piece of Baklava & glass of champagne while we waited. otable was available within 15 minutes. I'm actually in a state of amazement. My incredible experience at Psomi encouraged me to break my streak of Yelp reviewing laziness and this is my first review in almost 6 weeks. My friend reached out to me about going to lunch before the Christmas holiday and it came to mind that Psomi had recently opened (I've been watching it's progress everyday on my work commute) and thought she would be the perfect date since she loves Greek food. I pulled up around 1pm expecting no one to be there because it is brand new, North of Kennedy, and in an area completely removed from other restaurants but I was clearly mistaken. It was Grand Central Station up in there. The lot was overflowing, Cass had cars up and down on either side and I had to make a full 3 rotations around the block before finally finding a spot almost 3 blocks away. Upon exiting my vehicle, I could smell the heavenly scents coming from Psomi. I let my nose guide me there (much like Toucan Sam). There was a wait but luckily my friend had arrived earlier so we were seated promptly. The restaurant is gorgeous. They have a beautiful outdoor area as well as a beautiful indoor area. The space is light, soothing, and Mediterranean. Everything is clean and fresh and the bathrooms were impeccable with great design sense. The menu had so many great options, I literally had trouble picking but settled on the Greek Dip. When I tell you it was the best sandwich I have ever had, I am not exaggerating. The service was lovely and the prices were a bit high but not for the amount of food I was presented. Do yourselves a favor and get over there ASAP. Keep in mind, parking is a beast, they only do breakfast, brunch, and lunch, and there is a bakery for items to go. read more

I'm writing this review after 3 visits to Psomi. If I had written this review after 2 visits, it would have been different and favorable. Elena and Michael were great servers on previous visits. This was my 3rd visit for weekend brunch. My husband and I shared a couple of dishes, desserts on our previous visits and spent around $80 without drinks, so it's not an inexpensive weekend brunch. On our 1st visit, my husband and I ordered Latkes. Freshly grated potatoes...great...just leave the ketchup off the plate, please. On the next visit, we ordered Loukomades for dessert. Once again, delicious honey and walnuts. These are dishes we are accustomed to eating with our combined Mediterranean Jewish family backgrounds. On this visit, we met John who introduced himself as the owner's father. John and my husband chatted about their family roots in Greece. He then told us Psomi is not a traditional Greek restaurant which we kind of figured out on our 1st visit. Bagels and latkes in a Greek restaurant are surely non-traditional. John then told us that his family had never owned a restaurant before and then proceeded to tell us... "Not to brag" but he bought a house at the end of Bayshore Blvd. over 25 years ago and now owns 7 lots surrounding the property. Really??? On this visit I ordered Yemista (roasted tomato and green bell pepper stuffed with rice). While the menu states that the dish is served "at room temperature", the rice was cold. I spoke to John and asked if I could have it warmed. Cold rice stuffing isn't what I wanted. John said they didn't have a microwave (I applaud that) so he'd have to figure out how to heat the dish. In most good restaurants when someone is unhappy with the dish, the server or manager asks if they can get you something else. Not at Psomi. After a long wait during which my husband finished his meal, I just said "forget it ". John became dismissive and kept stating it's traditionally served at room temperature. So is Psomi non-traditional or traditional? Having grandparents that started a restaurant in the 1920's which my aunt and uncle then operated until they retired in the late 1980's, one thing I learned while working there as a teenager was "the customer is always right". If the paying customer isn't happy, let's see if there something else they may enjoy could have been suggested. I was going to treat my best friend to lunch at Psomi on Tuesday but not now, we'll go to her favorite restaurant in Hyde Park instead. read more

Wow, I'm not even sure where to begin... if you're a big foodie, this is the best new addition in The Tampa food scene. REAL, authentic Greek food, with a Mediterranean-inspired interior design, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Everything from the ambiance, the detail of every corner and every inch of this beauty is so immaculate. The owners really poured their heart and soul into this place. I'm Iranian myself and being familiar with Mediterranean homemade recipes from my family, every bite is cherished with a burst of real flavors, herbs.. not to mention, I've already been here four times in a row this week! Every time I walk in I'm welcomed by the incredible staff with a smile, the service is practically perfect, they make you feel as if you're "at home" in a sense. I would suggest sitting in the patio as well if you decide to just have a drink or cup of coffee with a pastry, aside from the restaurant at their bakery. I usually come in the mornings and grab a cup of their coffee at the bakery, great with almond or oak milk, very creamy and rich, which I love. Pair that if you're in a rush with a Spanakopita pastry, ask for it warmed up. The ratio of spinach and the cheese is 10/10, practically melts in your mouth surrounded by the soft, pillowy fresh-baked dough. My mouth is watering already. As for breakfast, I would suggest the strapatsada. It has caramelized onion, feta, roasted cherry tomato, and a buttered grilled baguette on the side. Simple, but the taste is a pop with the creamy feta, their portions are also fairly large sizes, also a plus. They have a build your own boat option, this is large enough to honestly share with the 3/4 people. It consists of house focaccia, feta, melted mozzarella on the puffed, soft dough, topped with a bed of arugula. You can add egg, which I personally loved. I shared some with my sister and honestly I had enough to take home too. I wish they were open for dinner, I have to try out their lunch soon, I can't say much other than the fact that this is Tampa's new gem. She is BEAUTIFUL, I recommend everyone to try out Psomi. PSOMI is a very beautiful eatery in the middle of the city. I was looking at some of the reviews and decided I must try. What a good choice I had made. I choose the marinated feta chicken salad. Field green's, shaved fennel, feta cheese, chicken, kalamata olives. Seasoned fries come with this salad. When I ask the waiter about the fries "I would always want the welcome surprise of fries with my salad." Sure but, I ate the fries first and was not really interested in eating the salad. It came home with me today in a to-go bag. Lunch with beverage was $21.00 They also have a very nice bakery selection. I purchased a large chocolate chip cookie, spinach pastry, cream pastry. Three pastries at $16.50. Parking can be challenging if you come during peak hours. read more

Just one word: OVERRATED. Quality of ingredients is outstanding but flavor is bland. It has potential but is not there yet.

Friends and I went this morning to catch up and have some good food. We hadn't been to psomi's since before the holidays and we were in for a surprise. Showed up and now the whole lot is valet. The valet (nice kid) said I could find on-street parking or go to the overflow lot a block away. Luckily I was able to find a spot on Cass. However, as I sat waiting for my friend I noticed that one of the valets had parked his own car right in front of the restaurant. Interesting that when spots are already really limited that the employees are permitted to park right in front of the restaurant. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive. The food, while good, is terribly expensive. Avocado toast for $17 is a bit extreme. Prices have gone up, we get it, but it just seems that perhaps psomi has increased a bit more than they should have. Unfortunately my group won't be back. It is a shame because it has been a favorite of ours but it just isn't worth it. read more

After coming to Psomi I needed to be carted our because the food was so good and decadent that I couldn't help but finish everything. I went with a friend on Sunday around 1pm. There is a little parking attached to the restaurant but more parking about a block away in a designated lot. A lot of the yards and neighboring houses had signs that there was no Psomi parking so pay attention. We made a reservation on Yelp and it was super easy! I would recommend doing this because it was very busy. This is such a cute place, it transported me right back to Greece with its chic design and color palette. We started with mocha iced lattes and tzatziki with pita. The drinks were refreshing and the tzatziki was amazing. The pita was perfectly fired to have a little crunch but also be pillowy soft. For brunch I got the pork gyro, this thing was a beast and so big. I didn't read that it had fries inside but I ordered more fries to dip into my leftover tzatziki. Everyone was so good that we intended to buy more baked goods but just could think about eating for hours because we devoured this food. Can't wait to come back! read more

Excellent food and service!! Highly recommend. The Pan Spanakopita is delicious. French toast is also really good not overly sweet.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is gorgeous. Minimalist and elegant, you will feel like you are relaxing on a Greek island instead of the middle of downtown Tampa! 5 stars for the atmosphere, 3 stars for the food, which was underwhelming. The dolmades filling was dry and the Greek Chick salad was lacking any real flavor at all, though the fries on the side were delicious and well seasoned. My husband said the Pork Gyro was nothing special, and a little too greasy. Surprisingly, there's no hummus on the menu, which is strange for a Mediterranean restaurant. But I'd go back for the coffee, drinks, and vibe! read more

Have tried a lot of gyros and these missed the mark for me. Staff is friendly. Lost a star because the waiter did not advise that there was a $2.50/plate split charge. Paid $5 more just to have the food separately plated - would have shared anyway. Not cool.....even though it's printed really small at the bottom of the menu where nobody reads. Carb concious need not apply - the bakery is lovely and hard to resist. I like to split a bread basket with a friend, order some eggs and enjoy a wonderful breakfast. Parking is at times tricky. When Psomi is slammed ( and i have seen it overwhelmed as well as very quiet ) they do a pretty good job of keeping up, however i most love quieter times where you can choose a seat by the outdoor fire or relax and soak up the atmosphere and flavors. Always love this place- food is on point and a good varied selection. My favorite is the bagel with salmon and also the avocado toast! I've been with a variety of friends and everyone is always pleased with their food. Drinks are well made as well. Nice outdoor and indoor spaces though when they are busy it's a little tight and inside can get loud. Parking is definitely a challenge but it's worth it. Service is generally great, though it can be a bit slower during busy times. Overall I'd definitely recommend you check it out! read more

I had the absolute WORST experience here a few days ago. My food was cold, so I asked to talk to the manager. John came to my table and had an incredibly rude tone. He made my girlfriend and I very uncomfortable. The entire time I felt that he wasn't even paying attention to me. All I wanted was my food to be warmed to the proper temperature, but he kept arguing and insinuating that I was the one who was wrong. Eventually I gave up and ate my cold food. Stopped by for Sunday marketing brunch during opening week. I must say that the decor and and ambience was spectacular. The brunch menu was a combination of their lunch and breakfast menus. I had the strapatsada and my boyfriend had the bacon benefict. Both were delicious. We also had the bread basket which featured a variety of their house made breads. After having Greek up in Tarpon Springs the day before, I thought that might be as good as it gets. Then I met Psomi. First, the parking at this place is unfortunately REALLY tough and is the only thing keeping this review from being a perfect five star. On a brighter note however, once you're in the restaurant you feel like you've been teleported to Greece with the ambiance that they've created. It's bright yet cozy, with both indoor and outdoor dining options. We all shared the bread bowl, and the cheese cream stuffed bagel bites were the highlight. For my meal, I got the french toast. The brioche was fresh and soft and the perfect thickness to hold the cream filling. All in all I was definitely satisfied with my culinary experience here and would highly recommend it for groups, especially for brunch. read more

The design of this restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is fantastic. When you finish admiring the restaurant itself, you have the opportunity to grab something from the bakery or sit and eat lunch or dinner. The first time I hit the bakery I could not decide and selected one of each to share with my office. LOVED everything and everything is so fresh! My favorite from the bakery is hands down the spanakopita! ( I would love to eat this everyday!)
