I hear that they're suffering from a staffing problem due to Covid which explains why they're not always open during normal business hours. Hopefully they can get this fixed. Showed up here and read the sign on the door (closed at 4, last call at 3 which is weird for a PT's), we came at 2:40pm, and there were people eating. Went to the order station and the staff looked at one another and said "oh we're closed"... that's weird because you're sign says you're open, your hours sign says you're open. Maybe you shut down the grill early, but at least let me buy a drink or something while you still have time before your... mid afternoon last call. It's okay. Service is slow. If you order outside...they need a bell or else you'll stand there til they remember to check the outdoor order window! Indoors was a bit better. Even refilled the napkins on the tables! Was disappointed. The foodtruck they have has an awesome buttermilk fried chicken sandwich that is not at this location :( Wish it was there! It's as good as Chik Fil A! The fries are great with their lemon pepper seasoning. They're hit or miss with being cooked all the way though. The outdoor seating is welcome for dogs, but they had no water for them! Just a dried up dog bowl. Maybe offer water for dogs as a request? Use a small cup...reduce the spread of diseases from the communal bowl like heartworm! Food wise...burgers sucked. I said no lettuce but there was a bunch of rogue shreds like they had to scrape it off! Burger was tinier than the bun. Not enough condiments and half the toppings were off and in the fries! Not sure what the hype is all about. I ordered the Olde Fashioned Burger all the way. It was a large, 8oz burger but it was so over cooked and dry it was tasteless even with all the trimmings. This location struggles to with hours and getting staff trained to handle the lunch hour. This is the third time we have come when the manager is not here they cannot get it together. People are waiting so long for food. We ordered 40 minutes ago! Food is always good. But people will go elsewhere if they cannot get it together soon. read more

After frequenting other PT locations in Wilmington and absolutely loving their food and atmosphere, this Wednesday evening (3.31.21, 6pm) trip left me disappointed and I will never visit Leland location again. Stopped in for dinner, quickly greeted while filling out order form for 3 meals and drinks given. Found a seat. Distancing not much of a thing here, but I have my vaccine and aren't high risk, so whatever. Waited. Waited. Waited some more. 30 minutes later my daughters 4oz burger arrives with the promise that our other 2 meals would be out soon. Staff, a 4oz burger does not mean you just cut the 8 oz in half after cooked. I've never seen anything like it. No other location follows this procedure, nor should they. Fries were plentiful and crispy which is a plus when most locations serve them too limp. Waited and waited for a salad and burger to go. Realized after 45 minutes I needed all to go and asked them and they said a few minutes more. 15 more minutes, maybe more, food arrives. Went to register and pay when staff said I hoped you enjoyed your meal. I told him I wish I'd had a chance to eat it but after waiting an hour I didn't have time. Classic reply from a 20 year old male, "That's just the way it goes sometimes." No sir, you need some training in customer service. OWNER/manager, train these young men who are willing to work when they could easily sit at home receiving COVID unemployment. I place all blame on what happened at this location on lack of owner/manager training or concern. Maybe owner needs customer service training as well. Obvious there is a void. Once received salad, request for no onions not honored. And no dressing included. Luckily I was home and had dressing. Wrap up: we will not be back to visit this location when there is an excellent one near Wrightsville. Take some pointers from them. read more

We stopped here for the first time a few days ago. I had a cheeseburger and my husband had a BLT. What delicious burgers and fries! They were cooked just perfect, very flavorful and juicy. The place was packed on a Wednesday afternoon. I would say this is the closest to a homemade burger as I have had in NC. My husband's BLT was the best he's ever had. Great customer service refilling drinks and checking up on you even though there wasn't a seat in the house. We will be back. Thank you. read more

Thank God for PT's Old Fashioned Grill during these times of crisis! I have been able to get anything and walk up to the windows and go. Best service ever and no worries. I love that I can get a small side salad instead of fries. But, if you love fries, these amazing sticks of glory will not let you down. Summed up the Char-Grill located near the beach except they serve draft beer and fresh lemonade! Walked in, filled out my order slip and handed it in. I decided to go with the olde fashioned burger with fries and a lemonade. Decent burger and the fries had a good seasoning.. I'm sad to leave this review because I typically love PTs. We ordered and waited 45 minutes for our food. When the food came out and we checked it out, the order was wrong. I clearly ordered a burger with jack cheese, onion, pickle, ketchup, and mustard. The burger I received had yellow cheese and nothing else. My ticket with the correct order was in the basket with my burger. Whoever made my burger clearly didn't even read the ticket. My boyfriend's chicken sandwich was also completely wrong. We couldn't even figure out a way they could have switched the orders- it was completely wrong. I'm sad to say we walked out hungry and probably will not return to this particular PTs. The grilled chicken salad is a large breast grilled perfectly over a huge salad. My husband usually orders a hamburger (always cooked the way he asks for it) or chicken strips with fries (lemon salt &pepper - so good). Sometimes I'll order the veggie burger (best around). Free refills on soft drinks. Fresh lemonade (a whole lemon squeezed on the spot) is great as is their iced tea, beers on tap, etc. read more

This PT's has excellent food AND extremely attentive staff. They are energetic and very diligent about getting all orders correct. One time I walked in and placed a to-go order then sat and waited. I didn't mind waiting but after about 8-10 minutes one of the employees, maybe the manager, came up to me and apologized profusely for making me wait so long. It really didn't seem like a crazy wait time to me but he said this was longer than they liked so he gave some "PT Money" (gift card) to use the next time I came in. I thought this was very generous of him. All the staff are like this. They're very good about offering refills if you're eating in. They clearly work hard to produce excellent food even when they're slammed. On top of it all, their food is AMAZING. Walked in to PT and we noticed we were 2 mins to closing. The lady that worked there said they were closing due to being short handed. Pretty disappointed. I went in to order some lunch and there were signs everywhere they were hiring. Everyone was running around, knocking into each other. I asked for a drink and no one came back to check on me. I asked if they were hiring and a lady came out and said maybe. LOL ok, well, do you have an application? I sat there for 30 mins filling out this paper application. It was so hot in there I was dripping with sweat when I left. The food is good, but the service time is terrible. I ordered food 40 minutes ahead of time and they told me it would be a 20 minute wait on the phone. So, I went to pick up my food after 25 minutes and they hadn't even started cooking it yet. They waited until I got in the resultant to start cooking. So it took an additional 20 minutes for them to cook my food. So next time, don't bother ordering ahead of time. Just go in and order. I'm frustrated because I'm trying to limit my exposure to others due to COVID, but had to wait in the restaurant for my food, which defeated the purpose of their "COVID precautions."
