We had just finished hiking from Aspen to Crested Butte via West Maroon Pass and needed some food and adult beverages. We hopped on Yelp and ended up getting a table here at Public House. Ambiance, decor, food. Public house has got it going on. The most delicious feel good foods, perfect for a weekend of hiking or skiing. The fish and chips were so so good. Crispy, beer battered, flaky white cod. Fantastic sauces to choose from. The coleslaw was crunchy and fresh. The Shrimp n Grits were some of the best I've ever had. Big, juicy grilled shrimp with creamy delicious grits. The side salad that came with this dish was also amazing and paired really well the texture of the shrimp n grits. The Rum Butte drink was super refreshing- loved the rum, lemon and raspberry flavors. The service was very attentive and friendly. We liked this restaurant so much that we tried coming here a second time during the weekend, but it was closed for a private event... bummer. Great restaurant in CB, we will be back! read more

Our group had the elk meatloaf, chicken sandwich, and poutine. All were SO good. Elk meatloaf with potatoes was everything you could have wanted and the side salad balanced the flavors. Fried chicken sandwich was huge and crispy. Poutine was huge and so good. I had their fire on the mountain to drink and it was pretty darn spicy. I was here with a bachelor party (yes, one of my besties is a dude) and decided to have dinner here on a Sunday night. They were able to accommodate our group of seven easily which was nice. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is very cool. It gives me a rustic/hipster vibe that I dig. Downstairs they have an event space for live music and they broadcast the live video/audio feed to the upstairs restaurant/bar. They have a good selection of draft beer which I enjoyed. I ordered the #burythebutte which was a very delicious brown ale. Not too heavy with a good amount of flavor. For dinner I ordered the Loaded Baked Potato Poutine and French Onion Soup. The poutine was not bad, I liked the cheese sauce and bacon! The French Onion Soup was delicious! The flavor and salt level were spot on. I ate all of it. The salad it came with was rather bland, I wish there was a more flavorful vinaigrette on it. I tried my friend's Fried Chicken that he ordered and it was very crispy. The batter was not too heavy which is always important to me! Service was decent. I thought the server did a good job with the large amount of tables he had. Overall, I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and would recommend trying this place out if you haven't yet! read more

100% and awesome place. How it doesn't have 5 stars is besides me. I had the Elk Meatloaf and a beer and everything was devine. We even crushed a cake for dessert. This is a newish restaurant in town and hopefully they sort out the kinks. The fried chicken sandwich is the best thing to order without any question. What is odd about the menu is the chicken sandwich and the "steak burger" which is just a small hamburger are basically the same price but the burger is extremely small and lacks any presentation. The soup is a cup and costs 12 bucks ! Not a bowl of soup and no it does not come with any mind blowing bread or anything... just a cup of soup The seating is tough as it is small but once seated the servers are great. I wish I could comment on the food but we couldn't even get someone to look our way after standing at the host station for almost 15 minutes. Lots of open seating all over, at an off hour. Staff walking by us constantly. I really wish they'd have just said "hey man, we don't want to be bothered with you" and saved me the time. One of our favorite spots in Crested Butte. The inside has an old western bar feel. The menu changes seasonably so there is always something new to try. If you're looking for a mountain dinner this place is great. They don't take reservations which is a little bit of a bummer. read more

Post being told we got skipped - waited another hour - and still were told they were waiting on tables to clear. Note: the Steep - kept us warm, alive, and living in the Butte! We went here during Covid- so just a disclaimer. Hard to evaluate the atmosphere. For the positives- nice patio outdoor seating - cobblestone with string lighting above, our waitress was friendly and attentive, the truffle fries were delicious, and the price was reasonable for the area. My wife also seemed to like the veggie burger. A few gripes- the draft beer came in smaller glasses than expected, and I wasn't a huge fan of the pulled Mac and cheese. I feel like this is a dish like that has so much potential, yet the pulled pork didn't bring the smoky flavor, and the cheese sauce tasted a bit bland. I wonder if it was just because it was a slow night because of Covid. I didn't finish it even though I was hungry. Overall, not bad but not blown away. We stopped in for a drink after dinner and we were very disappointed. They have a black board above their bar with "specials." I ordered a cold brew and baileys and they told me they were out of cold brew AND baileys. Next, I ordered a sangria, they were of course out of sangria. The bartender told me that he made the best mule, I tried that. I think it was at least 40% lime juice, I had to add half of my water in the drink before it stopped tasting like a warhead. I have always had good food here, reasonably priced, great service, and it is friendly and fun.

We really wanted to like this place, and were disappointed at best. We came in on a Friday evening. Took about 15 minutes to be acknowledged and take our drink order. Asked for a cider, were given a beer. The beast of bourbon drink (a bourbon-based mule) was tasty, as was the prickly pear mule. Ordered the poutine - a 2 out of 5. It was a big tray of fries, but the cheese curds were melted into one central pile, making 90% of the fries untouched by curds. For my main, I ordered the chicken sandwich- 2 out of 5. It looked impressive with how big it was, but it utterly lacked flavor. Like, not even salt and pepper. I had to ask for a side of ranch just to get any flavor. My husband ordered the kale Caesar. It was overdressed and had too many croutons - 2 out of 5. The good thing about the place was the server was friendly, and the fries were good. read more

We had a wedding reception at Public House after our ceremony at Woods Walk and our day couldn't have been more perfect! The food was incredible, the General Manager, Kevin was so on top of all the details, they had a ton of staff present for the day, and every single person working there was so friendly and helpful. The stage and downstairs music venue was epic for dancing and our DJ. We couldn't recommend Public House more. I went with the elk chili as an appetizer before my burger and it was by far the best chili I have ever had in my life. Perfectly balanced! The fries that came with my burger paired perfectly with the chili so I just made my own chili fries. Get it, you won't be disappointed. read more

Got a large take out order from here: the fish and chips along with Mac n cheese along with, I believe, everything other entree on the menu as we had about 7 of us ordering for the house.
