Easy to talk to, whether it's sports, food/beer, or the mountains! Service: We love seeing Jackson!! Met him on our first trip to Aspen, super nice guy (ask him for his favorite drink). Love popping in and see him when we're in town. Food: We usually come in the winter and I always get the chili (which is my favorite) this time (summer so no chili) the guys recommend the Baja bowl either chicken and 10/10.. It's a great place to go after visiting Maroon Bells. I will say the cashier gave a weird vibe like it was an inconvenience for him to be taking our order. I got the Baja Salad with chicken. I thought it was pretty good. I genuinely enjoyed it. My husband got chicken tenders and he said it was dry. What was shocking to us was how crazy expensive it was. We got the salad adding a protein, chicken tenders, fried mozzarella, and a soda and a margarita, that all came out to $92ish. That was just mind baffling. Ate here after a morning walk at the Maroon Bells. It was not that busy around 11AM. We ordered a pizza and it did take some time. You can sit anywhere, and they bring your order to you after because of the number you get. We ate outside with a view of the beautiful green hills. We were intensely craving for Pizza and found this to be close enough to our hotel. We had a little trouble parking and finding the exact place but eventually we did find it and it was nice to see how its right at the base of the mountains and lifts. Great view! They were about to close in 30 mins so we quickly placed our pizza order. The outside area was a very nice area to stroll and hang around, especially for kids but even in early July it was chilly in the evening. While we waited, for the pizza, my husband had a beer. The person taking our order was very nice and attentive and offered us extra plates and such. Well, after we took the pizza and all and went back to our hotel to eat it, we realized the GF one topping pizza we ordered, came with no topping! In fact we were charged for the extra topping but it was nothing but cheese and that disappointed my little one a lot. She was looking forward to her pep pizza Our speciality pizza was very good though and so was a make your own pizza that my son had ordered. Great crust, good cheese and sauce. Service was awful. We are on family vacation and my 23 year old brother got his ID taken because they didn't believe it was a real ID. Instead of scanning it, they just insisted it was not a real ID and we had to go back and forth for a long time before they gave it back, and even then they refused to serve him after they admitted they scanned it and it worked. When he said that this was "ridiculous" they said that this was exactly what someone with a fake ID would say. Horrible staff, service, etc. would not recommend. Not sure what gives staff this kind of audacity but if you're going to card people then you should scan the ID instead of making accusations based on appearance alone. And when you do scan it, accept the results? They scanned the ID and when it scanned, they then said "a lot of fakes scan." ??? They threatened to call the cops and although we invited them to do so because it's a real ID they never did. Furthermore, their responses were based bad faith, unfalsifiable arguments that put the customer in a position where any defense they offer is treated as evidence against them. There's no way to win that, it is simply dismissive and condescending and it's clear this wasn't rather a genuine security concern but either a power trip or someone was having a bad day and needed to take it out on someone. There is a difference between being wary and being needlessly confrontational/unprofessional. And ignoring the verification that the ID was real when it scanned, that's just refusing to be wrong. read more

Surprisingly a great place to have a quick bite before you take a ride to Maroon bells! Ordered a few beers and their whips white pizza - most fresh pizza I've had! Staff was nice and prompt! The views are fantastic Ofcourse! We did see a private event happening outdoors. Overall loved it! Will recommend for sure! read more

Well what can say 27 bucks for a measly plate of nachos. The pizza is good also overpriced got 2 medium pizzas for 72 dollars. It is Aspen but seriously. And I couldn't even get extra guacamole when the nachos turned into just chips. Watch your bill too because they add the tip without telling you so you will end up tipping three times. We were looking for a casual simple place to eat, and we found it at the Ale House! We just had to walk out the door at the Ritz and it was very convenient. The special soup was really delicious. My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad and our friends raved about the turkey club sandwich. There's not much service you go up to the counter order and then they bring you the food. Very much under the radar if you are staying in Aspen or Snowmass, this place has the best pizza in either town, a nice selection of beer, and an expansive outdoor deck and lawn for scenic dining at the base of some of highlands ski runs. (Slice of Snowmass is probably about as good but I am not including them since they sadly went out of business). Prices are fair for quality and quality. Service is friendly and quick. We came hungry! Post afternoon adventures up at the Maroon Bells, we came back to Aspen Highlands hungry for pretty much anything. Luckily they had some delicious food - - from burgers with truffle fries to cod fish tacos. We were ready to gruuuuuuub!! After ordering inside at the bar, we sat outside at one of their tables. They brought out the food and it all looked so good. Typically, we'd have leftovers from 3 full-size entrees, but like I mentioned, we were famished! My 10-year old ate 1/2 of her burger & fries + a couple bites of my husband's tacos. FYI: truffle fries are an up charge. The food + the views + fresh air made this an awesome dining experience. Aspen is famous for being expensive and crowded, but Aspen Highlands is the hidden gem. Highlands Alehouse was the main restaurant at the bottom of the hill. The pizza was so delicious, and the mussels (special) were fresh and savory. How do you even import mussels this fresh? Great convenient location for lunch which won't break the bank. We stopped in on Saturday off President's Day weekend as a 6-top and the place was extremely busy. Yet the staff was on top of everything and making things flow very efficiently. For quality pub food it's great, staff are terrific, TV's aren't obnoxiously present, bar is excellent and it is an all around great time. Never been disappointed except they don't have a meal plan! There really is no place in Aspen I'd rather eat. Normally, its an apres ski thing -- one thing leads to another, and a beer turns into beers (really nice selection), which then begets a pizza, some wings, their superb, unequaled gluten-free pizza, maybe a salad... Sometimes its lunch, after skiing and hiking. We'll grab a big table and park a bunch of kids and bigger people, and pizzas, burgers, wings and more beers will start heading our way and everyone eats too much and walks away stuffed. Either time, its crowded. To get to the yummy food, you have to deal with the crowd. Service consists of ordering at the bar and then they bring your food to your table. If you can get a table. They're big and there's no seating person or plan so you just have to find a group that's about the vacate and snag before someone else does. Then some other vulture will hover over you when it looks like you might leave. Crowd situation. Part of the experience. Last night we showed up about 6pm for dinner. No one there except a couple tables and a bar full of ski instructors and ski co employees at the bar. The place was so clean and quiet! And the food was even better than usual. I had the salmon, which came perfectly pink inside, on a bed of delicious spinach and peperonata. Really, really tasty. Pizza and wings for the kids, excellent as always -- the buffalo wings are seriously crisp and tasty and come out hot! Having been to the Ale House maybe 20 times, and an equal number before that when it was Aspen Pizza Co (same people, smaller location around the corner), my whole family are fans. Yes, it gets crowded. Because its really good! I wish they had maybe one or two more entree type items on the menu. For us low-carb/gluten free types, it'd be nice to have maybe a roast chicken or pork chop on the menu. After my salmon experience last night, I'm really curious to see what the kitchen could do with a few more meaty options. But that's my only sort-of complaint... read more

I stopped here the other day between ski runs for a quick bite. I had a bowl of the chili and to my surprise it was one of the best chili bowls I ever tasted. I spoke with my server who turned out to be one of the owners, and I was impressed by his commitment to quality ingredients. I brought my wife back tonight to try the pizza and it was definitely the best pizza in the valley. We live in Aspen on the east side of town and it only took us 9 minutes to get there.
