Is anyone else pissed that Public Storage raises their prices every year? I have their smallest closet of 5x10 for a promo (1st mo) $88. The next mo. it went to $103, the next 4 mo. it jumped to $107, then for the next year $120, year after $132, this year $170 and I just saw it will be $222 for the next year...WTF?!!! Seriously?? That's RIDICULOUS!!! Now I'll have to find another place. I had to get the unit when I moved so I could store my pool table but now they are forcing me out. Do not use them! Total scam. We paid in full and they sent us to collections for a random $370. They never billed us and they never called us. Instead they randomly sent us to collections for $370. When our movers moved all of our stuff out of our storage unit, the movers told us they put the lock in the drop box. That didn't happen. They locked the unit. Not knowing they locked the unit, we canceled our term with Public Storage. We got a call from them letting us know the lock was still on. We went there, unlocked the unit, and showed the manager it was empty. Then we said "now what?" The manager said he'd have to call his District Manager to see what the DM wanted to do (let it go or charge us for the extra days). We never heard from the DM. We never heard from anyone. We never received anything in the mail. Until today. We received a bill from a collection agency for $370, but "willing to accept $185" to settle this debt. We moved out of Public Storage on November 24. We paid in full on November 24. We returned the key on December 8th. They told us they'd call us to let us know if we owe anything. Today, January 19, we get a bill from collections. I'll also be going to the BBB. read more

Visited the location last week and took a tour. We were very happy with the service we received that day. The MOD said they came from another location to help due to staff calling in sick and was not normally at this location. We liked this manager and what we saw. Went home and booked online. Received a call from the MOD a few minutes later to set up an appointment for our paperwork and move in date for later in the week. We were very happy with the manager and process. Move in day: had an appointment at 2pm to sign paperwork and move in. Arrived before 2pm, door was locked and sign on the door said they would return at 11:55. Several customers were waiting outside and said they had been waiting for 30-45 minutes already. Waited 15 minutes and no one came. Left and returned 30 minutes later, still no one at the office and the 11:55 sign remained with people still waiting. We were very disappointed with being forgotten but feel it is a blessing in disguise. While waiting, the customers shared their complaints with us. Now this is all from unhappy customers, but their voices helped us make our decision to not store here. They said there has been a change in management and since then the location has gone downhill including lack of personal. They said there has been many break ins and the company is aware but has done nothing to bump up security. They found out after having their things stollen that the purchased store insurance did not cover their property, only the damage to the actual unit. Some had broken springs on doors making it dangerous to open the door but the company would ignore the request to repair it and they have been waiting weeks for repairs, unable to access their unit while they wait. I would have liked to ask the manager about this information, I would have liked to have been able to read the contracts to see if the company is upfront about security, maintenance, and insurance BUT unfortunately no one ever showed up even though we had an appointment. After several days from our forgotten appointment, we have received no phone call or follow through from the company. We did receive an automatic email telling us we never showed up for our appointment but nothing more. Due to the lack of professionalism towards a booked appointment, I feel the customers have merit. Their reviews and the storage's lack of personal has lead me to look else where. Be aware before signing up and ask lots of questions before signing a contract. read more

There are definitely better options out there than Public Storage (at least at this location). I've used them for over a year to store stuff from my dorm since the pandemic started. They are not transparent with their prices, and upon arrival there were hidden fees that were not mentioned. The person at the desk also tried to sell me more stuff like mattress covers at rip-off prices. As the months went by, the rental price just kept going up but there was nothing I could do because I was out of state. When I came to return my rental unit, no one was onsite despite me scheduling my move-out date a month in advance. The unit is also extremely dusty. I'm only giving two stars because the online customer service rep was speedy in helping me cancel my rental. Overall, it works if you don't care about constant price raises, dust collecting on your stuff, and hidden fees. Keep in mind they don't tell you the cost of the lock/key and the rental insurance on the site. read more

I used this facility to store my things for two years. The place was always clean. My stuff was always safe. I was able to move my things out over a two-month period with zero hassles. I left the place clean and when I checked out I received an email within 20 minutes letting me know everything was in order and that my business would be welcomed back. I had to wait 15 minutes for somebody to show up and unlock the door. And then answer my questions. ZERO stars! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! My mother and I were TRAPPED inside this facility one night, and the police were unable to get us out! We had to jump the fence and have someone come pick us up and we got our cars in the morning. It was such a nightmare. Now, I do understand that we screwed up and weren't supposed to stay so late, but it wasn't really an option because my lease was over and I was moving that very day. It is the business' responsibility to make access to the facility idiot proof and not lock their own customers inside. After this experience, I know that you can't assume certain things, and if you are going to trust a company to store your things, you really should know how an emergency will be handled. During this fiasco we learned several important things, all of which are good reasons for you not to do business at this location (and perhaps any Public Storage facility): 1) They may have a sticker in their window saying they have an alarm system on the premises, but that's not true. We called the security company before we called the police, and they said that the account was inactive. So if somebody breaks in, there is no alarm system. What does that say about all your stuff in your storage unit? Up for grabs! 2) If there was another kind of emergency, such as a fire, the local authorities would not be able to get in. I am pretty sure this is against a city code or something, but your possessions will be burning for a while before they break down the gate and get the firemen in to rescue whatever is left. 3) Management does not care. They locked us in without checking (or the automated system did - which is dumb as it is). When we called the next day we were brushed off like the entire thing was our fault and it shouldn't have happened. This is probably what offends me the most - that they don't appear to care for their customers or about what happens in their facility at all. FYI - did you know that your homeowner/renter's insurance coverage will not cover your stored possessions if they are not in a locked, alarmed facility? That's right - no burglar alarm = no insurance coverage. You'd have to litigate with Public Storage for your lost belongings, along with everyone else storing their items in their facility. Good luck, and if you can, make sure to verify that your storage unit actually has the level of protection that you are paying them to provide. read more

This place does not value its customers. I had my stuff stored here for 5 years. Never once was I late on a payment. Never once did they have any issues with me. When I moved out, I moved out the day after the payment date and they charged me the amount for the entire month. I only occupied the space for one freaking day. They would not work with me and the office manager gave me some line about it being in my paperwork, which she could not provide to me. I now live in another state and am dealing with a fantastic storage facility who cares about their customers. I will NEVER use Public Storage again and recommend that you don't either. read more

The invoicing system for this place is not good at all. I received a phone call that my credit card had not gone through. I paid the bill, including an extra $15 late fee (there is no grace period.) I received a payment confirmation over email that day. Much to my surprise, I received two more past due emails two days after my payment was confirmed. I now have to spend more time on the phone figuring out what I am past due for, which is really annoying. At this storage facility, you pay a premium for decent customer service. They need to get their billing system worked out. I suppose the problems are extra motivation to clear out your storage unit and get rid of your extra stuff! read more

I drove by this store after I visited the one on La Palma. I was not sure I would like it, but this place looked very quaint. So I decided to take a chance after the fiasco at the one down the way. Jennifer the manager was amazing I felt so welcomed and she walked me through everything. The office even smelled great. She asked me questions that greatly helped with my move. It was night and day compared to the location down the street I couldn't believe it. This facility even had metal walls instead of drywall. Also Jennifer told me that she and the other managers do daily checks to make sure that my locker is safe. I was a bit put off about the insurance, but I figured I have it for my apartment and car, why not? Plus I rather be safe than sorry. I would defiantly recommend this public storage to all my friends and family. So far the experience was good and I had no complaints. read more

This year alone, I have driven to OC twice and forgot the key to my storage unit. Each time, Deborah has been extremely helpful. The facility is clean and in good order. watch their fine print regarding moving out dates, I was told I could stay a few extra days and just pay the rent based on those days used, moved THE SAME DAY to a closer location from home using same company Public Storage. After signing new contract I was told that I still had to pay for the remaining balance from the storage that I had just moved a couple of hours. So one storage tells you lies and the other storage doesn't warn you that you'll be paying for two storage units even though you'll be using just one. After this month I'll be leaving with any other storage company except Public Storage. read more

We moved our stuff in and two days later the manager contacted us to check and see if any of our stuff had been stolen. When we went there we were informed that PS has a new program for thieves where they can signup (with a stolen credit card) on line, get a touch less gate code, drive in and open as many storage units as they like as there is only 1 worthless security camera that can't tell the license plate number from Joe Biden. They stole our kids (2) new motorcycles and left everything else. The manager said they also broke into 5 other units in the 90 minutes they were there. They also said that it was the 3rd time in 6 months that this had happened. Funny, we didn't see the sign that says, "Welcome to Public Storage on Lakeview. We have only lost the belongings of 20 of our renters in the last 6 months." I guess if your storing historic dryer lint or used concrete you'll be fine but don't put anything valuable there. BTW. Filed a report with Anaheim PD (great group of police, honestly) that confirmed that there is little if anything that they can do. You have been warned. read more

Very friendly service and a great price, but I wish I would have been told about all of the fees when I reserved the space online. The fees were reasonable, but I was not told about them until I was ready to pay. Also (and this is a huge downside), this location advertises that they have moving carts available...but they actually only have one cart for the entire facility. That seems unreasonable. read more

Many storage companies out there and having been doing some research online. The Lakeview property is closest to my house, so went there to do an inspection of the storage units and see what the facility has to offer. Met with Sarah....she was exceptionally professional, knowledgeable about the cost to store my things, knew the size I would need, showed me the units (all very clean) and explained the various rate plans. Even though I'm not sure when I will be moving things from my home to a storage unit, I know that I will come back to Public Storage when I'm ready, all due to Sarah's professionalism and customer service skills, which for me, is hard to find these days.
