Do not use this storage - please be warned. I have filed 2 police reports and a BBB against this place. I rented in September since I was moving. I got an inside unit and pre-paid. I had the unit less than 2 weeks and it got broken into the NIGHT I moved everything in to it and then the next morning when I discovered the crime - I noticed that 4 other units were also broken into. I informed the lady who came at 9am and she just used her foot to push the belonging back into the other units and then closed the door. She then explained to me this happens often (wish I had known that) and that its easy to break in and she thought it was an inside job. 2 days later, after reinforcing the unit, it was broken into again. A day later - I get an email that says my unit was left unlocked and I need to come fix it - I asked and the lady goes, oh that was an accident. It made me wonder if the other property people were informed their unit was EVERY broken into. Flash forward - I've spoken to 3 different people (Shanna, Jeffrey, Misty) to get reimbursed for Sept ($133) and it was approved by District Manager Trey but now its the END of OCTObER and the money has not returned to me and my understanding is they fired the women who TRIED to help me and all their locations dont answer their phone now. Trye won't answer - I've left him multiple messages for accountability. This place is a scam and there are multiple break in. The same owner of this location owns the Westgate location too. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR BELONGING. read more

Terrible. This place caught fire several years back probably because of their unsafe practices of leaving trash and and other personal belongings, including gas cans strewn about their roof. Also, I made a purchased some boxes a while back and then ended up not using them. When I returned them, instead of refunding me they charged me a second time for the boxes. I don't know what could be so hard about spending 15 minutes to get the trash off of your roof. Have a little respect for your neighbors and the neighborhood, why don't you? read more

I would not recommend Public Storage at 7112 South Congress Ave to anyone. The first problem was that I could never get ahold of anyone on the phone. I called multiple times during business hours, and I never once got an answer. I left voicemails, and I never received a call back. You have a better chance at reaching God The second problem was that they never processed my move out when they said they would. Since you can't get anyone on the phone, you do everything online or on the app. I tried to call to confirm everything was all set, and no one called me back. Even though I completed every move out step, they still charged me. I'm very disappointed with the service I received from Public Storage. I would never rent from them again, and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I rented a storage unit here and it flooded with water. My Grandfather's photos were soaking wet along with all of my clothes. There was about a foot of water. It's difficult to get a hold of them. They don't answer during the hours they say they are open. Also, I went to the office to cancel the storage unit during their office hours and no one was there. I called the main Public Storage phone number to cancel and was put on hold for an extended period of time then the call got disconnected by their phone system. The parking and driving are not up to par considering how many different size trucks come through there. The roads (not really roads) in between storage units are way too narrow. The probability of an incident occuring is high. The lighting where my unit is??? What lighting??? It is very dark, and in my opinion, not safe at night for driving and moving. Louie is AWESOME! I was in a bind and needed storage ASAP since the movers were already loading the truck and didn't have the space they promised at their facility. Unfortunately, several more things went wrong during my move but Louie saved the day!! He not only got me storage but also quickly adjusted my units on the fly when my moving truck was too big to make it to my reserved units. It was closing time and we were in a real pinch. Public Storage was an actual life saver for my boyfriend and me this past weekend. After being totally screwed on our storage reservation through UHaul -I quickly contacted Public Storage to see if they could help us find a temporary home to the contents of our 17ft Uhaul! I spoke with Terry on the phone, who was not only extremely sympathetic but gave me all the information quickly and efficiently to get me a storage unit a few miles away from our current apartment. I was immediately contacted by Miranda at the location we are storing at to confirm my reservation I had made only minutes prior with Terry. With only 30 minutes till close on a Saturday afternoon, Miranda showed us the storage unit and completed all of our paperwork in about the same amount of time we spent standing in line at UHaul. As it turns out, the cost for a unit twice the size with a drive up door was less than the pathetic, incorrectly reserved unit we were supposed to get through UHaul. Even with the insurance they require you to purchase, I would pick this place to save yourself some stress. The only real issue we have had was getting our heavier items in storage up the small incline our storage unit sits on. My boyfriend is an auto mechanic and picking up an elephant might be easier than moving this thing! Needless to say, it was a challenge getting it into the unit with only two people. Perhaps, request a unit with more even access should you choose to store here! At the end of a horrible day, Public Storage was a life saver... we even joked that perhaps we went through the nightmare of a day with Uhaul to end up with exceptional service at Public Storage, instead! read more

If you move out of Public Storage on the first day of the month, they will bill you for the entire month - BEWARE OF THIS!!!!! There is no pro-rating!!!! They will then, most likely, rent out your vacant unit that you paid for and collect double rent. This is a change in policy and I have not received any notification of this change. Several calls to their corporate office were made and I was informed that they can make changes to their contract without any notification. read more

Everything was going great with the rental. I was able to book and pay online. Signed all the paperwork. Used App to open the gate. Very impressive. I asked for a lock refund of $20 I was charged since I have my own industrial lock that ironically I had to buy from PS last time I rented from them. Well I was told I must use a cylinder lock or the manager will lock me out of my unit. Every time I need access I must get the manager to open it! There is no mention of this on any of the paperwork I signed. It is not disclosed on the website either. I got my refund but now I am locked out of my unit! read more

This is the best management of a storage unit facility I've ever experienced. Maranda was super helpful on multiple occasions, and Louie is an awesome dude that went out of his way to help me, too. I enjoy talking to them whenever I see them, and when I have a question, I know it's going to be answered before anyone even picks up. The facility has larger units available (40' x 12') than most in the Austin area, which was great for us. I would highly recommend this Public Storage location to anyone. read more

HORRIBLE!!! Watch out for all of the hidden fees!!! Meranda, the property manager, will INSIST that you purchase the Public Storage insurance. She'll tell you that it's REQUIRED if you want to rent a unit there even though it's not!!! I already had renter's insurance through another company but she wouldn't accept it and forced me to buy theirs. I've paid $70+ in unnecessary insurance fees!!! Beware, you'll also have to buy a lock from them for $20 which they don't tell you up front either. WHAT'S WORSE: they upped my monthly rental fee without any notice!!! I signed up for autopay and after a couple of months, realized that they had started charging me more without informing me of any change (even though it's required in the lease agreement). Seedy, which is unfortunately typical for mini-warehousing. I normally carry a concealed handgun when I go there, as there appear to be vagrants or others of questionable character lingering about. But the warehouse stays dry and locked, which is about all I really care about. So I leave my crap there, year after year. Shop around for price and location. Management is not efficient. Does not follow through with what is promised. Very upset with this storage unit. Moved in with the understanding I needed extended hours for a couple of nights in December. Spoke to the manager more than 4 times as well as her boss too. Three times she assured me that it was on her calendar to be done. Not a problem. It was not done!!!!!! Was unable to access when needed with 3 paid employees and rented truck in tow.. Cost me a lot of extra money and has screwed up me being able to get out of town to be with my family for Christmas... Thanks Public Storage....Oh yes, and the first time it rained hard my unit flooded...though they were very nice and gave me the forms for insurance and said they would have the roof checked. Had a great experience working with Isabel! She is super knowledgeable and walked me through everything I needed to know regarding my reservation, unit and move-in. After making the reservation online, I was promptly contacted by Isabel to schedule a time to fill out the paperwork. When I arrived, there was no wait, and she had all the paperwork ready for me. We viewed the unit so I'd know exactly where to go and I was given an opportunity to inspect the unit to ensure it was clean, secure and would fit my belongings. A few days after I moved my stuff in, Isabel called to check in and confirm that everything went according to plan. I only wish you got this level of customer service elsewhere! Overall, I have been thoroughly impressed with my unit, it's affordability and the customer service I've received. The only challenge is that their location happens to be on a road undergoing some construction, but there's really nothing they can do about that. read more

There are a number of very poor reviews for Public Storage that are accurate and well deserved. Public Storage will lure you in with low rates and a free month's rent , ( but on a month to month basis ) . Once you're moved into the unit, they will price gouge you and increase your monthly rent in about 2 to 3 months by about 30% more than your original quote. I received a $55 rent increase after 3 months. When I called to have them reduce this and maintain the original price they offered me, they stated that they have a greater demand for my unit and that it's a month to month lease ( so what they actually meant is pay or move out ). The lower prices they will quote you are bait to get you to sign on and this is a manipulative pricing trick to get you into the unit so they can jack up the rent once you are there. Within the next 30 to 60 days after move in , expect at least a 20 to 30% increase ). This is legal but HIGHLY unethical ! VERY BAD Business practices .. Store your stuff with another company that deals with the public in a fair manner. read more

Meh, I have experienced better. Michael, the manager was very kind, patient informative, friendly, professional and easy going. NO complaints where Michael is concerned. The storage unit was clean. VERY clean. So, no complaints there either. The price was good. I got the first month for $1. Well, not exactly. Their new "special" locks cost just shy of $18. There was an initial fee of $22.00 and of course the minimum required insurance at $9.00 and then of course, taxes. Ok, so that's all part of getting started. I'm ok with that. What I am NOT ok with is this.... If at all possible do not go to your storage unit alone. Even in the day time. VERY scary people behaving very strange and doing God knows what at random storage units. I am a tough broad, but I will never again go alone to my storage unit at this location for anything more than a quick visit. Honestly it would not surprise me if some of those units are actual meth labs. Also DO NOT drive a truck over 16'! You CAN NOT get around the corners without smashing your truck or the buildings. Seriously. AND every row of storage units is on a hill so your truck, car, van WILL tip sideways unless you park in the center of the isle which means no one can get around you or vice versa. So yeah, maybe I DID get the $1 for the first month deal and yes, I took advantage of their 15% off each month by reserving a storage unit online, but remember, sometimes you get what you pay for. read more
