They raised my space rent well over 100.00 dollars without notifying me. If they did notify me it wasnt on my storage unit is was buried in an email I don't or didnt find. They offer absolutely no security, cameras don't work. They have rats and no pest control and they are hard to get ahold of when you want to speak with someone directly. Dont expect customer service or your items to be protected there is none. But they will charge you an arm and a leg in rent raises which are often, like every couple of months. If you pay a day late you will get an additional 60.00 late fee added and they lock you out of your unit until the balance is paid. I do not recommend them in any way shape or form and I am leaving and not using their business in the future. DO NOT RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE FOR ANY REASON THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND CHARGE A FORTUNE FOR ZERO SERVICE. read more

we rented a storage online, there were a few glitches with it but we called and straightened those out. My husband then went to the storage and didn't have the right code to get in. No one was around to help so he came home. Apparently if they have staff they don't require them to answer the door, so my husband went home and called, it took about 2 hours to talk to the right person who told us that there is an error they didn't have the unit we had asked for and they shouldn't have charged me $92 as advertised on line but rather $134. Not sure where to start... in a pinch we were able to find this public storage, my experience with storage places is hidden fees etc. we were told despite rate increase on the new year we would be able to submit to keep our rate from climbing... that didn't happen, the rate increased significantly, our "request" was denied. No big surprise, however when I went to pick up a few things for spring, I found my golf bag was chewed up from mice. Immediately we contacted the front desk and alerted them, their solution was to set mice traps etc. ( the worker stated that food possibly in a neighboring or adjacent unit could be the cause) there is nothing consumable or food like in our unit. Still paying the increased rate. We recently returned to find much more stuff destroyed by mice / rats, again notified the office person, also called a suggested number ( it led to the same seemingly unconcerned person) . They gave us options to move to a smaller unit, set traps again, call an exterminator, or apply for the reduced fee. Having a hard time contacting anyone more than just the person working in the office is difficult, ironically public storage called to collect the bill and we notified them of what is happening. Even worse, there are live ( and dead) mice IN the boxes of summer clothes we brought home, mattresses ruined, clothes etc. probably the most frustrating part is being denied the rate we were offered and paying a much higher rate for what seems to be worse service. This doesn't have anything to with the employees at the store. It's the corporate side. They decided to raise my rent. I called and ask if they can help me since I didn't recieve a warning that they claimed they have sent. I call the corporate office to help me out but no fucks given. They will determine to make my pay 300 after my bill was around 200 for the previous months They are a money hungry corporate that will take advantage of people. There's people who are struggling to make ends meet and they'll just care about getting every dollar they can and hope u can't pay. They'll take advantage of you as they grow richer. read more

Great customer service, easy process to get started and for a great value compared to other storage places

This update is because I forgot to put it in the first review and the problem just happened again. They have a bathroom but they keep it locked at all times even though it's behind a locked gate and under 24 hour video surveillance. The bathroom is unavailable to public storage's customers unless there is someone in the office who are often not there. You have to ask for permission and wait for them to be finished with whatever task they are doing to take a key and go unlock the door for you! The office doesn't open till nine but I want to be in and out of the storage unit before before it gets hot but I don't have access to a bathroom even though I'm paying $194 a month for a less than 10 x 10 unit! Nor do I have access in the evening after they close the office. Such pathetic customer service. read more

I have a unit at carmicheal ca we told the office we were moving out by the end of the month . So we moved some of our stuff out before end of month so I had rented a uhaul to get the rest of our stuff on the 28th to find public storage had cut my lock and put their lock on my unit so when I get there I couldn't get into my unit because it was their lock and no one in office. So I couldn't get a hold of someone on the app. It was a 2hr drive to our unit a 2hr drive back plus having to pay the uhaul truck rental. This is against thier policy's so why has someone from the location or public storage explain why this happen to us ,but no call no messages. So that day was a total waste of time and money. But public storage does want to reimburse me for the uhaul rental. I should be asking for reimburse for time and my lock they cut for no reason . This is unacceptable in my eyes . Bad business practices. Everyone make mistakes so just owe up to your mistakes. read more

We have had a unit here for many years. It started out at $55 then went up to $200 in a few years. This summer we discovered there were roaches when we brought a box home and roaches crawled out. The units are infested. Yesterday, we got a call in the afternoon that our unit was broken into the night before. What took them so long?! It's been a pain trying to get any info out of them. The whole thing is highly suspicious. Now we have to deal with the roaches to get our stuff out. Nasty! read more

This process of renting a drive up unit and accessing the unit was so perfect in my detrimental circumstances. I rented a drive up unit for less than $75 first month and was able to use my phone they the all to open the the gates and leave the storage unit. They do get one star for the nice people who work there. Other than that the corporate policies are horrible. I rented a unit online because I was out of town, showed up 2 days after my reserve date and the unit was unusable for me. Had to small doors for a 10x10. They had put two 5x10s together. Never moved anything in, left and found a different unit. They would not refund my money because it's over 24 hours since my reservation.... I was nervous about doing business with them and this is why. Absolutely no courtesy to make exemptions from their policies. Will never do business with them again. read more

I was very disappointed by the location of my space and the difficulty reaching it. This wasn't disclosed that it was in a deep corner where I couldn't even turn my suburban toward to unload. I did appreciate the automated move-in process and I think the space is fair for the price but I would have appreciated a heads up and the option to pay more for something I could more easily access. read more

Before I begin, let me say that both Samantha and Kassie were helpful, courteous, patient, and pleasant to work with. Our problems began after a year when we went to storage after the spring rains and discovered a leak in the ceiling that had damaged a stack of boxes. The boxes and their contents were wet, moldy, and mostly ruined. We talked to Samantha and she told us we had no recourse because we had opted out of the additional insurance payment plan. She gave us her boss's number, Jose, who we called. He said because we had not paid for their insurance there was no recourse from Public Storage and there would be no credit towards the monthly payment or discount due to damage. We also told him we had discovered rat droppings. Oh well, was his basic response. We moved our belongs out. In addition to the water damage and mold, there was an abundance of rat droppings in the furniture and some boxes had huge holes in them from where the rats had chewed through them to get inside. There was no food in the unit. We brought home a huge roach as well. Again, Samantha and Kassie were wonderful to work with but I cannot in good conscience recommend this storage facility due to Jose's position and lack of helpfulness, or even compassion, when there was an issue. To add insult to injury, in 1.5 years our rent went from $131/month to $179/month. That is a 37% increase over 18 months. That seems a bit steep to me. read more

Review Update: they will not be around during business hours, and they will ignore your calls when you try to pay them, and then sell your items anyway. Marcus the district manager is no help as Public Storage doesn't actually care about people or their belongings. If you really need storage, I suggest Horn Road Storage. It's way cleaner, the people are much more professional and responsive, and I never had one problem in the two years I was storing belongings there. If you see this and choose public storage, you deserve the hard time you're going to have. They will steal your items, lock you out, and ignore you as you stand outside of their office door for longer than anyone gets for lunch even though it's not lunch time. When the girl who worked there before was still around, with her boyfriend fresh out of prison and their unleashed pitbull and her 2 kids I ended up with things missing, things her and her kids would have probably liked and boxes that weren't mine in my unit and they were the only ones who went in. I have tried to contact them before about the fact that things were stolen out of my unit by the person that worked there and I have never heard back from Public storage. They're full of it and shady and hire criminals to staff their facilities. Oh yeah, she was pocketing money too because everyone's unit prices were lower once she didn't work there anymore. If you need a place to store your things, I suggest that you go with PODS. Nothing was ever missing, no one was as going in and out of my stuff and everything I put into pods I got back. You won't feel like you're talking to a wall when you need actual customer service with PODS. Moral of the story is, don't bother storing your things at public storage. You won't get it all back. read more

Don't go here they will screw you! So they evicted me and I had no idea why. My dad rented the space when I had an unexpected leave of town for a year. Well he never put me as a person to be on the property and I never knew that I was not to be there. I have been going there for over six years now and never a problem. Well my dad passed away in February and there are things he never got to tell me,like his email password so I never got the email to tell me that there was a problem. They mailed me a letter on 8-30-2021 to tell me that I got to get my things by 9-01-2021, I did not get this letter until 9-03-2021. I called them to try and work it out with them. I got there on the morning of the 4th and the lady helping me was most unpleasant. She asked for my I.D. And a death certificate then she said that I owe rent, and thinking that if she is asking for rent that I would getting the month to get my things out. WRONG! She then told me I got one chance to get all my things out and that's it and that I should go get a uhaul and get all of it after she took the rent money. To me that is no way to do business and she should not have even asked for rent if she knew that I was not going to be able to go in there. She got me for $222 and that is a lot of money she stole from me for me to get nothing in return. This is not over yet. read more

When my family and I needed extra space fast, Crystal was there to help us out. Crystal provided nothing but the best service and conducted herself professionally. She provided details about what the sizes, prices, and upcoming vacancies were, and drove us around the lot to show us the various possible units before we made our decision. When we needed to downgrade our unit, Crystal helped find the size and price that was right for us too. I'm not really sure what the negative reviewers saw; My experience was nothing but positive during the time we had the unit. At no point did I fear for the safety or security of my property. Frustrating and unfortunate! This was my experience Yelp readers... I called to inquire about their services and make an appointment. I am using this unit for business and was abundantly clear on my absolute requirement that they are able to receive packages shipped to their location. I was told yes, that was a service they offered. Made an appointment for 2 days later to check out a unit, email confirmation and everything. I get to public storage and no one is there. They scheduled me during a monthly meeting. Not the greatest start. As you can probably guess where this is going, not even a week into renting, we had only 1 of many shipments received. I am currently spending the little time I have, sitting in front of public storage waiting for a shipments 4th attempted delivery because of public storages lack of availability. Of course I would not have opted for this if I was informed of their true business practices. This back and forth changing of receiving locations will cost $800+ for my business due to the wild processes involved to do so. We are a new business which makes this experience ever more disappointing. Bottom line, DO NOT RENT HERE FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES WHEN RECEIVING IS A REQUIREMENT! I have been with Public Storage for years in different cities and locations. Today I was in a hurry and left my lock and keys on the ground and my door unlocked. Within 1 hour, Sierra was doing a routine inspection and noticed my unit unlocked, with keys on the ground. She called me, relocked my unit, and returned the keys to me today. All my landscaping equipment, supplies, and personal items were intact thanks to Sierra and the management at this location..........Thank You Thank You sooooooo much! read more
