When I needed storage in a hurry, I could not have found anyone more friendly, helpful, and efficient than Joe Blais, the area manager of Public Storage in East Hartford who did not have a place in East Hartford but found me one in Manchester. The next day, after a check of the units in Manchester, he called to let me know that I hadn't properly secured the door on my unit and then met with me in Manchester immediately to help me fix the problem. This review is for Public Storage, Inc., not the location in East Hartford. As of Jan 1 2024, they are raising my storage fee from $89 to $112, an increase of 26%, compared to an annual inflation rate of just 3%. The managers of this company are predators & thieves who care nothing about their customers and just see them as pockets to be picked. Avoid this predatory company at all costs -- once they have your stuff, they will raise your rate 26%, or more!!!! read more

While the local staff is good, I don't like their corporate guys, raised the rent 50% on me without any good reason. While I can see raising rents in line with general inflation say 3% to 4%, a 50% increase is totally unjustified. Watch out for these guys, once you are in, they sock it to you. I am eager to move out soon. read more

We met with Nick this morning to view and rent a 10'x10' climate controlled unit. He was professional, friendly and very thorough as he showed us around and set up our leasing agreement. The storage is easy to access from the highway and has very good security at the facility. read more

While the staff at the desk is courteous, and the unit I had did have the advantage of an electrical outlet, the problem is NOT with the location staff, it is their corporate actions... I doubt very much that I would EVER do business or recommend Public Storage due to their Bait and Switch corporate policy. While I realize that you sign a month to month lease, I would NOT expect a damn near $35 increase after only 5 months. I discovered the increase when I went to pay my bill online. When I called, I did not recieve a response, so 2 days later I went to the office. That's when they told me it had been increased. They ran a copy of a letter dated the end of the prior month to show me they had suppoedly given me notice, but this was the first I had seen of the letter. This was on the 24th of Sept. I let them know I was NOT pleased with having it raised so much after so short a time and told them I would be moving my things out. I was out by the 29th. On Oct 6th I recieve an email from them telling me I have a $20 balance... First off, if they could contact me through email to tell me of this supposed "balance" I owe, which I did not owe when I went into the office on the 24th, why was there no email notifying me of the rent increase ? Only a letter that I never saw, and I have my doubts was actually sent, until I saw it in the office. I would think that when you sign into a facility like this you couold expect a small increase after the first year or so, but to have such a substancial increase after only 5 months, and THEN have them send an email trying to squeeze out additional money even though the balance was 0 on the 24th and I was out before the first shows me this is a company not to be trusted to do business in a forthright and honest manner. Even if you are using it for short term storage of a month or two, I'd go elsewhere. I was storing seasonal yard equipment and a motorcycle and had erected heavy duty shelving. My advice would be to NOT put too much into setting up storage in here if you do decide to rent from them. Only gives you more to do to break it down when you discover how they treat their customers. After dealing with the rude staff and poor service at multiple uhauls, we found some comfort in public storage! This place is very clean and well kept! We were able to get a 10x20 climate controlled unit quickly for a decent rate an moving was made easy! I would recommend this place to anyone hands down! Joe was one of the best ! The staff is great! The manager, Joe, is particularly customer service oriented. He knew that we were using the facility out of a hardship situation, not a voluntary situation. After our first six months, Joe helped us to keep our old rate for another six months, along with the help of the previous district manager. (Unfortunately, the new district manager is not nearly as flexible.) Joe was always kind and knew us by name after only a month in the facility. With all the clients he handles, we thought that this was amazing! He was always very understanding, very sympathetic to our situation, and genuinely interested in our progress. Joe is a good person and deserves every break that comes his way in the future! After having almost all our worldly belongings in this facility for nearly 2 and 1/2 years, we will finally be able to move on soon! Out of his kindness and understanding, Joe made this journey much easier for us...thank you Joe! read more
