tl;dr: Storage worked, employees are awful and I would never rent here again. The storage unit I used worked just fine -- the two months my things resided there were fine. Nothing got damaged or stolen. However, my interaction with staff there completely soured me on this location and most likely all Public Storage if we're being dramatic. When I reserved over the phone and completed paperwork in person, Public Storage employees told me of the carts that are available for use. That's super helpful when you have to load from the parking lot, into the elevator, from the elevator and down multiple hallways to your storage unit. After taking off work early and loading up my boyfriend's truck, we schlepped out here with a complete truck full of stuff. I pop into the rental office to ask for the hand cart and the woman rudely informs me that it's too close to closing and I cannot use it. We had arrived there at least 45 minutes before closing. I was polite and practically begged to just use it for 10 minutes and promised I would be back before closing. She said absolutely not, said it was policy. Now if it's "policy," wouldn't you think that's something that would be shared with the renters when they check into their storage unit. I can understand why they wouldn't want to loan the hand carts out close to closing but you HAVE to tell people that ahead of time. So what did we do? Moved everything by hand and it was absolutely awful. When I first checked in and signed all the paperwork, the supervisor told me the woman who was checking me in was new and would I mind leaving a positive google review so she could get more sales. I was completely thrown off by that -- have me review something before I event speak with the woman for more than two minutes? I said sure but it didn't end up working on my phone. The new employee was perfectly nice but not knowledgable about all things Public Storage. I can appreciate how hard it can be to memorize lots of information. While she was trying to sell me on packing items, I felt I could have sold them better and I didn't even work there. read more

Just a basic, brief, not wittily written review to bust out a complaint. I have a unit over at the PS in El Sobrante, and heard about the break ins earlier this year. The only reason I heard about them is because one day when I went to my unit, there were people moving their stuff out - and a woman told me it was because of the break ins, how it was an "inside job" and how you can't even tell anyone has been in your unit, until you discover something missing. There were also 2 policemen checking this out there that day, whom I rode up on the elevator with. When I went to my unit, I could see immediately that things were not as I'd left them the last time I was there. It was obvious someone had attempted to go through some of my things, but realized there was nothing of value and luckily for me, didn't bother to take anything. Still, it's so violating, and I wanted to call or write a letter to report it. I have yet to do so, but I see from some of the reviews here it wouldn't matter if I did contact management at PS! It creeps me out to go to my unit...I've never had any problems (knock knock) other than someone rummaging through my unit!!! - but I just feel security is totally lacking. OBVIOUSLY! I'm working on moving my stuff out ASAP. Another thing is there is only 1 working elevator. There has been 1 other that has been inoperable for something like 3 months now. Totally unacceptable. While the place is clean and basically kept up (which is why I gave them 2 stars) they raise their prices WAY too often. I have been with this storage company for a couple years now. Although they close early, I've stayed with them because they are clean and safe. Well today I just noticed that my monthly amount went up by $60. No notice. No warning. Nothing. I'm going to be leaving this place asap. And it's during Covid. Life has been challenging enough lately and now a rate increase with no heads up. read more

This place is great. Christine was amazing and helped me get a cart to carry my stuff around, and also made sure I was taken are if even though it was 10 minutes to closing time. Hours of operation are ridiculous. If you have a job during the week you can neither access your unit before work or after. You have to buy their lock which is complete BS. I would try another storage company that has local ownership. read more

I have been renting here for 5 years. I have appreciated having a storage unit that has been clean, safe and has had helpful customer service. Recently I have been exploring moving into a smaller unit to save money and Brian, was helpful, going out of his way to help me with my options and finding a solution that worked best for me. I really do not recommend keeping your stuff in storage for 5 years, the cost of the unit has increased a great deal each year - doubled over the time of my stay. Great service is what I experienced. The current Property Manager Nicole is super nice, helpful, friendly, always walking the property and busy at the front desk. Halema was very friendly and helpful too. Made the check out process way easy. I had my unit for a little over two years. Got a great deal online which lasted for several months, but then the fees started going up and up. Why don't they reward long time occupants with a steady rate? That would be the way to go. And they could give their employees a discount for storing their stuff too! There are a ton of spaces and not that many employees. It would be a nice perk for them in today's economy. All in all the place is very clean, well lit, elevators always worked, easy access right off the freeway. No bugs. read more

I thought about whether it was worth my time to write a review for a storage unit... but figured since it only has one negative review, another review might help someone decide whether to give this place a shot or not. The staff was very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. They took me around to about 6 different units so I could pick the floor I wanted and to figure out the right size. I rented a smaller unit (5x10), because I am basically using this unit as an extra "closet" because I just moved in with the boyfriend and storage is tight. I can see how if you were moving your entire house in here, this would NOT be the place to go... because as the other reviewer noted, there is very little room for a moving truck and the elevators are a pain in the a** (there's only 2 of them, so hopefully not too many people are moving in on the day you are!) But for my storage needs... this place is perfect. Good security, and nice clean facility. And all floors are air conditioned. The only thing I wish is that you could access your unit past 9 PM... but I understand the security risk that would create so I'm willing to sacrifice some convenience for a more secure facility. read more

I originally started renting here 2 years ago. I received an excellent deal by booking online and the front desk person was very accommodating. My unit is large and easily accessible. I was generally very happy with my choice. Rates keep going up every 9 months or so by about $35 each time. (Since this is a common practice at most storage places, this is more of an inconvenience than a true complaint.) HOWEVER, my real issue is that my unit was broken into, and I was NEVER EVER told by PS! I was called by the San Pablo PD to ask if I was one of the victims of a large break in a month prior. I ran to my unit and sure enough all my valuables had been stolen. Apparently someone rented a unit to gain access and spent hours after closing rummaging through dozens of units! I'm sure PS didn't want to cause panic by alerting all owners (most units didn't LOOK LIKE they had been broken into as the thieves actually popped the rolling doors out of the rails, superseding the locks) But surely as dozens of people started reporting break ins they should have alerted everyone to check? NOPE. NO APOLOGIES FROM MANAGEMENT After some research and calls to the SPPD I found out that this place has been broken into 4 times in the last year. 4 SEPARATE TIMES! read more

With all the storage companies around I ended up coming to this place because it is the newest ones. I walked into a very nice, clean and with an air conditioned store. I had no problem with parking. The ladies there were very friendly and helpful. The unit I got was great. It was a very clean unit. What more can you say about a storage unit? Well I hope lots of potential customers read this before renting at this place. I have been there for years but 2 weeks ago my unit was cleared out with no signs of forced entry. The locks were in tact etc. The few worthless things that were left behind were then stolen 3 days later! The company seems to not care or inform its customers.I have met many people moving whats left out of this place because of them being burglarized like me..I have met dozens and yet the nightly thefts continue. Also the meager insurance they offer have loop holes that if there is no sign of forced entry then they do not pay.I would run from this place as quickly as you can. This business is the pits. I went there because I had a good experience with their office in Vallejo. However my current experience is terrible and I need to yelp about it. Firstly, I did not get the discount for the first month - false advertising. Secondly, they forced me to buy insurance (which I didn't care for). The office manager told me straight faced that it is mandatory - false advertising because i believe they should pay for their insurance and insert it in the advertized prize and not surprize you with it after you've done your storage search. Thirdly, they forced me to buy their lock for $17.00 which lock is a tube in the door and I cannot take it with me (false advertising again, an administrative fee added to the other $20.00 admin fee). It should have been a deposit fee not a charge. This also means that the staff has my storage key because otherwise, they would have to break the metalic door if I lose mines. Fourthly, I selected to be emailed as a reminder for payment and they did not send any reminder. Instead the manager called me 5 day past the due date insisting to get my credit card on the phone etc. I paid online the same day instead and received instant confirmation, but oops, the payment didn't take. Note that the manager gave me my ID and my 'secret' key for online payment, which key I had no chance to change online. She has them but the program doesn't give her the full credit card number, only the last 4 and the expiration date, so she wants them, or else she will charge me late fees. I am sure I will pay my dues with check and get out of there. I don't care to make an online payment where the staff has both my ID and my 'secret' key and don't care for being harassed every month by manager who's trying to get my credit card information. Please don't rent here. If you have any valuables don't place them here. Lock or no lock it will be stolen. I had no idea my unit had been broken into. My lock was as it was supposed to be, I noticed that my containers hadn't been as I left them. They had been moved and opened. Few of them were stolen. My gut feelings told me something isn't right here. I told my boyfriend I feel like someone was in my stuff. The more I thought about it I started to realized I had been burglarized. Working full time and being busy I hadn't been able to go back and take care of filing a police report or identifying what was taken. Please take pictures of your items every time you go to your unit, also keep a list of what is in it, how much is it worth. If your items are valuables please take them home with you. I have learn a very hard lesson. I trust the place that i pay over $140 per month (they raise the rent every 6-9 months Plus the insurance that is mandatory to rent storage unit and doesn't help you when you have been robbed of your belongings) Also, Often times you can get a moving cart. For all the storage units they have you would think the would have more than 2 moving carts that are never available . Elevators are difficult to use. Apparently there was a burglary inside job going on and I never received any type of notification so that I can go check on my possessions. I went to my storage and noticed things were not like I left them. So I looked up on YELP to see what was going on and this is where I found out about the theft. I'm moving my stuff out and looking for a better location. This dump is not for me. Often there is garbage and left over items all over the back of property. Forget about dropping off stuff during weekends you can never get a cart. I believe that a few of my containers were stolen, I will be making a police report and the awful extra expensive insurance will not cover anything because of how the theft took place. I also tried to call nonstop today and nobody ever answered the phone went straight to voicemail, customer service only want to speak to you about billing issues. They are also a waste of time. Please look and read the other reviews on this place to learn more about this. I will be writing a letter to the District manager, I will be posted it on my Facebook, Instagram, twitter, and all social media accounts so that hopefully nobody else will be victimize by this place. As an update, the unit was actually broken into in July. A few things were stolen that are just irreplaceable like old baseball cards and an archery set from my childhood, among other things. Management didn't even bother to call and let me know, they just put a new lock on the unit and let me find out by coming in and having to ask why a different lock was on the storage (mine had been cut and was found in the unit). The officer from San Pablo PD said that he had been to this site multiple times with the same problem. There are no cameras inside the storage area (only at the entrances/exits) and thus it will be difficult to figure out who stole my belongings. I'm finally able to move my things out this week but am flabbergasted with how little ownership was taken for this theft by the management. To not contact me is irresponsible to say the least. I cannot in good conscience recommend this to anyone and this company needs to take far greater control of the facility. read more
