The manager at the facility was helpful, but their business practice of randomly raising your rates 15% or more in the first 6 months is ridiculous. I have renting for years from this location. For the last 8 months I have ask them to replace the burn out bulbs in my section. I call and they will tell me not yet. I have to work with a head lamp on to see. Really bummer!! You pay top dollar to rent. Lets see if its been done by the 9 month. I was not happy with the rate change. I am not one to complain, but I have had the worst customer service with this storage unit. Firstly, upon sign up, the whole $1 first month special is a scam. Add on another $60 to the total for the insurance premium, admin fee and mandatory lock. Additionally, paying my bill has been a nightmare. I do not live near the storage unit, therefore a walk-in payment is not an option. Unless I want to pay an additional fee to pay over the phone, I figured online payment would be an easy option, but I was wrong... When trying to login into my online profile, my email was not registered upon sign up. Without this, I can not create a new profile. I figured I would call customer service and have this resolved. After 20 minutes of calling an automated customer service line and trying to be connected, I went through a loophole of options and could not be connected. I called the storage office nearly ten times through out the day, left two voicemails and no one answered the phone. The next day I called again and they told me they couldn't help with payment options, but I could call customer service. It has been incredibly difficult to pay my bill, which seems to me to be yet another scam to get more money for a late-payment fee. DO NOT STORE HERE IF YOU CAN NOT PAY IN PERSON. Hmm this is a tough review to write. On one hand I want to give a 5-star review based solely on customer service-- the women at the front desk are sweet and efficient. BUT (& this but is one gigantic hole in my heart but) the way Public Storage schemes and scams their first-time customers with HIDDEN FEES is just outright ridiculous. I go in there looking to pay $35-$40 for a storage unit (advertised price) and come out spending $100 because of hidden freaking fees!!! $24 administrative fee $11-$15 MANDATORY insurance fee $21.79 lock fee Not fun. Not fair. I don't mind paying the extra $56 but seriously, inform your customers of ALL fees BEFORE you take them on a tour and get them to sign a bunch of paperwork. Had this unit less than a month and found out the facility had a flood. I was notified 5 days after the flood occurred. Their explanation for delay in notification was because they decided to prioritize notifying other units prior to us. We had so much stuff damaged that is irreplaceable and probably would have been salvaged if we were notified immediately rather than our items sitting in water for 5 days. When I asked the staff what kind of water it was so that I properly clean my items the refused to answer me and were beyond rude. The only nice helpful person was Carmen but staff here does not care and rather sit on their phones and talk about personal matters in front of waiting customers. read more

My parents and I were in search of a good storage unit. This location and customer service exceeded my expectations. Mieashia was so great, funny, attentive. My parents were concerned about not being able to navigate the different hallways and Mieashia made sure to find us a unit that is easily accesible. Mieashia was fantastic! I feel that the Public Storage insurance fee is too high, for the unit I have. Why do we need to pay for insurance, the building itself already has property insurance. Just got a storage unit at this location. Place is clean and very accessible as its right by the 405. It was a Monday afternoon, 3 staff in front and still not enough to manage the amount of people waiting. The wait aside, everything exceeded my expectations. Everything was well explained by Whitney, the girl which assisted me. Only have 3 gripes about my experience though. 1. Why so much paperwork Public Storage? It probably took us 15-20mins to print and go through the necessary paperwork. In this day and age, why not go digital? iPads for rental agreements and email to your customers! Save paper duh. 2. Left the place happy, got on the 405 (gasp!) and not a minute later get a phone call from Whitney saying she forgot to hand me my keys! Probably cost me a good 20minutes to turn around for it. The units in Hawthorne are very nice and clean and looked like recent construction at least compared to a previous PS building that I had rented from. Venus and Mercedes were very welcoming, and Angie was extremely helpful in showing me the place and showing me three different lockers before I selected one. There are ample parking and a wide loading ramp. The units look clean and appear to be secured. It helps to look up the online rates and promotions. Be advised that there are a one-time administration fee and mandatory monthly insurance for a relatively low cost. Also, as a previous renter from PS, I didn't qualify for the discounted first month's rent. However, all in all, I'm happy with the customer service there and the look and feel of the property. read more

Deceptive and rude. I made my reservation on line to get a space in 3 days. Less than 3 mins after I completed the reservation, I received the first call from PS to confirm my reservation. I then received 5 more calls in the following two days asking if I wanted to come in early. When I came in the day I reserved, I had the quote I received via email. I was told that it would be considerably more, approximately 30%, because of the cost of insurance and I needed to buy their lock as well. I refuse to give my money to businesses that use deceptive practices. read more

I have to say I'm disappointed at the customer service here. Who holds a meeting about customer service during the business hours? I pay for a service and expect the service to be a available when I need it. I walked two heavy boxes from my storage unit to the front desk only to see they are having a meeting. It takes the manager more time to come tell me to walk around to get outside than be courteous and let me walk through the small lobby. My second issue was the price increase from $232 to $286 after the sixth month. Facilities are decent but for the price I would expect better treatment. No trash bins available (zero bins) and you do not have access to carts after hours. read more

I went to 4 other storage facilities before making my choice on this particular storage location. The other 4 places were double the price for less space. But more importantly, the man who assisted me named KEVIN had AWESOME customer service. He immediately assisted me when I walked in the door, greeted me with a smile, gave me a tour, and answered all questions that I had as it related to my needs. Even though I got an awesome price, if I had been offered the unit for the price that the other 4 locations quoted, I would've chosen this particular location anyway based upon the customer service alone...Even though the other storage facilities was in walking distance from me and this particular location is a little out the way. read more

Venus and Nicole were very helpful in showing me the facility. Facility is clean and easy to enter. There is a large loading dock to accommodate moving tracks as well as the larger semi's that do cross-country moves. Prices here were pretty good compared to other L.A. properties, but obviously that can change at any time. read more

She started by being a good listener and let me vent my concerns. After hearing me out, she provided sound, calm advice and recommendations. Most importantly, Natalie took immediate action and followed up with a mutually agreed solution. She acted with complete confidence, warmth, and understanding - she is a real pro and deserves to be promoted and recognized. I sincerely believe that her professional behavior is consistently extended to all PS customers but she made me feel like a valued client. I get the sense that her peers respect her as well and hold her in high esteem.
