They offer referral fees and I've always been credited, even when I didn't know the person showed up and rented. Prices are exceptionally lower than other storage facilities. Strong big wooden doors to keep others from breaking in. Sr. Citizen discount that truly helps. Jesse the Manager in Lake Forest, has been amazing at maintaining the facility clean and secure for safety/security. He's been with the owners for a long time. Nice guy with a good heart for his tenants. I won't pay the extra rental costs (somewhere else) so a large public 'stock traded' storage corporation can impress their 'stock investors' with huge 'executive paychecks'. That is ridiculous simply to rent a small storage, when having a hard time, already. The owners of American Storage have been wonderful to their tenants. I don't mind paying their family business their fair rental price. This is one service I really lucked out. Thank you, the Sr. Discount has helped too. Thank you for your honest business dealings during the hardest time of my life. You were the only storage facility when shopping around that didn't try to bamboozle me.

    They do shady business here. I have never used public storage for anything until about a year ago,…read moreso here's my experience so far... I store a small boat here. Originally, the monthly rate was $168 - reasonable. Within the past year, it increased to $220, then recently it increased to $306. When I contacted customer service they stated it will likely continue to increase every 6 months indefinitely. Additionally, I have had several items stolen from the boat. Each time I approached management, I was informed that the security cameras were down and was offered zero in compensation for over $1,000 in stolen items. In short, this place sucks. Do yourself a favor and look somewhere else to store your things!

    We have a had a unit here for 8 years. We moved to a bigger size unit in 2021. It started at $191…read moreand is now at $433 a month ! Crazy how high it went. We decided to move out this weekend! No longer wanting to pay this ridiculous rate. When my husband and son went this morning to start taking our things out at about 7 AM. They found that someone was living in one of the units on the third floor! They said that it smelled really bad. This person was in there the entire time they were doing move out and when they went back later he was still there. My husband went to the front office when he was done moving out and let them know we are ending our time with them. He then told them that there was somebody living in a unit on the 3rd floor. Their reaction was "yes ,we know we're keeping an eye on him! He has fallen on some hard times!" It is my understanding that these are storage units, not living units. If I had gone alone by myself, I would not have appreciated finding some person living there near my unit. We will be contacting corporate about this. This is ridiculous and totally not safe for the units or people coming to get their stuff.

    This facility appears to primarily operate as a storage business, and the staff seemed either…read moreundertrained or unfamiliar with properly processing U-Haul rentals. What should have been a simple pickup took over an hour just to get a van assigned which I complied with because the two people helping me were kind and trying their best to learn the process. Once the van was finally assigned, I discovered there were bugs both inside and outside of the vehicle, and even worse the van would not start. This has been my 4th time renting a U Haul this year and I'm super familiar with them as well as the check out process, it's normal for trucks to have issues sometimes and anytime this has happened I was assigned another vehicle so I immediately went back inside expecting a quick resolution and a replacement vehicle. Instead, the employee refused to switch me into another van and said that there are no more cars in the lot. He insisted on coming outside to investigate the problem himself. At that point, I had already wasted over an hour and was trying to move. Time was extremely important, and I did not want to continue waiting around while employees attempted to troubleshoot a vehicle that should never have been rented out in the first place. After pointing out another van sitting in the lot, I was then told that vehicle was supposedly assigned to someone else and that nothing could be done. Rather than finding a solution, I felt completely stuck. The most frustrating part was the person I am speaking about is one employee who inserted himself into the situation after two other staff members had actually been trying to help. Instead of improving the situation, he made it significantly worse. He came across as confrontational, dismissive, and passive aggressive. As the situation continued, his attitude became increasingly worse and I had had enough of his disrespect so I said he seemed like someone who clearly hated his job based on how he was speaking to me a customer just trying to get my truck and leave, he responded by telling me that if I planned to report him to management, there were cameras throughout the facility and I completely agree that the cameras should absolutely be reviewed because they would show exactly how this situation was handled. No customer should spend over an hour trying to pick up a rental vehicle, be given a van with bugs that won't start, and then be met with constant resistance when asking for a reasonable solution. Moving is stressful enough and worse when employees are creating additional problems instead of solving them. I would not recommend renting a U-Haul from this location unless significant improvements are made to staff training, vehicle inspection procedures, and customer service.
