MY UNIT WAS BROKEN INTO! DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! I've never written a yelp review before but this place finally swayed me. Not only was my unit broken into and about $15,000 worth of tools stolen. Public Storage knew my unit was tampered back in September with AND FAILED COMPLETELY TO CONTACT ME TO LET ME KNOW! Thieves were able to get into the unit next to mine, then smashed through the wall into my unit. Instead of calling me to let me know, they merely nailed up plywood over the hole in the walls and called it a day. Completely Outrageous. Just now starting to deal with what I'm sure is going to be an insurance nightmare. read more

Can I give less than a star? Drug deals outside both days I was there by the same person. Then the dealer and "friend" come inside walking right by a employee. Bottles of urine by the elevators again, multiple days in a row just sitting there. I bring these things up to the employee. Instead of apologizing or offering to help she starts getting a attitude on me saying she has a idea who it is, then back peddles and says she doesn't know what I'm talking about. They literally trade drugs off right in front of the window she looks out, and it's not on the low it's obvious, then you let them in? It makes me wonder if she's getting a cut? Def moving my stuff out and would never recommend this place, customer service didn't seem to care either. read more

Well if I could give a negative star or maybe two I certainly would. When I booked my reservation for a unit online, it super easy but this was to be the only part of my experience that would be simple. The day of my move in, I was told that my unit had not been reserved and there were no more 1st floor, same size and price available. I am a flexible person so when they offered me another unit on the third floor and guaranteed me the price I reserved for I was satisfied. Willie also advised me that they would "contact their district manager" to get all the pricing adjusted, because he was incapable of adjusting the price. Well once the first month's bill came due, the price was not adjusted, even though a month had passed. I had to call three times before anyone picked up the phone, even after I left a message the first call and waited several hours before trying again. I was told by Diana that she would "reach out to the district manager and I would be called right back." I waited three hours for a return phone call, I never received, before driving over to the location. Once there I politely asked about the situation and was treated with hostility, and rudeness by Willie, that how dare I want to have an idea of when this was resolved. Also, very harshly, I was advised that they had "contacted their district manager" and that it would be resolved. In addition Willie told me the price was only good for "6 months", the first that I had been advised of this eventual price change. Then when I inquired about how much the price would go up Willie brusquely told me that "it's up to corporate". A week later when the bill was actually due, the price had still not been adjusted and once again I will need to go in and figure out what the heck is going on. I hope that not all public storages are this disorganized, but for anyone in search of a storage unit, avoid this location as if it were the Black Plague. Buyer Beware: My son is in between houses and stored all his belongings here. His things were stolen along with two other people within a week. His tools, jewelry making gear, amplifier for his guitar, electronics and who knows what else is gone. Public Storage only seems to have one security camera on the elevator that no one seems to review. The worst part is that he did have insurance, but Segewick Claims, the insurance company won't help him without either, photos of him with his stuff or receipts for his things. Some of these items were gifts and much of his crafting materials were purchased around the world and at gem and mineral locations that don't even give receipts. So until Public Storage changes insurance companies and beefs up its security measures I would suggest taking your personal things of value to you to another location. Or as a word of caution, take photos of you with all your stuff. We've been searching through reciepts and old photos and now have some quantifiable evidence of some of the loss, but since we took more than a couple of weeks to compile the data, Sedgewick Claims has put his claim on an innactive list so it looks like he's been paying for worthless insurance. I wish that I could say ANYTHING positive about this place, but unfortunately it's probably one of the most dreadful places I've ever been. We just finished moving out of our unit here, and I couldn't be happier about it. I keep asking myself how we even moved in here in the first place, but I digress (the location was just convenient I guess). There are so many reasons why this place is bad, but I think yelp has a character limit - so here's my top 5: - While on the outside, this building looks like a historical landmark, on the interior this building looks like it should be condemned. It's that bad. Dirty, foul smelling, and even the units are dicey. There's been some leakage in our unit (as well as others) - luckily it didn't damage anything since it's mostly boxes - just got lucky on that. - The elevators literally never work in this place - every time I've been there, either 1 or both elevators have been out of commission. This basically brings this place to a standstill because there are about 15 floors in this place. - There has been construction going on here for at least the last year - good for them that they're doing renovations, but I don't think any renovations can salvage it, honestly. - This place seems like it's NEVER open - especially during the weekends. I mean it's criminal that they open at like 10AM and close at 5PM - hello, it's a storage facility, not a bakery. And it's even worse that they basically wont even let you in the facility after 4:30PM. I got there at 4:45 once, and they had already locked the gate. - There is VERY little parking behind the gate - every weekend that I've been here, all the parking spaces have been full. Some of the spaces are taken up by the port-a-potties that they have to use because of all the renovations. Those port-a-potties might actually be an upgrade over the actual bathrooms here, but that's another story. And trying to park your car here is like playing Russian Roulette. You better monitor your car while you're parked since someone will most likely ding your car because the quarters are so close - and people are in such a rush to get in/out of there that they couldn't care less if they bump into your car. I also picked up a flat tire in this facility last weekend on our move-out day, which was the perfect end to a dreadful experience. My advice is if you need a storage facility, drive an extra few miles to Glendale where the facilities are MUCH better. Just moved to A-1 Storage, and it is like a 5 star hotel compared to this. Ok, it took me a while, but i thought of a positive thing to say - Mario the manager is actually a very nice and helpful guy. He understands that the conditions currently are less than ideal, but there's only so much he can do. I'm just not sure that Public Storage really cares about their facilities, because they know people will rent from them regardless because of the brand recognition, and the $1 first month rent. Additional advice - don't let that good deal suck you in! I'm pretty sure they're ONLY renovating this place because it was on the verge of being condemned. read more

People are nice, very informative. I had to get a storage for a month in between apartments. They gave me the $1 first month promotion witch was cool. Only paid 50$ for insurance lock and other fees. Apartment was pushed back an additional month and they wanted to charge me the full amount of 215$. I talked to them and they let me put my stuff in the next Space over for the 1$ promotion. It was a bit of a pain to move it all from one storage to another but it saved me 170$ in about an hour. Place is always clean and is open during during hours that are pretty suitable for the average person. Overall, offer do business here again. read more

My unit is on the top floor and was burglarized of all my belongings as thieves came through the gated ceiling above my unit (which is always genius to have by the way). Definitely an i side job. The associate that set us up, Diana, was completely fantastic; couldn't ask for more! A+ for her. But the whole "$1 First Month" promotion is a scam beyond scams. There is a $24 "administrative fee" AND you are required to buy their ultra-specific idiot lock for the unit ($22). At the end of the day, our "$1 first month" cost us over $58. I have a business card where it says that I have access to the building at 6am. I borrowed a truck, and brought a friend with me to help me move somethings out of storage before work. We get to PB at 6am and soon realized that the parking gates were locked and there was no keypads to enter a code. I called their main office to verify business hours and they told me 6am. Their rep apologized and said there was nothing she could do. Oh and btw, she also signed me off auto pay by accident and was asking if I had my checkbook on me WTH?? Anyway, a sign that says business hours have changed would have been helpful. Now, I have to take a day off from work and find someone else to help me move. Crazy thing is that I was just gong to move a bed out but after today (since I'll be forced to take they day off from work) I'll have the time to move all my stuff out. read more

This is my first Yelp review Ive ever written, and its all because my experience with Public Storage was so bad. After loading up my UHaul I headed to the Public Storage on 6th St. that I had called and received an confirmation email for. I pull in the "Entrance" and the lady comes out and tells me I can't go through there I have to pull around into the "Exit". The guy behind me was confused as well and I heard him tell the lady it did not make sense. So I get there at 4pm and she tells me all the elevators were down. I said "are you serious" and she says yeah the small one just went down and the big one has been down for a while. I asked what floor would my unit be on and she said Top. She redirected me to the other Public Storage on Beverly and Virgil. I arrive at 4:15pm and show my reservation. She said we can do the paperwork today but I couldn't move in until the next day because the paperwork took a half hour and they closed at 5pm. I explained that I was at the 6th street location at 4pm sharp and it wasn't told ahead of time that elevators were down when I reserved the unit. On top of that I only had the truck for 1 day and told Uhaul it would be back by 6pm so I would have to pay for another day. Plus find somewhere to park it overnight with all my furniture in it. They said there's nothing they could do. After explaining I shouldn't have to pay for an extra day for the truck because things weren't right on their end they went and got the manager (started with "N" I believe - Female) She had an attitude like the other woman and then told me they didn't have what I reserved so I would have to pay more for something larger. She said same company but rates vary by location which again didn't make sense. I said I was gonna try to reach corporate and the girl gave a chuckle as I was on the phone. I went ahead and got the larger unit not knowing what else to do. She hit the wrong button on the elevator and we went to 7th floor instead of 2nd probably cause she could tell I was impatient and stalling or just being petty. The unit I received was at the end of what seemed like a small maze with no working light outside the unit (A friend and I had to use our cellphone flashlights the next day to get my stuff in) after everything was said and done I still had 15 minutes left until 5pm and she still wouldn't let me move anything in when there were people clearly moving things inside. When I asked she closed the gate. I understood they didn't wanna be there any longer than 5pm, but I had few items and could at least unloaded some if not all. I said I would leave at 5 sharp, and still a NO. I know one of them had a nail appointment so I don't blame her (JK). I honestly believe they found joy in frustrating me even more instead of being accommodating to a paying customer. I am considering read more

Nothing against the people that work at this location or the location itself, it serves it's purpose as you would expect, but the company itself is crap. Find another place to store your things. They have wildly changing prices from month-to-month, they do not send a reminder to pay your bill, they will not give you a late fee adjustment until you've rented for over a year and one month your bill will be 29$ and the next $200. They are pretty much guaranteed to raise the rent on you after three months. Somebody told me and I didn't believe until they did it to me. I'm truly disappointed with this bad location in what I believed to be a pretty strong company. Making the reservation on line and then going to this PS for the first time were both decent easy experiences, as one would hope. It pretty much comes to a crashing halt there. {play shattering glass sound repeatedly here}. So its the Sunday after turkeyfest and I've arranged for my household items to move from onsite storage at my last digs to this PS. I've used PS off and on for various storage needs over these past ten years in LA. All positive experiences (except maybe cost, but I'm cheap). So today the mover dudes are meeting me at this PS with my mentionables. The gates close promptly at 4:45. ISSUE 1: horrible gate hours. Yes I could have gone somewhere else, but truth be known, the bankers hours this place keeps wouldn't be but an annoyance if all other things are equal. And no no no, they are not. ISSUE 2: the nasty nanny staff. I realize working at a self storage where u barely lift a finger (except when pointing to your 'restroom out of order' sign) is likely boring as it gets. However I am not there to entertain you or be your whipping boy. (Quick recap). I arrived roughly at 1:00, gates close at 4:45, movers expected at two. And there were a few bags and boxes to be organized that I brought over on day 1. My unit is at the intersection of the hall that feeds the elevator bank and the long corridor on the left side coming off the elevator. It's a traffic zone and if my door were wide open no one could use that as a through-hall (new word?). I am there less than 20 min with the door cracked about 6' for light and air when one of our nasty nannies bursts in wondering why this door is unlocked (duh, it's called SELF storage). I explained, unnecessarily I might add, that I was simply organizing waiting on movers I got rollled eyes and a hrumph. She closed the door and went after some other poor fool. 2 goes by as does 3. Movers are incommunicado. I'm maintaining sanity by catching Pokémon In my unit and nearby on the floor. At 4, all three nasty nannies (the full complement of staff working at that time) came up to advise me of a complaint from a fellow fool that I was sleeping in my unit {sarcasm to ensue here} The unit looks and smells so much like my boyhood home I must have simply been delirious with comfort. Then a lecture about 'hanging out in my unit' is a no no. No one asks me what I'm doing. No one cares that no 40 winks were taken and that I wouldn't let roadkill expire there. Which brings me to ISSUE 3: the units and hallways are disgusting. The unit has never been swept, I expect. Everything you do kicks up a very dry dust storm. There is no airflow and nary a broom or mop in sight. I guess it's too much to ask surly nannies to use a broom occasionally. I'm not expecting much from a storage facility on this matter, but the conditions were so out of the norm, even my nonnexpectations were shattered. Given the cleanliness issue with all these mite type organisms in the dust of ages, I feel fairly secure saying I was not using the bare dirty concrete mite-ridden floor as my daybed. If I had been in violation of these nanny rules previously I would not question their suspicions. But this is my second day there and there were only two other groups that accessed that floor when I was there. I know they didn't accuse me of sleeping there. The nannies were simply deflecting. In summation, unless being harassed is your 'thing' and dust mites on a filthy floor gets a rise out of you, do yourself a favor and side step this very unprofessional establishment PS. I had considered going to another location not too far from this one which was a little cheaper, but I'm glad to have chosen this location, as the building seemed clean, safe, well maintained, and their staff were all very kind and helpful. The storage unit I ended up going with was right for me and my storage situation. And the price was fair. The only negative I'd mention is that the day I went in, their elevator was not functioning, but Linda helped me to find a great 1st floor unit, such that the elevator was not an issue for me. read more
