Do not try to put a 'hold' a unit online, every web page had 'next' at the bottom, so of course I pressed it. Then it asked for the credit card, I thought it was odd, but sure. Sure enough, I paid for a unit that was supposed to be only a hold as we were making decisions. I called to cancel the hold a few hours later, they said they can't refund the $29 admin fee. I called customer service and they hung up on me. Incredibly bad customer service. read more

When someone leaves messages for several weeks and no one will call me back. When I am told that I would be getting a prorated refund of $140 for paying double the fees for the same unit in one month. And literally any other storage facility in the Coachella valley is cheaper than this place. So overpriced. tanisha at this facility is an excellent customer service person; she gets a 10! when it comes to corporate, i would give them a minus 10! do yourself a big favor and find another place to store your stuff. i had an introductory rate and they added 50%. fred first, at corp office could only read to me from their manual. so i asked for a manager, i was connected to alfred. he was the very same stuffed shirt. he informed me they could raise the rate anytime, even if you have prepaid. he also told me there was no one above him. he needs to be shown the management chart; everyone has someone above them except the owner! if the owner doesn't know there are many customer service training courses available to his personnel! once again, do yourself a favor and find another place to store your things. i have no idea how the company gets a 4.8 on google. i tried to place a google review on the corporate website and you couldn't, therefore buyer beware they must be.choosing the rates they want to include! thanks for listening! read more

The location is ideal on Gene Autry and Dinah Shore and the facility is in very good condition (apart from the secured door which has had a broken handle for weeks now so anyone can open it without a code). My real issue is in the facilities ability to raise the monthly rent ANY ANY POINT and TO ANY AMOUNT (there is NO CAP on an increase)! I started paying $141 (before insurance) for a 5'x10' space and within 6 months it was increased to $224 (pre-insurance). If this is standard practice for all storage facilities (this was my first one), then I guess there's no point moaning about this. If not, you may want to consider competitive companies. It was not only the fact that I had two increases within 16 months but that the increase was such a non-trivial amount. This seems tantamount to bait & switch. Customer beware! read more

Beware of the bait and switch ! I got my original unit for $100+. A few months later, my account increased to $130+ then six months later $186! All of this without notice. I callled and asked for a reduced rate. They knocked off $20 per month. I'm still up 66% from my original rate in 2021. While the local support team has been helpful, the corp folk could care less. It sucks that a business can make a commitment then totally raise prices without any warning. be sure to ask about it if you do business with these folks. If you are a customer, beware! The customer comes last!!! read more

Here's my review and I hope you find it helpful. I rented at Public Storage on 03/07/2020 in a "Secure" 10x10 interior climate-controlled 1st-floor storage unit for $147/mo ($136 rent & $11 for their mandatory scam insurance coverage). The facility was okay...just okay, but never secure. The gate was broken several times and would be left open for days at a time, the security doors to each building are rigged to never lock, and 4 units were broken into in the first 3 months. I spoke with a woman who's unit was broken into who told me that when she spoke to the office staff they were rude, dismissive, offered no help and told her there was nothing they could do. She called customer service for the MANDATORY $11.00/mo. insurance plan and was told it did NOT cover renter's belongings and only covered damage to the storage facility. On 09/2020 they raised my rent to $160 and gave no reason. The gate was regularly broken, the restroom by the gate was closed more often than open, and there were 2 more break-ins. So, as you would expect, Jun 2021 they raised my rent to $206 even though they did NOTHING at the facility to justify the increase!! The gate would continually break, the buildings were still unsecured, the office staff were rude, and the bathroom was almost always out of order. I was even locked out on Christmas Day because the keypad wouldn't work and no one answered the office number and the 800 number is all automated, so I was forced to spend over $150 for new dishware and table items for my Christmas dinner! And not even an apology from the staff! The final kick was in Jan 2022 when I received an email telling me that effective 03/01/2022 the rent would be raised to $265 a month ($254+$11)!!!!! $265 for the same 10'x10' unit I rented only 2 years ago for $147!! They've made no improvements to the facility, their business doesn't rely on shipped goods, it isn't affected by oil prices, and they had no increases in land costs, meaning the rent increases are 100% due to GREED!! On 02/05/2022, I paid my final storage fee of $206 and moved my stuff. read more

I just called and they would not honor their ad up on Yelp - I will post photos. This is false advertising and plenary of storage places give 1st month free. I tried to talk to their national call center but the guy said if it was not on their main site the would not honor it. Further he said it was only on specific size units. There were not * telling me to look for the fine print! Totally a case of false advertising. In fairness if there were a way to reach local Palm Springs folks - they might honor it. read more

Was robbed 2 times in 6 months . DO NOT RENT FROM THIS!!!! My units were doubled locked, there is NO security. Staff & district manager do not assist in helping when there is a break in, and don't cooperate to help police with footage either. Been through it 2 times now. Officially moving out this month. Lost 20,000$ , their policies only give you 5k max , so my advice if you have to rent here, get your own insurance policy and don't store anything you don't want to get stolen. This place is a thieves paradise . They will just come in with pliers, and a drill and drill through the crappy lock that you must use. See pics of recent break in here. They employee Adam laughed at me yesterday when I asked to have my unit locking mechanism fixed. So this really wraps up this facilities attitude towards renters. I made a reservation online for a move in date they rented my reservation without informing me. The message they left on the phone was letting me know they were there for me if I wanted to do the rental right then and there., but I can do it the day of my reservation. At no time did they say they were going to rent to someone it I didn't pay up right then an there. A reservation by definition is just that; you reserve and after your actual time if you do not show you lose it. You don't just give that reservation away until after. Very bad business practices. I don't recommend them at all!!! read more

I did the contactless rental, and it was the first truly contactless process that I've ever done. They sent me the unit # and gate code the day before my rental, and entry was a breeze. The unit was clean, and lock and key were inside the unit, which was secured with a temp security tag to show if the unit had been opened by someone else. this is my 2nd time renting here, and I remain very happy with the security, 6am 9pm access hours (better than others), havibg a code that's not the last 4 of your phone number, and the cleanliness. They do seem strict about their rules, which is good in my book. read more

So far this place is a BIG ZERO for me. I rented this place online. PREPAID MIND YOU because I read reviews online that they give your storage units away. The day of my move they call me Josh the manager to tell me they don't have my unit available. I had already signed the contract, paid and he said it wasn't available. I told him that was unacceptable. He finally figured it out and was able to get me the unit I PAID FOR. Once the movers got there the code they provided DIDNT WORK! That was a hassle to get it reset. Then once the movers were done they let me know public storage did NOT leave me a LOCK THAT I ONCE AGAIN PAID FOR!!!! This entire experience has been a NIGHTMARE!!!!! First, I wish there were an option for no stars. This is to follow up on my earlier post about the poor business practices of Public Storage in Palm Springs. Now, after talking to a guy named Fernando, they're intent on playing hardball. After several months of use I gave up a large storage unit in mid-July. The day my movers arrived (July 18th, 2020) I went into the office and told the lady representative that I was moving out. I had already paid for the entire month of July and I knew I was obligated to do that. I asked the lady in the office if that was all I had to do (move out and tell them I was vacating) and she verified that. Nonetheless I was charged for August because they claimed they didn't know I had moved out. So on August 3rd they tried to charge me $329. I disputed the charge on my credit card and Public Storage has until the end of the month to respond; a decision is to be made in October. But Fernando doesn't seem to want to resolve this with MasterCard, somehow claiming that he doesn't have to. Apparently Public Storage thinks they're not to be held accountable for information provided by their staff. I'll update this post periodically. Hopefully Public Storage will begin to operate in a more business-like, and less threatening, manner. read more

I am moving to the desert and reserved a storage unit a few weeks ago. Yesterday, after receiving a confirmation from public storage I went to sign the paperwork only to find out they gave my unit to someone else. The guy at the desk said First Come First Serve which completely dumbfounded me to say the least. He also said he was going to call me to let me know the bad news but of course never did until I showed up in person. I called the district manager and of course crickets. Confirmation emails mean nothing I guess and I will never use public storage again. read more

I am writing this review on behalf of a friend who has had a unit at their Palm Springs location for a number of years. He now lives overseas and returned recently to find the padlock missing and the door being unable to open. Apparently, they had noticed this some time (years) back and had left messages at his contact numbers. These unfortunately did not reach him. When the unit was visited on his return, the staff were most unhelpful. "We'll get a guy in to open the door. May take 1-2 days". A week later and nothing had happened. His calls to head office went unreturned. The local manager refused to provide his supervisor's contact details. When the unit was finally opened, there appeared to be only one item missing - a quite valuable piece of furniture. Their motto appears to be "no care, no responsibility". They have some external cameras, but no internal ones. The staff's lackadaisical attitude speaks volumes. Look elsewhere! read more

This place has horrible customer service. They set me up with a reservation to talk with the property manager at 9:30am to rent one of their units. I get there on time and it's locked. I called about 7 times and waited over an hour to have someone come in and show me the unit. All they did was put me on hold and gave me No answers to where the property manager was at. Then they tell me that I can rent it Online, but I tell them that what was the point of seeing a property manager to reserve one or give me a walkthrough. This place definitely sucks. I don't recommend it and communicating sucks. Also one of the clients that rents from them told me that no one is usually working inside the office, and that half the time their main entrance gate doesn't work. read more

-- Friday 4/23/21 I went to get a small item from my unit and discovered two locks missing; the padlock and cylinder roll-up-door. A temporary door cylinder lock had been replaced. I had no access at that point to my unit. ­-- I reported this to the front desk. The manager Josh checked his records and told me in 2019 he discovered the locks missing so he had replaced the door cylinder lock with a temporary cylinder lock. After I reported this to Josh, he unlocked the temporary cylinder lock but we found the door to be jammed. Josh called his boss, Fernando Sonco, to request a repairman come to open the door. I was promised a repairman and a call within 48 hours. -- Next day I stopped in and spoke to Josh to ask if a repairman had confirmed coming. Josh called his boss again to check. I asked to speak with his boss but was told "NO". I was promised possibly next day for repairman but that didn't happen. When I stated that I was frustrated that I could not speak to his boss, Josh replied to me: "We are doing you a favor..the weekend is his boss' day off". -- I stopped in on Monday, after 48 hours had passed, to say I was a bit concerned that I could still not get into my unit. Josh called his boss. I asked to speak with his boss but was told "NO". I was promised a repairman within the next 24 hours. It did not happen. -- On Wednesday, a second 48 hours had passed, I stopped in again to the office and told Josh 48 hours had again passed and I was getting very concerned and would be leaving Palm Springs within 10 days. Josh called his boss again. I asked to speak with his boss but was told again "NO". -- Each time I listened to Josh's conversation with his boss, I was always referred to as "the customer with the jammed door". Never once did I hear mention of missing locks. I thought this was strange as if Josh was covering something up from his boss. -- Towards the end of the week I finally received a call from Josh to come meet the repairman. The repairman opened the door. I discovered that my antique chair, that had belonged to my great great grandmother, had been taken. Nothing else was touched or disturbed. A large chest had been pushed forward to jam the door. Nothing had fallen down and pushed the chest forward. I did not leave the chest like that. -- I am now writing to complain about the runaround that I feel was given by Josh and his boss Fernando Sonco. I had to wait close to a full week, without access to my unit, to finally get the door open. -- During the course of this week I called corporate office to share my frustration and concern about my unit at 818-244-8080. I left two messages, a day apart, with a Bee Dalton. My very polite calls were never returned! -- I have made a police report. When I phoned Josh to get an exact date for the report, Josh gave me a different date: May 22. 2020. -- I have sent in my insurance claim. 1. I found two locks missing. 2. Josh and his boss did not take this seriously and I was given a runaround. 3. I feel that something suspicious and malicious has happened. 4. Josh reported to me that usually when there is a break-in, metal shavings would be found on the floor. He reported that there were no metal shavings or any mess. So this has happened before? 5. I was never allowed to speak with Josh's boss. 6. I was given two different dates. 7. When I had questions about the locks Josh responded: "I don't know why you don't understand!" 8. When I asked on a Sunday, while Josh was on the phone with his boss Fernando, to please let me speak to him I was refused. Josh said to me: "We're doing you a favor. It's my boss' day off!" 9. I've been a paying customer for over 10 years...NOBODY IS DOING ME A FAVOR!!! 10. Josh said he tried phoning me to report the missing locks with the number I had given as a contact but it was disconnected. This is true, but why wasn't I sent an email? -- Something is not right here and I was not treated well or efficiently. read more

Have been a customer here for several years. Moving our stuff out this weekend but only because we no longer need to store the items in Palm Springs. This place has been wonderful. The staff is always friendly, courteous and always happy to help. The halls and units are spotlessly clean and well air conditioned. Highly recommend this storage facility! read more

This review is from my initial experiences with Public Storage in Palm Springs. The process was smooth and easy to move in. I reserved a place online the night before, got there 30 mins after opening, got a call from one of the employees, Akiel, pretty much right when I was pulling up. I was impressed that I was receiving a follow up so promptly after I had reserved a space. I was given a tour of the unit, Akiel explained the process and policies extremely well, and then I was even given time to explore other companies while my unit was still reserved for me. After going to other storage units I returned here and moved in the same day! Akiel is a rockstar here!! Professional, helpful, and very personable. Thanks for the help! read more

I moved to the area a few months ago. It was a tough move since I was completely unprepared. Unable to find adequate housing quickly, I decided to put my belongings in storage and stay with a friend until I could get myself together. Public Storage was nearby, so I went for a look-see. Admittedly, I was frustrated and in a bad mood, all my fault. Then I encountered Tom. He was gracious and professional. He was so friendly that he changed my mood. The facility was very clean and I felt comfortable that my stuff would be secure. I have returned a few times and Tom is always helpful. read more

Alma was very professional, courteous and VERY thorough!!! Yes, it seems like the paperwork process is a bit intense, but I guess it's to cover them against problem clients. She did state that I HAD to have THEIR insurance now, but I had the option to check on my personal renter's policy to see if they might cover my storage unit and then bring in proof to cancel their insurance. I really didn't want this stuff insured as it was stuff I was going to donate, but at the last moment someone wanted it. So, as a favor, I am storing it for her for a month. Therefore, it's worth NOTHING to me! Why MUST I have insurance??? Strange policy, but not Alma's fault, so I signed the paperwork as requested. Alma kindly walked me to the unit to show me the location of my unit. The location was clean, easy to get in and out of and she provided me with a lock to use. My biggest frustration is that this is my second unit I've rented there in one weeks time and neither time was I offered the $1.00 first month rent??? That's blasted on TV and ads and even on THIS site, but no one offered me this deal? Why? :( read more

Very disappointed in their security and response to a break in recently. This facility was broken into two weeks ago and they have no policy to call the police the minute they noticed the break in into three differ storage units. They have no 24/7 video, doors broken into weren't replaced until 48 hours later, security is lacking. I would think twice before storing your valuables at this place. We found a much more secure facility to go to. read more

This storage facility is better than we hoped for. The units we saw are super clean and well lit. We ended up renting two different units; one climate controlled and the other not. The very best part of our experience has been the staff who run the place. Both Tom and Luna were very helpful, knowledgeable and (most importantly) kind to us during our somewhat stressful move. Mountains of paperwork and robot like customer service. They act like they are running NASA. It really seems like they go out of their way to let you know all the rules they have and make it inconvenient to do business with them. We love this place! From the very first phone call (asking for rates), the customer service has exceeded our expectations. We visit Public Storage quite frequently to take items in or out of our 2 units; Sheila has been there to answer our questions and address any concerns. Sheila knows us by name and stops by our unit to say hello and chat with my 90-year-old mother. The complex is clean and well lighted at night, so you don't have to worry about dropping off or picking up "stuff" in the evening. You feel that your belongings are safe and secure. We've been happy customers for over two years now and wouldn't think of using another storage facility. read more
