BEWARE!! DO NOT STORE THINGS HERE! This facility has had a massive string of robberies in the last year. This company will not tell you what is happening so you can choose a different location or better protect your belongings. Call SFPD to understand how severe the problem is before putting any of your belongings here. If you try to contact corporate, the only path leads to District Manager Curtis M., who will not call you back, despite countless promises from the company that he will do it within 24-48 hours. Customer service will hang up on you when you call to find out what is happening and why Curtis won't return calls. It is a constant cycle of inaction with this company that makes the robbery experience 100x worse. If you have belongings here, check if they are still in your unit and add a secondary insurance policy to protect yourself if you can afford it. This company will do nothing to inform you what is happening, improve security of your belongings, or take any accountability at all. If you are thinking about moving into this location, strongly reconsider. This company deserves negative stars and should not be allowed to do business in San Francisco. We pay $512.00 a month and every time we go there's no flat beds available for us to carry in or out stuff. Also two of their garage doors are broken so only two doors are available. We are definitely not happy at all with this location. read more

Scammy, bait and switch pricing. They increased rent by a full 40%, just 3 month after move in - almost $100 additional over what's on the lease - with no justification. I contacted them - they stuck to the new pricing, blaming "market changes". I rarely bother to write one-star reviews, but this one earned it. read more

Public storage during the 2020 Pandemic is hard to find. Cheap and affordable rates are almost unheard of! In my search for a storage space, I lucked out and had a very positive experience. Cheyenne, the receptionist was professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. We were rushed to get a storage; Cheyenne went out of her way to help us. Public Storage - Office entrance - Self Storage Near Me - San Francisco, California

I moved in recently and was given the access code to my unit at 5:30 PM. I was not told that I wouldn't be able to access the elevator after 6 PM. When I called the customer service line at 6:02 PM to let them know that I needed to lock up my unit, the customer service representative was extremely rude and told me that it was impossible for them to do anything about it and that my stuff would be left unlocked all night. I was told that the only thing I could do would be to arrive at 6 AM and hope that no one got to my unit before me to steal my things. I strongly recommend against renting a storage unit from these folks, they do not care about the security of your belongings! read more

Do not fill up propane tanks, here unless you have all day to wait , I'll I had to leave after 35 minutes of sitting here my company sent me down here to fill up 20 propane tanks. I had to leave and not wait no longer for assistance. I'd recommend going somewhere else if you're in a hurry or have a lot to fill up for big jobs here in the bay area. read more

I rented a parking space and was having an issue with the individual who parked next to me who was taking up more than their space. So this is an update to my orginal 5 star rating. I would like to start off by saying this is the most unethical and money hungry corporation that I have ever know. Firstly, they use tactics such as charging $20 fees for making over the phone payments, If you're on auto pay, they will charge you even after you have moved, $25 late fees for 1 day late with no warning of any missed payment, ect. And to add insult to injury there is no way to reach corporate. You will have to speak with the property manager of your location alone. Even if they're not in the office. Secondly, this location closes at 6pm so its important for people to know this, not really a complaint but again important to note! Also important to note is they keep all stairwells locked not a bad thing but kind of important considering how the 1 elevator they have keeps on breaking! Imagine picking up a Uhaul truck full of stuff, you've planned all week and the one friend that came through only to find the elevator is broken and you need to keep that uhaul for a few more days till that elevator is fixed, oh and the stairwell is locked so no moving stuff for you! Finally, all the employees here are condescending and just lazy good for nothing bums, with the exception of Anna. Anna is sweet and that is why I gave 1 extra star than this place deserves. Give respect, get respect. Its not hard. I have worked customer service all my life and I still do, occasionally you'll have to get off your high horse and not be so rude to customers. I.e its the 2 guys that work here. I won't be coming to this location again for storage but most importantly I won't be coming back to public storage nor would I recommend it. I advise anyone needing a storage unit to rent...elsewhere. They told me I didn't need to sign a contract before I arrived with my things, then gave me the old bait-and-switch on a unit once I arrived (with movers) with my stuff. With movers on the clock, that basically left me no real option other than to rent a higher priced unit than I had been promised. Additionally, they will jack the rent up on you more than once a year; in less than a year and a half after moving things in my rent had more than doubled. Not to mention, they require that you buy absolutely worthless insurance, and then don't pay out when a loss is incurred except under limited circumstances. If you happen to use the lock they provide (DO NOT USE THEIR LOCK!!!) you just might find that your unit has been burglarized, very possibly by whomever has the master key copies, and then you will find that the insurance they forced you to buy is worthless since it only covers burglaries by "brawn," not "brains." And what might you expect when a loss is incurred? Well, don't expect them to review the security tape they supposedly have. They actually said, "We don't have time to do that." This of course, was after I watched the front desk person texting ad nauseous on her phone. And, SFPD sure isn't going to review the tape, either, so when you store things here you might as well just chalk it up as a loss. I can not envision a circumstance where I will ever, ever, use Public Storage again, let alone this particular location. On the positive side, at least the marketing gurus at Public Storage provided me a helpful link to share my feelings about their "service." read more

Outstanding service at Public Storage! The folks at the front desk are very responsive, polite and transparent. I have been very happy with Public Storage in general. Another location called ahead of time to make sure I understood where my car would be parked and the risks (i.e., not having any security in the Covid-19 environment). Then, I checked the space, decided to pass and that location sent my reservation to this location. I am grateful and would recommend Public Storage from now on. They exceeded my expectations and the rental price is reasonable. read more

I highly recommend this Public Storage location due to Esther in the front office. She went out of her way to make sure I didn't get charged for a whole extra month when my car wouldn't start on my move-out date and required a tow the next day. Esther was knowledgable about the exception process and funneled it through the company to get all of the approvals. She was also a lifesaver during the check-in process by coordinating with me overseas to ensure my friend could move the car into the unit. Reposting this to warn everyone. We lost over $50,000 worth of clothes, furniture, mementos,etc. Turns out over 30 units were broken into in the space of three weeks. Crooks rented a unit in to have access. Over three week period the same people moved out 30 times more than any unit could hold--right past the front desk. read more

You are taking a really big risk if you rent storage units from here. Our storage unit got broken into and the manager and employees never helped us try to catch the perpetrators. Although they tout they have a camera on the ground floor monitoring anyone entering/exiting the only elevator, they never released the videos to us or the police. Or maybe the video camera is just a dummy camera and isn't recording anything. I have to say that the employees are friendly and the rates were reasonable, but just know they will NOT help you if your storage unit is broken into, which as you can see by the past reviews, happens rather frequently. read more

Like Rachel I remember thinking Bob Regula, the owner and manager of this place, was a cool old dude! Now, not so much! I received a call that the lock on my storage unit had been "tampered with". I raced over hoping nothing had been stolen, unfortunately, my unit was broken into, all my stuff was sifted through and pretty much anything of value had been removed. Someone walked away with over TEN BOXES of my stuff in the middle of the day and no one noticed!? But what was even more maddening was the fact that the guy on duty could not care less. "This happens every month," He shrugged. Bob -- who's been there every time I've gone -- was on Vacation and this guy was up from one of the Daly City locations. He told me that this place gets broken into more than any other Public Storage place in the Bay Area. Three other units has been robbed the day before and they hadn't called the cops! I had to call the cops myself and fill out my own police report. Apparently this is their "official policy". Bob's claim about 4 break-ins in 22 years? I'm sure police records could easily prove this to be a blatant lie. As for "Top Notch" Security? There are NO SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS within the building. While I waited for the police to arrive, I looked up this place on Yelp and saw that Matt G and Pat G have pretty much been through what I'd been through. When the cops arrived, suddenly BOB REGULA appeared. I asked him what was up, or if he knew what was going on, he looked me in the eye and IGNORED ME! I guess for him, being on "Vacation" means being on vacation from caring about your customers? I realize there's a very small chance that anyone who's looking for a storage unit is going be checking on Yelp beforehand, but if you are even considering renting a storage locker from here DO NOT! YOUR STUFF WILL GET STOLEN AND NO ONE WHO WORKS THERE WILL CARE. I have a new favorite person in San Francisco. Here's the backstory: I'm moving out of my ridiculously expensive garage I haven't stored anything but a few rubbermaid containers and luggage in for 3 years. So I checked the neighborhood for some local self-storage situations. And I found this place. I checked their website for availability, and it seemed rampant, so I drove on by to take a look. And then I met Robert. I wish he were my grandpa. He's cool, he's funny, and when I walk in to borrow a cart he greets me with "What's up, Doc?" He's a happy old guy who seems to really like his job. He took me for a wander to show me the space, and cracked me up the whole time. And I got the first month's rent for just $1. And he told me that they have only had 4 break-ins in 22 years, which is something for this neighborhood. But the security seems top-notch. I finished moving my stuff in to the space and hung out for awhile to shoot the breeze with Robert. Man, that guy's really cool. read more

UGHHH I cannot express my frustrations with this place. ZERO STARS!! Here's the highlights and the details are below: 1. Ridiculous unauthorized charge on my debit card 2. Terrible customer service/police investigating while I was there 3. Unkempt facilty 1. I got there and the lady asked if I brought my own lock. I didn't. So she grabbed locks and took me to go see my unit and then put the lock on there, handed me two sets of keys and said, "okay I give you lock- $17.99" ...um ok? Guess I'm committed to buying the lock. Then when I asked if I could just bring my own lock, she said no. We got back downstairs, I signed papers and paid a mandatory insurance fee, administrative fees, $45/month for my unit, and for the lock which totaled $107.00 I didn't realize then that the two sets of keys were for TWO DIFFERENT locks! She put two locks on my unit, charged me $17.99 for both and figured I wouldn't notice! As if that wasn't annoying enough, I had to sign a "Return Claim Form" to get my refund for the extra lock. ..and it gets worse: I checked my bank account and they actually charged me $119 instead of the claimed $107. AND on top of that unauthorized charge, the refund for the other lock still hasn't credited back into my account. 2.) Oh and if being on the phone with my bank for the past hour to fix this wasn't ANNOYING enough, the service and facility were awful! While I was filling out the stupid paperwork, a few police officers walked in to investigate the numerous amounts of storage units that were broken into. From what I overheard, apparently a lot of locks were cut and people's units got robbed. The company doesn't seem to be taking liability. While the officers were there, the employee was trying to distract me by trying to convince me to buy over priced mattress covers... ummm no thanks!! They'll probably get stolen anyway. Unfortunately, I had already signed my lease and paid by then so it was too late to back out. :/ The have several cameras and "security" around the place but apparently they can't do anything about the break ins? 3.) The carts are only available during office hours and you have to give your ID/phone for collateral... because everyone wants to steal a dingy cart! NOT. Everyone is given a 7 digit access to enter through the gates and then you have to re-enter it just to get up the elevator...And the stupid elevator makes you put in your 7 digit access code like a bajillion times before you can actually use it which is super inconvenient when your arms are full and you're carrying heavy furniture. And it's even better after office hours when you don't have access to carts and have to manually carry all your heavy stuff up the elevator making several trips. UGH I'm getting pissed just writing this review. Overall, I really regret renting a space here. I signed a lease online before I had the chance to check this place out. Don't make the same mistake. I would've much rather paid a lot more for better service and less hassle. Now I'm stuck because of the lease. BOO. read more

So far the only thing I have against the place is the unit. It is sold as a 5x5. If you go into it there is a section about 3.5x5 and a small section about 1.5x2. a large piece of drywall had been errected in the unit for some reason. The staff though I had no issues with Johnny. Paperwork was fast and painless with the express check-in. The walk through was seemless and quick as well. We will see how things turn out in the coming weeks. read more

Absolutely worst experience I have ever had renting a storage unit. Arrived last week to retrieve items for a photo shoot...half of the contents of my unit had been stolen. Absolutely no recourse has been taken by the employee's and I've now had to involve the police. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS BUSINESS. ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS Also, rent is due on the 1st of every month. I was three days late and $268 lien was placed on my unit...by mail. No ability to view or pay the lien online, the method I use to pay rent. All around confusing and malicious. This place sucks! Bob, the manager, is a real A-Hole. He may remind Rachel of the grandfather she's always envisioned but to me he was like an alcoholic, senile old guy with the communication skills of a piece of granite. He could use a refresher course in customer service. I had a vendor who was making a delivery to my storage call him for directions and he went off like a lunatic, ranting and raving about how they won't receive shipments for anyone (which was not the plan anyway). 2 days after renting my storage, I went in and he told me 7 units had been broken into the night before. It's not surprising as I had a couple of different unsavory characters hit me up for money within the "security gate" and turned a corner to find another guy urinating in the corner in broad daylight. If you like being treated with disrespect, smelling fresh urine and having to replace the contents of your storage, this is the place for you. Ask Bob for the 5-finger discount. read more

THE ROOF LEAKS! DO NOT RENT SPACE 1225 FROM THIS COMPANY. Make sure you know your renters insurance and yes, all the other yelpers are right, the people that work there, except for the smaller black woman, don't give a rats *** about you or your stuff. Clearly they get the verbal abuse while the district manager CHRIS KILCOURSE, doesn't return calls or will even speak to the employees about customer service. When they told me they would give me a new space there was no discount offered or any kind of customer service, they wouldn't even let me borrow a lock. The worst part is that there was a leak before in 1225 and they NEGLECTED to investiage this or try to fix the problem. I am sure I am not the first person this has happened to. We should all start reporting the better businees bureau so this corrupt storage company loses their license for operation. Chris finally called me after 3 messages and was very courteous and helped me out but the damage was done and now I am off to another storage facility which I am very happy with. CBS has been running a big story about their insurance and how it's a circular racket between Public Storage and Willis Ins., which PS actually owns. You do need insurance, you want insurance, but you can use your own insurance to cover your things. However, there is a clause in the contract that states the value of your space should not exceed $2,000.00 in value. Read the fine print and don't rent a space from this company. read more

Bait and Switch We diligently sought out rental facilities over the couple of months before we moved. The Public Storage appeared to be the best option from a cost perspective. We were wrong. Within three months after we had moved into the storage space, Public Storage increased monthly rents by almost 15%. We were stuck and they took advantage of us. Do not trust Public Storage.
