He walked us through the process of starting online to save us money, which we appreciated! It was super easy to rent a unit . I did it all online & without having to talk to anyone . It was quick & easy . Within 10 minutes I had access to my unit . Best part of all is you can upgrade to 24/7 access for only $20 extra . I'm a night owl so that is perfect for me . This is the and only storage facility that offers 24/7 access in Tacoma . Not to mention they have great deals , even better if you book online . I've been here for a few months now and I've never had any issues . This location is fine, secure, clean, close to my home. What is BS, raising the rent every 6 months. I complained and got it deferred for 3 months. Started at a great price of $94. Then $130. A 34% increase! I just receive a notification the rent increases to $161 the beginning of March. The vacancy rate is low so they seem to not have trouble renting units. There is no way Public Storage cost of doing business increased 60% in a year. read more

RATS - We have complained about rodent infestation for over a year now, expecting them to take action and contain the situation. Alas, they have done nothing. Was I stupid to think they cared? The situation has gotten so much worse..... rat pee and poop everywhere :-( . We havent assessed the damage to our things yet. I am dreading going through it. But it will get done! Management has done nothing to help us clean it up or move out and lackadaisically told us to file an insurance claim. How about you guys take care of your own facility?!?! They know about the problem, but they don't seem concerned about it. Its an overpriced and filthy location. Do not put your precious things here. We will be moving as soon as we can. read more

After my first frustrating experience with public storage, I was hoping it would get better... however all I can update is that an email was supposed to come to me hours ago with the code and specific location of my storage unit. Still haven't received it, though an employee was kind enough to yell it out to me as I was on my way out the door..... it would have been nice if I could have at least had a written copy of it, since I was carrying nothing in the way of pen and paper. However the next batch of trouble started when the employee told me I should use their app to scan my way into the storage area.... At which point it deactivated my access code and told me to contact an employee. Trying to save myself another trip to their office, I call and..... they're not picking up the phone. Trekking back to the office again, they seem to have a new computer system and nobody really explained why it locked out my access. However I was again encouraged to use the app to scan my way in and out. Hahaha! This is the 2nd time now the app scanner has locked me out of the system. Since they don't pick up their phones or seem to staff their office, that would be an interesting way to get myself locked in their storage facility with no way out!! This place is just a mess. read more

I'm completely upset about the lack of help or information the staff wasn't helpful at all. I call and talked to one of the staff members to tell them that when I came in on 7/23 I noticed that my unit was infested with rodents and my belongings were contaminated. I was told that D would be calling me the next day to talk more about the issue and no call. I called the following day and reached a staff member that told me I declined the rental insurance?? I was never offered it so I'm not sure how I denied it. Long story short I took what wasn't contaminated with rat poop and pee and had to leave things behind because it was too contaminated. I hated having to leave my stuff behind but they give me no other option at that point with how unhelpful the staff was. I recommend storing your stuff in a indoor storage unit where it will be safer from rats. This place is crawling with them and they told me that they don't understand because they have rat traps... save yourself the headache and go anywhere but here. read more

Any place that charges loyal customers more money as the relationship grows doesn't deserve my money. Rent increases every 6 months. The clerk was full of contempt and rehearsed babble when I tried to ask about the rates. Kept shuffling papers and it was apparent that I wasn't important. The rates at this location are VERY HIGH and they will go UP! read more

This place is dumpy and not climate controlled and way overpriced. And worst of all? It's rat infested- which not only is disgusting and preventable, but rats can and will seriously destroy personal property! Units have open ceilings to rafters with easy access for Vermin. They get musty because of the poor old construction and lack of climate control. On top of it it's sooo overpriced, especially for what it is! On an upside the employees are nice and helpful a d doing the best they can with what they are working with. But rats in our unit is simply a deal breaker. read more

Nice clean facility. However, they can raise your rates anytime they want and take the opportunity to do so especially after you think you have a reasonable price for the storage unit provided. I wasn't there more than a few months before they raised my rate substantially. I find this practice to be unethical and I will move as soon as I can. read more

I am deleting my extended review of Public Storage, as they have contacted my daughter (also on the rental agreement) several times, wishing her to come in a discuss what happened and to ask why we put up a review.. This has made both of us very uncomfortable. Bare facts: If you lose your key, you are not allowed to cut YOUR lock off your unit. We were told it was a liability issue. Only the District Manager can allow you to cut your lock. The District Manager was not available in a reasonable time frame (days, not hours.) The locksmith they suggested cost us $45 and simply came and cut the lock off. We have moved out and will not rent from them again. read more

The facility is fine, clean, good location etc. My issue is with the deceptive pricing tactics. They advertise online (right now tonight $88 online special) for say a 5x10. Yet I paid $111 back in 2014. Then for no reason and with no notice they increase the rate each year. It makes no sense that I pay more for my 5x10 unit vs. someone new paying $148 for a 10x10. My family and I rented a unit from Public Storage on Mildred street while we were in the middle of a move. After having our belongings in the unit for 4 months we realized that rats had entered the unit and damaged over $1,000 worth of our belongings. We immediately notified the staff and they said they are well aware of the rodent issue and would do nothing further to attend to the problem. They provided ZERO help in cleaning up the rat damage/ poop and refused our claim we made via Customer Care. It was a HUGE hassle to move all our stuff out of the unit a month before our new home was ready and find another unit. We ended up having to throw away a lot of our stuff because of damage from the rats (poop, urine, chewing). We insured the unit through our home owners insurance, which ended up not covering any damage from rodents. But even if you use Public Storage Orange Door coverage, they only cover about $200 worth of rodent damage. If you are on the hunt for a place to put your belongings.... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Keep looking and make sure to ask how they handle rodent issues. read more

The facility is fine, and has worked fine for our business use. We started a contract on a year end special and were told that the price would be locked in as long as we kept the unit. 6 months in, we got a price increase of over 30%. 17 months after starting we are almost double the original rate. We will be leaving shortly. Now it's cheaper for us to buy new equipment when we need it than to store our own stuff. read more

As is expected for a storage facility. Price is up there, but was the only available unit in the size I needed. I was surprised at the willingness of the staff member I worked with was to assist me. She stayed through her scheduled lunch break to get me setup and ready to begin unloading my 26' truck. Which was not difficult to navigate through the facility as someone who has experience driving larger vehicles of that sort. I recommend moisture protection as they are outside units. All in all, I am pleased with what I have. read more

Dee's been a great deal of help in getting things transferred into my name after my mom passed away; she's also helped me with the logistics of moving out of this facility and getting a smaller unit at a PS closer to my home now that I've downsized many of my mom's "treasures." The facility is kept clean, and all the security measures seem well-maintained. read more

TLDR; the checkout process of public storage seemed like it was a process to nickel and dime you. In addition to that, I was treated like I was trying to cheat them out of something. Know the process before doing anything. The checkin process was easy. I enjoyed interacting with the people. They gave me a review of what I needed do and also directed me towards a few items to buy (a lock and plastic bags for mattresses, which I later learned that I could of bought for a cheaper price from the uhaul offices). I paid for the entire month. I only needed to store items there less than a week. I moved out a week later and forgot to inform the front office. The storage unit was fully vacated and the lock taken off. Later on in the day, I received a call from the front office stating that since I didn't inform them of the move out, I would be charged a $25 late fee and this fee will be a reoccurring fee every 2 days until I closed out my account. I was given a number to call to the main offices to pay off the fee and was told that I could close off my account by calling that number. I asked for clarification on why there was a late fee and why it would be reoccurring but the customer representative representative (CSR) couldn't adequately explain why. I explained that I had paid the entire month already and asked again why the late fee was charged since technically I wasn't late on anything. The CSR just reiterated that a $25 late fee would be charged. At this point, I just wanted to close out the account and be done with everything. I called the number and it was to some IT help desk for public storage. This was wrong information. I logged onto my account online. Found out that I could pay it there and I did. I called back to the front office and asked the CSR if they could close out the account since the number they had given didn't lead anywhere. They said that I could and they would start the process and I should receive an email when she was done. We said goodbye over the phone. 15-20 minutes later, I got a call from the same CSR and she said she did some snooping and confirmed that I paid off my $25 dollar late fee and would begin the process of closing out the account. In summary, the checkin process was easy. Follow the rules on the checkout process otherwise you will be charged fees. If you're renting a UHAUL truck, you can get most of the materials (lock, mattress covers etc.) for much cheaper than a Public Storage site. The checkout process of public storage seemed like it was a process to nickel and dime you. In addition to that, I was treated like I was trying to cheat them out of something. I would rate this place at zero stars if I could. All my stuff got chewed up, pissed on, and crapped on by rats for $250/mo. When I got tired of paying for my stuff to get ruined, I asked them what I needed to do to end my contract before the next billing cycle. It took some scrambling but I got everything out and gave them the notification they requested within the timeframe they gave me. I got a notice from them that they charged me by mistake before it even posted to my account and that a refund would be issued. OK, fair enough. Except, even though they could take it out of my account electronically, they said they had to mail me a check. No way around it. OK, that's annoying but whatever. So after weeks of not having my money, I finally called them. Turns out they mailed it to my old address. So I asked them to cancel it and mail one to the correct address. They said they would. lather, rinse repeat. I closed the account in March. It's now December. I've had that exact conversation with them at least five times. They've obviously just decided to commit to stealing my money. They deserve to go out of business. Save yourself some money and just keep your things in a shopping cart under a blanket. read more

Liz is the best!!!!! Friendly, fast and efficient I gladly store my stuff here. Despite the fact that it's not cheap ($184 a month for a 10×15, includes the latest $25 increase) I'm totally okay storing this stuff until I figure out a solid game plan... and hey, at least the prices keep the riff raff away! read more

Dee was very prompt with my inquiry about renting a unit on short notice. The website says it requires 14 days, but I only gave her 2 days - and that was not a problem. Never even brought up the time frame. The property is very neat, clean and appeared very secure. The unit fit my needs and we had a great conversation the whole time we were getting the paperwork in order. Dee gave me the impression that she is a seasoned professional at the business and understood some of my needs, moving my 92 year old dad from a house into an apartment.
