Made offload (working alone) much more difficult than a level unit (like avail on other rows). Major hassle trying to brace dolley with lifting heavy stuff down to it. Then bending down to lift dolley over 2" high lip at entrance of unit. NOT DISCLOSED. 3. You could offer discounts on that row and plenty people will go for it. I would not as I'm working alone. 4. Their were avail units on level ground. Instead of renting them first then the units with a hill (and floodwater) the mgr told me the automated system picks the units to be rented. 5. After doing their survey they had mgr contact me and offer to ket me move. HOW DOES GOING THRU THE HASSLE OF OFFLOADING ON A HILL NOW INSTEAD OF WHEN I MOVE OUT HELP? I recently had an unpleasant experience with the on-site property manager, Michael. He accused me of sleeping in my unit and informed me that my rental agreement would be terminated. Michael then called the authorities, claiming I was being disruptive. He placed a lock on my unit near the end of the month, which prevented me from accessing my belongings and caused me to be billed for the following month. When I attempted to resolve the issue, I was told the corporate manager would be the last person I could speak with, leaving me with no further way to escalate the matter. If you attempt to contact corporate or any other entity of public storages, you will be cycled into the normal phone assistance line. As a result of this situation, I have been informed that I am no longer allowed to rent from any Public Storage locations. Prior to this experience, I was a member at Public Storage for two years Also to mention when it rains heavily, the entire lot is flooded any remains flooded until it dries up which takes around 72 hours. read more

My wife and I rented a 10x10 unit here for 2 months, and it was a HUGE MISTAKE! 1st the manager who lives there on site his name is Matt, and he was extremely rude to my wife after she waited for him to open the office 20 minutes past 9am, second he smelled strongly of marijuana which is very unprofessional, third he would not honor the on line discount voucher we presented to him resulting in us having to pay a much higher rate than expected, but since we just moved here to tempe and we facing a deadline, we had to unfortunately just pay it. additionally the unit we rented was dirty and had several dead cockroaches inside the unit, and when we told the manager Matt, his response was "not my problem." Made reservation to rent a unit for next day but told I couldn't get in at 9:30am when they open as they were having employee meeting??? Come at 12 noon. She Showed me 5x10 for $63 plus 1 month for a $1 + $25 one time fee...unit dark and stained. A few doors down she had another 5x10...the hall light illuminated it better. But that one was $79. She fiddled around on computer for 15 minutes but price stood. Then said I was required to purchase $15 insurance policy! Pushed too far so I walked. They were working on 4 stars (-1 for not opening on time) until they price gauged me, twice. Found another 5x10, air cooled down the road for $57, first two months half off. The customer service yes, elite. Everyone is so kind and helpful and willing. The spaces are affordable, and they always have deaL's. The only reason why I gave it a four out of five instead of a five out of five is because I do not like the fact that my unit has wood floors because there is Sam's probably from water damage. Horrible customer service! Only had my stuff there for one month. Elevator broke leaving me to take my things up and down stairs with no ability to use a cart. Moved everything out of my unit before the 1st of the month but was still charged for the next FULL month (and they don't pro-rate even if you move out one day into the next month!) Multiple calls into both this location and corporate resulted in nothing. No calls back after multiple voicemails and my calls were never answered except by staff that couldn't do anything. read more

This place not only jacked up rates significantly out of nowhere, but they in essence stole my money by not telling me public storage does not pro-rate you back for unused days. I was billed $175 on the 2nd, and moved out on the 4th of this month to try and save some $. When not seeing a credit (that I've got from every other storage place I've used) after a while, I called and asked about it. I was told their policy is that they don't credit back or pro-rate. Why is it that tenant laws in AZ don't apply to these storage places? This is theft! Someone else is probably moved in and paying them already yet they took me for the whole month. Alright, so first you're going to want to deal with Bill when you're getting setup. He's the man. He's high energy (in a good way and not the "Please leave me alone" way) and happy to help. He covered everything I needed to know and was trustworthy. I'll be honest, since it was my first time using a storage unit, I definitely went in with my defenses up and was super careful to make sure I wasn't getting scammed. But trust me, put those shields down. Bill's there to help and not to just make a quick sale and then get rid of you to move onto the next customer. If you like chatting it up while getting everything in order, he's good for that and I certainly enjoyed our conversations. With that said, I can also tell that if you'd rather just get business done and keep to yourself, he'd be able to figure it out and just get cracking. You can't lose! read more

I been at public storage 1737 E. Mckellips Rd Tempe, AZ 85281 since the end of November beginning of December the last few months Karen has done a Great Job! She always makes herself available even when she is busy with other customers or occupants. I go to my storage at least 3 - 4 time a week at least.. 2 of those 4 times she is there to open the gate for me or greet me, or open the gate as I exit.. It is impossible to please everyone but she sure tries.. And I must say she is no push over either stand her ground when it comes to protecting the integrity of the business. I would give Karen a 4.5 star rating but there is no half. She didn't get a 5 star because of the drain hill but that not her fault.. But overview I am pleased with my unit.. read more

Sometimes, when you move from a big space to smaller space, you can have space problems...no, not "Houston, we have a problem" space problems, but "where are we going to put the other sectional and all the extra deck lounges and the beds for the 4th and 5th bedroom" space problems. You can only sell so much of your crap on Craigslist before you start to think "you know, we might want that painting/lamp/ottoman/bar stool set/club chair"..."maybe we should hang on to some of this stuff rather than buying everything again if we decide that smaller isn't necessarily better":) You know... the "we might be better off to spend $75 a month forever, rather than sell a $6,000 sectional for $200 and then buy the same thing again 2 years from now" conversation:) Public Storage is the answer to the space crunch (or at least an answer:). They are a reasonably priced option for the room you need:) You can get at your stuff pretty much any time of the day or night:) Public Storage is pretty secure (camera's, automated gate, double locks on the doors, etc.:) I have never smelled a meth lab cooking at Public Storage:) We have never found a body on the premises:) It doesn't look like anybody really lives in a storage unit:) No mice droppings or other evidence of animals, bugs or reptiles making a home in our possessions:) So, they have that going for them! Aren't we glad we got the 10x15- you don't realize how much stuff you have until you try to cram it all in there! Do NOT rent a climate control unit at this property. Higher rent and NO climate control exists. Company is fully aware that the air conditioner is broke and did not notify the customers or make any rent adjustments due to lack of services being paid for. In fact the rent was raised a few months ago. From what I am being told by other customers the air conditioner hasn't worked this year, which wasn't a huge problem until the weather got dangerously hot the past couple weeks. While being told it was being repaired, I grew concerned and went to check yesterday (6/22/17) and found the building, halls, and unit smoldering as no fans were blowing and no cool air. I also found the grounds unkept and the front plate glass door broken at the entrance to the climate control units. This is a huge problem not only for what is in my unit that can be damaged by the heat (hence reserving/paying for a climate control unit since October '17) but feel further raped by the fact that my rent was raised a few months ago. I was given the District Manager's name Nathan White and number (480-777-8032). I did call Mr. White and left a detailed message. I was also given the AZ East District help desk (844-447-7236 but you end up going through the never ending phone prompts until THEY finally hang up on you. Next move??? TV reporter for 3 on your side. AGAIN: Nathan White - District Manager 480-777-8032 should probably hear our concerns, even if by voice message. read more

Bill was extremely knowledgeable about all assets of the storage unit. We took a quick tour of the grounds which are very clean and well kept. After showing the unit Bill recommended a different size to more comfortably store my furniture and prized possessions. PS advertised a reasonable rate for a large unit 10x10. I thought ok. I need to get my stuff somewhere.... To get started it was a 6 page FINE PRINT contract, they had 100% markup on their lock - only 1 model available. They insisted I have it that day. Then they charged for insurance that I already had once I was able to check on it through my homeowners insurance. There wasn't even anything in the unit. They wouldn't refund the insurance or the lock. Said it couldn't be done. Big rip off. Then after 3 months - after all my stuff was moved in, they raised the rate nearly $20 month. Claiming it is the new "market" rate. When I tried to call management to discuss - a pretty big jump after only a few months, it was impossible to get through to speak to a live person. You must go down in person to the office to call the headquarters, or use a different phone that the one you gave them, or they send you straight and only to the "make a payment" option on the phone menu. Even more frustrating than talking to a blender at the dry cleaners looks! At least with that you don't have any expectation of help. Clearly when I started using the storage, the rate they gave me was the "market" rate otherwise they wouldn't have gotten it rented. When I FINALLY got through to a person, they said they never lower the rate for the units. Then it is not really market driven. June thru Mar, the need for storage is pretty low until students leaving college or snowbirds leaving for the summer need it. When you move your stuff into a larger unit, usually it is for longer term - which I specifically asked when I signed up. I was told yes, that is the rate you will pay each month. The entire building is ancient, yet they put the entire onus of damage on the tenant- hence your cost of insurance. The moving dollies they claim are there for you to use are nearly always gone (missing/stolen) or locked up so you can't use unless someone is in the office - definitely not after the office is closed. BE WARE. They change the rate frequently - and not a little. I wrote the better business bureau and Public Storage took 2 months to not respond. I moved my stuff out. Then they responded - it is a month to month rate, we can raise it at any time we like. READ the fine print and don't use these huge corporations that can afford to pay their CEO"S millions by lying to the little guys! Find a local owner who cares about their reputation and will honor their word when you move in! read more

What a scam! I'm only putting one star out of the necessity to post this review. (0 stars) They wait for you to move in your stuff knowing that it is a pain to move again and then they dramatically increase your monthly bill a few months later. Mind you, I have never even been late on a payment. The property manager can't help you, so you are referred to costumer service, which by the way is very difficult to reach through the automated phone service. Once you actually reach a person, they tell you that you are on a month to month basis so they can increase the price at any time. I chose them because of both the price and because I thought it was a reputable company. Obviously my mistake. It looks like I'm moving again this weekend, probably to their competitors next door. Bill, one of the employees at this site, was waiting to help us the minute we got there for our appointment to get the storage unit that we had reserved online. He helped us to make sure that the size we got was appropriate for our needs. He was cheerful and friendly and made us feel comfortable with our purchasing decisions. He showed us a couple options of units as well just to make sure we saw what we were getting before signing the paperwork. The process went very smoothly and we were happy with the security measures taken at this site to make us feel comfortable locking up our belongings there. Public Storage does a great job of making several close locations available as there were about eight locations within 15 minutes of our home. I selected the location on McKellips Rd as it was very close. Originally I was thinking of the Mesa location, however, when I learned of the McKellips location I prefered it. The Mesa manager had called me based on my internet submission and when I told her I wanted to go to McKellips she didn't get upset, she happily transfered my call and put me in touch with Marie at McKellips. Marie was terrific, she had my paperwork ready once I showed up which was only five minutes after I spoke with her. She then did a great job of showing me the available locations and letting me choose which unit would work best for me. Marie was extremely pleasant and helpful. Once I decided on the location, she wrapped up the check-in in no time. The location is extremely safe, very clean, air conditioned, multiple security features and had a good elevator. The unit, a 5 x 5, was clean, well-lit and more importantly did hold all of the items we needed to put into storage with room to spare. I was pleasantly surprised. Based on the pricing and location, I feel I have received great value. Public Storage is easy to do business with and I highly recommend them. read more
