Used this place for years in between travel. Never took accountability for theft--EVER! They took me through the wringer and no regard at all for thousands of missing property. I was told that bc the door didn't appear to be damaged there could be no claim. Hilariously enough same happened doors down with another tenant more than a few times--that door was never replaced. The claim was never taken seriously even with a report. Even had the nerve to try and charge after a move out even with so much missing. And had the nerve to be rude abt it!!! They changed management so many times it would make your head spin. Let's speak to door though-- inside of the unit never had a working light (they blamed this on me). And the inside had been boarded higher than when I moved in--these people have watched and they know who frequents and doesn't . It's used to advantage ! It is super easy to access the units, but I find that there is quite often gate issues. I'm probably just frustrated that they don't email customers so we can plan when they need to adjust hours. You find out when you arrive. It is Christmas Eve and I want their team to enjoy the holiday but changing hours affects others. Not life and death, but adds a layer of scrambling not planned for. They get four stars because it is convenient and does the job it is designed for. I stay because it is open until 9 and opens early. read more

Gave the office a key to my lock when I moved in as requested. Paid insurance for years and was told the complex was being renovated and had to move. Upon coming back my unit 2 months after my last visit it had been picked thru and a lot of heirlooms and collectibles stolen. All the boxes were opened and strewn about but they had a key so no forced entry and this insurance won't cover it. Working on deleting this company altogether after reducing the need for the new unit at a different location. read more

This is by far the WORST company ever. Not to mention that most of their reviews are swindled by the manger girl the first day you move in. Wait a little bit to see what this place is about then review them. I had a unit for over a year- and due their direct incompetence and updating of their website we faced issues with the billing and their staff. After waiting three weeks for a manger to call us back, we decided to abruptly move out of our unit. This company doesn't not take responsibility for their actions. And barely takes the time to call people back!! Do not use public storage. There is many other viable storage options. Not to mention there is people using drugs on the facility regularly and multiple people living out of their units literally washing themselves and changing clothes in the fronts of their units. Just moved to LA and back in with the parents so all of my own furniture had to be put away here. Thankfully their units are spacious enough for fit all my stuff from a very large one bedroom apt into just one unit so I'm saving more than I thought. I've been back there several times since May to grab something or make a payment and Juliana and Porscha have always helped me out, answered my questions and treated me extremely well. They are knowledgeable, trustworthy and professional and their service is real, they don't answer everything with memorized lines. Thank you girls!! read more

I had a unit at this location since August 2019 at this location. Even through the pandemic, I still managed to pay for my unit and in March 2022 they doubled the rent. Unable to keep up with my payments, I got a notice of late payment on 7/13 and on 7/14 they auctioned my things. I was two months behind so I understand the urgency to collect but 24 hours does not seem like a reasonable amount of time to give someone. Material things can be replaced but my kids pics and memories cannot be. Ugh!!! read more

Not only will I never rent another unit here, but I will never rent from this company again. I was charged a full extra month because I was unable to walk through my unit with someone because I was out of town on business. (The unit was cleaned out 2 days ahead of scheduled past office hours). I was also charged a $50 disposal fee for having a pallet in the unit. Finally I was charged for a damaged unit because when I moved into the unit and the sales rep said that the damage that was in the unit was recorded already and we didn't have to take note of it. I chose to take her word. After public storage got me for over $300 in extra fees, in which they auto-billed to my account (never authorized by me) I tried contacting the district manager of the facility. I spoke to the district manager and he basically told me that he wasn't going to do anything about the fees and that unless I could prove the unit was damaged before I moved in there they were gonna charge me. I was so agitated from this lack of customer service, not to mention there are no customer service representatives that work for this company. You are at the demise of the district manager. I hope this property catches on fire and burns to the ground and the district manager has to file bankruptcy. There are plenty of other companies that I have used for storage in the past, and they are nearby. I recommend anything BUT public storage! read more

The worst storage experience I've had in my life. They give you the runaround and make it so difficult to cancel just to rack up extra charges. The manager asked me to call to cancel and they just keep giving me the runaround. Missed it by one day and was charged a extra months for $200. Now they need me to go back and talk to the manager again to confirm it's empty. Stay away from the storage unit by all means unless you wanna have an extremely difficult time to cancel and get charged extra months. They are refusing to cancel it on the phone even though it empty! read more

Liz is great. Jocelyn is great. The reason that I did not give 5 Stars is because I caution you about the PS office up the street closer to Home Depot. The WORST. Don't ask, cuz I don't have the time or energy to share the gory details....bt do yourself a favor and just DON'T lease from this particular location....let me think....what's her name....RUBIA. That's the one. The "salesman" false front that reels you in, and yet shows her insincerity at the first and smallest objective without thought or hesitation. She made me feel like P.S. is a complete bate and switch. It's not, based upon the "save" by the gals listed above. Whew!! What a freaking nightmare. But back to the 7660 Balboa facility....I have had a multitude of big changes within my family during the past 24 months and I am the family coordinator, not by choice. "Moving" is not an never will be fun. The team at this facility were gracious and trusting and well informed. I was in there this morning. The girl working didn't greet me at all. No "Hello", no "Good Morning". It was very rude to a customer for over 3 years. I thinks today is a good day to look into another storage place. With all the access online, why have employees if they can't even greet you respectfully when you encounter them? I moved to this location a couple of years ago because it was closer to home and cheaper than the climate-controlled unit I had at another storage company. The price difference and ease of being able to pull up in front of the unit several times a month was worth having to put up with the inconveniences that come with having a unit with drive-up access. Being able to load up my van on a Thursday or Friday night for a weekend dog show was now a 15 minutes task, so it didn't bother me THAT much having to dust/clean everything before putting in the van. It didn't bother me until they cut their access hours down to 6:00PM! Now, if I have a show I have to set up for on Friday, I have to load my van the weened BEFORE because my husband and I can't get there before 6:00 during the week. Now the dust, dirt, grime, bird nests, and the feathers and crap that go with them are bothering me much more! Yeah, not happy about the change in access hours, considering the fact that being able to access my unit until 9PM was one of the reasons I rented this unit to begin with. read more

This company lies, engages in illegal false advertising and is totally unethical. Strong accusations I know, but please - let me tell you my story: I've been renting a 10' x 20' storage unit from here for a little under 6 months, but when a week ago I got a notice that they were raising the rent on my unit by more than 10% (GASP!!), I decided I needed to downsize. I asked to look at a 10'' x 8.5' unit that they were advertising on their website for $163. Great! Vicky the site manager showed me the unit and it seemed a bit small for a 10' x 8.5' but I figured I'd take her at her word and signed their paperwork. When I started to move in I happened to have a tape measure and found that the unit actually measured 8' x 8.5'. I brought this up with Vicky thinking she'd made a mistake, but she told me that no, this was correct, and that the sizes they quote are "approximate." She showed me two other units that were supposedly 10' x 8.5' that were also actually 8' x 8.5' when I measured them, and said that if I needed the next size up she could move me into their 10' x 10' which I measured and found was actually a 10' x 8.5'. I told her that this was the size I was supposed to be getting with my contract, but she insisted that no, this was the next size up. With a straight face, and my measuring tape right in front of her clearly showing that the space was 10' x 8.5', she insisted that this was actually a 10' x 10'. And again, their measurements are "approximate." Friends, I know we are now in Trump's so-called post-truth era, but does that really make it ok for a company to lie about length and width?? Is it now ok for a company to say that 8' is actually 10' and thereby screw me out of 20% of the space I signed a contract with them to rent?? It's like getting 4/5 of a gallon of gas when you thought you were buying a full gallon and the attendant telling you, "our gallons are approximate." Or like a guy that you hired to paint 4 walls of a room only painting 3 but insisting that he painted approximately 4. Absolutely unbelievable. So I called the corporate number on their website, talked to customer service and they listened to my situation. Good news! They said that they were going to put me in touch with the district manager. Unfortunately it took almost 24 hours to get a call from him (his name was Pedro) and he spouted the same corporate line as Vicky - the unit sizes are "approximate." He even tried to call into question my measuring technique. After he totally exacerbated me by not budging from his corporate newspeak, I hung up on him. Is this company so desperate for profits that instead of making a messed up situation right for a customer it instead has a manager belittle my measuring technique? Hey Pedro, guess what - I know how to measure stuff, and I'm actually really good at it. Does squeaking a little bit more out of a company's bottom line now make it ok to false advertise and lie to their customers? I suppose the horrible customer service I experienced shouldn't surprise me coming from a company that apparently systematically trains it managers to stand behind their lie and say 8 is 10. So dear reader, don't let this happen to you. Realize that when you see a price quoted for a unit here that there's a good chance it's actually a few feet shorter on a side because their sizes are "approximate." Better yet, bring a tape measure and call out the site manager when the dimensions are smaller. Maybe if enough potential customers call this company out on their lies they'll stop making them. Ah but even better still is probably to avoid this place altogether. Who wants to deal with a bunch of liars. Do you?? My story will now move on to me making complaints to LA county's Bureau of Weights and Measures, as well as the Federal Trade Commission. False advertising is, after all still illegal. I've got my fingers crossed that these jokers will get slapped with a nice hefty fine that will help them to see the error of their ways. And hey - if someone from Personal Storage is reading this - I'M STILL WAITING ON A UNIT THAT IS ACTUALLY 8.5' X 10'. Would you please do the right thing and give me what I'm paying for in my contract?? read more

Very bad service, made reservation to get the unit with promotional price 50% off. Right after the reservation representative from the location called me to confirm the reservation. I am currently trapped in this facility. Nobody happened to mention that after 9pm they lock you inside. None of the signage mentions anything about the gates locking at 9pm. The sign simply states "please exit by 9pm". There is no phone number to call, no security guard to assist, not a goddamn shred of information on what to do in case this happens. I will never use this company again and I will further spread the word to everybody I know what a terrible location and company this is. It's 10pm. I've been w moving boxes all day. I'm starving. Thanks to Public Storage I will have to go all night without food or water. This is a abuse. read more
