I cannot say enough good things about the staff at US Storage Centers located at 9818 De Soto Avenue in Chatsworth, CA. Speaking for myself, I have had the best experience from everyone working at the location. The process to sign up was handled by a very respectful and kind young man named David. He patiently answered all of my questions and recommended accordingly on what size unit would be most suitable for my needs. Honestly, moving things is stressful enough, but the stellar customer service coupled with David's genuiness in wanting to best help me relieved my stress and worry, putting me at ease with my choice. Furthermore, whenever I show up, I am warmly greeted by him and other staff with a smile. He is an exceptional employee who works hard and is committed to giving great customer service. He also prides himself on keeping the property clean and it shows as every time I have been there it is tidy and clutter-free. When David has not been available, I have been fortunate enough to have another amazing employee help me named Abel. He has a strong work ethic as well and is very knowledgeable about the facility. Any questions I have had, he has readily answered with sincerity and an earnestness to go above and beyond in his customer service role. Honestly, when my bank account was compromised and I was attempting to pay for my unit, Abel was so very understanding. I kept apologizing as I felt awful, but he just kept telling me not to worry about anything. The intonation in his voice literally put me at ease as I could tell he genuinely felt bad for me, continually assuring me that everything would work out. Honestly, any time that I have called in and I have gotten ahold of Abel or David they make me feel like I matter and am not just a renter. They ask how I'm doing and how my day is going. They are very communicative and knowledgeable, and superb at their job. Their dedication to streamlining the rental process is something I most assuredly appreciate. My grandmother had a unit there for a few years. Paid on time every month. Until she was unable to. After long talks with her, it was just stuff. Come to when we needed to check the unit for the most important things pictures, grandpa's ashes. Anything else. My grandmother and I had lost the key. This is where Abel Rodriguez came in. We went in and asked if there was any way we could cut the lock. He said yes. But we would have to pay a certain fee plus the late fee. My grandmother expressed that she was no longer able to afford the rent on the unit after 5 years. We came to a deal with Abel. He showed the utmost respect to my grandmother and I. It was a pleasure working with him. I'm sorry this is 10 months late but I just found your card after moving. Thank you Abel! It meant a lot. read more

Liz and Jose are very unprofessional, rude, intimidating and incompetent. They don't know how to manage and they take it to humble people. They never answer your calls. Even though they are in the office. They don't want to give proper information and they are not helpful at all. Run from this place as fast as you can. There are other great places to rent u it's nit far. Just not this location. Don't deal with Liz Gomez and Jose. Also most importantly, they charged me for unit and don't want to refund. DON'T BE FOOLED I have had a 10 x 10 unit at US Storage on Desoto in Chatsworth for at least 15 years and until this year, they have always been reasonable. Liz was the previous manager and she was kind and had a good heart. I am a senior on a fixed income. We are in a recession yet corporations are raising rents as high as possible with no empathy for their customers, new or long term like me. I have been paying 189.50 this past year. My rent was just raised to 236.50. That is a 47.00 increase, nearly 30% increase. I find this cold, inconsiderate and impossible to face. I will be taking my belongings elsewhere. Just know that they can raise the rent every 6 months to a year and that they have a new manager that isn't even returning my calls to reconsider the huge and unreasonable increase. If they do reach out to me to help me, I will consider adding to this review. read more

I had to give this place a one star mainly because of Liz. She flat out lied to me My dad passed away and we were trying to change the name and payment method for our account at US storage. I brought Liz the death certificate and she immediately had attitude and was obviously mad about something. She kept saying there's nothing that I can do you need to go to court to get a form. So I said OK well I'm just gonna close our accountAnd then she said oh never mind let me just print you out a form. She was completely disrespectful and unprofessional and I will be closing my account and taking all my stuff out and leaving a one star review and filing a complaint against her. If you're thinking about using this facility on De Soto my advice is don't do it. Liz is terrible to work with. I will be posting more reviews about my experience with this place so I can tell as many people as possible not to use this facility to save them the headache of dealing with Liz. read more

They lost me as a tenant. The female manager mentioned here by some Yelpers, is not helpful or friendly. I was uncomfortable talking to her whenever I had to go into the office. She gave me the stink eye every time she saw me walk in. Their "free truck rental" is misleading as well. If you have some time and can regularly do your homework on other self storage places, you can often find cheaper facilities elsewhere even though they may have the 50% off your first 2 month deals. Had set up two storage units costing nearly $1,000/month and they suddenly turned me away without even having a conversation with me. Apparently the tractor trailer driver called them left a message to let them know the situation and where he planned to park the rig and then move everything in by smaller truck but the property manager apparently decided he didn't want to deal with it and declined us without even so much as a conversation. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't use them if that's how they treat people. read more

I have had this storage for almost a year. And has no problems until tonight I went with my wife to put some stuff away. And we opened it and most of our wedding gifts were gone! I thought this place was clean and secure. I have bought a lock with keys and nothing was cut open. My wife and I are so upset that everything that we got from the wedding is GONE! So we don't know what to do. We have the protection plan (but What does that cover) so disappointed. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! Don't get a STORAGE! read more

Rented a one-way truck. They calculated some minimal mileage limit that I had no chance of meeting. When I turned it in they want $13 for over mileage. This ridiculous position has cost them a few customers. Me, those that helped with the move and hopefully all who read this. Penske, Budget here I come. The unit was in great shape and the facility is very secure. I feel very comfortable using this storage center and would recommend it to anyone.
