TERRIBLE. AVOID! I drive an hour across town and back to measure the space I reserved to be sure the shelves I have would fit before moving day. Although I arrived well before closing time, no one would help me. I was literally locked out. There were other people facing the same problem lined up at the gate honking their car horns to try to get someone's attention. Terrible scene. Finally, I saw an employee walking across the property and called for him to come help but he wouldn't open the gate or assist me in any way - even though they were still supposed to be open. Instead they expected me to spend another 2 hours driving there and back to return the next day? When moving day is scheduled the following day? They advertise office hours they don't honor. Good luck trying to find anyone to help you. Terrible customer service! I was left with a very bad impression of this place and don't want to ever go there again!!! read more

A location that attempted to charge a $25 late fee during CoVID-19 forgiveness efforts for only being 15 days late. I had reviewed my electronic mails from Public Storage just before I walked into this Public Storage retail office to bring my account uptodate (again, only 15 days late, for which I just received a pre-lien). I had come in to this location last month to pay my bill. The last email from Public Storage had stated that I owed $179 for April, and $179 for May (due May 1st). The Public Storage representative that greeted me wore a Chinese warrior's style bun on top of her head, and with flourish did bend over to show me her ass, and then came back over to her work station. I asked for her name so I could refer to who helped me should I need to, and she refused. She wasn't wearing a name tag, as I have seen displayed on other Public Storage personnel. I walked out without making a payment, as $25 for only being 15 days with a payment late was outrageous. I'm 15 days late for a $179 PublicStorage payment, and a $25 late fee has been levied and a pre-lien declared, while Governor Newsom's order is in effect directing that price-gouging is prohibited in California during this state of emergency until the end of May 2021. With Public Storage's stock (that's publicly traded corporate securities, not customer-owned property stored in their storage units) at around $270 a share on the NYSE, you'd think they were a bank. I think Public Storage needs to train their personnel and look to see if their infrastructure and computer system is being used by an employee-run racketeering gang to launder activities and float a day-trading hedge fund. read more

You should come here if you want to be mistreated by staff and call the police on you when filing a complaint against him to the corporate office. This staff was so confident, he told me "I don't need to rent to you, we are always busy". After not picking up phone calls for a whole day at the store number, a staff member named Brison gives me attitude, acts like a smart ass, and when I called corporate office to complain about his behavior, he called the police claiming "I stole store property". I don't know what I would steal from a public storage store.... but all I know is I was on the phone with the corporate office explain the situation to the district manager. Public Storage defends and supports this kind of behavior by their staff. Not a company I would work with anymore. read more

We had a fabulous experience at this public storage. Henry was particularly helpful, making it so that we could finish our rental in a smooth way, even when the place was about to close. This is my second time renting out a storage unit at this location. My first day of acquiring my unit, the whole system was down and it was pouring rain! I did everything online, a new Covid updated version of their current system. The gentleman who helped me, I can't remember his name but it was on Monday, 12/28/20, he was the only person working and was literally like a freaking superhero!!! He profusely apologized for the inconvenience for my first day, very communicative and did EVERYTHING he could to get me and others who were waiting into their units. Literally RUNNING around the complex up stairs and to different units to ensure we ALL had a good experience. His customer service skills were beyond any I had seen before. He could've just sat there and told us to wait, but he was determined to make our experience with public storage one we would remember. Thank you again! read more

Got here at 5:30, they had already closed up shop (30 mins early). Due to work, I will never be able to get here before 5:30 in a week night, I was assured I wouldn't have this issue... First, the positive: The staff who work at this facility are terrific. They're courteous, patient, and do their best to help you however they can. Nonetheless, the positive in-person experience I've had here was wiped away following a 2-minute call with Anthony, the District Manager. I'd had a locker here for a year, when a friend living abroad (Australia) asked me to move some of his belongings which had been left here (including a full suite of furniture) into a large locker of his own. Since he couldn't open a locker without being present, I offered to do so for him. I reserved the locker at a move-in special price, and when I showed up I was told that the pricing was only available to new customers. The staff explained that the system wouldn't allow them to adjust pricing, so I called the district manager in order to explain my case. Had he even attempted to be sympathetic (regardless of whether he could do anything), it would have sufficed. Instead, he curtly informed me that he was not measured on customer loyalty, and had no incentive to give me a discount if he didn't have to. While I certainly appreciate the importance of maximizing revenue, his rudeness was galling. I've closed my locker, and instead moved my friend's belongings into another storage facility nearby where the staff bent over backwards to help me. I nor my friend will be returning to Public Storage. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The first time I visited my unit (before they were closing) and the elevator wasn't working. Supposedly, this is very common. The employee did an "override" of the system after calling us and other customers liars for reporting the broken elevator. Then, two employees threatened to lock us in the unit overnight when the elevator continued to not work and we couldn't get to or from our floors. I've never been treated like that by any business, and it was especially frustrating because I couldn't even access my unit during open hours (and it's only open til 6pm). Plenty of other good storage spaces nearby with 24/7 access and good reviews. read more

This business will rip you off. I was charged $129.00 for an entire month for a unit I vacated. The hours are unclear. The manager Douglas Romero has no idea what is going on at the property. They hold your ID to reserve a cart, then leave for lunch, keeping your ID locked in the office for 30-60min. Public Storage should go out of business. There are several other honest storage facilities in the area. read more

If I could I would not put any stars at all. From day one MAJOR red flags. Broken entry and exit gates, irregular hours, terrible customer service (lack of) on site, broken elevators, homeless individuals living in hallways etc, I don't feel safe going alone. Yesterday my son went to pick up his bed out of my storage, both elevators (the only access to the 3rd floor besides stairs) were broken (I was told this has been the case for over a week!). The guy in office already had a post-it note ready with district manager's phone number (who by the way doesn't answer his phone ever, or return calls). Please take the time to read all of the negative reviews already posted, I only wish I had done this. Literally everything you read I have seen or personally experienced. I can't impress on you how important it is that you find another storage property. I called a number of folks at corporate and spoke to on site and customer service seeking a reasonable response to the issue of BROKEN ELEVATORS at a STORAGE FACILITY (no brainer) before resorting to yelp and social media - they showed zero concern or explanation. Unfortunately the hours did make things a little difficult but I appreciate how secure everything was especially since the surroundings of the property were questionable. I'm already set to move out next month, Thank God! First off, the homeless problem. Along the entire block on the backside of this facility, both sides of the sidewalk are filled with homeless. It looks like a scene from The Walking Dead or Michael Jackson's Thriller video. The employees won't inform you about the break ins they are responsible for, but my police officer friends did. Secondly, this place will raise the fees on you at any given time for no reason! Lastly, the employees will close up 30 min early whenever they feel like it. So if you have to fight traffic because you work for a living (unlike the homeless outside or the employees here) and you're hoping to make it here before the close at 6pm Mon-Fri, don't count on them being open! Also, ignore the obviously fake 5 star reviews of this place. read more

Worst customer experience I have ever had in my life. The district manager is an absolute jerk also and clearly could care less to ever go above and beyond to help a customer out. Long story short, I had my first child on 8/12 and needed a storage unit asap, so had my father-in-law go to the 4th location in Venice to sign me up for a unit. They had a $1 special for the first month which was great as I never intended to keep my items in the unit for more than a month. Keep in mind we signed up for the unit on 8/13. I called twice asking when my last day was and the answer I got was '9/13' both times. I figured that sounded right since we moved in on 8/13. I got all of my stuff out on 9/13 and got a bill that same day $135. Naturally I was very confused and tried to get a hold of Anthony Penman, the district manager, for over a week to no avail. I had to work very hard to track him down (terrible terrible customer service) and finally spoke to him this morning. He told me that my move out date was 9/12 and not 9/13 so he is sticking me w/ the $135 for ONE day and was a total jerk on the phone. I would be embarrassed to have him as a manager of one of my companies so would imagine he has lost them a ton of future business. The lack of care for the clients and my situation was honestly appalling. People can tell me again and again that those locks aren't able to be picked, but on the day I was moving out, all of my stuff was unstable and I had to first clean up the mess of most of it falling on me...I brushed it aside and thought, maybe I just didn't feel the last minor earth quake or something. Moved my stuff as fast as I could because their hours are horrible, got out, and found out that my computer was missing. Still to this day, the laptop I knew the exact bag it was in was missing. When I called to file a claim, they told me I had to file a police report, file a claim, have physical evidence, and a few other things that wouldn't matter because nobody believed me. Somehow my computer vanished in thin air and I was just dismissed from then on. The insurance doesn't do shit, nobody will believe you that you had anything stolen, and nobody will even pretend to care. What is the insurance for? No idea. read more

The woman on the phone did not let me know that I would need my lock and insurance information to move into the unit. So I drove all the way there, was told I needed a lock, was not told I needed my policy information for renters insurance which I've never needed with other storage units so I was forced to pay for theirs. Instead of apologizing the employee argued that he told me I needed insurance before I move in. I'll be leaving after the special rate is up. It's not hard to be thorough and helpful. read more

This place is a joke. Customer service is the worst I've encountered in long, long time. I called in advance to reserve a drive up to store a few motorcycles. First the agent on the phone was helpful but had a million fucking questions. "Are they yours?" "Are they registered?" "Are you storing boxes?" Yes yes and stinking yes. So they reserve it. A $580 month clip which I say fine I need the space rn. So I show up to get it and pay. The two dumbshits at the desk have a million firkin questions. The same questions. I tell them yes they are my bikes yes they are registered blah blah blah. One has a non-op is that a problem? "Uh, it can't have gas or oil in it" "uh how many bikes?" Uh, uh uhhhh. Take your head out of your ass. So then they start getting snooty and give me an attitude. Obviously do not want my business. read more

Awesome service, decent prices, good location. Been a customer for 2 years and so far so good. They have specials sometimes and I've been able to upgrade to a larger room for a lower price. I love to save money. Only peeve is that there are homeless people living on a nearby street, so I was worried the first few visits but the security is very very good here and I don't worry about it anymore. Well, unlike the other reviewers, I had a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! Last Sunday, I moved from Marina del Rey to Santa Monica. Upon arriving to new my new bungalow in SM - late on Sunday afternoon with ALL OF MY BELONGINGS in the moving truck - I discovered it was tented & completely closed up!!! My new landlord was out of town and I had to quickly come up with a Plan B - which was to move my stuff into PUBLIC STORAGE in Venice & check into a pet-friendly hotel for the night. It was 4P on a Sunday when I arrived ... PUBLIC STORAGE was totally ACCOMMODATING - without hesitation - and hooked me up with a SUPER GREAT RATE!!! Thanks Guys! Storage rooms were totally clean. Venice is NOT crime free - there is very good reason to have key codes at entrance & exit gates & why they are open only during daylight hours. This is how a business should operate. read more

Place is a dump. Kept raising prices on my unit to a ridiculous amount. Whole facility wreaks of urine cause there's a massive homeless problem there and they piss all over the joint, every time I went there I felt like I had to get a hepatitis shot after. This public storage is one of the best on the westside! Have been here numerous times and every single time I have come out very satisfied. Got everything I needed and on my different visits have been helped by three young men. Kevin, Vernon & Gio were very helpful and helped me with all my questions. I recommend this location for anyone who needs extra space and wants great customer service. Love that this location is so close to different restaurants, usually when I'm done here I love getting myself a bite to eat! read more
