I am pissed beyond. How dare your staff disrespect me when I pay bloody $300 for a storage that I opened almost ten years ago. Which I started paying $125 for and now it's ridiculous not only the price but the lack of respect and changes that are NOT in our favor might I add. You guys not only changed the time from 10pm to 7pm without any notice or communication after maaany years at this locations. Which put me in a situation as is. And by the way, I only chose this location & company because of the time which suddenly then changed out of nowhere. SMH. Now you guys charge more then double the price and give less time, have this ignorant rude staff telling me the business is HIM!!? Smh. I came 15mins before close and needed to quickly grab my mic stand for a show in the morning. And when I ask nicely this old guy with long hair, the bitter motha F speaks down to me and acts like I'm a problem. I pay enough and they never closed early before. But now we pay WAY more & get WAY less!!! SMH it's insane. Sooo miserable, unprofessional, unreasonable & this experience was outrageous. I can get out of the property, but i can't get in when I was already on the grounds. Like Wth. As long as I have 5 -10 mins to go up and down should be fine and they used to give a 10min grace period to leave out the gate. I literally was still out by five mins to 7. I complained to this guy who I asked to let me get something quick. And just because I told him how disappointed I was he took it personal and started threatening me to kick me out as if I was a problem. Omg!! SMH unbelievably messed up. I pay to get my sh from there when I need it. And I even told him I drove almost two hours to get back to the storage in time. It's absolutely AWFUL!! He freaked out on me. And I said I am talking about the company. He then says I am the company!!. And You can get out! Wow!!!! Shocked. How dare he speak to a women in this way who simply was rushing to get my property I pay to store there yeeears! Almost a decade if not already. I refused to leave was in the elevator and he yelled at me. Acting crazy defensive and out lf line!!! I said no, I am getting my mic stand. Like WTF. Never in my life have I had such disrespect from a business I have supported paid sooooo much money to. And I can easily go somewhere else too!!!!!! Which I will. Outrageous. I do not deserve this awful treatment. Also, a nice older man helped me hold the gated door a sec so I could ask him in the office to help me up quickly. And it was pouring rain. My car was already inside but suddenly my code wouldn't work because of it being 15 mins before. That's outrageous. Ridiculous. And, I still had 12 mins after. I told him the man is standing it the rain waiting for me. Can we pls go. He was purposely ride wasted time with his attitude rather then just being nice and saying sure just be real quick. Which I planned to do. I literally opened my storage grabbed my stand and was less then 2mins and I pay big money for that!!!!!!! Unreal. Whack!!! Got me settled in and made me feel like everything was going to be ok. The environment is clean and no one can break in which I needed at the moment. Car was illegally towed inside the unsigned private parking lot. We came back to it and we got yelled off the property by a loudspeaker stating the (police were dispatched) while we were trying to call the tow company. Tried calling in the morning to see why they didn't call us. They said they called us but didn't call. Mean response from the local office on the first call, ok response on the second call, waiting for corporate to deliver a response before taking it to small claims court. read more

December 30, 2024 | received this injury due to this protruding foot-long piece of metal Sticking from the wall around a blind corner. I asked for a Band-Aid in the front office, and was scoffed at. "We don't give customers bandaids. Do you think we're a Pharmacy?" I had to go to the emergency room, Had to get a tetanus shot, Had to go on antibiotics, missed two weeks of work, and now six weeks later have a lifelong scar. Extra Space storage? Their response has been "Lady go f$&k off." Even their employees (Look online) Say the worst part about their job is how aggressive they are towards customers. And there's a class Action suit against them for their unethical bait and switch tactics. Not "good" Mormons who run this Utah corp! Whatever you do, pick ANY other storage unit than this place. I am literally the easiest customer any business could ever deal with, but from the moment I arrived... I mean barely out of my car, the male clerk came in hot yelling at me about my car being in front of the gate. Understandable if the big giant moving truck behind me was MY moving truck. I couldn't find the code to get in and instead of helping me, he and the female clerk kept yelling at me to move my car. It was unreal! Every word out of my mouth was met with some version of "move your car now!" Problem is I couldn't at that point cuz of the moving truck. The hostility was absolutely palpable which is why these guys win the prize of getting my one or two bad reviews I write per year on this site. As a customer all I ever ask for is the most basic level of common courtesy. I got the exact opposite here and as a project manager who helps ppl organize their spaces, I almost always have my clients get a storage space. Extra Spaces is officially on my black list now. Trust me... take your business somewhere else. The ppl who work at these storage places are usually pretty nice, but here they could care less about their customers. read more

This storage space has short access hours (closes earlier than posted), will suddenly increase prices to anyone currently renting units, and questionable customer service. Last time we went employee Marissa spent thirty minutes trying to flirt with a customer who just wanted a storage unit while customers waited in line. Later saw customers in the parking lot with their full carts unable to get into the building but unable to access. The location is convenient so if you don't mind increasing prices and have a very flexible schedule it is a choice if desperately needed. read more

I really don't know where all these bad reviews are coming from but to each their own. George is absolutely AMAZING! Moving days absolutely suck as so much can go wrong and mine def had that. Came in to Extra Storage about to cry and George was amazing! He was beyond helpful, made sure we knew where we were going, and (I think he saw pure defeat in my eyes) helped out when I didn't have a lock. Literally the highlight of the moving day. I just went to access my unit that I've had for years, and the gate hours have changed entirely. Once open for me to access until 10pm, it now closes at 6 on weekdays and earlier on weekends! What the ? I'm an insomniac who chose this facility BECAUSE OF ITS ACCESS HOURS. I'm learning now that this is due to break ins? I haven't been to my unit in a couple of months. Is my stuff even safely stored still? I don't know! I hope they hire security and give us our original hours back. I will be forced to move my stuff elsewhere otherwise as these new gate hours will never work for me. Access denied and I can't even check on my stuff to see if it's safe, let alone unload my car as planned. Short hours, rarely carts available*** While I don't mind the shorter hours, there are rarely carts available. I went on several different days to move in before finally using my own hanging rack to transport boxes to my locker. Rate doubled in three months*** After three months they doubled my rate - apparently they'd mailed a small "junk mail like" (their words, not mine) postcard informing me of the increase. The woman then informed me that no smaller lockers were available and that the rates for all units were equivalent to the new price I was now being charged. I looked online after our conversation and there were three lockers advertised on their site - the same size or larger - for the same price I was originally paying. She indicated this often happens and I was still paying "less than market rate". i.e.: Expect another increase soon. Clean *** On the positive side the building seems to be kept relatively clean. If you don't mind misleading pricing (which isn't an issue for everyone) the location is at least convenient for Venice/Playa/Marina. read more

Run run run!! Unethical business practices and rude customer service. I put a unit on hold and paid a security deposit, or so I was told, of $50.89. Actually I think part of it was for a lock which my client had his own and using his own was approved. I asked for the name and number of the manager of that location so we could meet with him and was told he would contact me. When he didn't I responded to a text and asked for the info. They never responded. We never got the unit and yet they won't refund the $50.89. These people are highly unethical. I dealt strictly with the CS at 855-640-2819. I am so annoyed that all my stuff is gone. I came to my storage after not being there for awhile sometime in august or September and reported that the screws had been removed to break into my storage while it was still locked with the big lock. i reported it and they did nothing and after i am missing all the jewelry i uploaded to their site on yelp saying stolen from marina del rey storage, i am so upset. my old jewelry box along with old jewelry from my grandma is gone and so many things i cant replace is gone. if i had to blame someone it would be the first top storage on my row as the guy kept eying everything when i was there but i know i cant judge or blame anyone, because anyone could have done it. but if i had to guess id like for management to check his storage in section B the 2nd or 3 entrance down the hall from the bathrooms. i am so pissed that antiques are gone. read more

They are highly place is secure and the location is accessible. The two young ladies and the young man that helped me were both so professional there are not enoughadjectives to describe them. THIS IS A COMPANYWIDE POLICY AND TACTIC SO IT AFFECTS ALL LOCATIONS, NOT JUST THE ONE I RENTED FROM. Do not rent from Extra Space Storage. 1. Hidden in their agreement is that they can (and do) raise your rent at any time. 2. After ONE MONTH at the advertised rate that I signed up for ($167/mo) they raised it by 50%!!! 3. Without notice!!! 4. Only when I called them on this did they agree to a PARTIAL refund, and would not guarantee future increases would not happen. They will always use the same language: "From time to time customers may be subject to a rent increase due to the competitive blah blah blah." There's no "time to time" about it. They will IMMEDIATELY AND SUBSTANTIALLY GOUGE YOU after you sign up. This *IS* their business model. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. My unit was robbed within 3 months. My things were taken, boxes opened, and personal belongings found in the hallways in the building. I was assured the facility was safe and there was minimal theft. The price on my unit raised from $128 to $140 within 3 months. Upon arrival to the facility after the robbery, the staff was extremely rude and inconsiderate. The woman on staff explained, "well then you should have had insurance. This isn't on us, robberies happen and it's not our problem." She then began making rude comments under her breath and stating, "how do you think I feel, now I have to clean up all of these units." There were over 20 units robbed at 2am. No security, no leads. Do not do business here. read more

After storing my furniture for three years I go to get it out this week. First we notice the mold on a chair and my dresser. Then it becomes apparent that there is a hole in the roof of the unit. When I talked to the manager I get a vacuous gaze and -did you get insurance?Because they aren't responsible for a leak going through the roof of their units. There wasn't even a cursory apology. Disgusting Avoid at all costs. If this weren't enough. The manager before I found this leak told me I did not need to do anything else in terms of ending contract/moving out. I'm moving out in January as soon as I can find a better place. They are nuts, to keep raising rent on storage units this frequently. They already planned the (sucker rent hikes) after the first couple months to the next sucker that thinks they're getting a 1 month off "deal" only for their rent to be raised later. What deal is that?! I would NOT recommend Extra Space Storage EVER because of the ridiculous rent and insurance hikes scam. Consider renting with them? Read this and other reviewers, those random rate hikes, is nothing but shady business. You move in thinking you will be treated fairly. It's a hassle moving your stuff in and out to other storage units. As long as they get theirs, they don't really care about customer retention or loyalty. Look at the management's comment (response to mine) saying they do this so they can keep the units clean. Like that's a selling point that clean storage is the trade-off for greedy rent hikes? Words of advice with Extra Space Storage: Make sure you do your homework before getting their 'deal'. It's a bait and switch game. Once you're in, they WILL hike the rent up. STOR-IT or Public Storage doesn't do that. Even if the storage is farther away, I'd drive the distance than to deal with Extra Space Storage's rent hikes. No thanks. It's bad enough LA is not affordable with gentrification (and there's a mass exodus out of LA), now you also have to deal with greedy storage unit owners who also want to hike their rent on storage units... thefts and break-ins occur weekly, on february 19th, 20 units were broken into including mine. over $10,000 worth of my belongings were stolen. upon the lapd pacific division arriving, they informed me units are taken from weekly. do not, i repeat, do not rent a storage unit here. my police report incident number is: 220303001767. i was not called to be notified until march 1st, by phone. the staff at extra space does not notify you that you must call the lapd on-site to file a police report. the building and perimeter are not secure and the commercial property is repeatedly robbed without management hiring security or retrofitting the building. read more

She went above and beyond to help with finding my unit, using the equipment, and making sure I had no issues with locking my unit when done. Management does not have security. There are homeless living in the units and breaking into the units. Homeless are repeatedly coming in and out of the units with their luggage and duffel bags. If you look back there was 20 units broken into on February 19 which is why they locked the facility down. Instead of hiring adequate security at night they now only allow you to access your belongings for 6-8 hours out of the 24 hour day. read more

I've rented from this location off and on since 2000 and it has improved dramatically since Extra Space took over. It is ALWAYS clean, the staff is Friendly especially an employee named Gerson. He is nice, professional and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, they like most storage spaces are expensive but worth it, I highly recommend this location. read more
