At move-in, I had my security code and easily found my space which was cleaned, sealed and contained my expensive padlock. I still haven't stepped into their office. You can never get a callback from the property manager. Renters don't follow directions which I'm waiting to find out someone is divorcing and the person removed belongings they shouldn't have. The only good employee they have there now is Erin (I think that's his name). The rent always goes up and it's not necessary. read more

The staff and administration are horrible!! Rude and unprofessional. Every person I've spoken to has given me misleading, and contradictory information every step of the way. I lost keys to my lock and was advised that I needed to bring my own locksmith to open my unit. I drove all the way from Palm Springs to get my things and I was told that I wouldn't be let in because I hadn't paid my bill which I had actually paid two weeks prior. Ended up calling corporate and they confirm that the payment has been received, but that I would have to pay for another month. I agreed to pay the amount just to get my things out. When I arrived at the location, they told me I would not be able to get in to my unit And became extremely argumentative with me, even though I was trying to explain that I had my own locksmith. It's almost as if the staff would rather be combative and helpful. I highly discourage you using this business for storage. read more

I must say I am extremely picky about where I store my items. I have had my storage here for 1 1/2 years and just moved them out a week ago. I love this place, it's clean and my items were safe and everything is just like i left it 1 1/2 years ago. I always felt secure about my belongings. The girls that work here Brandy and Yvette are beyond helpful every time I needed anything. They are 5 star and always ready to help. I would have given overall 5 stars except for two things. My storage rate went up twice within the first year. By year two they assured me it would not go up for another year. This comes from the company so the local Public Storage has no control over this. However, I would say even with the increases it was well worth it to be in a safe and exceptionally clean storage facility. My other issue is safety. My storage unit was on the third floor. Going by after the front office is closed is a little intimidating as you are on your own in the building. I tried to always come when the office was opened as they have cameras in the office watch the inside. Highly recommend Public Storage in Westlake Village!!! read more

People who work there are friendly and very helpful. HOWEVER... buyer beware on the rental rates (determined by corporate and not the local storage unit facility)... over a two-year span my monthly rate went from $55 to $94. My rates were increased without any formal email or call. They just went up. All my payments have been on time and my credit score is excellent. This is just a procedural annual increase. A 71% price increase over a two-year span is insane. When I called their corporate number to inquire about my rates, I received indifference from their operator. Needless to say I do not recommend Public Storage as a business choice. Again, nothing personal against the employees at Westlake Village Public Storage as they are always helpful and very friendly, just steer clear of the price gouging at Public Storage. read more

STAY AWAY ! this company will get you in the door and raise your rates constantly. I have had my rates raised three times in the last seven months. And these aren't small raises. The people at the counter are helpless because this all comes from corporate and when you submit a raise reduction e mail you simply get denied by either a computer or a pencil pusher who has no authority to do anything. This place is such a pain in the ass. To get in the gate you have to get out of your car because the keypad is too far away. When you get to the elevator you have to punch in your code from outside every time you want to go up. The security is a joke. They hardly have any cameras. There is a thin wire mesh to secure your items. It is so easy to cut thin wire like that. It's very easy to get on top of the units and look in to see what is stored. If you put any items in there I suggest covering everything so it cannot be seen from the top. It would be so easy to have an alarm on each unit so that if anyone tried to open or enter any unit besides there own an alarm would go off. There so many easy solutions to stop the theft that happens at these places constantly. By yourself around lock at the hardware store and save 50% I am only storing furniture so I'm not worried. If I was storing something expensive it would not be here. read more

I was happy with Public Storage for years. And then our unit was buglarized. The bad actor rented a unit in the same row and after hours went through the chicken wire in the top of that unit and then down through the chickenwire into our unit. Opening the door to our unit was easy from the inside. All they had to do was to screw the plate that held the locks on the outside of the door and push it out. it is too easy for any unit to be buglarized. These vulnerabilities have been published on the internet for years. I recommend finding a storage provider with better security. read more

I miss seeing randy and the other regulars at this storage place. The parking outside to come pay sucks. There is one handicapped space and like 3 regular spaces to park in. Not to mention if you have a big truck it's hard to get out of the space. If you pay over the phone it costs 15$$ more adding on your bill. So stupid. I have to drive here everytime to pay it.
