Update: called the number that Storquest said to call below my first post and the lady who answered said she doesn't know why I called and she'll tell her boss! So they answer a bad review to look like they care, but proved again they don't care and never return calls! Original post was removed. My storage unit in Westlake Village had major water intrusion from above and everything in my unit is ruined. And when I spoke to Robert, the district manager, he told me to read my contract and what he was saying was you're not supposed to store anything of value ( monetarily or sentimentally) , so only store your trash in storquest Westlake villages building!!! Of course, if you have a boat, I guess that's not gonna get damaged from the water. My insurance company reached out to them numerous times and nobody would take their calls or return their call, so they denied my claim! I spoke to Asher in the local office and he said he was told not to speak to us or our insurance company and that Robert, the district manager would take care of it!!! His way of taking care of it is ignoring us and not answering anything. I was denied by my insurance company, State farm, because nobody at store request would answer their questions. I did have a small policy through store quest that they make you buy and yes, that one paid but what they paid won't even cover the cost to get the unit cleaned out and everything dumped. My relationship with Storquest in Westlake started off a bit rocky. An employee had provided me with inaccurate business hours for access to the facility when I first rented the unit end of November, causing me a huge inconvenience and unnecessary worrying. However, the staff has definitely redeemed themselves.. especially Juan who went out of his way to move some items i'd left behind on xmas eve. He reached out with a courtesy phone call to remind me of my items; he was very pleasant and understanding. The location has easy access, it's clean, and the team at this location is reasonable and easy to speak with. read more

BEWARE!Unsafe!!!! We were using this for short term storage Our unit was robbed and the person had enough time to go through every box, this would've taken a decent amount of time, the sheriffs knew exactly what storage we were at without us even telling them first, they said it is robbed all the time (12 times since nov 2016)and that it's most likely an inside job. It has been robbed at least 2 more times since our incident, my husband went today to empty our unit and another robbery occurred. We asked management when we moved in if they had any theft and he lied to our faces and said no that it is a very quiet area. read more

I would very much recommend going elsewhere. They will raise your already high rates once you are in and the service is terrible. They shortened the hours (not Corona related) so accessibility is very limited. Also, when I do show up at 9 am (opening) the doors are still not unlocked and I have to wait. I also have shown up in the afternoon and had my door not be unlocked which means I have to track down the staff and wait some more. I will be very happy to get out of this location. read more

This place will hold your stuff hostage. And the management has no sympathy for emergency situations. Makes you jump through hoops if you lose you storage keys. I understand that companies have rules but when you provide all of the obvious real documentation and proof to gain access there property manager Caitlin still made it a 3 hour ordeal. DO NOT USE THIS STORAGE FACILITY. Our unit was broken into and vandalized. $1,000's of items stolen. Management did not help or support us, and did not seem surprised that it was broken into. We asked if anyone else's unit was broken into and they stated they don't have that information, which is suspicious. There are no cameras inside the storage facility. The police are now looking into the robbery. read more

A really great place with amazing customer service! They have good security and I liked that the parking lot is in the middle of all the units and its very well lit. Other storage units I have used don't really have a parking lot which I always thought was weird. The people at the front desk were always kind and would do their best to help me out. UNPROFESSIONAL - SERIOUSLY BAD SERVICE!!! I have had nothing but problems with them for the last 3 years. The staff are badly trained and outright clueless. On multiple occasions they have given me the wrong pin number (in writing) and/or changed it without notifying me. Which resulted in me not be able to access my storage unit after driving all the way out there. The pin number is designed to allow customers access the locked buildings and electronic gate 24/7. The office is always closed with an "Will return at..." sign posted on the door morning, noon, and night... The staff is rarely ever there to help when the pin fails to work properly, which happens frequently. Last year, I went to retrieve a spare blanket from storage at 5:30pm They closed the entry gate while I was in my unit. I was only in there a few minutes. My pin failed to open the gate. I phoned the 24 hour service number posted on the wall repeatedly. Every call went straight to automated voicemail. I ended up having to call 911. The fire dept. eventually managed to disable the electronic gate. It was after 8:30pm by the time I was finally able to leave. I just got a email from Storequest saying my autopay didn't go through and threatening late fees. The visa on file passed its expiration a few days ago. The bank renewed that same card months ago. I emailed them the new expiration date. Caitlin refused to update it, despite the fact ALL information remained exactly the same, including the visa#. She demanded that I come in person to fill out a new form. And claimed that "no one can fill it out on my behalf". WTF! I'm traveling abroad and they expect me to drop everything, jump on a plane, and fly back because of an expiration date??? Storequest does NOT have a secure web porthole for existing customers to update their financial info online. SERIOUSLY??? This is a national chain! They have numerous locations across 13 states. What kind of company, in this day and age, does not offer this simple service? When I return to California, I am moving to another storage facility. I've had enough of their exceptionally bad service! read more

I had an amazing experience at this location. I forgot the name of the guy who helped my wife and me, but he was extremely helpful and had great customer service skills. He went over their hours and so forth and even showed us how to use the equipment elevator. He went out of his way to ensure that we were satisfied and we really appreciated it. Well, I thought about writing this review, and then decided not to - but then they sent me a letter asking for me to write a review on Yelp, so I decided I should. The guy helping me out when I moved in was very nice person - however, he definitely needs to brush up on his customer service skills. While taking my information to take my deposit, some other client came in because he lost his keys, to which the person behind the desk ignored me and left me standing there for a FULL 20 MINUTES while he searched the entire office for this guy's keys. It's okay to look around quickly for his keys, but once he realized they weren't in the usual drawer, you think you would tell him to wait until he was finished with me, who was there first. I could have easily walked out at that point, and taken my business somewhere else - there are tons of Storage Unit Facilities around here. This last point being said - the prices here do NOT work towards keeping people for the long term. While it is at an affordable price to start, it goes up 10% after 6 months (not even a full year), and then an additional 10% every 10 months after that! That is alot of price hiking, and this wasn't going to be told to me until I asked. I only found it in the contract after reading everything thoroughly, while the person behind the desk was trying to rush me to sign in and not read it until after I paid. This does not encourage me to keep my business with them in the long run, and sounds like a poor business practice to me - charge your long term, loyal customers more and give low prices to start? It just rubs me the wrong way. read more

I am getting ready to move out because they sent me a rent increase after only 4 months at this facility. It turns out that they can raise the rent after 5 months (they gave me notice at 4) and then EVERY 3 MONTHS after (for month to month). At least that is what the gentlemen in the office told me. It turns out that ALL storage facilities are allowed to raise rent after 5 months and every 9 months thereafter according to California law. It would have been nice if they shared that information. I guess people get lazy and accept the increases. This time I will get a year in advance and then shop around should I need space for longer. I also agree with Matthew C. Even if you set an appointment, CALL AHEAD! I think the manager has an apartment close by because the office is NEVER open and you have to call the central number and they page/contact the manager. Facility is VERY bare bones. A lot of plywood everywhere. Big fire danger. Oh yes, they hit you up for a mandatory insurance unless you specifically name them on your home owners policy. This is not mandated by California ( you only have to show proof of insurance). Again, another way to get money from lazy people. Will not go there again even if they are the cheapest. read more

Once again Caitlin the manager of the Westlake Village, CA facility proved what an outstanding employee she is. I phoned to request an additional storage unit to the first one I rented some time ago. As expected, Caitlin was professional, informative and friendly. She immediately researched available units, presenting me with a variety of sizes and locations within the complex. Next, I visited the site and was shown the unit which most closely matched my requirements. Paperwork was a breeze and within a short while I was on my way. Heed all the warnings about poor customer service and burglary going on in their Westlake location. Our unit was recently burglarized. The building is not secured, no indoor video. Basically no tools to help you get your stolen stuff back. Sounds like a racket to me, Storquest. Shame on you. Even the police officer taking our police report said this storage facility is chronically plagued with break-ins and he was not surprised. read more

My lock was cut off and items were stolen. Filed a police report and police told me this place gets robbed very often. Told management I wanted to terminate my lease and they were unwilling to work with me or give me extra time to move out since I need help moving a large piece of furniture. DO NOT STORE YOUR STUFF HERE. My unit was burglarized late April/Early May of 2017. After the break in, I had gone there 3 separate times to pick up the remainder of what was left behind. 2 out of 3 times that I was there, someone else was reporting a burglary. As someone mentioned before me, the law enforcement officers I have talked to were aware of a substantial number of burglaries occurring at this location. When we initially signed up we asked the person at the desk how the security was and he told us nothing ever happened there. Complete BS. They know exactly what's going on, but won't do anything about it. The front gate remains open during business hours; which I have never seen any other storage facility do. And to top it off, the main entrance to my indoor unit didn't always close on its own. So anyone could just walk in there and snip a lock. The only cameras they have on site are supposedly aimed at the parking lot, which provides essentially nothing in terms of surveillance. When approached with security concerns, the employees just blame the property owner/manager. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security due to Westlake Village being a nice area. This place is incredibly unsecure. read more

Okay folks, here's the update on StorQuest in Westlake Village. I can honestly say that they have taken every step possible to quell any complaint or problem I may have had. The location, to me, is perfect, the staff is great and hardworking, the price is right (we'll see if there are any untimely price raises), it is exceptionally CLEAN, and I feel very safe that my belongings are in a safe lock-down! Although I still recommend you measure the size of the facility your renting to make sure it's accurate, if you need extra storage space, give them a call, give them a try...it's worth the drive! read more

We had the same experience as Emma L. (see her post 3/18/2017) We also had stored items at this location with the previous management and always felt it was safe because they made sure to identify who was accessing units. This time we were told by new management that it was best to have a cylinder lock for insurance purposes (which we complied with) and because "it can not be cut off with bolt cutters." Nothing could be further from the truth as I found the piece they cut off inside the unit when we went to remove the remainder of our belongings from this unsafe place. It also had been replaced with a cheap combination lock (covered with an oily substance) and with a sticker on it. The day we discovered our loss, during normal business hours, the main gate was open and the door to the storage units did not require the access code. The office was locked and dark. Found out there are only security cameras for the parking lot. Poor security and lazy management makes this place an easy target for thieves. According to our local newspaper there has been an average of one burglary per month over the last six months and nothing has been done to step up security there. Who knows how many others may not have been reported to the authorities. Check out nearby facilities with much better security. Might cost a few more bucks, but the cheap always comes out expensive. read more

We have had a storage unit here for about 18 years. With the previous management they used to make sure that only those with a storage unit could access the building. However when management changed they stopped having people sign in to access their storage unit and now only require a code to enter the building and the door is left open most of the time during the day, so anyone could enter. Many hallways inside do not have cameras and the tops of the storage units are made of metal chain so you can see into the until if you get on top or lifted yourself up to lookover, making it easy for someone to see what's inside each unit. Our unit was robbed the other day and we can't even find out who did it or when it happened because they have no cameras in our hallway. Our lock had been cut without our permission and they had gotten a new lock from the office with the storquest sticker on it, which they are only supposed to give to people who have a unit. They put the new lock on after they were done so it didn't look suspicious. The poor Security and management make this an easy target for criminal activity. We will be removing our stuff as soon as possible and anyone who has a unit with them should check their units frequently. read more
