The fresh lemonades were a great addition as well. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the Detwiler's cookies were another highlight of the visit. When I came to this store on a Tuesday afternoon there was a lot of people shopping here. They lay out is the same as most stores but what is unique is the bakery is to the left when you walk in and the bakery offers a lot of pastries like danish and croissants in their case for single purchases and also already packed. I had never visit this specific chain store and after doing some research I out these stores are only in Manatee and Sarasota county's. Very unique store with some different varieties but also keep and eye on some items , I wouldn't buy cleaning products here or body care items as those can be found for a better price at Publix and often BOGO but some other items like candy's in packaging toward the produce área was interesting they also offer a wide variety of cut fruit. Beware if you don't like seafood the smell starts to sneak on you as soon as you get to the produce área and it's pretty strong. Costumer service here doesn't come close to like at Publix but overall a store to look at if you are near one in any of the the two county's they are in. Four stars,why? because of the strong odor of fish and I felt like the store didnt have enough space for costumers to get around ,to many displays of products in the middle off the aisle.

They also have an ice cream shop right at the front of the store (it was delish). When we went, they had steak, cheese, ham and cheese croissant, and cookie samples. My favorite was the Red Dragon cheese (w/mustard and ale). I havent been able to find it elsewhere. The ham and cheese croissant was so good that we bought 4 of them. I also got the clam chowder, and it was honestly one of the best soups I've ever had. we sat at the tables in the front to eat it, and it was so good we went back and got seconds. We checked out the deli too, where you can build your own sandwich or order from the hot food section. They had fried chicken, ribs, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and more. I was talking with one of the ladies working there, i mentioned it was my first time visiting since i was just in town visiting family; she was so sweet and gave me, my niece, and my nephews a chicken tender EACH to try. super nice of her to do that. we ended up getting the potato wedges too, and they were so good we finished them before we even got home. I wish there was a Detwiler's in Virginia. I'd probably be there every week...

I've had the Lobster Bisque, The Gumbo, and the Clam Chowder. All are awesome, but the Clam Chowder is the best I've ever had. I usually pair a sandwich with my soup, and my go to's are the Chicken Salad Wrap or the Italian Hoagie. All are fresh made every day and ready to go in the deli case. I've also heard the Cuban is pretty awesome so I imagine I'll be trying it soon. The owners are super friendly, and the market is well stocked with all the odds and ends you may need for a beach trip or a snack. I can't recommend this place enough.

Last night we were in Bradenton and decided to grab another Publix sandwich, so we stopped in this store along Cortez Rd. It was late, just after 9pm, and we were happy to see the deli was still open. They had a special for $2 off their Italian sandwich, so that's what we got. What a great sandwich and a great experience. After a long day of work, I would have expected our sandwich maker to be tired and just going through the motions, and that was so not the case. She was attentive and funny as we joked around. The sandwich she made was very good once we got it home, my photo only shows half, my wife took the other half. All the sandwich components were good from bread to meats to toppings to the mayo and sub sauce.

In some…read moreways, the selection is better in certain areas, especially if you'd like 1000 choices of olive oil. For seasonings, the selection is pretty sparse. I do really like that. They have a butchers counter if you can call it that. I think they mostly get in slabs of meat that they just cut up into steaks. But it sure beats most grocery stores nowadays. But be prepared to pay 50 to 100% more than you would pay at a grocery store and significantly more than you would pay at Costco or Sam's Club. These stores are a lot smaller than you might see at a Publix or Kroger, so of course their selection is small smaller. One nice thing is you can find employees around the store who are willing to help you out. I'll give an example. Choice quality ribeye on sale for $23 a pound. I think the cheapest dozen eggs I saw was seven dollars. The same eggs you'll find it most grocery stores nowadays for about 2.5 or 3 dollars. The smaller size and fewer customers does make getting around the store quick quicker and checking out a little bit quicker. If you need help, they will generally have help available.
