Knick knack stuff filled the place up and was hung on the walls. I noticed a stage but there was sadly no music when we visited. Our waiter was fine, not overly attentive or friendly. Our waiter messed up our checks, but oh well. Was provided a sling for the baby in our group to hang out. Great menu with a little bit of everything. Went with the hot chicken sandwich which came with French fries. The heat wasn't too overwhelming and chicken was juicy. Fries was crispy and had a good flavor. I've frequented every Pucketts in Tennessee and this location is THE BEST. Rarely ever wait for a table, staff is always friendly and attentive and the food just tastes better here. The manager at this location is so flexible on substitutions. We always sub the pulled pork for the hot chicken on the piggy Mac and it's a game changer! The fried chicken is so fresh and tastes just like Grandmama cooked it. The ambience is that of an old timey grocery store--except add a bar, variety of alcoholic beverages and live music. The restaurant is right on the square On a nice night, it's hard to beat the serenity of a walk around the square or a few minutes of sitting in a bench - before or after a meal. The restaurant's vibe is one of music and musical nostalgia. There a stage and music is available on certain nights (check the website for a schedule and musicians). This location seems to work hard at the music vibe - like Costco works hard at seeming like a warehouse. It's there, but it seems to just be for the sake of it. For dinner, I picked the BBQ Platter, which comes with pulled pork and brisket, fries, baked beans, slaw, and a Cajun corn cake. I tossed in the sausage for a few more dollars. BBQ, especially brisket, can be made to look easy, but it's not. Yes, it's simple seasoning with a long slow cook, the results of which are juicy and moist meat that will make your tongue want to slap your brain outta its skull. If, however you exceed the time and temps, or miss the seasoning you get something that's terrible and tasteless. That was my Puckett's visit. The brisket should have been moist and able to hold its shape, but still be tender. That was not what I got. The brisket is cut about the thickness of a quarter or 1/2 dollar. There were 3, small pieces, none of which were tender or moist. I had to coat 1 piece in BBQ sauce to eat it. The pulled pork was more moist, but stringy. Neither the pulled pork or brisket had a decent taste of smoke. The sausage was left off my plate and the server didn't swing by to check, so I had to go get her. It was several more minutes before she brought it out. The sausage was warm, moist, and had a good flavor. I felt like I got a larger serving of it than usual due to the omission and wait. The sides were okay. The fries were likely the best part of the meal. As for the Cajun corn cake, I'm certain at one point it was warm - after all, it had been cooked, but it was not anything near warm when I got It. Moreover, it had no great Cajun flavor. My recommendation is to keep walking around the square for a meal elsewhere. There are certainly better BBQ places in The 'Boro. read more

Stopped into Puckett's for dinner on a recommendation. There was one occupied table and two people at the bar. Walked up to the bar to look at the beer selection. Took ten minutes before bar tender stopped his busy work to help us. We sat down and waited for waitress about 15 more minutes. We ordered drinks and received them about 15 minutes later. We had asked to place our food order when she brought the drinks. We were told that we had the wrong menu. We ordered the whole farm bbq platter and a turkey sandwich. Waitress comes back after 15 minutes to tell us that they were out of turkey and couldn't make the bbq platter. We had to ask if they could still make the sandwich. She had to go to kitchen to ask and came back to tell us they couldn't. Another employee came out a couple minutes later and said waitresses info was wrong and that they'd have our food out shortly. We ordered another drink and after 20 minutes had to ask again if we were going to get the drink. Other people had come in and received their food. We asked again and finally got our food. The pork had decent flavor but was very dry. The brisket and turkey were dry as well. The chicken was nearly dehydrated. No bread on our plates and had to ask for it. Overall horrible experience. My husband had the brisket plate with baked beans, slaw & potato salad. The potato salad was hunks of potato that looked slathered in butter. They were awful & the beans were (at least they tasted like it) bush's baked beans. Nothing bad but we weren't expecting bush's . I had the brisket sliders that were COMICAL. The tiniest little biscuit & 1 slice of brisket per biscuit. I was still hungry after lunch. The side of Mac & cheese came in a cast iron as if was baked but did not seemed baked . The wait is usually long; however, we beat the crowd by 5:45 on a Tuesday night. The hostess was friendly and engaging. The restaurant has a nice, southern ambiance, like eating dinner at your Great Grandmother's. They have many options like burgers, chicken, pulled pork, and briskets. They also have classic southern sides like fries, beans, greens, and macaroni. I got the BBQ sliders and they were great. The pulled pork came on three sister schubert rolls with fries. Sometimes the meat is a little fatty, but it wasn't tonight. The food arrived quick and our server was great. They have a dessert menu, but it's also connected to Hattie Jane's Creamery next door. We have come here twice once for breakfast and the other for lunch and were pleased both times. We always get seated right away followed by our drinks. This last time we were here I got the aouther fried chicken plate, chicken cobb salad and my husband got a double burger. All the food came out timely and good portions for the price. The chicken was so good, great flavor on the outside and nice and juicy on the inside. The side were good also with my meal. My husband's burger was huge and it also had good flavor he said the fries could of been cooked maybe a minute longer but no big deal. Cobb salad was delicious very flavorful and plenty of meat. I wanted a good meal. I could not leave home at the time. Puckett's is a favorite. I ordered the smoked Meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Bubba ribs on the side. It was supposed to be delivered by 8:55 pm. I did not get my order until around 9:25-30. I didn't expect it to be hot out the kitchen, it was cold and the ribs were not too tasty as I have had these before. I was just disappointed with my order. I will not use online ordering again. "Our cooks are not doing their job". "The cooks made your order as the small salad, we told them that it was the large salad". It was absolutely ridiculous. The manager did come out & apologize & took off the charge but it was nearly 8pm & too late to eat that heavy so they boxed it up & I brought it home. One of us left the restaurant very hungry. & unhappy. I would not recommend Pucketts to even my worst enemy. The other entrées were small and not well presented. The piggy mac & cheese had mainly fat and very little meat. It was very small too. The two ladies in our group went to the restroom and when you opened the door, the smell of urine hit you like a wall. It was so strong you had to hold your nose. We had a great experience at Puckett's for lunch yesterday! I haven't been in years but the food was so good and everyone working was as nice as can be. The fried pickles were perfect. Not too thin, not too greasy, and they come served with a delicious barbecue chipotle ranch sauce! I ended up getting the hot chicken sandwich and it was SPICY! But so good. I also love seasoning on my fries and at some restaurants I have to ask for extra, but Puckett's loaded them up! The mac n cheese was also delicious and the portions were perfect. One hour. That's how long it took for the food to arrive. We arrived at 10:40 AM on a Sunday and was told there be a 20 minute wait. However, we were seated within two minutes.
