I was stationed here on a long TDY with no car. I made it a point out of boredom to try every thing on the menu and I did. They have a decent menu and a decent drink selection. They can make good cocktails and will work with you to make sure you have a great experience. The building is clean and organized. They have independent heating/cooling so unlike every other building on base it will be a comfortable temperature year round. They have several TVs so showing up during games is great and they are helpful to put on what you want to see. The staff is by far the best part of this place. What a great and helpful crew all around. From the manager to the servers to the cooks. They are all great. Very respectful, helpful, love to talk stories if you sit at the bar or leave you to your own devices if you sit at a table. For the food, my favorite things on the menu were in order: Chipotle chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries Classic wings in the mama joys sauce (honey & franks) Brisket grilled cheese I didn't really care for the crispy chicken wrap or the classic Philly. The salad is pretty bare bones as well. Overall, this is a good place to get a drink and a meal. Are there better places off base? Sure but if you are in the hotel, you can't beat just walking over after a long day and relaxing a bit. They have comfy seats, good folks and decent wifi. read more

If you get to have access to where this sports bar/restaurant is located, come by and have a drink. I had forgotten how affordable their prices are. They have a great menu with a many options for all tastes and the best of all the prices are amazing. As any sports bar you will see a lot of tv's around and loudness all over. There's a nice bar and the staff is super cool. The table service is not the fastest out there, but they make up for it being super cool, helpful and polite. I really liked my server. For the girls keep in mind that they have apple cider! Loving it! They are also great at separating tabs and that is very helpful for larger groups. Pudgy's is a welcome dining choice at JBMDL (bases are not usually known for good food - and Burger King certainly does not count). I had heard about Pudgy's a number of times but never took advantage of it until recently. The menu is basically bar food and the cheese steak that I had was very good and came out quickly. I was in for a late lunch so the place was not crowded. The space is large and the bar looked quite nice - not sure if it was open but I wasn't in the mood for a beer (this does not happen often). After paying for my order I was told I had to wait outside and someone would bring out my food. Wish I could give no stars, server was the nudest person I have met in a long time. I think this place forgets that they are part of Base SERVICES.... When a crew flies 16 hours, and looks for a place to eat that they can walk to from Lodging, they expect a place to be open for something close to the hours they advertise to be open.... So, that was our case... no where else to go... when we walk in before 10pm, we are told that they close in 30 minutes.... what? It's Friday night!! Then the attitude starts, because we sat down in a 'closed' section... the worst was the 'pudgy' guy that waddles over and tells us ' this section is closed' as we are getting our food.. wtf do you want us to do, you passive aggressive ass? We were visiting our son this weekend on base and stopped at Pudgy's for a late lunch. The service was horrible, there was a handful of tables and 3 servers that seemed to not want to be there, we were walked passed many times before someone finally stopped. She told us to help ourselves to drinks and took our order, when food came out she didn't bring silverware or napkins we asked twice and she returned with 2 napkins for 3 people eating wings... food was ok nothing to brag over we ordered Patsy wings, pretzel bites and a Philly with fries. read more

IN and OUT! Is what I thought would happen when I came here to train and work. but it took some time and It took me about 3 weeks to go to Pudgy's. Locally I had heard about their wings so it's what I ordered. I wanted to try all the sauces but I settled on mama joes which is a spicy slightly sweet sauce as a few others. I really enjoyed This place. The waitress was extremely accommodating and the service was quick. They have plenty of TVs if you are there to watch sports. While I was there I was able to try the Pretzel bites, chicken wings, steak dinner, and a warm brownie Sunday. Everything tasted great. The pretzel bites were nice and toasty on the outside served with cheese sauce to dip them in. After that I ordered some wings with one of there signature sauces, the Momma Joys sauce. They had really good flavor and cooked just right. I was there for awhile watching the football games on Sunday so I ended up eating dinner there as well and ordered the steak dinner which was a generous size ribeye steak served with a loaded baked potato and a side of broccoli. It was all cooked exactly how I ordered it. I finished my experience off with a delicious, soft, and warm brownie covered in vanilla ice cream. All an all, this was a great day of eating! read more

I ended up getting to base late and they were thankfully open. The service was good and the food was fairly priced. I got the tradition wings which came quickly and were thick and juicy. Best on base establishment I've ever frequented. Not saying much as I hardly ever think to give kudos to on base clubs, but, still gets a thumbs up from me. The wings are banging! The bartenders are cute, even the 50 year old! Yes, I mean it, GILF status. 1 month of Air Advisor Academy and Academic Instructor Course and every day after class all I could think about were those delicious wings, fries and wedges. Contracted out to a civilian company which probably accounts for the high quality food/service, this is the way most on base "Moral buildings" should be. The bar is good. The food is good, but the manager is an old guy who hates being there. I was sitting at the bar on a Thursday. Just ate my food and was trying to drink my beer. Right at 930 he came over and told me that they were not serving anymore alcohol and that I needed to finish my drink. Mind you, they were not closing for 30 more minutes. This place is the only place to go since they closed the club at Fort Dix. The place is great for groups with in and out door sitting. It has multiple rooms to hang out which is nice. The food is good, but it always takes a long time to come, so if you are really hungry be ready to wait at least 45 minutes to eat. The staff is always so friendly and on point. My favorite is the hail Mary. It is definitely worth the trip to McGuire to have a good time with friends. read more

Pudgy's is definitely a four star establishment (and climbing), especially now that they've remodeled the bar to include comfy leather chairs, as well as expanded their draft selections beyond the normal domestic crap. This place is a 3.5 star really but it gets a bonus half star considering its on an Air Force Base and actually has good service. I sat at the bar and ordered a Guiness and wings. Both were very good. The mild wings had some heat to them so that was good. I would equate this place to a solid hotel bar. Not too fancy but it has everything required and it had good service. I sat down with a group of two compatriots on a Wednesday night around 7:15pm; here's a break-down of our evening 1915: Sat down at table, saw waitress bussing/taking orders for tables around us 1920: Waitress walks in busses tables next to us, doesn't even bother taking our drink or food orders 1930: Frustrated, I walk over and ask the waitress if she intends on taking our orders 1932: Waitress walks over, takes our drink and food orders 1940: Waitress walks in, brings food to table next to us, no sign of drinks 1947: Again frustrated, I walk over to the waitress who I see is striking up a casual conversation with one of the patrons and ask if we could get our drinks sometime soon-ish 1955: Waitress shows up with our drinks 2000: The rest of our party arrives, by whom we are prompted to put together two tables so everyone can sit together (all the tables at Pudgy's were kind of far spread apart) 2002: We put two tables together and try to grab enough seats for everyone 2010: Supervisor/manager type comes out and tell us that we're creating a fire hazard by putting two tables together 2012: We sit at two different tables, somewhat dumbfounded, as the rest of our party orders drinks 2015: We try once again to put two tables together, supervisor is somewhat less reluctant to stop us this time, so we are finally all seated together 2022: Our food order finally arrives I don't care if this is the only "Sports Pub" on post; they really need to get their act together and either manage the floor better or make sure their wait staff is a little more attentive to what's going on -- or here's an idea: close off the "annex" area if you can't effectively service it. I'll start out by saying this. It's been 30 minutes, and still have not received my food. Seriously, it was a sandwich. This place is way too noisy. The table was filthy when I sat down. All in all not very pleased at all. All the staff are running around like they are in a hurry for what I don't know. No one else is getting their food any quicker than me. And after 30 minutes the server comes over and says my ticket is next on the line???? Funny because about 5 minutes ago I seen the server look at me and quickly put in a order into the POS, probably my order, just speculating though. I will not be coming back. Not even sure I want to wait any longer for my food to reach my table. That and I think I just watched someone go back in the kitchen and get their own food and take it back to their table. Pudgys menu needs to expand. It does not have any options for vegetarians or vegans. They could at least have a black bean burger or a veggie burger. There are more vegetarians and vegans would live to come there if they would have a more rounded menu to cater to more diets. They don't even have a salad that does not include meat. read more

I've been stationed at JBMDL for 5 years now and I gotta say one of the best places to eat in the area is Pudgy's. Good food (esp. the wings), helpful staff, and if you go at the right time's, a quiet atmosphere perfect for conversation. I'll continue to eat here as long as I'm in NJ. Ate here our first night in. I got a burger and my husband got the chicken tenders. The burger was phenomenal. It may have been because I was hungry after driving all day, but that was the best burger I've ever had. The burger was cooked perfectly, I like mine medium rare, and the patty was so full of flavor. The fries were ok. My husband said the chicken tenders were ok, he tried my burger and had some order envy. Drinks are cheap and the service is nice. Will be going back. read more
