We went in with high hopes, especially after seeing the picture of the food, however, we were sadly disappointed. They had a whipped ricotta, jam and pesto w crostini appetizer for a special, which was good if you don't mind loads of garlic, personally I was taken aback by it and 10 hours later as I wrote this, still taste it. They also had chicken pot pie for a dinner special that the two guys at the table ordered. It definitely was not what they expected but they ate it anyway. One commented it was very salty and they both felt that in order to be called chicken pot pie, you need a full crust on top, which it did not have. The chicken drum stick app was good. Although our server was really nice, the service was lacking as it took forever to get our first cocktail and then she never asked if we wanted another as our glasses stood empty. We made a conscious effort not to ask her for one to see if she would offer, but she didn't. I usually give places a second chance, but won't be with this one as it's not worth the drive for me to take another chance. I arrived shortly after my friends were seated. We had a moment to chat and catch up. Then our waitress came right out with water and ordered our drinks. We had Mango Margaritas (shown), as well as a soda. After a few moments she came back for our food order which was: Crashed eggs (shown) and Benedict Del DÍa, and a side of sweet plantains (shown). Okay so.... We had the chicken taquitos for our app... really good! Chicken was flavorful and juicy. If you are expecting a huge app then don't. Maybe 3-4 cut on the top of guacamole and small portion of pico. Guacamole was good. But I love the pico. Again not a huge portion but just right. My wife had a Caesar salad with chicken. She is very picky and really enjoyed the salad and dressing. Wasn't a big fan of the chicken. But again she is super picky. I thought the chicken was okay but would probably get steak instead. Speaking of steak, I had the Burro burrito. Fantastic. I didn't care for the salad on the side but whoever does. The steak was flavorful, juicy, and tender. The onion and peppers were such a great compliment. Just the right amount of cheese and the. Red sauce on top sealed the deal. Small side of guacamole on the side which had what I believe to be a cassava chip. Forgot to mention the drinks. I had the blood orange daiquiri and it was BOMB!! So darn good !!! Sucks they might take out the menu.... Order it people!! My wife had the blueberry/pineapple mojito and it was great as well!! Drink menu was dope!!!!!! The bar manager was amazing!! Lastly, the desserts! I'm Puerto Rican and my wife Dominican. We know our flans. And though nothing will ever compete against our islands. This was top tier!!! The lemon bar was also phenomenal. I stopped by on a bike ride on Farmington river trail. It was lunch time so they had a limited menu. I ordered the drums and the taquitos for an appetizer. Drums sauce was franks red hot with blue cheese, chicken was not crispy like drums should be. Taquitos were good but way overpriced. For my entree I tried the Cubano sandwich, sandwich was good but there was a blond hair in my sandwich!! I told the server and she grabbed the hair and walked away with it. My husband and I LOVE Puente. We have gone numerous times over the past year and the food, the service, and the atmosphere are all top notch. I love the Latin/American twist and the food is so much better than the large chain "Mexican" restaurants. Their margaritas and other cocktails are made with perfection every time. We've gone twice so far. The first time was their soft opening. We loved it, the food was delicious and service was great as they worked out some minor soft opening hiccups. Stopped by this place over a month ago as I saw it was under new management. I sat at the bar with the intention of having a beer & an app. Also, I was interested to look over the menu. It was later afternoon & I was the only one at the bar. I was not acknowledged by the bartender upon arrival but patiently waited while he entered something into his register. I finally made it out to try this place with my father for Father's Day...let me say this, this place not only met my expectations, but blew them out of the water. There was quite literally nothing we ordered that was bad. Two appetizers, four entrees, drinks, all of it perfect. This may be one of the best restaurants in Connecticut. My GF and I tried Puente for the first time; we sat ourselves at the bar as there was no one to sit us ( no big deal) and service was wonderful. As it was Saturday they only had a brunch menu, not sure what that's all about but asked for the regular lunch menu, which we were offered the dinner menu instead. Reading the lunch menu online before we got there it was a very limited menu, so we were happy to see the dinner menu. Drinks were fine and instead of ordering meals, we decided to try out the appetizers; Ceviche, Empanadas, and Garlic Shrimp. All was fresh, hot and plated nicely, tasted good but nothing special. First time visiting tonight and all I have to say is they knocked it outta the park. The taquitos are crack they are so good. We also had the special bolengese empanadas. Everything is homemade and so authentic and flavorful. I had the short ribs and my husband had Lucy rice. Both dishes we took leftover home the plates are more than enough. Drinks delicious as well.
