Worst service we have experienced here. Waiter said they were understaffed. So hey host, stop letting people in. Still left a good tip. Wait staff usually pay the price for others mistakes. He was running from table to table. Most of the food was good. Mixed seafood fritters were very greasy and the underlying seafood could not be tasted. No one checked on us to make sure everything was okay. Utensils for one of the seafood dishes were not provided. Waited too long for check and had to chase someone down. This place is a hidden gem. I didn't know about it till my sister introduced it to me. The place has a great view and great food. You look out over the Pacific Ocean from pretty much any place in the restaurant and Peruvian food fit right in. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. It wasn't very busy when we came for lunch on a weekday but my sister told me that it's usually not that busy and that's why I think it's a hidden gem. Otherwise more people would come. read more

I was a little nervous about eating here, particularly after reading the yelp reviews but our meal was great. The ceviche was okay but the chicken empanada was stellar. Husband had the adobo, and the pork was cooked perfectly. He also ordered the donut dessert -- he ate it all. Service was excellent. View was, of course, lovely. We came to Puerto 27 a week ago..... Let me say our bartender/waitress was great..... We sat down near the bar adjacent to the kitchen in the 2 person both. All of the sudden we see one of the waitresses talking to the cooks and leaning over the food and speaking very forceful and loud projecting spit..... Another waitress is picking some food as she is picking up the customers order of French fries she begins to taste the fries before delivering them to the customer.... we were like WOW!!! But didn't say anything as we had already ordered our food and didn't want anything to go wrong with our food.... at the end it's sad to see a place that has good food but poor hygiene by its workers. read more

I've been to Puerto 27 several times over the past three years. Usually, the food and service are good and of course the view of the Pacific Ocean is amazing. I was disappointed that they took the trout off the menu, as it was my favorite item. That reduced the seafood choices to a disappointing level. Today I had the rotisserie chicken with French fries and a side salad. The chicken was spiced well and tasted good but the white meat part was on the dry side. The French fries were absolutely amazing and the salad was good. I did have a quite good dessert. The sweet potato donuts were fresh and hot and tasted great. Have seen this Peruvian restaurant a few times, but stopped by for the first time. Upon entering, there is a chalk board with some recommended menu items. Thought the board was nicely decorated. Ordered the ceviche sampler because the photos on Yelp looked great. Unfortunately, we had less to sample than the past posted photos on Yelp. Their ceviche had pretty interesting flavors. This sampler was pretty enjoyable to eat. I didn't quite like their paella; it was a bit dry and bland. I think the rice should have been cooked for a little longer. Great cantina-style spot for Pacifica beach-gazing! Right across from the beach, the view is absolutely dreamy. This is a fun, feel-good place to enjoy Peruvian food and Pisco Sours in sleepy Pacifica. I'd come here on a date, by myself (and sit at the bar), with my family, or with a group of friends. It's just that kinda place. Pure fun ambiance with no pretension. With that being said, I really can't say that anything really stood out food-wise. I want to support local Pacifica businesses, but have tried Puerto 27 a few times, and I'm now done trying. Food is ok at best, and this last order was really not good: Roast chicken that was dry throughout, and worst of all: Mussels that smelled and tasted like a public bathroom (!) were truly disgusting. I've been coming here for years and it feels like the quality of the food has declined. The Pisco sours are still amazing. We ordered the yucca fries. It was four little pieces of yucca with a tablespoon of the dipping sauce on a very sad plate (see picture). Please put effort into how you serve your dishes. It makes different. The ceviche is fabulous, but why do you have to order a side of plantain chips in order to complete the dish? They always try to sell you the plantain chips, because the dish doesn't taste right without them. For $20 throw in a few pieces of fried banana please. We have always loved the lomo saltado. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it seems like they use a lower quality meat and it can be chewy. The ambience of this place is lovely. Great view, decent service, okay food. My SO and I stopped in to grab some food on our drive back to the city, saw that this place has some pretty awesome views so decided to stop in. They had a happy hour, so we decided to grab some bites. The food was quite Americanized, and just decent, nothing special. The calamari was a little rubbery (and not really crispy at all), and the Ceviche was just odd (I think they put fried corn in it?). Service was decent, the bartenders were super nice, but the hostesses ignored us when we first walked in, but I guess it could just be because it was happy hour. We made reservations and we were seated outside . Table was wobbly with no where to put my purse except the floor .we asked to sit at a table closer to where there was a ledge to put my purse and not wobbly . Server said he would switch us to where another couple was finishing . We tipped him for the inconvenience of moving us. We patiently waited and when the host came he tried to sit someone else there. We politely told him we were waiting for that table and he sat them there anyways and directed us to wait for a different table. When finally sat The view was nice but would have been better if the glass that we looked through was clean. The food on the other hand was nothing special and lacked flavor. The flavor mostly came from the sauces. I came to this place as it just opened & I had the ceviche sampler. It was so amazing that I waited for people to look away, so I could drink the juice. I've now been back so many years later, & the ceviche sampler quality has gone down hill. From a 4 course sampler to a 3 course sampler & $10 more. What my friend got was the Aji de Gallina which is an amazing stew with the Aji cream sauce. This is what I'll get from now on. Restaurants with a "view" are SO overrated. Why waste $100, $200, or $300 for dinner when you can just go to a club and pay a small cover fee to see an international buffet of "picturesque" views of peeks, mountains, or camel toes (hello crass Mondays!). Just three months young, Puerto 27 comes from the Fresca and Pasion family. I'm not a fan of either but after reading Bauer's recommendation of Puerto 27 and all the glowing reviews on Yelp, I thought it may be a good, more affordable contender to La Mar in SF (my review: http://bit.ly/19EaooR). Ugh. Not even close. While Puerto 27's prices are reasonable and they use good quality ingredients, the food (more seafood centric) was terrible and sloppily executed. It's obvious that some of the 5 star reviews were written purely to increase the overall ratings which is very misleading to those who may simply look at that and not take the time to read through the reviews. I just reread Cherylynn's review before starting mine and caught the part about sitting next to our dear departed (on Yelp that is) buddy Owen M. Funny, I just invoked his name in the review I did yesterday for Surf Spot. (Owen come back!) Well we were not so lucky with who was seated in our neighborhood. I swear, I'm jinxed lately, first the table from hell at Chez Panisse, and then its coastal twin here at Puerto. Well, they weren't quite as awful, but one woman had a laugh that could have been used in place of waterboarding to get confessions. That combined with the tendency for this place to amplify sound, made conversation almost impossible. We were treated to one of those incredible, clear evenings we've been having lately on the coast. I let my inland dinner companion watch the sunset, since I'm spoiled by having this view out my living room. We started with a classic pisco sour for me and an El Original for my pal. Hers was lovely and tasty, but nothing like the foamy tastiness of a well made pisco sour. While we slowly worked through our drinks, we shared a Causa Masaki. It was quite attractively presented. I was sure the little vermillion shards on top were saffron, but no! crispy tiny deep fried yams. The mash had good texture, but for $14, I think they could have been more generous with the money ingredients (barely any crab or avocado). I liked the heat in the aioli. We followed with the Jalea Mixta (small)... basically the Peruvian version of a frito misto. The portion was very generous, although a little more of the well balanced tartar sauce would have been nice. One last small plate, Chicharron de Pollo. I guess the "salsa criolla" is like a salsa crudo. It was just basically sliced red onions and a very tasty orange colored (scared at first that it might be habanero!) pepper. The little fried boneless chicken thighs were tasty and very similar to Japanese karage. It would have benefitted from some kind of dipping sauce. The aioli that came with the causa would have been good! What can I say, I'm a sauce person. Then we each had a dish of our own. I had Parihuela, which I would liken to Peruvian cioppino. The seafood in it was a little overcooked. I liked the smoky earthy tones in the sauce, but it was over seasoned for me, just too pungent. My friend had the Choritos, which were thankfully more mussels than sausage, and although it claimed to be spicy, it was actually quite mild and creamy, with a sort of curry like note to it. Total food, drinks, w/o tax or tip seemed very reasonable at $79. I wanted to do the ceviche, but my friend is not a ceviche kind of gal, and since we planned to share so much of the meal, I decided to save that for the next visit. I will be back to explore more. Wish there were some vegetable small plates or sides available other than one lonely green salad. Our server, Luta, was great, and checked back with us. Trading out of plates and utensils can be tricky in small plate places. I think everything should be changed every time. The busser sometimes just changed plates, sometimes just cutlery, sometimes just wiped our drips up without changing anything. The hostess greeted us right away & she took us to the most beautiful seat with an astonishing view, my man and I like to sit together so she even turned the table sideways to accommodate us. Our waitress Luisa immediately brought waters to the table and walked us through the menu. She recommended that we try the civeche sampler where you get a choice of 3 different kinds, we went with her recommendations and they all had a different flavors ranging from (spicy)Civche Clasico to (sweet)Civche Alianza Lima & (salty)Civiche Chifa, all of them were equally phenomenal. We also had the clam chowder which was rich and creamy with nice big chunks of clams and potatoes. Our main dish was the Choritos which was filled to the top with mussels the sauce was seasoned just right with onions and sausage. We washed it down with both Mocktails on the menu one was coconut flavored and the other was Sweet. The coconut one was the better of the two. For desert we has Alfajores which are 3 cookies filled with this butterscotch stuff and served with vanilla ice cream & a strawberry filled with a lychee paste. Let's start with the good. The Pisco Sour is on point!!! Loved it so much we had 2 each. So cute with the number 27 on top of the egg white foam. Now the not so good. Food was just ok. Wanted to love it but was underwhelmed . The avocado crabwich had way too much lettuce, paella was meh. Same with the yuca fries.... don't get me started on the chorizo mussel appetizer.
