    Swirl Pitcher
    Amanda J.

This is definitely my new favorite Mexican places to go too! We have been wanting to try it for quite some time now but hadn't had the opportunity and I can't honestly say we have now been 3 times in two weeks lol Their Swirl margaritas are definitely one of my favs in the City and they awesome prides on their pitchers. Homemade Salsa (you heard that right) has great flavor and isn't super chunky which I prefer. Chips are thin and crispy and queso is smooth and creamy, not runny like a lot of other places. I've had the mini chimichangas which comes with 2 chicken and 2 beef, and rice. I will say I wasn't a huge fan of this, the chicken were on the dryer side and the beef lacked flavor. I also got a side of refried beans which I also didn't love. The following week I got the Puerco Asado which was so good!! Pork fried crispy on the outside, mojo sauce, white rice and black beans. I will definitely be getting this again. My husband got the Steak chimichurri - which came with a huge piece of flank steak, I almost couldn't believe it. It was also really good, but I've definitely had better, but definitely not complaining. I highly recommend checking this place out!!

This was my first visit to Tres Amigos and I'm sure I'll be back again. Service always very attentive and margaritas were tasty! And the food did not disappoint! Great happy hour spot.

We are staying in the Louisville area and was looking for an eatery near our hotel. Luckily we discovered Tres Amigos. All the food was delicious and very fresh tasting. The margaritas were also great. Service was on point. We will definitely be back!

    Fiesta fajitas. Small portions

The restaurant is clean, well lit and maintained. Staff were well turned out and polite. There was a small language issue with my waitress. Probably because I learned Spanish in Miami and Cuban Spanish sometimes doesn't transfer... regardless we got thru it. The salsa and chips was good but served in a ridiculously small bowl. Salsa was pretty heavy with raw onions... entree was fiesta fajitas. Flavor was good. It was well cooked and seasoned. That's the good. The portion size was very small for the money, I mean I stopped at subway on the way home small. For $19 I expected much more. As far as value I did not feel I got great value for my money. The dish was priced comparable to other Mexican restaurants in the area just smaller.

Happy hour sangria tastes like booze infused grape jam. Delicious!

My first visit to Tres Amigos pulled out all the stops - attentive service, delicious dishes (that chimichurri!), delightful happy hour cocktails, and a beautiful space. What's not to like here? The jammy red sangria was a sleeper hit, I would definitely order again. Their portions are large and the menu is diverse, with Cuban and Tex Mex influences incorporated into what I think of as more foundational Mexican restaurant offerings. Tres Amigos in my mind fills that spot between basic American Mexican franchised restaurants and the high end, more expensive players in town. Their prices are reasonable and as a patron you walk away feeling like you had a VIP experience - the best service, the best food, the best libations they had to offer came your way. I'm looking forward to coming back and bringing friends.

Ground beef tacos; chips and bland salsa.

In my quest for Mexican food in Kentucky, I stopped into Tres Amigos based on some good reviews I read here. There was nothing bad about the food, it's just not all that great, either. The chips are good and the flavor of the salsa is decent but it's very mild. I ordered simple hard shell tacos and the taco shells are not homemade; they seem like store bought Ortega shells or something and the seasoning on the ground beef tastes a little pickled. Weird. They're not horrible but I don't think I'd come again as I've discovered some other pretty decent Mexican food places I would definitely return to. The staff is super nice and the service is good. The restaurant is also cute. Just "meh" on the food!

Ordered 2 dishes, some taco's (Taco Tuesday $2.99/taco), and Queso con chorizo. When I opened the carry out bag I thought they gave us the wrong order. The containers for the meals were huge, they looked like a catering order. The food was pretty good, would order again!

    Lunch Burrito California

We have been waiting for this place to open for a very long time. Just found out they opened last week, so we rushed over for lunch. Handed several menus which seemed confusing at first, but there was a lunch, aka cart, and alcohol menu. Had the lunch California Burrito. This thing was huge and good. Highly recommend. Also chips and salsa were great.

I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

When we arrived we had a brief wait before we checked in, and were seated on the second level. Our server was excellent, our service was quick and he was always around without hovering. It was bitter cold outside so instead of my usual margarita ($14+) I opted for a beer ($6). We started with the salsa trio, one of my favorites with handmade assorted chips. It includes three salsas, somewhat spicy, sweet tomato and tomatillo - the spicy and sweet were my favorites. Next we ordered the tacos el carbon and carbon burrito - pricing is expensive! We both ordered our steaks medium rare. My tacos had a beautiful presentation, the meat came out on a skewer and smoking from the hot coals. All toppings were repeated on the plate. The steak was overcooked and tough though. Had a nice smoke to it, but very chewy. My husband enjoyed his burrito but wasn't the best he's ever had. They also had a mariachi band walk around but they had "tips" all over their instruments and clothes. Overall we had a nice meal but the price point doesn't equal the food quality.

If someone had told me a few years ago that one of the most culturally immersive, electrifying, and…read moreculinary-forward ethnic dining experiences in the United States would be found in Louisville, Kentucky, I might have been highly skeptical. But La Bodeguita De Mima (at 725 E Market St) completely shatters any preconceptions. Chefs Fernando and Yaniel Martinez have created more than just a restaurant; they have built a lasting highlight to Cuba that captivates from the moment you approach the building. The ambiance here is an absolute masterclass in restaurant design. The exterior--painted in eye-catching, vibrant tropical hues--hints at the escape inside. The moment you walk in, you are instantly transported back in time to 1950s Havana. The air is thick with the rich, intoxicating aromas of garlic, citrus, and roasting pork, underscored by the lively rhythms of classic salsa music. The Appetizers (Aperitivos): We kicked off the meal with the Papas Rellenas and Empanadas Cubanas. The papas--crispy, golden-breaded potato balls stuffed with a savory, deeply seasoned beef picadillo--were perfect. When paired with the house cilantro aioli, it's pure magic. The empanadas feature a remarkably flaky crust packed with perfectly spiced filling that sets a benchmark for what Latin street food can elevate to when handled by master chefs. The Main Course (Fuertes): For the entrees, the Lechón Asado is mandatory. As the undisputed king of Cuban pork, this dish features marinated, incredibly tender, slow-roasted pork that melts in your mouth, brightened by a sharp, garlicky mojo sauce. It is served alongside exceptional congris (black beans and rice cooked together) and sweet, caramelized maduros (fried plantains). We also tried the Ropa Vieja, a flawlessly executed Cuban classic of braised, shredded beef simmered in a rich tomato-wine sauce with sweet peppers and onions. The balance of acidity, savory depth, and melt-in-your-mouth texture was a triumph. The Drinks & Dessert: You cannot leave without ordering a cocktail. Their Mojito is easily the best in the city--crisp, perfectly muddled, and dangerously refreshing. To close out the night, we ordered the Habano de Chocolate, a stunningly creative dessert shaped exactly like a Cuban cigar, complete with an almond cake and Nutella core, served alongside a flawless, velvety Café Cubano (espresso shot). La Bodeguita De Mima honors the soul of Cuban home cooking while presenting it in a world-class, vibrant venue. For those searching for authentic, high-quality ethnic food, impeccable hospitality, and an unforgettable atmosphere in Louisville, look no further. Mima's house is open, and you absolutely need to visit. We will return; it is a must-stop.

I believe it used to be a different restaurant and what time however I decided to try the Peruvian menu today so it's lunchtime, but I was given the option to utilize the larger full menu, so I got some fried fish which came with a salad and some rice on the side. The rice was plain white rice. The salad was some lettuce and tomato with a nice light vinaigrette. It was really delicious and my fish was cooked to perfection. It was a fillet and it was fried with some different spices and lightly battered it was absolutely perfect sweet/juicy easy to delightful so after I finished my salad and my fish, I was left with this large bleed over rice and I just didn't know what to do with it so I asked for a serving of beans on the side and I got the pinto beans and they were nicely flavored with the some queso and they had run it under the broiler to mop the cheese. It was delicious it rounded out my meal, and I will tell you that haven't eaten that whole plate. I left no crumbs. It it did not leave me over full and I ordered flan for dessert and the flan is beautiful and creamy with custard with a dollar above whipped cream and a cherry on top the caramel sauce at the bottom is really, really beautiful. It has a light caramelized flavor from the sugar melting with the phlegm the flan itself it wasn't bad. It was OK a little egg but sometimes that does happen or rather the dessert is really nice. This is a place that I would come back to and also bring my family for a family meal in the restaurant is large and inviting. It's good for a night out with a friends and your family and here I am on my solo journey for food and it works for me too so when you have an opportunity come on down and try this place out my server was amazing. She was so sweet and she put up with my limited Spanish use and she did come and check on me periodically she didn't hover, but she didn't just leave me to be looking around for somebody to help me either so that was a good balance even when she started to get busy with more customers coming in like I said come down and try this restaurant out. It's really nice the atmosphere is very very nice. They didn't have pictures of the other food because I was so hungry and I ate every last thing on my plate
