A wonderful addition to Mainstreet! Located right next to the Newhall Bike Shop, Pulchella is a modern, simple, intimate space to do a little wine tasting. It was $10 to taste, but that's waived with a wine purchase. They've also got some good deals on yelp/spreebird/groupon, so keep your eyes peeled. My girlfriends and I showed up on a Tuesday night for a Girls Night Out and at 8pm, we had the place to ourselves! The manager, Jeff, was full of information and great to chat with. The grapes are grown in Paso Robles. They've got more reds than whites, which suits me just fine. Their Everyday red was a great value and I thought the Tempranillo was special. As far as food goes, they only serve crackers and water, but they encourage you to bring your own. I'd recommend swinging by Maria's deli or Trader Joe's and grabbing some sausage/cheese/hummus. Anyhow, the whole experience made my Tuesday night way more extravagant than it could have been. I'll be returning for some more fun nights out! read more

We have returned to Pulchella many times since my first review, and have now joined the wine club. The wines are uniformly good, solid table wines. They tend to be "big" wines, no matter the varietal. Every time I go, it seems I pick a different one as my favorite of the night. The owners, Steve and Nate, are super-nice, hardworking people who are passionate about wine. Their wives work the tasting room on occasion, and are equally passionate. Joey, who has poured for us a lot recently, is also knowledgeable about wine and food. With the Refinery open across the street, you can now order food from the Refinery and bring it into the Pulchella tasting room. (For a while, the Refinery would actually deliver it to you, but they stopped.) As much as I love the Refinery's food, I have hearing problems, and can't stand the noise level of the restaurant, so getting Refinery food in Pulchella's more civilized atmosphere is the perfect compromise. (What do you call a compromise that is better than the original choice?) A word about the wine for my fellow wine snobs: I've been to dozens, perhaps over 100 wineries. My very favorite - A. Rafanelli, Sagebrush Annie - produce very refined wines that are complex and subtle. I usually save them for special occasions. My next tier - Trentadue, Hug, and now Pulchella - are excellent wines that are more for regular consuming. You can save them for special occasions, but why wait? This is NOT a back-handed compliment! Sometimes (most of the time) you want to open a bottle that you KNOW will be good, that you can enjoy without having to think about it. read more

This is an actual wine tasting room. Not a restaurant. The owners are very nice, and give a great wine tasting experience. But if you thought that you would have food here, think twice. They, however, don't prevent you from bringing in your own food. The place is relatively small with seating for about 15-20 comfortably. The wines were good. I even bought a bottle and will likely join the wine club. The service was excellent -- by the owners. Very informative. read more

I've been here on four different occasions and always had amazing service. The wine is great too. Our most recent experience was last week. We put together a bridal shower on a Thursday night. The owner was super sweet and went above and beyond to make sure we were all set. -OUTSIDE FOOD IS ALLOWED. You can bring outside food. Newhall Refinery is across the street and you can order from them and eat it at Puchella. -NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS-we were allowed to bring non-alcoholic wine for our pregnant friend. -OUTDOOR PATIO is really cute and private. This place was a nice surprise to find while driving through downtown Newhall on a Sunday afternoon. Once you step through the door, you instantly feel like you're at a tasting room in the heart of wine country. Pretty cool that they source all their grapes from Paso Robles and then make it all on site here. I have learned to not typically expect much from tasting rooms and wineries in non traditional areas, but this place blows away that stereotype. Each of the four wines in the flight were delicious, and I had to take home a bottle of the 2015 Gathering, which was my favorite. Also got to try the 2015 City Slicker, another solid offering. My wife says I already have too many wine clubs, but I may have to make room for one more in the future just because the wine here is so good. read more

Newhall has an AVA? Not! They use grapes from Paso Robles. Whew. As with most grapes from Paso, the emphasis was correctly placed on Rhone red varietals. The best part of the wines was the nose. The body had less flavor than the nose and quickly diminished on the palate which created an extremely short finish. The small and comfortable tasting room is a nice option to have for those in Santa Clarita, but old town Newhall nightlife doesn't offer much else. At least it's different than spending another sad suburban evening at the Valencia Town Center. Check their tasting room hours carefully because they are open three nights a week. read more
