best. Vindaloo. ever. It could've been the generic name or because it was the only Indian delivering until after 9. Or it could've been the person who took my order that was YELLING AND KEPT YELLING UNTIL WE HUNG UP but I really wasn't expecting much. 30 or so minutes later, the food comes and I am IMMEDIATELY taken in by the smell. Vindaloo + garlic na'an + the deep fry scent of samosas (insert heart shaped eyes here). As twisted as this sounds, if I can bottle up this scent, I would keep it with my perfumes and take a whiff just to get a momentary curry high. And when I finally unpacked everything, it was heaven. PURE heaven. Seriously, the vindaloo, na'an, and samosas here beat all the ones I've had before. I still dream of Punjab Palace. Would note that the "spicy" was closer to "medium", and medium wasn't spicy at all. Would rate each part as: Lassi - 10/10 Korma (ignoring the spice part) - 8/10, creamy and tender with pretty good flavor Rice - 5/10, might be fine normally but ours was kind of stale and not fluffy Naan - 3/10, not sure if they changed the recipe or what but it didn't look like pictures and didn't taste very garlicky. I've never had a dine-in experience here since I have no friends which mean I have to just grubhub my food; I'm not complaining though, since their service is insanely efficient My food was ready within 15 minutes of ordering online! I'm always very satisfy and full after my orders, good for at least 2 meals. This is the place to go if you don't know how Indian food should be cooked or made. If you are Desi, this is not the place for you. They are clean and friendly but pretty much everything in here has a very strong tomato base with a lot of food coloring to make it look appetizing. I do like the chai here but that's about it. I've never been to India, but I wager that the crowd found in Punjab Palace is akin (in number) to that found in any veritable whole-in-the-wall comfort food joint straddling the Indo-Pakistan border. The food here is simply amazing. It's served on metal trays for added authenticity. The menu is as long as the dead sea scrolls, and after ordering, you're given a number which is shouted out 30 minutes later alerting you that your meal is ready. If you happen to wait upstairs where you'd be woe to hear anything but the dim rumble of chatter on the lower floor, you might find yourself scrambling downstairs just as you hear that your order will be tossed lest you show up immediately. The eggplant main dish is something like scrambled creamy eggplant - the texture of baby food, but much more enticing. It's served with some pickled peppers, a mound of pipping, soft, sweet Indian rice, na'an as large, warm, and fluffy as a loaf of Wonderbread, and some Indian yogurt to neutralize your palate. The chicken tikki is simmered in a creamy red sauce that's succulent enough and permeating enough to allow chicken a texture similar to slow cooked ribs. I stopped here because I need to try other places besides India Quality! We ordered the lamb vindaloo, goat korma, pashwari nan and coconut soup. Lamb was excellent! Less meat than I was expecting but the sauce was spot on. We ordered it extra spicy but it wasn't spicy at all :(. The goat korma was good but slightly less delicious than others I've had. Definitely a good portion of meat. Also not spicy. The coconut soup was thin and quite average. Would not recommend. The nan wasn't fluffy but we ordered pick up so it's usually better in the restaurant. Will try again! I hope my next visit is better! read more

I didn't have any authentic India food before(or maybe I did but I didn't know). But the India food here taste pretty special to me. I got lamb curry with hot spivy and I loved it! It's actually pretty spicy which proved itself as a good South Asian food. The lamb is so well cooked. It's tender and it's own flavor was not disrupted by the spiciness of the curry. read more

My husband and I have been searching for a good Indian restaurant since moving here from Texas. We stumbled across Punjab Palace and were very satisfied. The vegetarian samosas were well seasoned and decently sized. The chicken tikka masala was very creamy and delicious. The chicken vindaloo was very good, but even though I ordered medium, I still couldn't feel my lips after the meal because it was so spicy. My husband's chicken tikka masala (which he ordered spicy) was nothing compared to my chicken vindaloo. For the items above and two extra orders of naan, we were surprised to only spend $40! We were sooo stuffed and think this is a great deal for the money because the portions are very decent. read more

I've used these folks to deliver lunch at my biotech company... for mass produced Indian, they actually pour on some heat and spices. The chicken was very good and not just cooked cubes tossed on a sauce. It's actual tandoori that is basted. A very good option for your next company lunch and learn. read more

The best delivery Indian you can get. I often order-in for Indian and had been searching for a decent place that was inexpensive, so I was overwhelmed to find such a tasty place available from my online app ordering services. The bases/sauces are always rich and savory. The proteins and bread are skillfully cooked, neither over nor under done. You can tell they take pride in their work with plenty of time and attention. For delivery, this is amazing. Their long selection of dishes is also unmatched in neighboring restaurants. They have been running specials for months and keep remaining less expensive than their more generic-tasting peers, on top of it all. While I cannot speak to their restaurant's appearance and I have certainly had better Indian food near India, this is as good as it gets for the Boston area since Tamarind Bay has gone out of business. I usually get takeout from here instead of sitting on the restaurant. There are a couple reasons but the main one is that it's really easy to order on yelp and eat it at home/at a friends place. I think Punjab palace has some of the best Indian food in the city. If I want Indian food this is the first place I think of. It's not expensive, the food is genuinely good, and you know what you're getting when you order. With other places in Boston it just doesn't taste as good or the prices are ridiculous. I ordered delivery through the caviar app because they had a good deal going. Food was delicious and great portion sizes! My favorite was the aloo ghobi! We also ordered saag paneer, tofu vegetable curry (I'm forgetting the exact name), samosa, and vegetable pakora. We ordered garlic naan too it didn't have at much garlic as I would have liked - maybe they gave us regular naan by accident? This is my favorite Indian takeout place for GrubHub delivery... fast and flavorful! I had the chicken tikka Marsala, and paid a little extra for all white meat, Which is totally worth the two bucks. The garlic naan bread arrived soft, warm and mouth watering, full of moist, spicy garlic. My friend had the curry, done mild, which I found almost flavorless. Punjab Palace is one of our go-to spots for Indian night. We typically order samosas, tikka masala, and an order of Saag Paneer. All of them are out of this world! The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star rating, is that they could be a little cheaper (but I guess price is what you pay, value is what you get). We'll keep coming back, that's for sure! read more

No doubt about the service, it's super good there. I must have had my water filled about 5 times tonight. I mean...this place is nice, but it's not the best I've had. I've been to a few Indian places in San Francisco, and they were a lot better...even the Indian place in Super 88 is better for me. For the price/quantity of the Chicken Tikka Masala with a Naan at Punjab Palace, I could have gotten cheaper and tastier at Super 88. Perhaps it's just me...I mean...I'm a weirdo and I also don't like spicy foods. I really like the environment though...very classy looking...it's just too bad I came in wearing a sweat shirt, tights, and uggs--top that off with some lovely bed hair. Nothing about Punjab Palace disappointed, but it lacked the 'wow" factor of The Kebob Factory in Inman Sq, still my favorite Indian restaurant in Boston. The Coconut Soup was delicious and sweet, reminded me a lot of Chinese taro soup with tapioca pearls. The Pashwari Naan (with coconut, raisins and honey) was absolutely amazing. Hot, crisp and sweet. I got my Chicken Tikka Masala as spicy as possible and it arrived a shade of red not found in nature. It had a bit of a kick at the beginning but then lost its spiciness. Either they didn't believe me when I said I could handle spice--the waiter did raise an eyebrow and regard me skeptically--or this is as spicy as it gets. I was slightly disappointed. The chicken was okay, not the most tender I've had and the sauce lacked flavor. The boyfriend's Coconut Korma was more satisfying, though it had zero spice. It just felt more filling. Oh, and the Lassi Sweet was interesting. Tasted kind of like yogurt. Get it if you like that kind of flavor. If I'm in the area and feel like Indian, I'd probably give this place another try and order more exotic items, but otherwise, I don't think I'd make the trek over. read more

We decided to try this place as it was highly rated on Yelp. It's a small dining room and their main business seems to be carry-out. We waited for about 20mim before being seated. There is no separate waiting area. We preordered our food as we were waiting for a table. The food arrived in the expected time but was really bland and had zero flavor or taste. The info-Chinese dishes, Chilli Paneer and Chilli-chicken were the worst. Flavorless sweetish gravy with overcooked chicken. The lassi was store-bought and not made. A shame since it carries the name of a state in India that is famed for its absolutely wonderful food. The waiter was courteous and efficient, which was a saving grace. Our order (every time): - Vegetable samosas - these and the onion bhaji (fritters) are my favorite appetizer - Chicken tikka masala - your staple chicken in tomato-based sauce. Theirs is thicker and way better than your average. As to the bright red color and the comment by the person who wrote that the color of the food was "not appropriate," it clearly is due to the seasoning they use, probably a red tandoori. - Navratan korma - best veggie dish. Broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, peppers, almonds, raisins, and paneer in a creamy sauce. - Baingan bharta - theirs has peas and green peppers in it, which give it texture. It is also less smokey than most places, which I like. - Lamb saag - Plain naan - Mango lassi They always ask how you like each of your dishes. "Medium" to "spicy" is the way to go. read more

In addition I ordered garlic naan ended up having normal roti. I went there earlier and it turned out so good and then decided to go again! That was the biggest mistake. We ordered here 3 minutes before they were going to close. We used to be big big customers at their "sister" restaurant, India Quality (or I think it is related). I politely asked if it was too late to order. The guy kind of teased me in a very polite way about being last minute. After we joked around for a minute he went to talk to someone, came back and took our order. He even said he was dropping it off on his way home! Gosh. I love these people. We were and just got in from a long trip so it really was awesome. We TRIED to call Rangoli first actually to get delivery but they opted out. Anyway... We ordered the vegetarian appetizer platter. Hm. Not as good as India Quality.... tasted re-heated in a microwave--- but I was expecting that so late at night to be honest. If I order again and they're fresher next time I'm giving them 5 stars instead of 4. I ordered Malai Kofta, which is log shaped vegetable and cheese "balls" with a dense, tender dumpling kind of texture. It was in a creamy sauce that seemed like Korma. I loved it. It was yummy, the flavors stood out, the "balls" were delicious and it was awesome. I asked for it Mild and it was perfect. We also ordered Chicken Manchurian... which to be frank was a risky move since the description made it seem almost asian in nature: white meat chicken cooked with garlic, ginger, tomatoes, soy sauce, corn starch and spices. Upon smelling it, it seemed like it could be an indian version of general Gao's chicken, but... thankfully it really wasn't sweet at all. The person who ordered it wanted it spicy and it WAS! They loved it and would order it again. Definitely not typical indian fare but not asian really either. We also got Chicken Tikka, it was good. A bit heavy on the seasoning, which I personally would have liked, but we ordered it lightly seasoned for the person it was for and he thought it was still rather heavy. Also it was clearly not that fresh--- again our fault. Finally we finished up with some poori. It was supposed to be coconut poori but I couldn't taste it at all. It was really really dense and also didn't taste fresh. It was truly disappointing, but I'm hoping next time its better. And again, if so, 5 stars. The nan was delicious and generously portioned out. We also ordered to bottles of soda which arrived cold and refreshing. All in all, aside from some freshness issues, which I can't help but reiterate, were our fault for ordering at the last minute and ordering fried items without thinking... it was scrumptious and we can't wait to try more unique things on their menu like that chicken manchurian. For any vegetarian, the malai kofta is a nice change from the usual "mixed" veggies thrown into whatever sauce your ordering. But note, if you are vegan you'll have to skip it since has cheese in the balls and cream in the sauce. GREAT TIKKA MASALA! I go almost monthly to eat tikka masala here since it's so close - the waiters are so nice and they refill the water every time its more than half full. However, I ordered delivery once and ordered saag and tandoori chicken with plain naan. The saag paneer was really good: I love the bits cheese in your mouth buried into the spinach curry. Its my second-favorite to tikka masala. The tandoori chicken was REALLY dry to the point where the chicken had no taste. The delivery came really fast, but I would suggest against the tandoori chicken. India Quality would be a better option if you like more authentic Indian food. read more

The chicken tikka masala here is 5-star good, as is the basmati rice. A go-to place for me to order delivery when I have a craving for some delicious Indian food. Vegetable pakora has some kick to it but is a bit dry as an appetizer or side option, though I do highly recommend the vegetable samosas. I will absolutely order from here again and perhaps try a few other options that look really good (chicken curry, garlic nan, onion bhaji, chicken pakora), but you can't go wrong with their chicken tikka masala (I've gotten medium and it's not too spicy at all). Was feeling something other than seafood today so I decided to check out the Indian Food in Boston. Ordered a Mango Lassi that was delicious and hit the spot on a warm summer day. My naan, rice, and chicken saag came out to around $12 and could have fed two people instead of one with leftovers for the next day. Not quite as sweet saag as I expected or have had in the past, but the service was good and so was the food. Only suggestion to any manager reading this would be for more communication on the floor, I was asked for my order, told the waiter I needed more time, and not 30 seconds later a different waiter asking me the same thing. Also I used the restroom before I left and when I came back to get my to go bag and glasses my place was being cleared. Not terrible, but also not very professional. This is probably my favorite Indian place to eat at or to get takeout from. They give you these chips and 3 different types of chutney and they all have distinct yummy tastes! (They include this in takeout, which is awesome) Chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and naan are my go-to's. If you like cilantro and loads of garlic, go for the garlic naan (I can't do cilantro, so this was a no-go for me). The chicken tikka masala is so creamy and when you ask for spicy, they really know how to turn up the heat!! So GOOD! The place is adorable and comfortable. Consistently well-prepared dishes with excellent service. You will always get the fresh and perfectly spicy chutney to place generously on papadum (thin cracker). Punjab Palace displays a wide variety of flavorful sauces, including the traditional masala, korma, and curry. Recommend trying a few dishes medium and at least one dish hot. Usually this reviewer prefers a protein other than chicken, but Punjab Palace cooks it very tender, including of course, in the tandoori style without drying out. The chicken curry (with onions and tomatoes in a thinner sauce) and the chicken kadhai (with onions, peppers, and mushrooms in a creamier sauce) are stand-outs. The saag is heavier on the spinach and less creamy than elsewhere, while the dal (lentil) provides an even blend of vegetable and sauce. The chicken channa masala, although on the less adventurous side, is delicious in a creamy tomato sauce with tandoori chicken and chickpeas. Prefer this dish hot. The lamb bhuna, a similar style to the curry, provides generous hearty chunks of lamb. Tried many dishes at Punjab Palace, you can't go wrong with any of them. Recommend trying dishes with contrasting sauces. And you always get a cold Andes mint when you are done! read more

I'm surprised by how many Indian places in Boston are striking out and while I don't want to give negative reviews I must be honest. This place was a neat and surprisingly pleasant modern-Indian restaurant on the inside, however I was taking food to go. I ordered chicken korma and garlic naan. At $4 the naan was the worst I've had yet in Boston. It was very soft rather than crispy and didn't have a fragrant aroma or any coriander or seasoning that I could tell on the outside. The Korma had only cheap dark meat, which I don't consider a fair deal at $15. Also, not particularly flavorful for Punjabi Indian and hard to say if there were any nuts in the sauce. definitely no coconut or almonds which go well in korma read more
