Yummy, yummy Indian food-- I can't claim a discerning palate, but I can claim a happy stomach. I ate here with friends a few weeks ago, and have also ordered to-go from GrubHub twice. All times I have been pleased with my order. Chicken chana masala twice and chicken tikka masala: Both equally good. I get medium spiciness, which barely makes my tongue smart- if you like spicy, go for the full shebang. Vegetarian Platter (appetizer): My friend ordered this and was presented with a plate of various fried brown things (samosas etc). I don't know what she was expecting, but in this case "vegetarian" certainly did not equal "healthy." Waiters are lovely and atmosphere is pleasant. So I just tried them with ubereats so can't comment on the interior or service. However the food was delicious. Not wanting to cook on a week night, I resorted to ordering from ubereats. The delivery was 3 dollars which is really not that bad and it arrived faster than projected time. As for the food, I had tika masala with rice, onion naan, samosa, rice pudding(kheer?). I choose spicy for tika, and I was literally crying but it was so delicious! They send it in a plastic container with a ton of sauce. Rice came in Chinese take out box which was nothing special and not bad either. The samosas are gigantic but they were pretty cold which was disappointing but the filling was very generous. I felt adventurous and tried the onion naan which was perfect. Perfect smell of being cooked on fire or some kind of wooden oven. One side of the ma'am was burned a bit but the other half was enough to satisfy my craving for a good naan. And lastly, the rice pudding (khreer) did not disappoint. I was surprised that it is liquid as something similar in Turkish is pretty solid and it didn't have as much dried fruits as I wished it did. However, I liked the taste and would get it again. It is not super sweet, so it is a pretty healthy option if u crave for something sweet. Indian food is not always great, but this place definitely wins my heart and my 4 stars. Three star and a half. The taste of food is five star. Goat curry is still my favorite, because bones come with the meat. In this case, tendon sticks with the meat and make the meat very chewy and delicious. The deficiency of this place is that the service is poor. The server did not mention that one of our dishes come with a nah so that we ordered an extra one. Moreover, while preparing the forks, spoons and knives, the server dropped one of the spoons on the floor and never brought back a new one. read more

There was some slight leakage from the chicken tikka (hole in bottom of the container), but I was a minor inconvenience. I highly recommend this place. I've been craving Indian food for weeks so when we didn't have concrete dinner plans, I gave in, yelped the best/closest place and ordered takeout. THIS FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. I only got chicken tikka masala, vegetable Samosas, basmati rice and naan, but everything was great. Granted, chicken tikka masala is the most basic white girl Indian food and it's hard to mess up, but this was great. Not oily, not dry chicken, just cooked perfectly and tasted great. Parking on the street was tricky, but I ran in and was greeted by like 6 waitors who were all dressed up and checked me out super fast. 3 years into living in Boston, we finally found our favorite Indian restaurant- through takeout! Punjab Palace has become our go-to place for Indian takeout, their food is flavorful, reliable and very reasonably priced. We go for the chicken & paneer tikka masala, saag paneer, chicken korma, samosas. Every entree comes with rice. Do not skip on dessert! The kheer and gulab jamun are staples. Amazingly pathetic food.. An hour ago I ordered chicken madras and bread basket.. The food got delivered and it was a shock to me when I opened it. The bread was all burnt and super oily as if it was deep fried.. I thought, I'll manage but the second shock was waiting in the chicken container; the chicken was not cooked well, most of pieces were raw and every piece had some raw part.. I didn't have the guts to open rice everything went into the dustbin.. I hope the dustbin survives the night.. Lamb coconut korma - pretty good, I ordered mild and got mild. Rice - had these red things in it which was cool but I didn't notice any difference in taste. We ordered the chicken and paneer tikka masala, chicken tikka masala, samosas, a beer, raita and cherry naan. So the cherry naan was amazing, it was so delicious. Tasted like a pancake ! I love this place. I always get the chicken curry, and my boyfriend gets the lamb curry. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food! It's the perfect blend of spices. You get a good portion too. I always have enough leftover for lunch the next day. The prices are good - for two curries and a naan it came to about 35 after tip. I'm surprisingly impressed by their food - everything except paneer! We did a big delivery order from here this weekend for my brother's graduation night. I can't speak for their meat dishes, but their vegetarian items were great! We had saag-paneer, paneer makhni, and alu-chana. The saag and chana were very good! Deliciously amazing. Service was friendly, prompt and we never ran out of water. Delicious goat coconut. Perfectly spiced. The saag paneer was to die for. Not the mushy goupy saag, but a good balance of smooth & creamy and still the flavor and integrity of the spinach intact. The bread basket was HUGE. Portions were more than generous. Their lunch prices are SO low, lower than I'm used to for Indian food. Their chutneys/sauces served alongside the meal are ALL delicious. My favorite is the green-yogurt based one, and the other that is spicy with I think sliced onions in it. So this might freak some people out, but I ordered via Foodler at 9:43 last night and the delivery guy called me at 10:04 to tell me he was at my place with the food. I got the chicken vindaloo and garlic naan...it was EXCELLENT. The food was steaming hot and definitely fresh. Full of flavor, and relatively cheap (although I believe Indian food in general is not that cheap). I will definitely order from this place again for my Indian needs, and update as I work my way through their menu. PS, I got the vindaloo with "medium" spiciness, and it was SPICY. I recently went to this tasty Indian restaurant with my brother on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. We ordered two dishes of the Masala variety. We got the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Masala. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala medium spiced while the Lamb Masala was mildly spiced. Both dishes came with basmati rice. We also decided to get some naan. The cool thing about our dishes was that we got some nice hot, English style tea to drink to warm up from the cold weather. While the tea was not Indian Masala chai, it was decently creamy after putting a little cream in it. I really loved both the Chicken and the Lamb dishes. The Chicken Tikka Masala at medium spice had a pretty good amount of spice to keep me warm. The chicken itself was very tender and not dry, making it probably one of the tastiest chicken meats I've eaten in an Indian restaurant so far. As for the Lamb Masala at mild spice, I did not detect much spiciness, but the meat was also tender, chewy and flavorful. They tasted really good with the basmati rice. As for the naan, it was fresh out of the oven and the Masala sauces were great enough to make the naan tastier. The dishes also came with this small plate filled some sort of cabbage. It had some spice and oil on it, but it was also tasty as well. Bathrooms were really clean, almost like a hotel bathroom. Service was also pretty good. There's a giant flat screen TV that shows some old music videos from India. I think I saw a younger Amitabh Bachchan dancing with an actress in one of the videos. Overall, I thought I had some of the tastiest Indian food in the Boston area so far, and it's a great value if you come here during the weekdays for lunch, the dishes should be under $10. read more

I'm definitely coming back to this place, so will probably edit my review with five stars. Only giving four this time because I came for lunch and don't feel I got a wide enough sample of the menu. You MUST order the pashwari naan. It's a sweet naan with coconut and raisins which I've ordered at countless other restaurants. The coconut is KEY to this wonderful dish -- and at Punjab Palace, it's nearly perfect. Ridiculously fluffy, just the right amount of fruits, and sweetened with honey, I could have solely eaten this for lunch. And at $3.95 for four slices, it's much more filling than it looks = a good deal. I had the lamb coconut korma, and my friend ordered the manchurian chicken (as spicy as possible, so despite my loving spicy food I didn't dare to try it). My lamb was tasty -- very coconut-y flavor, which I loved, and it paired nicely with the basmati rice. However, I think I was pretty full from the naan already so didn't enjoy it as much as I could have on an empty stomach. Tea, coffee, or chai accompanies the lunch, and I ordered chai. It was pretty light and milky, though my friend were pleasantly surprised by how strong their coffee was. Will definitely be back, and probably with more people so we can order more food :) read more

I love that this place has their lunch specials everyday of the week. For around $10, you can get the full meal that includes curry, rice and tea. Plus, they are really fast. We had our food come out less that 10 minutes. The garlic naan is amazing. It's cooked and cut in half. Most of the spices and the garlic pieces are inside. I know multiple people who, after moving out of the area, ended up driving all the way to Allston for Punjab Palace because there is nowhere else with food that compares to this place. My friend and I are lovers of Indian food. I really enjoyed my chicken vindaloo. The waiter asked how spicy and was helpful in helping us determine what spicy level was good for each of us . I am SHOCKED, truly SHOCKED that I have not reviewed PP yet. Ask anyone who knows me, I order from these guys once a week and have not strayed from my order even once. I provide this disclaimer because I can only speak to delivery and chicken tikka masala. I am unfortunately addicted to the chicken tikka masala here. They totally know how to ease a vanilla suburban girl into trying new foods outside of her comfort zone. The chicken is fresh and good quality, the sauce is amazing, and the chutney, oh boy the chutney. The price is super reasonable for the large amount of chicken and rice you get - it usually lasts me several meals. Delivery is fast and the service from the delivery guys is top notch. read more

This place overall was a pretty average Indian restaurant. We got a few appetizers like the pakoras, samosas, and dahi papri. The first two were good, however, the dahi papri was a little disappointing. It came with the yogurt and tamarind sauce mixed together and tossed into the dish. It was very one note and not what I usually get when I order chaat. The flavor of the curries we got could've had more flavor/spice (we got palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, dal makhani, and shahi paneer makhani). Their medium spice level isn't spicy at all. Of the dishes we got though, the shahi paneer makhani was probably the best. We also ordered garlic naan, which wasn't as fluffy and airy as I've had before. I ordered from here for the first time this weekend and absolutely loved it. We ordered the Paneer Vindaloo, Dal Tadka, Vegetable Biryani, and Naan. The quality was great and was a new place for us to try. The only thing I'll say is we weren't sure of the spice level so we went with medium Spicy for the Dal, spicy for the paneer, and spicy for the biryani. The options are pretty true to taste except the Dal was more mild than expected. All in all, I'll definitely be ordering from here again! read more

This is the first Indian restaurant I've ever been to! My half Ethiopian half Indian friend finally took me to an India place. I've always been wanting to go to one since summer or fall. I didn't want to go home early so I was basically just looking for people to hang out with and she came my way. She took her kid to the play area and they finished early so she was gonna pick me up at kenmore but I was running late so I told her to just meet me at the place and I'll just take the train there. After getting out of work I went straight to the place took the train and walked after that. I had to google maps everything since I haven't been to that place too. They were opened on thanksgiving and they were very busy. They have lot of vegetarian choices. We got some type of eggplant stew (vegetarian option) which comes with basmati rice and tastes very good. Also their garlic nan was so good as well as their special dessert called kheer. I will attempt to keep this review short. Pros: I ordered through GrubHub and the food arrived on time. Cons: The food. My order: Garlic naan: It was burnt and had a weird taste. I wasn't sure if it was a burnt garlic taste or raw garlic taste, but it was not good. Chicken Vindaloo: This one tasted okay at best. However, the amount of chicken in the dish was ridiculously small. The dish cost $13. It was mostly giant chunks of potatoes and maybe a drumstick worth of chicken... Chicken Biryani: It had a bit more meat but had absolutely no taste. Overall: GrubHub usually has unreliable ratings but I double checked with Yelp. I don't know what happened to Yelp this time. I felt like I ordered from here in the past and was getting deja vu vibes when i was placing my order...turned out I was right :( I would never order from here in the future. read more

I'm slowly trying to get more and more into Indian food because it's delicious! My friend and I came here after work on a Friday and it was packed. I guess I never released how small the seating area was until we came. We didn't wait long which was nice. We got garlic naan and samosas to share. Both were pretty good. For the main entree, I got the Chicken Tikka Masala which was bomb. The only complaint I have was how long it took to get the food. I get it, it was busy and certain foods take longer to prepare. This place deserves special mention among the many Indian restaurants around Brighton for one, it's authenticity and impeccable service. I have been having food here since the last two years and every time I visit, there's something new in the menu. The food is served promptly and the service is incredible. Coming to the menu, I should say it's extensive. The goat curry is one of my all time favourites here. The mixed seafood masala is the latest in addition and we ordered that along with garlic chicken and cherry nan. The nan is the softest I have ever tasted. Also the food spice level can be modulated based on how well you can handle it and they always make it a point to ask for this when we order the food. The aroma of the food, lip-smacking taste and the wonderful hospitality made our day more special. All in all, I rate it 5/5 and suggest it for every food lover. I think this is actually a 3.5, but there is no option to give that rating here. There is a definite parking issue, so you have to go at a time of day where you're likely to find a spot (very early when they open). Otherwise you will need to double park, park illegally, or find a space a block or two away. The service has always been pretty good. The place is very small, so the wait staff is attentive and it's easy to get their attention when needed. The food is pretty good there, but lacks the flavor or spice of some other Indian restaurants. For example, the naan bread could use a pinch of salt, and the food choices are a bit more bland that I expect. The mango lassie is a bit more bitter and less sweet. The keer lacks the flavor, sweetness and texture I've had elsewhere. The cooking style seems a bit more bland, but still enjoyable anyway. If not for the parking situation, I might go there more for lunch. I do recommend you give it a try at some point. read more
