He told me he's planning on adding Indian ice creams to the menu which I'm super excited about. My favorite so far is Paneer Tikka Masala. It's a perfect mixture of tangy and creamy and really hits the spot. If you're a big eater like myself, I recommend Vegetable Combo ($12 +tax) which includes two entrees, naan, and rice. They obviously opened during a difficult time and are in the Durant Food Court (Asian Ghetto) which caters to 90% students and with classes being online only, a lot of the students didn't move/return to Berkeley this Fall. I was craving a chicken tikka burrito and was so hungry that I was willing to pay $17 for it. I expected a Chipotle-sized thick burrito that I could save for two meals (I have a small appetite). It was good but not worth $17. It was a small-to-average size burrito, and I ate it in one sitting which I never do. Other than that, a single tandoori leg with naan costing less than $10 is really nice for someone with a small appetite. And their chicken tikka masala always hits!! The main guy who works there is always nice. The place is clean and has a cool modern vibe to it. The price is probably not their fault, maybe inflation. I do think for students it would be appreciated to assign a better price or make the burrito size larger. $17 is just crazy to me. I expected something bigger than my head. read more

If someone's never experienced North Indian cuisine before, I'm sure they'll love this place. Everything from the ambiance to the food itself has a welcoming Indian feel on a surface level. I also really like the puns on the wall. The location is also huge plus--it's in Asian Ghetto and walkable from Unit 2. On to the food itself. Once again, the prices are quite high, even if you're just getting one samosa, but there isn't much competition with lower prices for the same food that's super nearby (walkable), so I guess you take what you can get. The garlic naan is amazing--soft, spongy, garlicky. Definitely one of the better naans I've had in the Bay. The sabzis/curries are very mediocre. The texture is great, very rich, but the flavor is pretty flat. Pretty much everything has the taste of tikka sauce or is too watery to analyze. As someone who lives and breathes this cuisine, I'd really appreciate something spicy, tangy, and smoky, like a dhaba-style kadhai paneer, on the menu. Service is so-so. They accept Snackpass, but it's usually quite a wait, though with the high demand and preparation time to make fresh food, I can't exactly blame them for this. It just means it's all fresh :). Everyone is super friendly and understanding, and it's honestly a joy to witness them cook while you wait. But if you get any takeout option that has even a little bit of oil, like any of their curries, be prepared for the oil to bleed through the packaging, and for anything not separately packaged to mix into one amalgamation. From what I recall, they also sell Indian Lays and some other grocery items like samosas and Maggi here, but the prices are so high I'd never consider buying them here instead of at an Indian grocery store. As someone who's not exactly a huge fan of any of their curries, here's my goto order (a bit of an unconventional one, I'm sure). I get the garlic naan with the aloo tikki chaat. I treat the aloo tikki chaat like a sabzi/curry in itself, scooping it with the naan, and it's honestly better (spicier and more flavorful) than most of the actual curries on the menu, so yeah. I ordered delivery through the Yelp app and the food was great but the restaurant should really reconsider partnering with GrubHub. The Yelp delivery function, which connects you to GrubHub, estimated 25-35 min for delivery, but it wasn't delivered for a full hour. When the driver finally dropped it off it was ice cold and they didn't call, text, ring the doorbell or knock. The receipt showed that the restaurant prepared the food within 15 min, so really this review is just to warn people against using GrubHub because their customer service is also a scam, I waited for their phone/online chatbots for over an hour "first in cue" and they never responded. read more

This is my new favorite Indian food place. All the food I've ordered here is phenomenal. My family has ordered delivery twice. They were fast both times. They don't use a delivery service (which is probably why the food arrived hot and on time), so hopefully they will continue to deliver their own food. The food is consistently delicious. The prices are great/affordable and the portions are big. Things we tried that I highly recommend: Samosa Chaat, Sag Paneer, Veg Masala, Aloo Falee (green beans), Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma. The Raita is AMAZING and very special. The cashew golden raisin naan is AMAZING. The tandoori chicken leg delicious. The Rasmali is a sweet and subtly aromatic dessert. The spice level is perfect for me. I don't think I ever specified a "spiciness" level, so I'm interpreting what I've received as about a "medium" on a stereotypical U.S. palate. The long version: For somebody so picky, this place surprised me. In a good way of course. I had their chicken tikka masala which was very good and their mixed veggies with potatoes and bell peppers was a really good compliment to the protein. What stood out for me though were the little things they got right. The rice smelled and tasted fresh. The naan bread with the touch of herbs was very chewy and delicious. And the raita was probably one of the best I've had, and if you like yogurt along with your Indian food, you must try their raita. We came here to get a few treats on a cold ass runny nosed day. No one else patronized the restaurant so I was a little apprehensive . However, as I continued to gaze at the menu the owner came out and suggested that it was Ok to come in to take a look at their offerings. Timidly I obliged, pointed at a few items such as the Naan with cheese and Samosas. With a genuine smile and gregarious personality he (the owner) described what each dish was. Getting lost in technical conversation and the comfort of my man's warm grasp, the beeps and exhaust of speeding cars prevent us from crossing the street.
