They're located at 5548 Hastings Street in Burnaby, and the owner, the super cool and wildly talented Chef Hollie, makes the most wicked cakes, donuts, pastries, and double-stuffed cookies you can imagine. My absolute favorite is the Bubble Gum & Raspberry Filled Donut -- OMG. It's baked fresh and literally oozing with sweet raspberry filling in every bite. I'm obsessed! And let me tell you -- Chef Hollie also created the Ultimate Donut Platter display for my niece's birthday, and she was completely shocked at how cute and over-the-top it was! The items I got were delicious, I love supporting the little mom and pop shops. But the shear level of creativity that this place has for baked goods is next level. Like I'm not kidding I haven't been to another backers that so far out of the box yet. I got a meat pie ( that's not that creative) but man was it tasty. The twix cheesecake is what caught my attention though, I had to double take. I love twix and I love love cheesecake so I had to get one. Then I started looking at all the others creative collaborations of some of my favourite treats and the mashups between, pies, cakes, bischoff, twix, Oreos, brownies and cheesecakes I almost lost it. I had to rein it in before I put myself in a diabetic coma . I visited this unique bakery for various LOL items which sometimes the media focuses on. I saw this burning cake on Instagram and just got one for Valentine's special. I picked cake flavor for cookie and cream, and buttercream for Oreo. Despite its small size, the cake height was taller than I expected. The buttercream decoration was very pretty, and I liked the color contrast of black and red. So, we put a flame on the top of the cake, and then it burned for about 10-15 seconds. Then, another picture appeared at the bottom. It was an amazing moment! We cut the cake, including the picture on the chocolate bar on the top of the cake. The buttercream was very thick. The food color was kind of strong; I prefer the sponge to be a bit softer. However, the most important thing is that this cake entertained us and we enjoyed the burning moment. We also picked up a Nanaimo bar and a cookie dough croissant; both were on the sweet side but also absolutely delicious. The cookie dough croissant was a standout for us, and I'm already planning to go back for another! Cute little shop, not much sit-down room though! A huge plus is that this bakery is nut-free, which is reassuring for those with allergies (peanut allergy here!) They were super friendly and responsive when I had questions about my allergy too. I was pleasantly surprised with a couple of sweet treats. I had the vegan cookie which was a shortbread type of cookie with hard icing on top. The icing was a bit too hard on my teeth. I enjoyed the delish donut which was perfect when I bit into it. Not too cakey. If you love icing, you'll find it smothered in icing which isn't too sweet. I am not a fan of icing. This place is cool. Much cooler than me and that's okay! Punk Rock Pastries offers up some super creative and unique baked goods. While the storefront is small, they've got a mighty bakery setup going on in the back making everything from custom cakes and phallic cookies to donuts and sausage rolls! Such a cute place! My partner and I were in Vancouver following a cruise, and we knew we wanted to stop by the bakery after seeing Hollie on the Halloween Baking Championship. We're so glad we did! Hollie was there and waited on us - what a surprise! We took home a few of the whimsical decorated sugar cookies as gifts, and those were a big hit. Lots of the baked goods are reeeeaaally sweet, so be ready! I usually store them and eat them over a few days otherwise it feels like I'm about to go into a sugar coma. I can totally see why they won the Food Network's Big Bake. Wow, the quality, creativity, and taste of their donuts are amazing! I heard about them as they are part of Vancouver Foodster's Donut Challenge. Their offering is the Banoffee Donut and it is so incredibly good! I wish this was part of their regular menu as it is absolutely delicious! It is "caramel buttercream stuffed with a sautéed bananas tart topped with vanilla buttercream and rich caramel sauce". One of the best donuts I've had in Vancouver. Honestly, get anything that has their buttercream or whipped cream as they are off the charts! If you are a buttercream lover, you will be in heaven as I don't think I've tasted a better buttercream around. We also tried their Oreo Donut, John Got Stuffed, Strawberry White Chocolate Donut, Butterscotch Bliss, and Biscoff Donut. Aside from the Banoffee Donut, my other favorites were the John Got Stuffed (a jam and cream long john that has the most delectable whipped cream) and the Strawberry White Chocolate. All in all, though, all of their donuts were excellent and you could tell how much care and quality were put into them. And once again - the buttercream! I will definitely be back to try more of their original and decadent-looking desserts. On top of that, their service is wonderful and their online ordering system is very easy to use. my friend and i decided to visit this bakery for the first time and was abit disappointed. friend got 2 donuts which she liked but found overly sweet. i got the nanimo bar and the black forest cake. the cake was definitley not fresh and it seemed it was 2 days old. it was very dry and little to no cherry filling between the layers of cake. the worst part was the whipping cream, it was not fresh and soft but hard and oily. i question was it even whipping cream? it tasted and the texture felt like one of those safeway slab cakes. the nanaimo bar was better. i really wanted to like this place and may give it another chance if i'm in the area. read more

I thought I had reviewed this place but then I realized I had and I feel so ashamed because I've actually been here a few times before the pandemic and recently as they've managed to have a soft opening. I love the girl who runs this place. she is amazing. her pastries are so imaginative and border on pop-culture, Punk and of course horror which are all my favourite subjects.
