Pup Scrub squeezed us in, and in a mud+rotten fish emergency. We were trying to avoid letting Zelda into the car before getting her cleaned up (after unfortunate rolling incident at Juanita Beach) and these folks were very, very helpful, given how amazingly bad Zelda smelled. We googled dog washing from our phone, walked up to Pup Scrub, and our prayers were answered. Zelda came out smelling like a rose. We really appreciate the bail out, and the sense of humor with which it was accomplished. We had a very nice break at Urban Coffee while they cleaned her up. We could practically hear her howling and squealing a half-block away -- all the more reason to appreciate the patience and fortitude of the fine dog washers at pup scrub. I took my 8 month old puppy for his first haircut to Pup Scrub today and I was apprehensive because I wasn't sure if he would have a stressful experience. I received a referral for Lorena so decided to try her. She gave him a terrific professional cut and he smelled so good from the bath. Lorena also was able to get him to remain calm through the process and in addition to the bath and cut, he also got his nails trimmed and teeth brushed. She also gave me terrific advice on maintaining his coat and things not to do. Pup Scrub gives personal attention to their dog guests and this is not like other grooming shops that rush your dog in and out. This was my first and last time at Pup Scrub. I read the great reviews and was excited about trying a new groomer. I was extremely clear with the cut I wanted, which was a very standard cut for my dog's breed. I gave the exact length and type of trim around the face. I was horrified when I picked up my dog. His hair was barely more than a shave and his face had a completely different cut than discussed. He is an extremely friendly and energetic pup and was visibly trembling when I got him. I give a star for the 90 minute groom time, but the cost (which was more than quoted at the time of booking) is the most expensive groom I've ever had and the worst quality. It's an extremely disappointing experience. read more

This is a review for the groomers. Overall, I recommend them if you live close & have a dog that requires a simple haircut or want a quick nail trim. I originally tried them out because they are so much closer to me than my current groomer since I've moved, and spending the day up north to wait for my doggy to get a haircut isn't too fun. They earned 2 stars for the following: being very quick (was done in just under an hour and a half), great location since I just have to walk downstairs to get there, and they did a very nice job on his toenails. His haircut around his head and ears was also done well. They were also friendly despite the fact I couldn't hear them over the dryer and had to ask for multiple repeats of things told to me thanks to headphones ruining my hearing! My dog was a little stressed afterward, but he recovered fairly quickly. As for why the only earned 2 stars: My dog came back with razor burn on his belly & inner thigh which I wasn't informed of while I was at the groomer. On top of that, his hair cut was very lopsided, and a couple weeks later after giving it a chance to grow out, he still has deep indents in the middle of what is intended to be a fluffy area. I had originally thought this may have been due to me not describing his haircut very well (he is a toy poodle, after all!), but even if that were the case the fact the hair is noticeably uneven and significantly fluffier on one side then abnormally short in the middle of the fluff would not be a poor description issue, but rather a poor grooming issue. His feet were also slightly trimmed clean, but he was very shaggy overall around the bottoms of his pads. My dog can get squirmy while getting groomed if he gets stressed out, but my current groomer usually loves on him the entire time he gets groomed so he comes out super calm. So a half star for service (friendly, but didn't inform me of doggy razor scuff going across his belly & inner thigh), a star for nail-trim, and a half star for the actual grooming (nice fro, horribly everything else), which given that's the service I paid for constitutes a majority of the weight of my review. The worst part is I ended up deciding two weeks later to make the hike up to the North to get my doggy regroomed because of how silly he looked and to get his feet redone. read more

They always do a nice job, but my dog has severe separation anxiety and would get really stressed there because he would have to be at the shop for 3-4 hours. I was really impressed with this place as of course it's near me! Also the fact they take walkins for $10 dog nail trim or $15 for the grind. I was additionally impressed that I was offered two options and explanation of why you may want to the $15. They do a fantastic job. I have a large golden retriever (90 lb) and the personnel are excellent at this service. My dog is not a fan of toe nail clipping, but they make it happen and his tail is wagging afterwards. I definitely recommend and trust this business with my friend. read more

I have just had an upsetting experience here with a couple of the employees. I will rarely publicly speak about a business but this was that extreme. This is not a reflection of the owners but of two employees...the cashier l, who's name I don't know, spoke to me in a demeaning way after a misunderstanding accusing me of lying and then a bather, Caitlin who later stepped in calling me a b*%# and c@*#. (Yes, it means what you think.) Let me share how this went down. At drop-off at 1, they told me my dog would be done around 2:30 PM. Around 5, I called and left a vm wondering why they hadn't called and that I was concerned. (No big deal.) They called back saying they had left a voicemail. (Never received. My phone carrier not working?) When I then went to pick up at 6 PM/closing, I was told $77 which included a $10 "day care" fee. Again, no big deal but I was confused. It went down hill when the cashier started waving her finger saying, "You've done this before." "Really? Done what before?" "Leave your dog here and not pick up for hours." I started to recall the last time I was here and yes, now that they mentioned it, the same thing around not receiving their call he was ready *had* happened. Note to self. Weird, right? I found myself caught off guard of what I was being accused of and was beginning to get upset because she would not give me the benefit of doubt continually accusing me of doing on purpose. I asked if she was calling me a liar? And she just kept saying, "We called." Ok, that's all good and well but I didn't receive. I even ran out to the car to bring back my phone and show no vm from them or missed call. (This has happened once before with AT&T but of course I don't know if no one tells me.) After a few minutes of back and forth and me finding myself having to defend my integrity, they escalated now saying they didn't want my dog back because he was "hard to handle". Really? I had never heard this from them the previous 10-15x I've used their business so I was clearly even more confused/shocked. I definitely became upset and increased my voice trying to get her to understand that I was not lying and wasn't accusing them of lying either. My concern was more around something being wrong with the phones? There were about 4-5 of the employees there and they all started defending the cashier yelling at me to get out. I'm thinking, "Is this really happening!?" Caitlin, a bather there, then made worse by calling me a bi%#* as I was walking out the door. Really? I went back in to ask her what she just said and she said again. I admittedly became increasingly upset at their accusations and definitely raised my voice. A man (her boyfriend who does not work there) was in my face screaming, "Get out!" When a man and 4 screaming women are coming at you, game on. I told him to stop screaming at me and that his breath stunk. Mean? I know. Sorry. Not sorry. Caitlin, then screamed out onto the sidewalk that I was a c*%#. She screamed 4x to make sure all of Juanita Village heard. People were staring at her. Wow. I wish I was making this up because I can't believe it just happened. I'm ok admitting I shouldn't have raised my voice when they accused me of lying instead of giving me the benefit of the doubt, but to then insult my dog refusing to see him again and then scream profanities/names at me out the door...disappointing to say the least. In their defense, maybe they were having a bad day!? And, they had gotten so upset that they didn't charge me/refused my money. This was in between my being sworn at. For $65.00, my dog's mane should be perfectly coiffed. I do not expect to pick said dog up, and see at least four visible spots that are at far longer lengths than the rest of the fur. Also, I don't enjoy being chastised for the prior shape of my poms do; isn't that why I'm paying you? Perhaps I've been spoiled by Around the Corner in Queen Anne- where you get a complimentary puppy massage, puppy cologne, a bandana and puppy delivery for $35, but I think it's absurd that eastside groomers feel entitled to charge hellaciously overpriced fees for mediocre service. I am also very UPSET my experience has been exactly the same as VANESSA review......... Pick up my dog and was complety SHAVE he will take at least 6 months before looking like His breed. This was my fourth grooming with them! We had a schedule appointment prior this happens. On the day of the app.I received a call From Pup Scub telling me the gromer has called sick I told them my dog need grooming they suggest I can come for shampoo/ bath since not one was able to do the grooming. By the conservation I thought he was complementary because my dog need grooming and was very inconvenient for us. When I pick up my dog I was told they didn't really did a very good brushing but the groomer will call me the next day to schedule an app. for a regular grooming WOW I was charge for the bath and the bad brushing. No one call as promise so I called them and was told can not give an app.for at least 2 weeks So,today was the appointment ....... The groomer look at him never touch his fur just said he has some mats I told Her I was expecting that since we miss his regular grooming and no one can take my dog sooner and after his bath he was not properly brush therefore matting should be expected. She said she may do some shaving but never never I was expecting what she did I was very upset so was my husband when we pick our little dog. He was half hour work ! Not one hour and half like He was suggested when I drop my dog Specially after what she did. We decided to have luncheon in a near by restaurant within 45 mn we saw the groomer doing errands so obviously our dog was done however we didn't get a call until much later on to tell us our dog was ready. We did saw the groomer going back to Pup Scrub we just knew by her behavior and seeing her outside that she was not spending time on the grooming and Pup Scrub was not busy. I was too upset to discussed anything with them at this point. In the past specially when we come back from the ocean our dog get mats and our regular Groomer never never shave him to that extreme ( infortunately she got married and move out of state) THAT GROOMER IS VERY LASY + BIG ATTITUDE My husband and I refused to paid they had the nerve to handle us a bill like Vanessa we will take our dog somewhere else . For anyone who is considering a haircut for their dog at Pup Scrub, be forewarned as it is still difficult to calm down after the botched job the groomer provided for my bichon frise. I specifically asked half inch off his hair as would assumingly suggest a light trim. Seems simple right? Nope! First I return back disturbed that my dog is locked in a small black cage and there are two huge dogs trying to break in while they are pulling my dog out. I told the lady working there "can we not have this huge dog trying to attack my dog?" Seriously? Totally oblivious to what's happening. Then the groomer who somehow determined that half an inch constitutes shaving down to the bare skin of my dogs ass...and it gets even worse. Not only is it shaved to the bare skin but it's in different spots up and down my dogs legs and looks aweful. I honestly don't know how this business is successfully operating. The icing on the cake was the exorbitant price of 65...plus a tip! It's a dog that weighs 13 pounds and was supposed to have a light trim, which ended up looking hideous. What the hell are they thinking? I recommend this place to noone and hope all reading this post will consider never allowing your pet to go through what my poor dog has just endured. I don't care if they dust your dog with gold flakes, or use dog shampoo made by Luis Vuitton - that's absolutely nuts. Petco charges 58 bucks, they really do a fine job. No need to pay this kind of money. I think they're trying to ride high on the Juanita Village rich people will pay anything for anything tax. 125 dollars is how much it costs to feed my dog for almost 3 months. I hope to speak to the owner of Pup Scrub because I honestly want to believe that they do not know how their employees treat customers. I arrived at the front door 6 minutes before closing. The door was locked, but an employee walked over and opened it a crack to greet me. I explained I needed a nail trim for my two adolescent labs. She said she was closing out the register and couldn't do it. I explained that I had a Pup Scrub pre-paid card, but the employee spent the next 2 minutes explaining that they were closed and that they always locked the doors right at six. I pointed out that even after all of her explaining, it was still only 5:56, not yet 6pm. She opened the door briskly and began muttering under her breath about me arriving at that time. She took my first dog back and seemed to have scared my 8-month old pup (the second dog) with her emotional state because he growled and yelped at her when she moved toward him. She said she would not trim the second dog's nails because she didn't know "what was wrong with him; if he was a puppy or what." I said it was ok that she didn't trim the second dog's nails, because honestly, she was scaring me a little bit with her attitude, too. As I was paying her for the one nail trim she suggested that I come in on the weekend, not on a week night after I get home from work. I left; walked down the block to my car; secured the doggies in and then checked the time. It was 6:02. Even with all of the time she spent protesting and muttering, I was still out her hair by the official closing time. I am still in shock about this employee's rudeness. I have tried to refrain from salacious wording here, but I would not any business I owned to have employees like that. I like that Pup Scrub is in my neighborhood, but very disappointed with their customer service. Do I give them 1 star because the employee did not cause my dog to bleed during the nail trim? I guess I have to give at least 1 star to get this narrative posted. read more

LOVE the PupScrub! I can drop off my 84lb yellow lab and take my laptop across the parking lot to the Starbucks and work until they're done...get her back all shiny and clean for $30-35. You can also self-serve for about half the price, which is fine if you're in your grubbies, but sometimes it's just nice to have someone else do the work. Last week they bathed and scrubbed her 5 times because I told them she was shedding so bad. They also clean ears, clip nails and blow dry. AND they have quite a selection of aromatherapy shampoos AND conditioners! No appointment is necessary, but I'd suggest going earlier in the day, especially this time of year it gets pretty busy. read more

I have a 6 year old Shih Tzu who is difficult to groom because she hates people touching her feet. Jennifer at pup scrub did a fabulous job! The minute we walked in she greeted us and then asked what I wanted and what I didn't want done and wrote them down for future reference. Asked about allergies and all other concerns. I have taken my dog to Pup Scrub for many years. I enjoyed Shelly, the owner, and her friendly staff. I took my dog in for grooming today and noticed a huge difference as soon as I stepped in the door. It was noisy and chaotic. There was dog poop on the floor and not cleaned up for several minutes. I mentioned the chaos when I came in and when I picked up my dog. I was told it had new ownership and they have increased the business, meaning that they are grooming more dogs at a time which makes it noisy with so many dogs in a small space. I missed the calm and friendliness Shelly and her staff provided. This staff never smiled and was not warm. I will not be going back. I am sad because it used to be a fun place to take my dog to. Michelle did an excellent job on my Bella. She looks beautiful and Michelle listened to me and did the kind of cut I requested. Michelle is upbeat and positive. I have been coming to Pup Scrub for years. I love their professionalism, understanding and obvious love for dogs. Keisha has always been the groomer to handle my very old dog who gets quite anxious about grooming. She always does such a great job. Recently, Keisha has been away and my dog had gotten quite matted. Jackie, the owner, suggested one of her new groomers, Tang, who she said was very good and could deal with an old, anxious dog. Tang did an outstanding job! She was so sensitive to my dog and very concerned about keeping her comfortable at all times. I was completely impressed and my dog looked amazing. I wish I could give separate stars for the groomer and the management of the place. The weekend groomer, Hannah, does a fantastic job with the grooming, and is bringing up my star rating from 0 (I'd give Hannah 4 stars if rated separately). The management of the place, however, leaves much to be desired: we had a 12:30 appointment, arrived to find out our appointment had been taken by someone else because "someone" (not me) had called at midnight to cancel my dog's appointment. Clearly, she misunderstood the dog's name on the message because I did NOT cancel my dog's appointment. So, Hannah was overbooked, but they still wanted to take my dog. I asked if there was a better time to come back and was told no, he wouldn't take that long anyway. Long story short, my dog was not ready until 5:40! He was there over 5 hours, I don't think he was given any water (it was over 80 degrees, he's black and overheats easily), and he was completely stressed out. Once he was done, he ran out of there, had diarrhea in the parking lot and then continued to puke in the car, drank a gallon of water when he got home and then puked that up. He was stressed and dehydrated from his ordeal. The manager/owner (not sure?) who had made the mistake of erasing my dog out of the appointment book, thought that offering me a 10% off coupon for *next* time (as if!) was satisfactory. When I told her I should have been offered that discount THIS time, she snatched $10 from the register and held it out with a somewhat sarcastic "Sorry." Hannah had groomed our dog twice before, when he was a puppy, but on a third visit several months ago, we had a very negative experience with a different groomer there (who no longer works there) and had gone elsewhere for quite a while because of it. We were never as satisfied as when Hannah had groomed our dog, so I thought we'd try again. Unfortunately, we will not go back again and will hope Hannah goes somewhere else with better management. read more

Compared to other self service pup & scrub places this place is the best I have been too. You can also have someone else wash your dog for a bit more money, or they even have grooming options. The staff is very friendly. I just went in today for the first time in a long while, and I had a fully loaded wash card that I had never used. I found out that they just recently a week or so ago changed ownership and the card wasn't working right. However, they were really friendly and took down my phone number. They called me back within 45 minutes at home and let me know that it should work just fine next time I come in. So something to keep in mind if you have a wash card for this place that there might be some transitional kinks as they transition to new owners. I hope that the level of service & cleanliness and quality remains the same under the new owners. read more

My bulldog Sherman & I have tried several places since moving to the area 1 1/2 years ago, this is definitely our favorite. You can wash your dog yourself or they can do it for you. We opt for the professional grooming & his fur is like Teflon + super shiny & clean for over 2 weeks. They trim the nails & all the other stuff, too! You can genuinely tell they care :) read more

It's a dog service shop being run by dog lovers - no surprise that it's great. Well equipped with soaps and tools and aprons and super cheap - especially during their Two for Tuesday promotion (which, as a parent to a pair of corgis, I can easily appreciate!) Lots of tubs, rarely a wait - if you're looking for them to groom for you, the schedule does appear to book up a day or so in advance. We've had uneven luck with groomers in the past - Pup Scrub provides an economical way for us to keep our dogs groomed without our bathroom looking like a furry hurricane hit it. read more

It was his first grooming and he wasn't so sure about getting in the tub, but the groomer was patient and offered a treat and managed to him in there.
