However, this grooming result is unacceptable and falls far short of the instructions I provided. I will be very honest about my experience because I believe other pet owners deserve to know what to expect. I do want to make one thing clear: please keep the same notes on the groomer's profile. I've never had this issue before, which is why this outcome is so surprising and frustrating. My concern is with what happened today, not with the history of previous appointments. They botched a groom so grievously it goes beyond forgiveness. The groomer CLEARLY had the trimmer on the wrong setting, much too short, and then decided to go through with the entire midsection and hindquarters rather than changing it to an appropriate length. The ENTIRE TAIL IS BALD, like a RAT's, and her pink skin shows through everywhere. She is freezing and has to wear a sweater. The worst part about having a full body buzz cut -- other than the risk of a sunburn -- was their nerve in charging $160 for a shocking display of incompetency. Honestly. Beyond the worst experience possible. This groomer booked me for a haircut and groom on my Pomeranian. They then proceeded to cancel me day of. The haircut was needed before an upcoming trip and was urgent. They proceeded to reschedule from 11 to 1. Then called again and cancelled and offered 3. At the haircut, they offered to shave her down to her skin due to matting; and their limited time available. Please note; it's extremely unhealthy to shave a Pomeranian that low, it ruins their lower cost and can damage their health. I will not trust this groomer. They clearly are unorganized and hiring low quality labor that is not familiar with dogs. UPDATE: My dog has been taken to another groomer and they said she was not matty. I believe this was a tactic to illegally charge me a $45 cancellation fee, or the employee was lazy and didn't want to do the work. I will not recommend this company. They are unethical. read more

Nick Kass quoted me a 2 night stay over the weekend for $198, didn't warn me about the $5/minute surcharge for late pickup - he said it would be $45 - then they billed me $580 for the weekend. They didn't send me the receipt until 24 hours later, then told me there was nothing they could do to fix the situation. Also, when I dropped off my dog, they asked when they should feed her the treats I brought. I gave them a schedule which Jenny wrote down. All the treats but one were returned to me, suggesting they ignored my instructions, and worse, ignored my dog. I began bringing my dog here from when he was a small puppy through to adolescence. Sandy (former GM) & Allyson (former employee) were amazing and extremely knowledgable about managing these dogs. Unfortunately, they have both left Pups in Wicker Park, and the place is now an amateur-hour operation with extremely inexperienced staff. The manager, Todd, is stretched thin managing multiple locations, and he would rather push the "easy button" than actually train his staff to do their job. The only reason that this review gets 2-stars is because one of the groomers (Sabrina) is amazing. However, I wouldn't be surprised if she is no longer there either. If you own anything other than a doodle, consider bringing your dog elsewhere. I took my dog here for a year for daycare, mostly because of the convenience of the location. It's overpriced compared to other daycares in the immediate area, but I continued to take him because he really loved the employees and I could tell that they genuinely enjoyed getting to know him and loved being around dogs. One of their best employees left about 6 months ago and I heard she was completely mistreated by management. Last week I brought my dog in and the ENTIRE STAFF has resigned including the GM. Huge red flag. Good people continue to be cycled thru this place, another red flag. This company values profit over the safety of their employees and the dogs. Pups Pet Club is Awesome!!! Our pup has been going to the Wicker Park location since he was 7 weeks old...he's now 4 years old and still luvs going every day. Our dog David loves it here. They've really got it all. It's always so clean. It's nice they have different rooms based on dog sizes. Great to have them do grooming while at daycare as it's one less thing to worry about. And the General Manager is so nice. My rating is for the grooming. My corgi Pancake has never had a better groom! Most corgis even after brushing them, shed a lot. Since getting groomed and with the additional shedless treatment, Pancakes coat is luminous and not shedding! Even cuddling with me on the couch, he didn't leave a trace! Didn't expect such amazing results. He seems so much more comfortable in the heat. I've tried many groomers in the city but PUPS Pet Club is by far the best. I can tell they don't cut any corners. My dog has been nothing but happy every time we've dropped him off here. I really like that all the dogs are kept in a communal area with a few humans. There's no crating, and for the most part the pups are well behaved, and I really like that there are tinted windows to see into the area. The staff is very nice and the drop off and pick up process are efficient. We have even started getting our dog groomed here, and they have been very helpful during the pandemic as well. read more

I've brought my puppy here a few times for grooming, and each time I've been satisfied! The employees are so nice and always greet my puppy by his name. I could not be more pleased with Pups Pet Club. After taking my mini goldendoodle to two other groomers and not liking the results, I took him to Amber as she grooms one of the dogs in the neighborhood and I always admired how he looked. Even though they have similar coats they are different and I wasn't totally convinced that she could groom him to my expectations. Was I wrong. She did a beautiful job. My boyfriend hates when I take our dog Hennessy to the groomers. BUT, ever since have been taking him here, he is absolutely fine with our dog getting groomed. We just got back from a week-long trip, our dog boarded with the club and had a homecoming grooming service. As soon as we got home my boyfriend said, "I don't know where they get these heaven-sent people from but they are absolutely amazing". I took my dog Rizzo here for the first time today, and I couldn't be happier! Amber did a fantastic job grooming him. When they called they let me know that Rizzo was stressed out, but they were kind and just wanted to give me a heads up. When I picked him up, they said he had calmed down a lot. The general manager talked to me about how he was stressed, and that they did everything they could to calm him. She suggested that next time I bring a Kong with peanut butter to distract him, and I definitely will. Even though he was a hand full at today's appointment, everyone was so kind to me.
