I have been going to this location for at minimum eight years and I don't know what happened to this store if it is new management or what but the quality of service has gone downhill extremely they repeatedly tell me they have to shave my dog who has a complicated coat but is not matted It's them I believe being lazy and not wanting to deal with it. Every time I have found a decent groomer they leave right away. The turnover is extremely high. I'm done. I'm done with this location and I'm done with being gaslit about my dog. As much as I love my dog, he can be a total pain in the a** when it comes to getting groomed; even though he is so sweet and loving at home-- he is pretty shy and hates getting baths. I honestly don't know what I would do without Julie and the rest of the Kriser's team. Our dog was matted after six months in the woods, rolling in sand and sap. Groomer did a magnificent job shaving him down. Not an easy job.

This store was much better before the expansion. The management and sales people are sooooo rude! It's like your doing them a favor by being in their store. The groomers were great with my pet but now I will NEVER go back due to the rude attitudes!!!! read more

Have worked with several groomers as well as groomers at other Kriser's stores, Rachel and Tracy can and do handle our loved ones with care, compassion and expertise. Remember Lamb Chop?!? This is the song that never ends... okay I'll stop. I saw a giant Lamb Chop in the window walking by. By giant I mean like pretty much the size of my pug. Of course what pug doesn't need a life sized lamb chop so I bought it for him. Brought lamb chop home and my pug loved him so much that he decided to kill the one squeaker in him within 10 minutes or so then after about an hour later he ripped open the back of him. Don't worry I saved Lamb Chops life and plan on stitching him back up in no time. Moving on... all the other toys seems reasonably priced. Leash and collar prices not too bad. Then of course the cutest sweaters and coats were pricey. Saw a packable raincoat by the checkout... how cute right!? If they had the size and color I wanted I would have definitely bought it. They have cute little decorated doggie treats! At the checkout ... I saw these adorable little knitted cat toys filled with catnip. And in true consumer fashion I had to buy some even though I don't own a cat. But of course I know people with cats so as you could have guessed, I gave the cat toys to them. Shoutout for Allie who groomed my shihtzu Gus yesterday. His hair was really long so he was overdue for a cut. When we arrived Allie came out to greet us and listened to me describe my preferred length for his beard, ears, coat in general. When I returned a few hrs later Gus looked like a new dog. I never leave reviews but have to leave one for the vet clinic at Kriser's. Every other city vet has a month + wait time. I've actually been ubering to the suburbs to go to the vet since I don't have a car, which adds up! I decided to call the Kriser's vet and I'm SO glad I did. Not only was the vet staff was beyond friendly, informative, kind, genuine, and treated my puppy like their own... but they also got her in DAY OF. Truly unheard of in this city!! After posting the original review, I ended up speaking to the district manager and really appreciated being heard. I have loved going to that location but a bad apple really spoiled the bunch and soured my experience. They have handled my concerns, I took my dog for her regular grooming with Julie (she's the best groomer and just the sweetest person ever)!!! Millie got spoiled and received the royal treatment! I greatly appreciate the call that I received afterwards from a friendly man to see how things were and how my overall experience was. Brought our puppy here for his first grooming. He looked pretty ridiculous when we picked him up. His ears were barely cleaned and the hair around his eyes was cut but not his eyelashes.... Also they couldn't manage to cut any of his hair. And they still charged us full price. We'll be going somewhere else next time. read more

Over the last year, I have learned a lot about dog products and which ones I feel good about giving my pup Maggie. While Kriser's can sometimes be on the pricey side compared to online stores, I think their braided rawhides are high quality with the best price. Maggie goes crazy for them! She especially loves the vanilla flavor. Other flavors include plain, beef, chicken, and liver. Another thing to note is that I have had nothing but great customer service every time I come in. It just seems in the spirit of good business they would've honored one. It doesn't make much business sense, they did not close down due to COVID, if anything people stocking up helped their business. It truly is a dog eat dog world out there. Matt!!!!!!! I'm a first time customer. I just moved here from Vegas took a few days to drive across the country and just wanted to find a groomer to groom my Dachshund mix Sheeba Swift... they made a spot for me. I walked in I was greeted by Matt ... he blew my socks off. And was so kind. His energy radiated. My queen looks like a million bucks. My husband and I decided to switch groomers for our two dogs after a bad experience at another place. We have purchased food and treats at Kriser's but I am not sure why we hadn't used them for grooming before today. We could not have been happier with our experience. The groomer, Matt, was so professional and genuinely listened to our requests and was so sweet with both dogs. I brought my dog here for a bath last week, and I couldn't be happier. The staff was so kind, and my dog was softer than she's ever been before! Her black coat was shiny and clean all in less than 30 minutes. I barely had time to drive home and back! The only negative was the price -- $60 for just a bath for a 50 lb dog seems high. But luckily, there's a Yelp coupon for your first time! And honestly, their customer service combined with how squeaky clean my dog was, and I'll probably keep coming back. Bonus: Kriser's is a great pet store too! There's more selection than other boutique pet stores but the quality is levels above big stores like Petco. I had a STELLAR experience today. I asked an associate for a recommendation on a bag of Soft treats, and what I got in return was one of the best customer experiences I've had. She took me around to about 6 different types of treats and explained everything about them, down to how the companies started and why the treat would be good for my puppy. She went above and beyond to really explain what types of treats my pup would like and was so patient and kind. Well above what I expected! read more

Great pet store! They have Fromm dog food, which is what we use for our dog. We also have gotten him toys and treats, as well as a winter coat from here. The people that work here are very friendly too! This store is located close to Paws and across the street from another pet store. The diffrence is that Kriser's is all natural! read more

I wanted to give this Kriser's one more chance since last time they canceled my appointment 40 minutes prior to the appointment, and this time I'm so upset with the "service" that was provided. Beware of going to this place for grooming. When they called me to pick up my dog they told me she'd "given herself a bloody nose" -- well, it'd be the first time in 13 years that she'd ever had a bloody nose, so color me suspicious. They also left her looking like a total doofus, with short and long patches all over her body and a totally untrimmed, uncleaned face. Background: my dog is 13 and doesn't love being groomed -- what older pup does? But I've been grooming her 2-3x/yr for 10 years after adopting her sweet little mega-mutt self when I was in college. There's only been one time in all those years where she was too anxious to be groomed, and we give her Rescue Remedy to calm her down a bit. Nothing different this time around. We went to Kriser's Clybourn for Zena's second Kriser's grooming appointment there. (Well, except for the first appointment, they failed to put it into the computer, so when we showed up they had no time for her and had to refer us to another of their locations, which did a fantastic job of grooming my little monkey). Jessica, our groomer, seemed unconfident and nervous, which is not a great mix with a skittish pup. I had a not-so-great feeling after talking with her, but we were already there and the dog was already sedated. This isn't going to happen again. She called us nearly 2 hours later to tell us that Zena had given herself a bloody nose which, as I mentioned above, is just not the case. Maybe they weren't handling her gently and they smashed her sweet little snout into the side of the basin, or jammed her into a crate or something, but this dog has never bled ever in her entire life. No nose bleed, no injuries, no nothing. We raced over to pick her up, and I walked in with "Hi, we're here to pick up our bleeding dog" (which, btw, really gets a reaction). When the guy gave me a "huh?" face, I said "well I hope it's not hard to find her back there with a description like that" (at which point my fiance shot me a please-be-nice look) ;) She was patchy, with long and short areas, and her face hair was untrimmed and dirty. When they opened the cage she was cowering in the corner and barely moved when she saw me -- this dog jumps on her hind legs when I leave the room and return a moment later. TL;DR. I'll never take her back to this location and I'll make sure nobody I know goes there for grooming. I will, however, go back to the other location. Stick with Milwaukee Ave! Unless, of course, you want to get a dog back filthy, ungroomed, and bleeding ... read more

I love this store! Call me crazy, but I had no idea a store like this even existed. That is until I found myself walking around my new neighborhood in Lincoln Park. The staff is BEYOND knowledgeable. I told the gentleman helping me (Don, I believe) that I would bring a pen and paper for notes next trip because there was a lot to take in about life past Iams. I was feeding my dog food that was not good for him at all and noticing a decline in his health. It's been two weeks since I switched to the food Don recommended and I already can see a change for the better. That along with probiotics (yes, for dogs. Kriser's on Clybourn is my favorite pet boutique. I just wish I lived closer! Why do I love Kriser's? I love their mix/match 10% off case discount for wet food (because really, who wants to eat the same thing every single day?), I love the people, I love the managers dog Olly, I love the open, well lit, organized space. I love the accessible parking. I also love the fact that my favorite groomer (from PetCo down the road) is now employed there! They carry the brands my cats love, BFF, Instinct, Weruva. The only reason I go to any other store is because Acana is my cat's kibble of choice and sadly Kriser's does not stock it. If you want the best choices in terms of treats, toys and grooming for the furry member of your family this is your one stop shop. read more

Do not go into this place expecting to find Alley Cat, Whiska's, Meow Mix or any other cheap cat food. Yes, the food is a bit more expensive, but it's all natural. I feel the quality of the food is tops amongst other store brand products and the people that work there are very helpful. Like any other store, human or animal food, all natural foods will cost more. Since I live in the city, my cat stays inside and I feel that the all nature, filler-free diet helps her maintain her weight. Someone mentioned they are the "Whole Foods" for the pets, which is a good description. One bonus that I do like is being able to try the sample packs of various products to see if Miss Pussy Galore (yes, that's her name...don't knock it!) will like it or not. Dropping money on something a pet won't eat is never fun and the samples do prevent you from wasteful trying. In addition to the food, they do have a substantial amount of toys, treats and grooming services. Too bad the only creature that can tell me if she likes the food or not is my cat. The woman who works in this store is very rude--she will single handedly close this store. I came into the store as I do every 6 weeks. Since they occasionally move products from one spot to another I asked the woman if she could show me where the grain free Fromms was located. She put her finger up to my face, showed me the phone in her hand & said she had to answer the phone. She answered the phone and proceeded to engage in a conversation with the caller walking back to the cash register. I patiently waited for several minutes. Then I walked over to her and said, 'whenever I call the store, I'm placed on hold because the store 'is busy helping customers in the store.' Now I'm here in the store and your busy helping customers on the phone! I'm going to find a different store to buy Fromm's." And I did! Get your pet food, etc for less at Pet Supplies Plus 3757 N. I have never had my dog groomed there before, but she is a yellow lab and doesn't require much maintenance...usually a hose down outside and she is good to go. My wee girl dog likes duck feet, salmon skin, hooves, sheep trachea and pig's ears. My big boy dog likes bully sticks. They both like bison bits, dried chicken and I think rabbit. And I can find all of that at Kriser's. While their prices are not at all competitive with, say, PetSmart, their products are also not at all on the same level; I feel good about feeding my guys food and treats from Kriser's because it's whole foods-style premium stuff.
