I have a Goldendoodle puppy and he got 4 bad haircuts in a row over the course of 6-7 months. Each visit they told me they took notes on my directions, and each time I went in they were lost on what to do. Result: terrible haircut, not even close. Every single time. Do not recommend for grooming. DIY baths are nice. read more

Bowie Barker did a very nice job with my Shih Tzu mix! He had a bath and haircut, the full treatment. The staff was very nice. I live in the neighborhood so it's an easy walk but I noticed parking in front for those that need to drop off and pick up. It is far enough west on Armitage to allow for easy parking. I no longer dread "bath day". Took our (already very large) 6 mos. old rescue pup there for his first bath. Fabulous experience - couldn't have been better. First time one of our dogs didn't dread getting bathed, either. I'd rate 6* if I could. From the interaction with the young woman at the front desk, to all the other groomers who came out to say hello and help us, to the nail clipping technician - it couldn't have been a more enjoyable experience. Each were helpful, kind and genuinely like dogs and their job. Facility is nice, clean, and has everything you need. But the kind, professional people there really made the difference. Kudos to the owner who must value the power of great staff. We will be bathing our dog here from now on. read more

It was our puppy's first time at a groomer and my first experience with it. It was super easy to schedule online and they were ready for us when we arrived. They took him in and kept us updated with timing and a photo. He came out looking and smelling great and was still super relaxed and unstressed. Services were a 5. She looks great and your staff followed the exact instructions I asked for to keep her fluffy, get the hair out of her eyes and you guys did exactly that, so thank you! The one and only thing for me is just the price point, especially given Chicago. In New York I paid $135 (in Chelsea, too!) and my bill here was $160. That's what I'm used to paying before moving here but the other groomers that I've been to in Chicago are between 65 and 115.. that's the only thing that i would not give you guys a five star rating on. I'm so glad they were able to take care of Zsa Zsa. Zsa zsa is a Hungarian puli with a very challenging coat.

Nails done, hair done, everything did! It was my seven year old French's first time at a professional groomer and I am blown away by Bowie Barker! Danette at the front desk warm and friendly. The staff won my pup over immediately and gave him a treat prior to his bath. I loved that they asked if he had any allergies or dietary restrictions first. We all know that French Bulldogs are extra sensitive! I opted for a bath (includes ear cleaning, teeth cleaning, nail trim, AND blowout), and added on: deshedding, gland expression, hydrating treatment, and a specialty shampoo. Bowie Barker has so many great add on options; I wasn't worried about their products irritating his sensitive skin. I received a photo update from the team and a courtesy call to let me know when he'd be ready for pickup. Bathing my dog has always been a challenge for me but Rashad (bather) let me know that he did so well I'll leave it to the professionals moving forward. We will definitely be back and I'm so glad to know that my pup was in great hands! Grooming can be a stressful experience for some dogs (and dog owners) but my pup Rambo left happy as can be. I have been going to Bowie Barker every two weeks for a bath and occasional trim of her bum and, and have overall been very pleased until yesterday where my dog received a beyond terrible haircut. In the written notes, I put down that I wanted her trimmed, kept fluffy, and no razoring around the face or body. I reiterated this to the groomer Trent in person, and he did the exact opposite. The entire cut is uneven, but what I'm most devastated about is her face. Trent clearly electric razored around her face and it is uneven, sparse, and unblended. He also chopped off her left eyelashes (right ones are still long and intact). Her body is much shorter than what asked for. He basically shaved her, which I asked him not to. In addition to the awful haircut, Trent was rude and did not seem to care or have any interest in what I wanted my dog to look like. Overall, it was clear he just wanted to be done as quickly as possible and did not care about the quality of his work. I was refunded and offered a credit when I called and told them how disappointed I was, but that is definitely not enough to make up for the terrible job and months it's going to take to regrow her once beautiful face and coat. read more

Bowie Barker was perfect! My dog is terrified of nail trimming (and when I say terrified, I mean, she doesn't even like it when we clip our own nails!). Add to the fact that she's a big lab mix, and it's just a real challenge to get her trimmed. When I called Bowie Barker, they assured me that they'd do the best they could and just to bring her in. After about ten minutes, they brought her back out, confirmed that she does indeed hate nail trimming, but they were able to get it done. They treated all of us with respect and were kind and helpful and I highly recommend them! read more

We have been using Bowie Barker for a few months. Never had any major issues until this last time. But they were inconsistent from the start. Never trimmed our pups nails or brushed his teeth. His trims were always mediocre and not really what I asked for. But this last time, let me tell you. My husband and I usually wait around at a nearby bar because it's usually around an hour or so. No point in driving home and back again. We dropped our pup off and they sent a photo within 10 minutes of him getting bathed which they always do. Our pup was previously abused by his first groomer and they were aware. 3 hours go by and we have heard nothing. They are not responding to my messages. So I called and they tell me it's one of their busy days and always takes a bit longer ever after we were told when dropping him off it would be about an hour. We decided something is wrong and went to go get him. Come to find out he has been tethered to a wall for 3 hours waiting to be groomed. All they could say was it was a busy day and the front desk chick laughed in my face when I asked for the manager and slammed the door when she went to go get her. Manager comes out, (same person that told us in would be an hour when we dropped him off) said it's one of their busy days and it can take longer. We weren't notified or anything. I told them to go get my dog immediately. He came out with no trim or anything. They couldn't even comp the bill for them not doing anything. I would not trust my pet with them ever again. When we picked up our pup, he was still damp. For a breed with a double coat, it is imperative that they are to be dried fully. This was first professional groom and we were expecting professional results. We have a dog drying device and had to use it on our pup immediately at home. In addition, there were splinters from when they cut his nails. Not all were clipped/grinded down. Furthermore, the customer service was very poor as the person who came to take our puppy came quickly towards our dog, stood the entire time, did not come cautiously or with care, and was rushing to attempt putting on a leash from a far away stance with a haphazard lasso technique. He had his own personal leash already, and I could have helped transition him by aiding in changing the leash or even handing him to her (as this is the most comfortable approach for strangers and our pup). He was cornered and then dragged towards the back. If we received a proper introduction, such as simply knowing the name of the staff member and how this service were to proceed, it could have reassured us. We were very disappointed in this service as we did great research on finding the perfect place for our puppy's first groom. Unfortunately, this is not the one. read more
