Richmond really needed a coffee shop downtown for EKU students, and this is the perfect place to replace LiveWire! With great owners, and awesome service from Kara (my favorite). I recommend this place for anyone needing a positive atmosphere where you can always see friendly and familiar faces, and treat them to a nice cup of joe. I had the opportunity to check this little coffee shop today. I had a caramel latte with a pollo Purdy sandwich which was delicious. The staff was friendly and was good atmosphere to do some reading, chat, or finish a paper for class! Definitely recommended! read more

We were purdy thirsty so we thought we'd stop somewhere. We found Purdy's that was purdy close to where we were shopping today. After driving around, I found a spot that was purdy close to the cafe and we parked. We got two outstanding drinks and a purdy reasonably priced cookie. We walked up a purdy staircase and found a cozy table next to the window to get some work done. All in all Purdy's is a place we plan come back to purdy soon! read more

Absolutely love this place! First of all, the espresso drinks are the best I've had ANYWHERE. (I'm addicted to the iced lattes.) I also like that their food items are fresh and made locally. The whole place is set up to be comfortable and inviting - somewhere you want to sit and enjoy your drink instead of just grabbing it to go. I found this place rated highly on Trip Advisor so went there. It's in downtown Richmond area... Poor parking. I ordered 2 large cappuccinos along with 2 chicken salad sandwiches. The coffee was good but I waited for 8 mins at the accompaniments bar and nobody brought any sugar. The sandwiches... Big disappointment for about $7+ a piece... Bread was dry and hard (no it wasn't grilled)... And the filling left a lot to be desired, especially in terms of quantity. Ambiance is ok but they need to display more menu options with prices inside. They only had ONE grimy menu at the counter sans prices, which is just not done. Purdy's is an awesome place to meet someone for coffee and breakfast or simply treat yourself to well above average food and coffee. The atmosphere, food, coffee, AND service is absolutely top-notch. If you're in Richmond, KY stop in for gourmet coffee (and a whole selection of lattes, and more) and breakfast. Their bacon, egg, and cheese bagel is amazing. Great way to fill the coffee-shop-shaped void on Main Street. The restored building is fantastic, the service is friendly and personable, and the beverages are awesome. As a pretty no-frills coffee fan, I was pleased to find plenty of simple and straightforward espresso drinks on the menu, but they serve something delicious for any taste. Check out the radical photo of Richmond's courthouse square -- it was taken in 1910. read more

What a find. Richmond has gone from no options for good espresso to one that, in my opinion, beats many of the best in the country. My dad lives in Richmond and my wife and I were visiting over Thanksgiving, knowing we'd be away from home made espresso and lots of other choices where we live. When we've come to Richmond in the past we had a choice of McDonalds, then Starbucks and now Dunkin. But we would always prefer a local independent coffee shop. Not sure how we missed this shop up to this point but I'm glad we've finally now stumbled upon Purdy's. We have a Cafe Miele and a Latte and our assessment - well suffice to say we won't be going anywhere else for now on when we visit Richmond. Not only is the espresso excellent, but the atmosphere just make for a complete destination. Warm and inviting interior, decorated with warm tones and exposed brick top off a wonderful experience. i love the environment and the people. everyone is really nice. i have to say though that i probably won't order food from here anymore. it was really good but it took almost 45 minutes to get my food and when i got my chips they were all crumbs. the sandwich was really good but just not a very good experience with their food. totally not saying you shouldn't come here though. it's an awesome environment! read more
